SmoothandWilkie · 09/05/2008 06:47

Oh, meant so announce......

J HAD HIS FIRST FRUIT SHOOT YESTERDAY!!!!!!! I felt like I was giving him heroin. Sis had bought them as a treat (no added sugar ones). He loved it

I think a little perspetive is needed - is one very occasionally going to harm him??

Shall I start a chat thread about it?? Ha ha ha ha ha

eandh · 09/05/2008 07:11

mine had tescos version of fruit shoots at the picnin (only 64p for 4) but its easier than cartons (hattie squeezes them and gets soaked and bottles smaller than their beakers) with all the running around they did they must have burnt off the sugar overload

Had a funny night Ellie woke at 10pm for a wee then stubbed her toe so screamed and woke Hattie up took me till 11.30 to settle them then Ellie was talking in her sleep so kept going in and checkinh her. They are both in grumpy moods today I ummed and aarhed about phoning in sick and keeping them home but feel a bit of a fraud so am going to tell MIL that they can both have a sleep if they need it (although dh out tonight so would rather they went to bed as normal) and if they get to grumpy to ring me and I'll have to go and get them.

They look so cute today with little sundresses on, Ellie got a plait as her hair annoying her and Hattie has a little ponytail, going to get some ribbon later so I can tie a little bow around her ponytails

eandh · 09/05/2008 07:14

Oh and Hattie currently wearing size 3 sandles from Next (Ellie still in a size 8 )

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 09/05/2008 08:05

Wilkie!!!

I would rather Z had sugar in his diet than the shite they put in Fruit Shoots tbh. He drinks juice (Rocks Organic Cordial or Suma) or water or cow's milk. But he won't be drinking a Fruit Shoot while I'm warm and breathing. Z's hyper enough as it is - he doesn't need sweeteners and god knows what else running through his little system as well!

But, you know. Good for you

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 09/05/2008 08:07

Ingredients of Fruit Shoot:

Water, Strawberry juice, Flavouring, Citric acid, Acidity Regulator (Trisodium citrate E331), Preservatives (Potasssium sorbate E202, Dimethyldicarbonate E242, Sodium Benzoate E211), Vitamins (C, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, B6, D, B12), Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K) Stabiliser (Xanthan gum), Colour (Anthocyanins E163)

Nice.

vinorouge · 09/05/2008 08:35

Oh poo I just lost a message I was typing.

Rgee - thanks for offer of shoes but will pick some up for E this weekend. I sent her to nursery today in her pretty sandals what the heck. Better than hot feet in shoes. I would have just missed you in mothercare yesterday - shame.

UD - I take your point re ingredients but agree with Wilkie occasional treats ok. THink we have the sam p[roblem with cartons being squeezed as E&H. E has innocent carton samoothies now and then which she loves.

Anyway, I am feeling much calmer today. DH arrived back from footie last nigth with a choc mousse for me which did soothe my ruffled feathers somwhat.

Yesterday at my scan, cos I was on my own, I lay there umming and aahing as to whether I should ask the sex and keep it secret from DH. I decided against it though!!!

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 09/05/2008 09:13

ah - see for us, occasional treats is chocolate buttons, or chocolate milk (i think the M&S one was the one he had last time!!)

but, each to their own. I wouldn't give Z a Fruit Shoot as I hate their marketing - they market their drinks as though they're healthy, when really you'd be just as well off to give your kid Pepsi Max. The H2O stuff is worse - I mean, why wouldn't you just give your kid water ffs?

I stand by my Rocks Cordial - tis yummy! I drank a Fruit Shoot once (just to see what all the fuss was about) and felt awful afterwards. Plus they taste like shite. Having said that - I do have pictures of Z drinking out of a Fruit Shoot bottle - it's one my friend left here and I filled it with water for photo ops!!

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 09/05/2008 09:20

Right - I'm off to work now. Will check back in later for my flaming!

SmoothandWilkie · 09/05/2008 10:18

UD - put your soapbox away! I am fully aware that tis full of shite but one isn't going to kill him. He normally has cordial as he won't drink water and I would rather he was hydrated than try and force him to drink something he doesn't like.

I guess I will never be one of these mothers that studies ingredient labels!

Well, it is a beautiful day here again and I am stuck in the pro shop! Am starving and have a fridge full of chocolate next to me but am trying to resist the temptation....!!!

eandh · 09/05/2008 11:34

aaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuckity fuckity fuck I hate my job and at the moment would happily punch anyone who dares to speak to me will be back to explain when I have calmed down

Reggiee · 09/05/2008 13:25

Cup of chamomile tea for EaH

Reggiee · 09/05/2008 13:32

Been swimming this morning. First time for a year . She loved it, but it is such a pita getting them ready afterwards.

How's the tea Eah? What's happened?

Wilkie bet business has picked up this last week at the shop. IT's gone cloudy here. Probably becuase I just bouoght a paddling pool.

eandh · 09/05/2008 13:54

Thankyou for my tea, have sort of mini exploded at my branch boss so we've been for a cup of tea/coffee out of the branch as I was on verge of tears.

Basically I have found out today (one of my friends at work was at a meeting yesterday so I am not meant to know) that my salary is being transferred to another branch, this particular branch does not perform very well and my bonuses are based on branch performance(Maidstone v.v.v.v. good performers) this is because I 'cost' the company alot of money (since I have completed 10 years service I get BUPA,PHI paid by company and I am old pension scheme so non contributory but compamy pay my pension for me) as well as my 'paid' salary, all staff at Sevenoaks branch are 'new' to company thereofre they have surplus salary budget where as me and my line manager are 'old timers' so make Maidstone go overbudget. I am fuming because I cant mention it as dont want to get friend into trouble for telling me. Told my line manager that I want to give the PA role up and go back to counter and he said he'd happily have me back but someone else from branch would have to do this role and noone will wnat it because basically all I do is deal with the shitey jobs noone else can be arsed with. Though the only saving grace is when the girls are at school I can swap my hours around so I can take them and pick them up.

My branch boss is going to talk to area boss (whose PA I am) and see if there is any compromise, he knows I could provide more sales in my 2 days than one of the full timers out there at the moment (shes lazy!!) I will wait to see if I get any notification about salary transfer then will take a grievance out via union as I refuse to be transferred off Maidstone payroll when I have been here so long and I friggin work in the branch and not at Sevenoaks just to balance the bloody books and I know Maidstone will never be closed grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I am so pissed off

Sorry rant over - just bought some choc chip cookies from M&S not exactly on the WW points guide are they

laughalot · 09/05/2008 14:11

Eah shock at biccies and at the flippin idiots at the bank. As you say commitment stands for nothing, w worked at ilkeston co-op for 11 years and they werent bothered when he left we are just a number im afraid. But take it to union if its not sorted.

Pcf happy birthday for yesterday.

Wilkie I love the house and I have already seen past the decor just call me phil and kirsty off relocation relocation.

2Happy when is that shed going up my love ?

Vino stop doing all these naughty things you should be resting that bump. Hope you sorted the sandals out.

Rgee I love taking the kids swimming but hate the getting dressed part. Did you enjoy the apprentice I was so happy the ginger one got fired. Claire needs to go next do you know all people called claire are gobby .

Lizz how long until you hol ?

Ud lol lol at the anti fruit shoot brigade you go girl. Have to say aidan has the occasionally.

Booked my holiday girls im going to menorca to cala n blanes in a villa flying from manchester 20th june im so excited.

eandh · 09/05/2008 14:40

at holiday - I want to come (could you imagine Ellie and Aidan together we'd have grey hair after 24 hours)

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 09/05/2008 18:00

Wilkie - when it's really hot i take a big 2l bottle of squash for Z and top up his sports bottle thing from it as we go. It fits under the buggy nicely!

Have to say though - it's still not great as he's drinking from a sports bottle, so it's not good for his teeth! Ah well - no-one's perfect (even me!)

ratbunny · 09/05/2008 19:03

hiya everyone. We are back from sunny (or not) edinburgh. It was fab, and leaving S really wasnt as hard as I thought

pmsl at the fruit shoot! I agree Wilkie - an occasional 1 isn't going to hurt him. There are so many bad things in our food, it will be impossible to avoid them ALL, so sod it. Having said that, I am really fussy about what S has, but thats cos of his allergies and not because of me being a control freak So really, don't listen to me, cos I talk a load of shite!

pcf - belated happy birthday. Are you really only 23!

EAH - your old house nearly quadrupled in price over those 10 years. That is totally shocking. I wish we had bought a house 10 years ago, rather than in the middle of the boom.

Well, dh and I are going for a trial separation. It is his idea. I will give him a month to sort his head out then I want an answer if he is staying or going. I think he is a bit messed up at the mo, but I cant really be doing with it for much longer. Will fill you all in later....

Lizzzombie · 09/05/2008 19:30

Coooeee!

We went to Drusillas again today (I LOVE Tescos deals vouchers!) And I have to say, DJ had his first fruit shoot today too! Normally he spits out anything which isn't water or formula, but he guzzled this one right down.
I used to drink neat ki-ora and ribena though, and have never had a filling in my life.

Eah - don't let your work pi$$ you off too much. It could always be worse...you could have to deal with ultra precious first time mothers who have nothing better to do than worry about what cot set to get their PFB 8 months before it arrives!

Vino - Glad you liked the dress. I found it very flattering on me!

Rgee - What else have you got older than 23 years? I think I have an eye liner which I brought when I was in the 1st year of my A levels!! ('92)- I know thats not 23 years, but its not good is it!

UD - how is your job going? Do you get a discount on your glasses/contaacts there? And also, does one have to wear glasses to work at an opticians? I was talking to someone about this the other day.....?

Ratbunny - Big hugs, don't want to sound trite so won't say anything else xxx

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 09/05/2008 19:35

Ratbunny - i'm on msn most nights if you want to chat. xx

Lizzz - most people I know who work in optics do wear specs, yeah. Our new optom doesn't though I suspect she may not actually be properly qualified! I do get a hefty discount as well which is a bonus as my specs are sooooooo fecking expensive. Darn that genetic myopia (Urban realises no-one on the thread knows what she's talking about! )

eandh · 09/05/2008 19:42

what are you talking about urban

rats - sorry to hear the news let us know if anything we can do to help for that month and hope dh realises what he is missing when he isnt there

lizz - omg I was so one of those pfb mothers when pg with ellie think I knew all the mothercare/babies r us/local independent shops staff names

Uuuurgh dh's mate is here at mo waiting for the mini bus to turn up for 'boys night out' and they are smoking in garden and its wafting through house - yuck (strange how dh only smokes when with this person ) My parents smoke and it never bothered me when I lived at home but I hate smell now

So night in on my own - girls just gone to bed (playing in garden till 7.20 and I didnt want to be mean mummy) bet they are still up by 6am though not sure what'll we do tomorrow as radio one big weekend and local roads closed [grr] and traffic will be a nightmare, I may just be a nice Mummy and get the new pink, sparkly paddling pool out

Reggiee · 09/05/2008 20:03

Hiya Ratbunny. I saw your other thread. I can't imagine how hard it is for you atm, but you can hold your head up high as you have always put your family first. Hope the month brings what you want, and there's always someone here to listen if you want a rant.

Eah no wonder you are so f*cked off. Can't believe they can do that. Glad you're in a union - they can be so good in these sorts of situations. Enjoy the evening on your own Do you fancy jooining me with a glass of white wine. I've just cracked a bottle open....

Lal oh to be a travel agent! Post a link so I can drool?

UD why are glasses sooo expensive? Recently got a couple of new pairs (one pair was so not me - a red pair). Wish I knew what all the numbers on the prescription meant. I have shit eyesight and prescription of -8 but it means nothing.

Lizz when you purchased your mascara, I was working during Uni hols at Mothercare dealing with hormonal women and their pfb's . I do still have Now That's What I Call Music 7 on cassette which I think was released in 1985.

Dragonhart · 09/05/2008 20:25

Actually, I read it was good for children to occationaly have 'bad' food in their diet as it helps them deal with the 'high' of the additives and also makes their digestive system stonger. Was in a mag though so who knows.

I am pretty paranoid about additives, colours and preservatives though. Possibly too much for Luke but when he is happy drinking water rather than juice and having chocolate rather than sweets, then I am going to carry on. He will soon be at school and wanting all the crap that he can eat so will make the most of it now.

Ok, so how many of your los have had Macdonalds yet...?

Thanks for the replies about Ruth not walking. Susie, sure her hips are ok, she did have that ankle problem, where they said it was 'lax' so maybe just taking her longer to strengthen them. Think she will do it soo though, she is cruising alot more this week and today she stood up from sitting and stayed standig for a few seconds.

2happy- That is interesting because my dsis did every thing later than me and my brother. TRhe more people I talk to about it , the more who way like you that is is usually the second behind. I always wanted to be like my sister and drove her mad following her about so maybe that is why!

Susie- Ruth sleeps in the day at about 11-1230 (or lunch) probably about 5 out of 7 days. If we are home she goes down but if she doesnt have her nap anymore than 2 days in a row, she is a nightmare to get to sleep.

Then she sleeps from 7- about 730-8, or when Luke wakes her up (feckin hate the early light mornings!!). If she wakes up it is normally because of her teeth, or she is hot or cold so not for long. THink she has started having nightmares though as she has woken up screaming afew times recently.

Urban- Ruth eats;
Breakfast; Wheetabix/shredded wheat bitesize with a handful or rasins
Lunch; sandwich (about 3/4 of a 'round' made of two slices), fruit (banana, or apple normally)
Snack; biscuit and milk
Tea; A bowl of tea, about the size of my fist, then milk pudding
Bedtime; Milk

Luke always stuffs himself, puts on a bit of weight, then has a massive growth spurt. If I have another boy who eats like him this time, I will have to get another mortgage!

Wilkie- I would wait to tell them as Lizz said, you never know how long it will take and no point in getting your landlady worried if you dont have to. Oh and my due date is 28th, 25th or 26th depending on whether I look at my last period, or the two scans (I never know which is right!)

Vino- Hope you are ok and glad all is well with the scan.

MrsPink- Congratulations!

Ratbunny- You sound very stong about it all. Hope all works itself out. xxx

Sorry, cant remember any more, but hope everyone else is ok. xxx

ratbunny · 09/05/2008 20:58

Hiya again - I will be on and off this thread all night, hope noone minds

dragon - the 28thish of this month? if it is (I havent read the whole thread to find out ) where on earth has the time gone?

I was saying about S's not yet having had a fruit shoot. Well, he has tasted Dr Pepper and Beer, so we're not all holier than thou!! It's a bit of a relief really that he cant have chocolate and sweets, as I'm worried about him being allergic to all the E numbers. He would probably be fine, but I dont want to try it.

Having said that, he is currently eating cheese. He doesnt like it though, which is if you ask me! His daily diet is something like:
7ish - milk (when he wakes up)
8ish - 1 round of bread with marmite or jam or just marge, fruit
10 ish snack - usually those organix biscuits / cereal bars / carrot sticks and fruit
12 ish - lunch - a sandwich or pasta and sauce or fishfinger / burger / suasage, potato and veg
12.30 - 2.30 nap
milk when he wakes up
5ish dinner - a small bowl (with a spoon!), fruit
7 milk and bed

I have him well trained at the mo.

I think dh is going through some kind of depression thing tbh. He moans that I am not spontaneous (yeah, I have a baby to deal with), our life is 'twee' and that I am always in control of everything. Well if he took control of things instead of leaving them for me to deal with, then I wouldnt be! Part of me hopes that he will come to his senses while he is away, and the other part really cant be arsed anymore. It will be weird being alone in the evenings - I dont really go out much, but its different when you can't.

It leaves a bit of a problem with the house sale and purchase we ar going on with though. He wants to pull out and sell up, but I think let it continue, we can always pull out of the purchase (wasting loads of money...) but I am NOT selling this place and going into some flat because he wants out. We will have to deal with OUR house later on. Not sure what to do tbh cos I cant afford mortgage repayments on my own, and I wouldnt get a mortgage on just my income.

Ho hum...

Dragonhart · 09/05/2008 21:02

Sorry, not this month! August so a while to go yet.

ratbunny · 09/05/2008 21:09

Thought i'd entered a time warp!
