Pesha · 08/03/2008 18:17

Hello

We have our new car, picked it up yesterday afternoon! After spending over an hour frantically cleaning the pug inside and out they didnt even look at it But we have our new car and its lurvely!!!! Dp wants to marry it

Eddas · 08/03/2008 18:28

great news about the new car pesha

tis all quiet atm here dd has been asleep for 1/2 already and have just put ds in his cot. DH out as he and his borhter took his newphews to watch a charlton match. Should be home anytime now.

Quite nice being alone for a bit

Washing machine has been on all day and I still have one load left Where does it all come from Good job it's not hanging it out weather

Right off to pick up ds' toys

Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:30

Lol at dp wanting to marry the car Pesha - what sort is it, and more importantly, what colour is it?!

Also feeling a bit blah here, don't know why. Need something to look forward to I guess. Weather poo, maybe that's it. Think I'm feeling very blah about the house too...we were on the market and were looking for somewhere new, but we're staying put now as couldn't find anything remotely suitable that didn't cost some unbelieveably ridiculous amount. Have had some plans drawn up for a small extension and some works to the house, just need to get planning permission and find a builder. Anyone know any good builders??? Every one I ring up never returns my calls - are they so busy they can afford to turn away work? Really pissing me off TBH.

Also feeling blah with the house as went round to one of the mum's from E's school last night and I have serious house-envy . I love all houses in the village where she goes to school, but never, ever think we could afford to live there. I just have to suffer from severe every time I visit one of her friend's houses.

Soooooo, that's me really. Cooking something dull out of chicken tonight as we have bugger all food left in the house. Might start watching a film and fall asleep on the sofa. What happened to going out and having fun on a Saturday night? Hmmm hmmmm, that's what I want to know.

Eddas · 08/03/2008 18:31

DC idoc they spoil everything

Where abouts in the country are you? I have clients that are builders but not much use if you're no where near me

Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:34

Eddas I'm in the Guildford/Aldershot area, on the Surrey / Hampshire border.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 18:35

oooh idoc i used to live there i think - college town

OP posts:
Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:36

OMG SPB - my Gran used to live on College Road!

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 18:37

i used to live on branksome hill road

OP posts:
Eddas · 08/03/2008 18:38

not that far away, but probably too far. We have alot of clients from tonbridge/hastings, but not too much further.

You could ask on here if anyone knows a good builder in your area. Much better to get a recommendation rahter than pick from the Yellow Pages

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 18:38

i think college road led off it? Is that right?

OP posts:
Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:38

Wow, that runs parallel to College Road, how weird! When were you there, and why???

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 18:38

And if it did, I would imagine it still does!

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 18:39

i worked down there for a year, think I had a friend who lived on college road, name is familiar and I used to pick him up on way to pub!!

OP posts:
Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:49

Oh how funny. My gran lived on College Road for many, many years, until about 1993. I went to school in Owlsmoor and my parents still live in Sandhurst. I met dh in College Town, at the military academy there, so the area has very strong ties for me.

And now you know every detail of my life.

CaptainDippy · 08/03/2008 18:50

Just about to shepherd DDs 1 & 2 to bed (They are both knackered - me too), DD3 already sleeping. Need to pack to go my mum's tomorrow

Maveta · 08/03/2008 18:52

lol SPB at your car seat advice.. his stays in the car and going out to get it is not an option besides I just know N would not have any of it. My mum suggested taking him for a drive but he's a light sleeper and always wakes up when you take him out of the car, so that's a non starter. He does come in with us when he is terrible but although I am not averse to co-sleeping in theory, it doesn't work for us in practice, none of us sleep very well. Me particularly and when he is having a really rotten night I have the scratches to prove it

He still sleeps fine in the day, so he slept 8.30am-10.30am and then another hour from about 1.30-2.30pm. Mum is coming over tonight so we can have a break and I'll be clinging to her ankles to get her to stay until he's def. down, she's a night owl so even if that is 1am I know she won't leave us [love my mum]

Pesha - yay re. the car

Elkie, SPB, IDOC, sorry you are feeling a bit blah.. hope you all have plentiful stores of chocolate in (or IDOC are you still only dreaming of it??).

oooggs your twins sound so big! (in milestones, not necessarily size! lol)

Hi Eddas, CD, Caz and everyone else of course..

We've been busy formulating all kinds of life plans over here which makes me feel good, having an idea of what we are aiming towards. Dh and his siblings have sold their mum's house (which they all bought together years ago) and bought her a new one (they are such a good family) but our share in the new one is less so we will get money on the old one which should provide a much needed house deposit. Found out that we have to reinvest within 2 years or a large % goes to the taxman. But I think that's a good thing, will give us the push we need to get onto the property ladder at last. That was just a random piece of news

Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:52

Eddas I have asked for friend's recommendations for builders and have a few numbers, one of whom is refusing to call me back. I am trying to go by word of mouth but am running out out options. My next move is to try the Checkatrade website as that has lots of real feedback about a whole variety of trades. It is scary, I know how important it is to find a builder that we can trust.

Idreamofchocolate · 08/03/2008 18:55

Helloo Dippy and Maveta {{waves madly}}
