Pesha · 08/03/2008 19:21

Ooo its got busy all of a sudden!!

IDOC - its a Lexus IS200 S and its Black and shiny and lovely!! Bit scary to drive as I've got uysed to being sat up high in the 307. Also its rear wheel drive so steering is much lighter, accelerator pedal is really sensitive and its alot more powerful!

Maveta - fab news about having money for a house deposit!

phone just rung back in a bit

oooggs · 08/03/2008 19:51

Katy ? big job on at dh?s work at the mo and deadlines and payment lines to be met ? he is shattered, but no where near as tired as me

Ace news about the car Pesha sounds lovely

Maveta ? remember dts are one of the eldest on thread and have an enthuastic big brother to copy also good news on money/house front

dippy - have fun at your mums

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2008 20:12

Pesha - congrats on the lovely car!

Eddas - not dull don't you know we need every little domestic detail?

Maveta - how exciting to be buying a house! Is there much on the market or will it be a case of hanging on till something good comes up?

Dippy - have a lovely time away.

Oooggs - oh dear to dh's work - that sounds very hard on you all - will he get time in lieu or overtime?

IDOC - good luck in your search for a builder

SPB - hope you've cooked that tea by now - I haven't done ours yet but we always eat late

Well mortgage man came this morning and everything sounds ok - so that's one more thing done. Am still wracked with anxiety that our buyer will change his mind - but I'm learning to live with it! Dd2 has been a bit off colour again today and I went into to town leaving dh with all 3. (He's away all next week as well - I need some 'me' time!) Anyway he put B upstairs for a nap but not in her sleeping bag and I don't think she slept at all - she was as cross as a ferret all evening She's gone down now so we'll see what sort of night we have

oooggs · 08/03/2008 20:15

oh we (me, ds1 and dts in double buggy with friend & her ds in his P&T) have been on the telly today - local news on a support march through our town centre about making Saltash plastic carrier bag free!

here

westcountry live thingy at 02:27 minutes!!!

we are at the back of the march!!!!

elkiedee · 08/03/2008 20:29

I've been to the library this afternoon to get help learning to knit again from the lovely woman who runs a knitting group there - adults and kids turning up all the time. The kids are much better than me, I'm still trying to grasp casting on and being tired of course doesn't help!

maveta - did you sell your wonderoos?

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 20:58

hi everyone
Well IDOC I now feel I know you, even though I still don't really
Maveta, exciting news about the property ladder, didn't you say at one point you were going to move back?
oooggs, you have reminded me it will be birthday's very soon. As someone else said I think WCL's L was first (anyone remember her post? I think it was her...something along the lines of "Anyone have a baby last night? I did!") WHen are the twins 1? Can't believe some of the April babies are turning 1 this month (even though that makes no sense!)
well what a ramble
Hi Pesha, NL, Dippy, elkie, anyone else...

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 21:16

Wow quite a few then, I didn't realise there were so many in March.
We get our new carpet on the 20th - does that compare? And I have an extremely bad mummy confession to make - anyone want to hear?

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 08/03/2008 21:35

I want to hear!

1st birthdays already - it's a terrible cliche - but where has the time gone?

Eddas · 08/03/2008 21:42

i want to know too

lots of milestone birthdays in my family this year.

Ds is one
Dad is 60
Nan is 80
I'm 30

dd started where she left off last night and has been a bit up and down. I think it's overtiredness which makes no sense but anyway i'm sure that's it as she's otherwise fine. She was making random blatherings last night, one of which was

DD: aaaaaaargh

Pesha · 08/03/2008 21:48

Lol Eddas

I want to know too SPB!!

Eddas how strange - my ds also 1 (obviously!), my dad is 60 next week and I will be 30 28 at the end of the year! And you live in my home town! How olds your mum?! Have you got a sister?!?!

I also hadnt realised how many babies are turning 1 this month. It is a cliche NL but its true, it really has gone so quickly!

Eddas · 08/03/2008 21:50

ooo spooky pesha i do have a sister and a brother(she's older, he's younger) Mum would be 56 this year

Eddas · 08/03/2008 21:50

SPB tell us

elkiedee · 08/03/2008 21:56

Come on SPB, fess up!

Eddas · 08/03/2008 22:03

I think she must've finished folding the washing

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2008 22:07

sorry was arguing about money
T is lending us the money to buy new carpet - well he's getting one too!!

OP posts:
Eddas · 08/03/2008 22:11

that's not being a bad mummy spb. That's being sensible. I had thought of doing that to buy a much needed new bed for us but sadly both of their savings are in the trust funds so can't touch them at all. But then again that's why i put them all in there

Were you arguing with dh? I hate f@>:ing money causes more problems than anything else

elkiedee · 08/03/2008 22:24

What Eddas said re carpet money.

A little bit of money given to D is actually in my mortgage account at the moment, but that's partly because when I get round to opening a cash savings account for him it will be easier to write a cheque for his money from there than from my day to day bank account. And most of the givers would have been equally happy to be told I'd used their money for clothes/toys/books/baby equipment for him.

Hope you're ok SPB (re arguing).

NorthernLurker · 08/03/2008 22:24

better to borrow from the children than acquire more debt

When the mortgage chap had gone this morning I said to dh 'shall we have the money row now then and get it over with' He said there was no need - and we have indeed avoided it so far - first time for 10 years I must remember the pre-emptive strike tactic next time!

Eddas · 08/03/2008 22:44

why is our thread so quiet these days

i've been looking at other threads on here but not too much going on. Managed to be on here for over an hour though how does that always happen

Pesha · 08/03/2008 23:19

Eddas sorry that was a bit of tactless of me. I think my mum is going to be 57 but I only know that because I know she's just 3 days younger than dp's mum and he said she was born in '51! My sister is 32, birthday was on 17th feb and I just bought her birthday present today I'm rubbish!!

SPB - not bad at all - M and N bought our floor for us! Had carpet in the lounge that was hideous after toilet training N and beige carpet, black dog and dc do not go well together! Had been living with the red concretey crap in hallway for 3 years since moving in and stained and broken floorboards in dining room so raided their savings to get laminate throughout. Also borrowed some to pay vet's fees last year. Feel very guilty but TBH its things that benefit all of us and we need. Have to set up standing order to start paying it all back now I'm working. Also we know (without being too morbid) that they will more than likely inherit a few more very large sums from my grandpa and dp's grandparents who are all very well off and very old! That sounds awful but hope ykwim, they will still have savings when they reach an age where they need it. Which is more than I ever had!! My mum had to cash in my savings policy to save us from losing the house after my dad left and property prices crashed and I dont resent her for it much

CaptainDippy · 08/03/2008 23:36

Glad it is not just us - we've borrowed various bits of cash from DD 1&2 DD3 doesn't even have a savings account yet
