Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi bumper xx your post gives me hope thanks

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 18/04/2008 19:51

SG, don't worry, everyone has got to do it in their own way. Do you think DS is what they call a "high needs" baby? Don't know if this is useful?

Hi DKMA btw!

Hi again!
SG - good to have you back! Sounds like you're having a nightmare I read loads of that Dr Sears stuff (Bumpers link) and found it really useful - worked a treat with my little fella who now has no probs going to bed at 7 every night.
God - they are all so different aren't they? I think all we can do is what feels right at the time. I hope it gets better for you (and you Bumper).

Hi MHD!

kaniluja · 18/04/2008 20:57

Three! Shudder at the thought!. Think I would be divorced and ds would be ruling the roost by then! Don't get me worng I love him to bits, he is so cute when he wants to be, he is the 'the little boy with the little curl right in the middle of his forehead....etc etc'

It is totally my own fault for starting it in the first place and it is so nice cuddling up to them and kissing their lovely hair....

Yes, Bumper I think you are right he seems fairly high needs to me, I am realsing what an angel dd is! I think he is also very strong willed and has a temper!

lackaDAISYcal · 18/04/2008 21:24

evening all.

I'm feeling a little bit more today, but not much. I have abdicated parental responsibility to DH and have been avoiding both children like the plague , although DD has been very cute and is back to her usual smiley self.

I have just spent the evening booking holidays. Nowhere exotic, but have booked a caravan break in northumberland for the May bank holiday weekend, and a week in Staithes for the first week of the summer holidays (Ria, we WILL be meeting up ).

thanks for that link foxy. Pinky is one of my Nov AN buddies and we'd already said we'd hold each other's hands through the whole thing. I spent this morning writing up the personal stuff in my notes and putting VBA2C in big letters as well as highlighting relevant bits from some info from the Royal College of Obs and Gynae on VBAC. I'm going in on Monday prepared for a fight, and if they are hostile, I'm prepared to go elsewhere. DH has agreed to hiring a doula, so I need to get that organised asap....if only mhc was closer

We have done CC to soem extent with DD and it is bloody hard emotionally, but she had been sleeping OK and was just used to cuddles after being poorly. We didn't let her cry for long periods, and she sorted herself out after a night of it. I suppose we all do what we have to to get us through the night. Good Luck with it anyway.

kaniluja...good to have you back with us, but sorry you are having sleep and dh issues! I like the new name, it has a good ring to it. Does it mean anything?

mhc, when we decorated DSs room a couple of years ago we got some glow in the dark planets and stars wallpaper...can't remember where from, but I'll see if I can find a link for you. The glow in the dark has long worn off, but DD loves the wallpaper

DH is grumbling about needing the pooter, so I'd better clear off.

hi to everyone else and enjoy your weekends. Not sure about tomorrow, but we are off to a medieaval thing at Wentworth Castle on Sunday for St George's Day.

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/04/2008 21:26

good evening ladies!

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/04/2008 21:32

Sputnik · 18/04/2008 21:39

Hi Natty, how's things?

lackaDAISYcal · 18/04/2008 21:42

hey natty

I'm just logging off, unfortunately....DH needs the pooter ta catch up with the work I kept him from earlier by being an emotional wreck and insiting we went out for lunch as I've barely left the house all week.

come back soon

ah im ok
need advice on reusables, anyone using them?

Sputnik · 18/04/2008 22:18

Lots of us Natty. Shame Daisy has gone as I bet she'd love to answer any questions. Anyway, what do you need to know?

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/04/2008 22:41

i was interested in the new mothercare smart nappy
does it work?

Riallyclean · 18/04/2008 22:41

Hi all amd bye all (by the looks of it)

It's Shakespeares birthday on St Georges Day too.

I am weak - DH has managed to get baggins to go down in his cot around 8.30 by taking him into our bed til he's asleep after his last bottle, then moving him. He usually cmoes back into our bed around 3am (although I may well be in with DS2 by then), but as neither of us sleep anyway it doesn't matter too much ... presumably they'll both sort themselves out by the time they're 18?

Having trouble choosing a Midsomer Murders to watch. I think might buy the 4th box set with my first pay packet.

DH has no feeling in his hand again - he is going back to the Drs next week.

Sorry natty, can't help with nappies.

lol ria 18? thats months i hope!!

sorry to hear about dh, how odd that must feel to have no hand (well would feel like that)

lackaDAISYcal · 18/04/2008 23:02

aha...I'm back

hi again natty. the only thing I've heard about the smart nappy is a review from a MNer on another thread. She said they were a bit leaky to start with, but after a few washes were fine, and were a good budget option. They seem very reasonably priced from what I can see. They do a trial pack I think, so you can give them a go for not much money.

lackaDAISYcal · 18/04/2008 23:04

ria, sorry about DHs hand; it must be quite scary.

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/04/2008 23:11

ah daisy just the person i wanted to speak to!

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/04/2008 23:13

u are the reusable queen!
i may go for them.. unfortunatly the trial packs do not come in a large size which is what i need

Izzybel · 18/04/2008 23:32

Hey everyone! Just popping in v v quickly before I go to bed.

Can't believe it was a days ago when I last posted! Where does the time go?

Bumper, so sorry you're having a nightmare at night times . Bet it's worse if you're working the next day too. Don't envy you at all.

Daisy, glad you've been feeling a little better today . Hope DD feels better. Stop being hard on yourself, you're a brill mum. It's difficult being preg and full of hormones, without having poorly los. I forgot to congratulate you on hearing the hb btw! That's fabby news .

Lilkel, whinge away! That's what MN is for!

Ria, hope your DH gets well soon.

Natty, good to 'see' you . Hope you and the little 'uns are well.

Norty, DD is ff. She has 9oz at breakfast, inc what goes onto her cereal and then 2 or 3 bottles of 7ish ozs (doesn't usually take all full bottles) during the day. My HV said that they need at least a pint a day but it can include yoghurts etc.

OK this might sound like a stoooopid question, but what happens when they turn 1? Do you continue giving formula continuing to decrease it, or do you just start giving them cows milk as their milk? Or does it depend on what baby wants?

NattyThomasandEllen · 18/04/2008 23:41

i just switched to cows milk when tom turned one, no problems.
with ellen she started to refuse formula at 8 months so on the advice of HV switched to cows milk at 9 months as she said it was better to drink cows milk than no milk!

Izzybel · 18/04/2008 23:46

Ahh, cheers Natty! Will switch when she turns 1 then. Hopefully, it will be easier

kaniluja · 19/04/2008 09:06

Whaheyyyy!!! Ds slept through .....lalalalla (does little dance) has it worked or is it a fluke?

Hi Daisy name doesn't mean anything just a mixture of all us in the family!

Right must go, dd had ballet and tap followed by party...... those who have older ones when did you stop staying at kids parties, dd just 5 and i just can't leave her, seems way to young to me, but lots of others mums do! Is it me?
