We had an offer accepted on a house!!! £10k below asking price. SOOOOOOOOOO excited. Just need to tell landlady now that we are breaking our tnancy agreement.

However, after the lovely local yoof swearing at me and DH through our front window last night I couldn't care less what she says!

Lizzzombie · 07/05/2008 16:59

woo hoo! how exciting! Have you got a link to post so I/we can be nosey!

eandh · 07/05/2008 17:34

Fantastic news how long were you tied into the house you are in at the mo, will you lose any money? Whats the chain like on the one you have offered on?

Sorry loads of questions there but am so pleased for you

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 07/05/2008 18:43

great news Wilkie!

SmoothandWilkie · 07/05/2008 18:55

This is the house here

The photos don't do it justice. It is old fashioned decoration wise and the kitchen needs replacing but it is a very family feeling house! I am really excited.

Our lease isn't up until September on this godawful house but we are going to leave and offer to pay the rent up to September. I don't think the landlady would let us leave without continuing to pay - do you?

There is no chain on the house we are buying so we are aiming at 6 weeks. It doesn't seem real at the moment and I am waiting for something awful to happen and it to all fall through!

eandh · 07/05/2008 19:29

Looks fab Wilkie - love the carpets (assume you'll be keeping those) you never know the landlord might be able to get another tennant quickly and do a deal?

2Happy · 07/05/2008 19:35

Wilkie says - Aye it's alright up that part of the valley, you get a grand view. Helpful as ever . Loosh, of course, would be your gal since she woks in Slaithwaite (1.3 miles away acc to the specs).

Kw3 - glad you had a good weekend. I'm away for 2 day course tomorrow - and fully anticipate ds2 not to notice he's missed feeds. Also undecided re: feeds. He's now been bfed as long as ds1 was, and is definitely less interested in it than he was, yet nowhere near self-weaning. And I can;t bring myself to stop. Sad bint.

Restful sleep vibes to the ealy morning crew!

2Happy · 07/05/2008 19:36

Loosh, clearly, is not a chef in a Chinese takeaway, and works rather than woks in Slawwwayte (as they say down there). Sticky r kwy.

2Happy · 07/05/2008 19:37

Key. D'oh.

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 07/05/2008 20:34

Wilkie - you could either tell her you're leaving and forfeit your deposit. or just leave and forfeit your deposit.

SmoothandWilkie · 07/05/2008 20:48

But how would we stand legally with having to pay the rest of the rent? It would be about three months worth. Could she take us to court?

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 07/05/2008 21:14

How much is your deposit? We had to pay 1.5 months' worth for the deposit. You could say to her just keep that and see what she says.

In theory yes, she could take you to court for breaking the contract - but I very much doubt she would in practice.

3 beds and a dining room too! You're so posh!

I'd not even tell the land lady yet. When we found our house and were renting although there was no chain on either side it still took 8 weeks to complete and we bumped into the landlord as we were moving stuff out. ! (they weren't a very nice lettings agency) they kept the deposit obviously and we left it clean and tidy. No hassle at all.
If you told her you were hoping to move out in August/July or whatever, and it took longer then you may end up stuck halfway if it takes longer. IYKWIM?
Anyways..looks lovely!

Happy Birthday PCF! 23??? I have knickers older than you! xxx

Reggiee · 08/05/2008 19:10

Lizz - pmsl at your knickers comment. Although, I thought along a similar vein - pCF I could almost be your grandmother . Happy birthday! Have a fab (rest of the) day. I remember what was number one when you were born....I was at secondary school....ummm...think I need a lie down.

Wilkie great news about the house . Can't wait for the house warming

2H pmsl at the thought of Loosh woking. Enjoy your course btw!

Loosh how's the knitting going?

Pcf forgot to say how lovely your photos were. I love wedding piccies.

DH out on the lash tonight. No food in the house (I am Mother Hubbard it would appear). Just had two (stale) crumpets and a bag of crisps.

Reggiee · 08/05/2008 19:11

PCF i meant to say mother not grandmother. Am not that old. Honest.

eandh · 08/05/2008 19:16

Happy Birthay PCF - hope you have had a lovely day

Rgee - your dinner sounds interesting boring okay, why didnt you order takeaway??

Wilkie - no help re rent thing sorry

Lizz - Is DJ better now?

Had a lovely day few Mums at preschool suggested picnic at park after school, so came home from drop off Hattie napped made us all lunch then spent from 12 to 3 in park, Ellie loved it as she had loads of her preschool mates there and Hattie loved it as there was ample food for her to chomp on Hattie and Eddas ds were walking around almost getting knocked out by the swings etc but looking so cute together. One of the Mums suggested we do it once a week when the summer holidays are here which will be a lifesaver.

DH out on 'boys' night tomorrow night and future SIL and I are going out for meal and cinema on saturday night (think we're going to see 'forgetting sarah marshall')

vinorouge · 08/05/2008 20:11

Hey Wilkie - top news about the house. How exciting! Bet that has cheered you up. I like the look of it.

Lizz - I picked your dress up from the post office today. Thanks so much cos its lovely!

PCF - congrats.....belatedly

Rgee- shame on you having no food. Had you not organised Tesco in time? SAying that we are low on food but not really bothered cos I'm not here tomorrow so DH will have to fend for himself. Fed p of planning everything.

Vino has had a typically busy day off and am more tired now than I am after a days work. The good news is that part of the dashing about was to hospital where a scan said baby looks fine - hurah - and is head down so I hope it stays that way. I'm not here tom night cos I'm on a hen weekend (well foing for the quiet friday night meal rather than the boozy late night out dancing etc on sat). It will end up costing a lot and I'm so tired I could do without it but I'll drag myself there. Been invited to a family wedding that says no children but it will be when the baby is born so I can't not take him/her cos of feeding and then its mean not to take Ellen. My dad says he doesn't want to go if Ellen doesn;t go and its his brothers son who is getting married. I can see his brother saying 'well none of you come then'. Plus I sold Ellen's pliko on ebay for the second time and yet again the buyer hasn't contacted me. I just tried phoning them and their tel numebr doesn't accept incoming calls. FFS FFS FFS FFS I am so mad. I AM SOOOOOOOO MAD ABOUT IT. Feel as though I am wasting so much time trying to sell the stupid thing thats been boxed up for a month anyway.

And I queued up in mothercare / clarks bit for over half an hour today so I could check E's shoes size and buy her some sandals. She isn't a 4 yet so they don;t blumin make them small enough. I was so fed up that I walked out crying and never thought to just buy some mothercare sandals or go to next to buy some that she could wear for playing in. I've got her some pretty white ones for wearing with pretty dresses but don;t really want her to wear them for playing at nursery.

I could go on an on tonight, best stop before I bore you all.

Oh, but E&H your picnic get together sounded great

I LOVED THE APPRENTICE THIS WEEK!!!!

eandh · 08/05/2008 20:15

(((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))) vin, sounds as if you need tghem tonight

this was 1st house me and dh bought together for £57k and we sold it 2 years later for £87k (2001) we should have kept it, rented and now sold and we wouldnt have a mortgage sob sob sob sob

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 08/05/2008 20:23

£57k??

we could buy that outright if it was still that price and house prices aren't fucking stupid!

Vino - I got Z some sandals for playing in from Tescos. think they were a fiver or something. He mostly goes barefoot anyway as he won't keep shoes on - strange child.

vinorouge · 08/05/2008 20:24

Thank you E&H

Think I'm going to straighten up and get ready for bed

eandh · 08/05/2008 20:26

I know UD but they have spent loads on it as it wasnt anywhere that nice when we sold it, plus parking a friggin nightmare and its very close to town centre so not ideal and downstairs very very small so couldnt be tehre with the girls (making myself feel better )

Reggiee · 08/05/2008 20:33

Aw Vino. Sounds like you've been tooooo busy again. FFS who has phones that don't do incoming?? Outgoing I could understand, but incoming??
I was at Mothercaqre today after picking P up. We also went to get her sandals, and there was a massive queue (about 4pm), so I didn't bother getting her measured. Tbh they didn't have much in stock in the small sizes. P#s current shoes are 3 1/2s so I got her a pair size 4 jelly sandals. Let me know if you want these VIno, and I'll post them to you / through your letterbox, and go get P some more on Saturday.

Apprentice was great wasn't it! Pleased at the ginger Jen who got kicked off too.

Eah - ahhh...if only we had bought houses and kept them from years ago! I still laugh when the in laws talk about buying their house for a couple of grand. Makes you wonder how much houses will cost when our lo's are buying them

SmoothandWilkie · 08/05/2008 21:32

3.5 shoes?!?!?! I just bought J some SIZE 6 Baby Gap Jesus Creeper (is that PC?) sandals. Love em. He looks such a little dude with his quarter length combats and hoody t-shirt!

What a beautiful day. I have been in the garden at my sister's with her and the DTs all day. The kids had a great time playing with the water table. J has learnt new words: plane (they are on Manchester Airport flight path), sky, garden and kitchen. So cute! His legs are covered in scratches and bruises cos they were running round naked all day (unfortunately my sis wouldn't allow me to strip off and join in )

VINOROUGE - will you please take things a little steadier young lady! Don't make me come round there and berate you!!!! (Wilkie getting very excited at at the prospect of cuddling a little tiny baby again...can't wait for you to pop!)

PCF - wedding pics are lovely. Max looks SO cute.

EAH and I were talking the other day, can you believe that we have all been 'friends' for about 2 years now! How mad is that??!!

Apprentince was fantastic! So glad big chin has gone.

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 08/05/2008 22:26

Z has got Clarkes' sandals which a kindly MNer sent me! he looks very cute in them...
