OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 14:23

That's the plan - scary though

oooggs · 10/03/2008 14:42

weather dreadful down here

glad F is better mj

oh Izzy - hope you feel better soon

mine have snack at nursery 10am & 3pm and only at home if I remember (ds1 reminds me ) infact all mine do is eat

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 15:53

Have uploaded a comedy shot of O eating sandwiches onto my profile!

Sexonlegs · 10/03/2008 16:39

Hiya loves

NL, you poor thing. Have a hug from me. Really hope your dd's are better soon.

Ange, poor Izzy. Hope she is on the road to recovery now.

Hi Bramshott and Oooggs.

Pesha, enjoy your shoe shopping session

Maveta, I give K the odd snack. She likes the organix stuff - the crunchy carrot crispy things. She also has the odd bit of toast. Nursery give her snack at 9.30 and 3.30 - usually fruit or cake.

All ok here, although poor K has a bump on her head from nursery. The poor nursery worker was so upset. She had put K in a highchair - one of the low ones that stands on the floor but hadn't buckled her in. She fell on to the floor and has a big bruise on her forehead

Also peed off with school. They are closing on Thursday 1st May to be a polling station for the local elections. Ffs, we have to take so much time off to cover holidays and training days as it is without this. I know it is only 1 day, but it is a day I work, and I hate having to use my parents so much. Bloody fuming.

Sorry for the rant.

Sexonlegs · 10/03/2008 16:42

Bramshott, fab picture!

Kneehighinnappies · 10/03/2008 16:59

Hello my lovely ladies, I know I have been a tiny bit absent from these thread for a while, but I have so much going on, plus I am addicted to doing facebook quizzes

Anyway for those of you who haven't seen my pictures from 'preganacy baby and you' I'll add them to my profile page.

I have sent a message to mn towers and I'm hoping for some good news, As you may or may not know I have started doing some bits for 'pregnancy baby and you' and they have asked me if mntters would be intrested in helping out, obviously I have to clear it with mn first, but fingers crossed they'll say yes and top of my list for people to appear in the mag is guess who................ Yes you lot, It won't be much probably just testing baby products or your tips etc but you will get to keep anything you test and a £50 voucher for certain bits, so like I said fingers crossed.

hope you are all well xxxxx

cazboldy · 10/03/2008 18:50

Wow KHIN - I'm up for that sounds fab! Really lovely pictures btw

Bramshott at O and the sandwiches

Oh dear NL - it's never ending

Eddas - I would recommend the lifting and the bedmats

Maveta - mine are like Oooggs' i.e constantly eating

I am going to speak to the Deputy head at our preferred school tomorrow. Just for advice about the appeal stuff - it's all a bit daunting really, and found out today that 226 people have applied for the 160 available places, so worse than I had hoped and [worried] (we need a worried emoticon!)

Hi to SOL, MJ, Ellie,Pesha, Ange and anyone else I forgot to mention

Maveta · 10/03/2008 18:59

NL - fingers crossed for you, I am not good with uncertainty either.. can't stop my mind from going over and over the possibilities..

SOL - that is annoying that you have to take a day off, not looking forward to those aspects of working motherhood at all

Bramshott - cute pic! I put N in one of those highchairs the other day and he looked so wedged in! lol if he gets much fatter he wouldn't fit in at all

Caz - sorry you are having the worry and stress of an appeal too.. fingers crossed for you

Thanks for the experiences re. snacking.. still not sure what I'll do, he seems happy enough so I'll play it by ear a bit I think. Just about got mealtimes down and now I have to have healthy snacks available?! sheesh

elkiedee · 10/03/2008 19:30

Hi everyone

Sorry to hear about all the sick babies

D looks like he's been in the wars because he wants to stand/walk without holding onto things and the result is that he keeps banging his head/face on things.

Yes, I do give D snacks just on an as and when basis - sharing bits of fruit and croissants with him, the odd rice cake.

CM is asking about giving him juice - I'd sooner she didn't yet and stuck to milk or water if he seems to be thirsty - she seems to worry that he's not consistently drinking things but I assume that he will have his water if he's thirsty enough. And give him bits of fruit direct. Are others giving juice?

Elana, lovely pics - is your pregnancy diary in the current issue of the magazine or an older one. I'd be interested. Are you still living at your parents?

oooggs · 10/03/2008 19:31

hi all - KHIN wish I had seen the magazine - looks great

just off out for a Guiders meeting [such joy]

caz - I am worried about ds1s' school - we find out next week and 3 schools in town over subscribed and the other is dodgy I have lost sleep and there is nothing I can done but wait

oooggs · 10/03/2008 19:32

juice or water until at least two is what we did with DS1 and will do same with dts

sorry I x posts with you elkie

Maveta · 10/03/2008 19:41

Elkie, I only give N water but mum gives him very diluted fruit juice. I would prefer she didn't because he really loves water anyway and drinks loads so it seemed silly to introduce juice if it wasn't necessary. But after mentioning it once or twice I decided it wasn't a battle worth fighting tbh.. but then, that's my stubborn mother, not a CM, and if it was a CM I'd probably have stuck to what I wanted..

how helpful I am

Sexonlegs · 10/03/2008 19:44

KHIN, lovely to see you. I would be well up for product testing too

Caz, what a nightmare re the appeal situation. I know it is a long way away, but I worry that K won't get in to the school B is at - it isn't our catchment school. Hey ho.

Oooggs, enjoy your Guiders meeting .

Elkie, I am just giving K water, and she seems to enjoy that so will hold off on the juice. Can't remember when B had juice.

Dh not back from Edinburgh yet so stuffing my face with crisps!!

How is everyone?

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 19:48

Evening all

KHIN and Bramshott - lovely pics

Maveta - that is exactly what I do - it's very tiring!

Ok well after a lie down with a hot water bottle dd1 is much better and dd2's tummy seems to have settled. They are all off to bed now and we'll see what the night brings.......

Caz - it does indeed seem neverending! Hope you learn something useful for your appeal tomorow.

Elkie - B doesn't drink much either - I think they just gradually learn to the up the volume as and when - and of course there is a lot more liquid in their food than we would have.

SOL at the polling station thing - that is very annoying!

Oooggs - hope you get good school news next week

Nothing from work about the interview - i'm pretty sure that means I haven't got it as they would have been phoning and offering it to the successful candidate today. That's ok - lets me off the hook of working full time!

What's everyone having for tea - I've done nothing but eat today (comfort eating, moi? never!) I'm having Lincolnshire sausages cooked in the oven, a jacket potato, carrots, peas and Yorkshire Puddings!!! I'm starving.

Idreamofchocolate · 10/03/2008 20:46

Flying hello whilst I wait for dh to get home from work....

Had a quick skim through and sorry to hear there are still more poorly bubbas (NL, mammyjo, Ange). Are our babies just really inclined to catch bugs? Luckily S is on top form again, fingers crossed it continues....

Oooggs - what desperately sad news about your friend. I cannot imagine (nor do I want to) how heartbreaking that would be. So, so sorry.

KHIN - your pics are fab! You all look bloody marvellous!

Bramshott - O is looking very cute - when am I going to see her in the flesh again? (Eeekkk must email you actually).

NL - I have everything crossed for you for the house. Sounds very very stressful and I really hope it all works out and you get the house of your dreams.

Sooo, back to the usual routine today; work, nursery, school etc. Nearly had a head on crash on the way home tonight - lots of the roads around here go through military areas and are very rural, windy, wet, poor visibility, and some complete w*nker decided it would be a good idea to overtake before getting to a blind corner. So I'm heading up the road and suddenly there is a car coming towards me on my side of the road. I had to slam on my breaks and he just got past me. And then the car behind me decided to overtake me about 5 seconds after this happened. What is wrong with people? That particular road is notorious for accidents, but hey, overtaking tossers are immune, right?

Anyway, lalalalala, drinking some wine now.

oooggs · 10/03/2008 21:11

back from meeting - very productive but I am freezing

wind is howling and we have lost half of our fence going to be bad again tomorrow

dh is making me a hot chocolate to warm up [yum]

catch you later

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 21:26

Thinking of you in the stormy south!

Thanks IDOC - I think I am very silly to get so stressed but I can't really help it! That overtaking thing sounds awful - what a wa*r!

Oooggs - I'm having Ben&Jerrys in a minute - yum - but not warming like your beverage!

Eddas · 10/03/2008 21:29

NL I felt much like that when we were selling our house. I hate uncertainty. It's driving me mad having to wait til 31st March to find out which school dd will go to

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 21:43

Hope you get good news Eddas

Pesha · 10/03/2008 21:56

Hi all

Hot choc sounds good, might have to go make myself one!

Elkie - D just has water, started off giving him watered down orange juice as this was when he had low iron and vit C helps them absorb iron but think hes fine now and he's just as happy with water so I avoid giving any sort of juice now. N used to drink shed loads of water whereas M never would, fussy little wotsit that she is!

Maveta (think it was you?!) - D has loads of snacks, he just grazes all day near enough. But if N isnt asking for snacks then i wouldn't give any - baby led and all that!! I think my whole parenting method is pretty much baby led, although with a little bit of mummy force persuasion at bed times!!

Cant remember anything else now. Oh except somehow I managed to get persuaded to buy N a £32 pair of school shoes The boy has weird feet, 1 is just under an 11.5, width 'G', the other is 10.5 and at top end of an 'H' So none of the limited selection of clearance shoes fitted him

DloeufyDoo · 11/03/2008 07:21

Morning!Hope all have a good dayAin't read posts yet. Can't till later.Hope all is relatively ok.

Maveta · 11/03/2008 09:00

morning all - if anyone knows anything about bug bites can you help me on my thread here?

Looks like a nice ish day here so doing some laundry while ds is asleep and then off to hang out with my parents for a bit, eat their food and watch satellite

Then going off to visit dh at work and look for a new handbag.. still haven't got my birthday present from my parents (from dec) and they keep hassling me to pick something so think that's what I want/ need.. except as always when you have money to burn, I can't find anything I like!!

Hope you all have a fab day x

Bramshott · 11/03/2008 09:27

Elkie - I am holding off on juice for now, but also a bit concerned that O doesn't drink that much and I'm sure she'd drink more if it were juice. However, clearly she can drink well from her cup when thirsty, so I figure she is still getting enough milk and liquid in her purees (we are still very puree-based here ) - hey, she's not dehydrated or she'd be constipated, right?!

Pesha - I have so been there with the shoes thing! Last time I went, I came home so depressed (I think I'd spent exactly £32 as well!) and all for taking the shoes back, but DH rationalised me by saying "If you'd got them for £27 you'd be feeling pleased, so essentially you are going through all this stress over a fiver". I think the problem is, that once the assistant has said that the shoes they've arrived in are too small, then fitted some on and said that those fit well, it takes a very strong woman to say "no, those are too expensive, let's put the too-small foot-crippling ones back on, I'll leave it for today"!!

IDOC - very scary re overtaking - I hate overtakers. Weren't those poor people who died in Gloucestershire over the weekend killed by someone overtaking? Why people think it's worth risking their lives to get 1 car length ahead is totally beyond me.
On a happier not - yes, let's meet up! Do you have any time off over Easter? Hols here start on 4th April. Did you get a text from Dippy about Saturday? I'm not sure as it depends what DH is up to. Anyone else?

Right, am going to try to stay off Mumsnet (or at least off all other threads except this one!) today, and see how much more work I can get done! I am awful when I'm quiet at work - soooooo unmotivated! I think I thrive on stress!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 11/03/2008 09:49

morning all
I'm at work so just popping in to say hi

Sexonlegs · 11/03/2008 12:16
