Sexonlegs · 11/03/2008 12:16

Sorry - pants typing in my post!!

Kneehighinnappies · 11/03/2008 12:49

Hello all, just a quick note to let you know that unfortunatly mn towers have said no to my idea, ho hum. I will however be starting up a facebook group, so all of you with facebook please join up and invite pregnant friends or friends with young children.
It's not just testing products there are many more aspects that need people for so I think it will be well worth doing.

As for the magazine with little old me in it tis on sale now, and you get a free baby spoon with it

mammyjo · 11/03/2008 13:22

That's a shame KHIN. I would have been up for the testing of products, love a freebie!!

SOL, I had a chat with my boss last Thursday and she was ok about it, just told me she felt "let down". I felt like a teenager when your dad says "I am not angry, I am disappointed" eek! I could see where she was coming from as most of the other senior people were away, but she couldnt get that I had covered it. Blah blah blah! Anyway, the long and the short of it is that we are on good terms again, so that's ok, and she did say that I shouldn't feel I can't ask if something like that comes up again. Phew! Glad I wasn't around the beginning of the week though as I think it may have been a different story!

I am off today then working Weds, Thurs, Fri, 10 hour days so wont see F much until the weekend , except for the overnight feeding which seems to have started again though! She is feeding like a fool, glad really as I could see she had lost weight from being poorly.

Ange, how is Izzy today? Hope she is a bit better

NL, any news on the job?

Maveta, cant help with the bug thing I am afraid, not a clue! Hope you resolve it though

See you later xxx

Pesha · 11/03/2008 13:23

KHIN - boo hiss to mn towers Love ya really mn!!
How are things going with the house KHIN?

Hi SOL, very of the child free time, though not so much of the chores!

Have someone coming to survey the house tomorrow to see if any repairs need doing etc and it is a tip! Really should get on...in a minute!

Wheres Dippy gone?!?

Bramshott - I am tempted to take his shoes back although probabaly abit late now hes actually worn them to school! His have a hole in so really had to get new ones and the guy in the clearance shop was saying 'hmm no its a bit lose around the ankles here' or 'oh no thats too tight across the toe', and as you say you cant really say 'oh thats ok, for £18 I dont mind if they fit properly or not!!' So had to go and spend twice that. Oh well they should last him until the end of the school year now as there is plenty growing room

Made chilli last night and just had left overs on a jacket spud - yummy!!

Oh and I discovered yesterday that Dylan has one of his big back molars come through at the top, so that'll explain the grumpiness and clinginess last week then! He's much happier now, although 'mumumum' is becoming a regular call now as he has discovered it gets much better results than just a general whinge, its much harder to ignore a whingy baby when they're actually calling you by name!!

Pesha · 11/03/2008 13:25

Hi MJ Glad your boss was ok.

Lol at feel disappointed in you, I say that to dd when she lies to me

mammyjo · 11/03/2008 13:31

It really did make me feel like a naughty little girl

AngeG · 11/03/2008 14:31

Hello

How is everyone?

KHIN - Sorry MN towers said no I'm still interested though!

MJ - Sorry about your boss, it's horrible when they say things like that. Glad you're back on good terms now! Sorry F feeding through the night again, but as you say important for her to put more weight on!

Pesha - Arse to expensive shoes! Dippy is at her mums I think. Good luck tidying up!!

Bramshott - Yes got text from Dippy, I haven't replied yet, Jake and Izzy have a party at 2.15pm so not sure we can fit it in

SOL - of child free time. Although I've only got Izzy here.

She is much better today and is eating pretty well again! Hooray!!

Have made yummy flapjacks today, now they are tempting me from the kitchen, may not be any left by the time DS and DH come home

AngeG · 11/03/2008 14:33

Knew there was something I'd forgotten, Maveta sorry I can't help with the bites, hope you manage to find out what they are!

NorthernLurker · 11/03/2008 16:23

Hi all

Been to baby group today then came all the way home to see if there was any post from the solicitor and/or job news and there was neither! I'm feeling really annoyed about the job now - I know they were interviewing yesterday and the fact that I haven't had a call is a pretty clear indication to me that I haven't got it. I just want to know for definate! I think they have probably offered it to somebody and are waiting for them to accept.

SOL - don't talk to me about April birthdays! Our entire family just about is jammed into March/April. There's mum, me, Grandma, my sister and dd1 and dd3! The last 2 are just a day apart as well.

Mammyjo - glad you got that sorted although you could do without the whole disappointed thing couldn't you!

Ange - glad Izzy is feeding better

Bramshott - don't be about puree - we're still big on puree and porridge here! B will had small lumps of veg etc and baby pasta and couscous. She will also eat toast, yorkshire pudding, pitta bread with her hands (and biscuits - shush-don't tell!)But if you give her a larger piece of food eg scrambled egg - she is Not Happy!

Maveta - no idea about the bites but I bumped the thread anyway!

AngeG · 11/03/2008 17:24

Where is everyone?

Hi NL - Irritating not to have heard from either. I hate it when that happens! Wow you have a busy birthday time!

I agree don't be about purees. We're still doing a lot of puree. Izzy point blank refuses puree with lumps, but will happily eat most lumpy things with her hands (including biscuits) I worry that she doesn't eat enough at the best of times, so I tend to give her food to eat with her fingers and then shovel puree in as well!

NorthernLurker · 11/03/2008 17:33

Small - update - spoke to estate agent who has spoken to buyer. He does want a survey - as I would expect - and is getting on to arranging that. So - that's good - I just want that bit to be over and then we'll know where we are!

cazboldy · 11/03/2008 18:23

Hi all

Elkie - Molly looks like that aswell. she just stands up, lets go and falls over I (unlike the rest of you it seems do give Molly juice, mainly because she pinches Charlie's all the time anyway, so I just get them both a cup of the same iyswim

Oooggs and Eddas - hope you get good news about your lo's schools

Pesha - my ds1 used to have feet like that. One lady even suggested buying 2 pairs so that he had a shoe to fit each foot!
Have you got a shop that sells hush puppies shoes near you? They have coloured insoles that go in so you can have like an orange one and a blue one for example to make them custom fit! They are a little bit more expensive (usually about £35) but last for ages, and you can easily check to see if they are outgrowing them by taking the insole out of the shoe and standing them on it.

KHIN - shame about the testing

NL - glad things are moving (if a bit slowly) about the job not letting you know though

Maveta - sorry I haven't had a chance to look at your bites thread - will get onto that later

Teacher i saw today was very positive, and thinks we have a very good case for appeal, and told me to go right ahead, so feeling a little bit more hopeful about all of that, though a bit daunted......

hello to Ellie, Ange, SOL, MJ, Dooby and anyone else that I missed out

NorthernLurker · 11/03/2008 18:34

Caz - that's good news about the possible appeal then - why don't you start a thread in Education if you need some tips/support?

cazboldy · 11/03/2008 18:47

I did before NL, but only got a couple of replies.

It's Ok though (i think) I think we can do it. the teacher today was really nice. He used to teach me (and dh) and could remember me being pg with James. His teacher has offered to write a letter supporting us, and so has ds2's teacher, so i am going to ask dd1's aswell to get a full house

He said he thinks we stand a better than 50% chance, so it's worth at least having a go!

elkiedee · 11/03/2008 19:42

Hi all

KHIN, I suspect MN are wary of some of the reactions to more commercial stuff, but I'll look out for the fb group.

D is so determined to stand up at the moment, but every time he lets go of things he falls - and some of those times of course he hurts himself and cries. And then he howls because we're holding him back... crazy little creature.

NL, sorry you're having to wait to know about so many things, hope you get some good news about something soon.

Caz, good luck with the appeal.

Hi to everyone else who's about, and thanks for responses about the juice, I do like to know what everyone else is doing!

Maveta · 11/03/2008 20:02

good luck caz, i'm glad you've had some positive encouragement and hope it all gets resolved quickly and painlessly

still a mystery as to which bug is eating us but just assuming it's fleas for the sake of argument. poor N has loads of bites although they don't seem to be bothering him. We've had quite the impromptu spring clean and now just have to hope it worked.

went to find out about a mortgage today and I have to say I just do not see house buying being the right financial decision for us. I just cannot see the sense in it, I really can't. We'd be looking at paying about 500? more per month in mortgage repayments for a modest 2 bed flat (similar to where we are but probably in the city as the village where we live is quite high demand). And that's without insurance, maintenance etc. that comes with home ownership. I truly truly can't see what we would get out of it. Am now thinking we should look at investing the money and sitting tight on rental. siiiigh.

Pesha · 11/03/2008 20:14

Caz - thanks for that, last time I tried him in hush puppies they werent wide enough but that was a year or 2 ago and his feet are slimming down a bit, well one of them os anyway Will try them next time, specially if I could find some in the sale!! Good luck with the schools appeal and glad that things are seeming a little more positive

Ange - glad Izzy doing well today.

I know I read lots earlier but cannot remember a thing of it

SIL texted dp earlier to ask if we're still looking for a house exchange. Her brother lives in Wincanton and wants to move to my town in the summer. I think we're actually quite interested, I've lived in Wincanton before and its a nice little town, bit closer to dp's work and his family. And more countryside around. Problem is now I'm getting all excited and I want to see their house NOW and have them see ours and get a definite decision ASAP!! I dont mind waiting to move, would be easier actually, but I want to know if we are or not right now!

House tidying went quite well, still not great but good enough and alot better than it was!

Eddas · 11/03/2008 20:24

evening everyone

Eddas · 11/03/2008 21:23

help! I need to know if I'm being silly!

Sexonlegs · 11/03/2008 21:25

Evening!

Ange, really pleased Izzy is on the mend. It is awful when they are poorly isn't it, esp when they are little to start with. Dreadful news about your friends baby. How absolutely dreadful.

Caz, sounds promising re the school appeal. Keeping everything crossed for you.

NL, hope you get some good news soon. You deserve it

Pesha, what about the job though???? I remember when Wincanton used to have an Express Dairy office - the good old days...

MJ, glad things are ok with work. Ikwym re the "disappointed" chat though. Hope relations are back to normal.

Brain now emptied.

Watched Holby tonight and cried through most of it. Anyone else see it?

StealthPolarBear · 11/03/2008 21:33

hi everyone
Sorry to hear babies are still ill
Don't give juice here, T absolutely loves water and I think would drink it all day if he could! So no need. Give snacks when I remember but he is still a skinny little thing so I do it deliberately to try to chub him up a bit
NL - at our place you get called almost immed if you're unsuccessful. If you're in the running they now have to wait for references so it takes quite a bit longer - this seems to be a fairly new rule.
T has had a chesty cough and an incredibly runny nose for the last few days - does anyone know how to wipe a nose without actually touching it??? He hates having his nose wiped so much that he howls when I do it - leading to more snot so it's a never ending process!!
Right I MUST have an early night tonight!

OP posts:
elkiedee · 11/03/2008 21:34

SOL, yes I watched Holby. What a high death rate and terrible things happening to family members that hospital has. Apparently it's on tomorrow as well.

AngeG · 11/03/2008 21:35

Hi SOl

Haven't watched Holby yet, have sky plussed it for tomorrow, because DH is watching football

Pesha - Good luck with the possible house swap. Sounds great.

Caz - Positive news about the appeal. Good luck.

Forgotten everything else.

Off to bed soon xx

Sexonlegs · 11/03/2008 21:50

It's part 2 tomorrow, so I am getting a shed load of hankies in

Can't believe the time already. Going to head to bed soon. Knackered after all my chores and shopping. Bought pressies for dh and K. Now trying to sort out a party for B - flaming expensve though.

Right, off to bed, so see you all in the morning. xx

Pesha · 11/03/2008 21:52

SPB - D hates having his nose wiped too, have to grab both his hands with 1 hand and wipe as quick as poss with the other, he gets very angry!! Either that or do it whilst bfing, although obviously thats not always particularly convenient!

SOL - How do you know Wincanton?!? Job would be a bit tricky although its only about a 20 min drive or so but I would need to rethink my work hours. Would look for a new job in Wincy but would be ok for a while and abit much nicer place for dc to grow up!

Ange - night!

Eddas - just off to look at your other thread now.
