Fairy - I poked you

FrazzledFairyFay · 04/04/2008 20:01

I poked you back

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/04/2008 20:06

Oh I see, you didn't all go quiet for the afternoon! Right, got to put garlic bread in the oven and then I'll come and catch up.

In the meantime can anyone tell me are Next generous with their sizes? Or do they cut fairly tight so a 14 (say) from Next would be a 12 at most other places?

Sputnik · 04/04/2008 20:10

Sounds like most of you are similar to us nap-wise then, 1 long, 1 short. Surprisingly Baby Sputnik made it to bedtime intact after just 1 nap, though didn't eat much dinner. Can't decide if he isn't feeling too well or just rejecting my healthful cooking.

Just pmsl listening in to DD on the phone to MIL, "I didn't go to school today because I cut my toenails"

RiaisMaLarkin · 04/04/2008 20:13

Bloody kids! First baggins took a big bite out of the soap at bathtime (and not organic fruit soap either so no nutritional value), then, when he is supposed to be happily playing on DS2s bed (next to the wall, bedguard and me blocking the end as I put socks in the drawer) he flaming well decided to crawl past my leg and landed on his head on the floor . He cried for a bit but is now crawling around being really agressive with his toys. I think he is sulking because Dada isn't here.

He has a lovely bruise on his head...

your new house sounds nice mhc.
for your bus ride lilkel, obviously you need a big buggy with 2 DCs. Silly old man.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/04/2008 20:15

Izzy sounds good about your Mum. But shame about crap buses both Izzy and lilkel.

The jamlet normally has 2, sometimes 3, half hour naps. She used to also ALWAYS have an hour nap about 5-6 or 5.30-6.30 but that often doesn't happen now. But her night sleeping has been amazing this week - 4 nights sleeping through Will probably be SHITE now tonight, of course.

RiaisMaLarkin · 04/04/2008 20:15

I have no idea about next sizing jammy. Sorry.

Baggins usually has 2 naps, but he hasn't really got a pattern, it seems to depend very much on whetheer anyone is with him and how much noise the other buggers are making. He doesn't even look tired now.

Evening all!

Jammy - I find next a bit on the big side of the sizings tbh.

MHD - brill about house move - sounds great! I have stayed at St Andrews a few times (in the big new golf place - not the old one) there's a great track all along the cliff edge and beach that you can get onto from that hotel - last time I was there (Just before I got pg) I went for a run down there - sodding well depressing to think how uber fit I used to be.
I WILL BE THAT FIT AGAIN...........I WILL!!!!!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/04/2008 20:53

Ria, we were just singing about a turtle eating the soap at the library today. Perhaps baggins could hear us?

I have a little turtle, his name is Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim
He drank up all the water and ate up all the soap
And now he is ill in bed with a bubble in his throat

FrazzledFairyFay · 04/04/2008 20:56

Ooooh that poor turtle

I am SERIOUSLY bored tonight. AND, there's naff all on the tv. I'm in danger of finding some internet shopping to do, which could be expensive. I should go to bed really, but for once I don't even feel tired. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Sorry, I had to let that out. As you were

LittleMissNorty · 04/04/2008 20:57

Evening all

Being a bit thick....I've only just realised the old thread was full

We're still on 2 naps here......45 mins in the morning and sometimes 2.5hours after lunch and given half a chance (which I don't) she'd have another at 5ish.....so I put her to bed around 6.30pm

Sounds like a relief about your mum Izzy....

Contrary to DKMA, i find Next small sizes for me....except their maternity wear strangely

Oh yeh - something happened ther with him didn't it? I can't remember now though????

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/04/2008 21:07

I miss the beach.
We moved from Whitley Bay 5.5 years ago and I still miss seeing the beach every morning and evening.
Don't miss the bloody fig horn though.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/04/2008 21:08

fig horn? Because yeah, those figs are a well known maritime hazard
I meant fog horn of course!

FrazzledFairyFay · 04/04/2008 21:10

pmsl at fig's being maritime hazards

RiaisMaLarkin · 04/04/2008 22:14

I bet you've all gone to bed now.

DS2 out himself to bed tonight, bless him. Baggins went to sleep in his cot for all of 3 minutes til I made a noise tidying, so he waited til dada came home and watchewd Torchwood with him before he went to sleep.

Are you from up north really then jammy? I stayed in Whitley Bay on a school trip when I was at junior school. We got point for our rooms and one of the things was "view", our room overlooked a scrapyard.

RiaisMaLarkin · 04/04/2008 22:21

Bumper, are you about. I saw this in unanswered threads, I can't help but maybe you can?

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/04/2008 06:44

Ria, I'm not originally from up North. I'm a Norfolk girl born and bred, then went up to university at Newcastle. I had to move away for a bit after graduation, but moved back as soon as I could get a job there. I moved in with DH (before we were married ) and we bought a house at Whitley Bay and had 5 great years there until I got this job down South which was too good to turn down so we up-sticked and moved.

Bumperlicious · 05/04/2008 08:51

Morning all

I have caught up but I can't remember anything I am afraid. DD was up 4 times again last night. She hasn't slept through in over 3 weeks. She isn't hungry she is just very upset when she was up (usually 2-4 times a night). DH and I are at the end of our tether. I'm so pissed off, this is the last weekend DH and I have off together before he goes back to work and we only have one day off together. He has gone back to bed as he was the one getting up last night. I just don't know what to do and I don't know how I am going to cope with it and being back at work. I spend the days like a zombie. She hasn't woken up this many times since she was about 6 weeks old. Arrgggghhhhhhh!

RiaisMaLarkin · 05/04/2008 09:58

morning.

bumper. no advice I'm afraid, they are sent to try us. She could be picking up that you're worried about sleep/work etc? Maybe they don't do that til they're older Lots of fresh air over the weekend!

I love Norfolk jammy, I was only talking to DH about it last night. We used to have a holiday on a boat every year when I was little (in the days when they weren'y luxury gin palaces and it didn't cost a small fortune. I would love to take the DCs but we will have to wait until they're all old enough not to drown.

Is it too much to ask that when DH gets up with the DCs (I was up with DS2 in the night) that he gives them breakfast?. He has fed baggins, who apparetly wouldn't eat, but as soon as I come downstairs and try to have my cup of tea I'm getting badgered about breakfast. Arse.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/04/2008 10:14

Poor you Bumper. No real advice. We had loads of bad nights, including some like you've described (only it was always me got up, not DH). I have found she seems better if we give her some teething granules at bedtime, but it could just be coincidence. I have found that as long as you don't go on about it all the time people at work are fairly sympathetic if I'm a bit tired.

HellHathNoFury · 05/04/2008 13:30

Bumper, no advice I'm afraid - we have been having 2-4 night wakings since day 1, I know the zombie feeling well, it's awful, poor you and DH

DS wakes because he is either:
wedged his head in the corner of his cot
missing his dummy
not feeling well
hungry

is she waking for any of those things?

lilQuidditchKel · 05/04/2008 14:11

Bumper - feeling your pain you poor thing. With 2 in the same bedroom it's a miraculous rare event when they both sleep through a whole night. It's so bad I'm actually happy when the first peep I hear from them is at 6 a.m. . I hear stories of children sleeping till 7 or even 8 alas, not in this house!!

Anyway, take a deep breath, and think through the list of things which could be waking your LO. Hot/cold? Growth spurt? Scratchy bodysuit? NIghtmare? Teeth? Tummy ache? Have a good listen for a few minutes first when she wakes up next time and try to watch unobserved if you can as well. I'd try getting out in the "daylight" (sorry this British weather leaves something to be desired!) for a good spell during the day. Limit daytime naps. Give plenty of time at bedtime for winding down - read a gentle story and keep TVs off, lights low, and sooth her to sleep nice and slowly. Make sure it's nice and dark in the room. Then, cross fingers and don't rush in straight away. Don't rush to pick her up either, try limiting the picking up and soothing by touch or whispering instead. HTH...

wish I had a cute name for DD. at home we call her cupcake. or mouse. but baggins and jamlet are much cuter
