I have a sort of 5 year plan which I'm in the middle of - can't remember when I started but it was by my 40th birthday and I don't think I'm going to make that deadline (next year, gulp!) but I am persevering with the plan. First step was to have a baby, then return to work and try again, and it took 9 months to get pg with D, but we didn't really do much active TTC, just stopped avoiding pregnancy. Then I'd probably have to go back to work for 6 months, full or part time, and then we'll move to Leeds.
I'm hoping to be able to reduce the mortgage as Leeds wages are lower, and it will be a financial gamble, but as we've been quite lucky in some ways, I think we will be able to work something out. I have to set myself a cut-off date for when to start preparing to move anyway if I don't get pregnant again. If one of us gets made redundant then I might take that as an opportunity to leave London sooner.
But there are of course other complications - dp's mum's move to a residential home in a village near Kings Lynn is probably the biggest (they've agreed to her staying long term in the one in the village she was brought up in, with other residents she recognises from her childhood), as I do worry about being so much further from her in travel time.
