Yoo hoo - over here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
oooggs · 10/03/2008 10:04

no not me converting - a friend is looking for some

well it is terrible down here, very windy, lots of flooding and I hope they don't close our bridge - that links Devon & Cornwall as I am in Cornwall with dts, ds1 at nursery in Devon and dh in Devon with his pushbike so could be a problem

I'm not back to work yet - hence time but I only do 16 hours anyway so probably won't make much difference

Eddas · 10/03/2008 10:07

oooggs can't begin to imagine what they are going through and tbh don't want to. thinking of them

I have come to a big decision this morning. I am going to join ww and try to lose weight properly. I want to eat better and get fitter too and can't see me getting up the motivation by myself so am going to swallow my tightass pride and actual pay to go to the meetings. Have found one ona wed morning and will go this week so I can't pursuade myself that I shouldn't spend the cash going there dh has decided he will do it with me so really it's going to be worth the money. see am trying to convince myself it's a good idea

dd wet herself again last night. she was so tired and am hoping at some point soon she'll realise she needs a wee and get up and go rather than wee the bed. Does anyone thinking lifting a child is a good idea? dd is a heavy sleeper so i'm sure it wouldn't disturb her too much. Might try it tonight. Also don't they (huggies or pampers) sell a bedmat type thing to at least catch the majority of the wee. We've just bought a new matress for her so want to save it from getting too heavily soaked. We have a waterproof sheet but IMO they're not much cop for a full blown wee.

Pesha · 10/03/2008 10:38

Eddas - pampers do disposable bed mats that I've used on occasion, they're ok, prob abit better than mattress cover and means a bit less washing! DD was sick sat night (prob from eating too much crap and delayed shock from her tooth falling out!) and I put a pampers bed mat on over the sheet in case she was sick again as that was my last clean sheet!Luckily she wasnt and has been fine since.

Oooggs - thats so awful, I cant begin to imagine how you would cope with something like that Thinking of her.

Pillock - you really should try kissing him you know - its in his kiss and all that! Worked for Jamie, I didnt feel a spark and till I got drunk and snogged him and then I felt a huge spark!!

Have just apparently won gold gym membership for 3 years. There is a service charge of £16.53 a month though so more half price than free But still pretty good I think, just need to work out if I'll be able to go often enough to make it worth my while.

Still not found a CM. Am visiting one on wed but her boy isnt 1 till 27th April and CMs not allowed 2 under 1 so will have to wait for D's birthday before she can have him. But if she seems really nice (and she's been recommended by a few people) then I expect I can work something out till then. Still looking for others though. Have decided it is a CM I want, for various reasons, just have to find the right one!

Baby shouting now oh and farting, that'll be why then! Back later

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 10:45

Arse, no interview for that job I wanted. Oh well.

Hope no-one has been blown away in the night!

Eddas - I lifted DD1 for quite a long time and it worked for us. She was late to night-train (4.5) and wanted to do it, so I figured that by getting her up for a wee at 10.30 or whatever, I was just helping her to do what she wanted to do, which was stay dry all night. I probably did it for a few months, and then stopped it when for a few nights she either didn't wake or didn't wee.

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 10:46

I second the pampers bed mats thing - they aren't cheap, but they are great - totally contain any accidents and very easy to strip off.

Eddas · 10/03/2008 10:56

thanks pesha and bramshott. I thought they'd probably cost lots but I think i'll try the lifting thing and hopefully the mats will alst a while She seems to wet the bed at around the same time each time she does it and am thinking if I lift her at around 9 that may stop the wetting. so i'll get some of those mats to save the mattress and get her lifted at 9 for a while. I guess she may even start to do that herself I cna hope

liath · 10/03/2008 11:08

Morning!

It's horrible here, really cold and wet. Not as stormy as down south at least.

Thinking of your friend, oooggs. Same thing recently happened to a friend of my sisters, just unbearably tragic .

Am struggling to keep up with the thread I'm afraid, have been really busy and I'm going to be away a lot over Easter. DH has a job interview for his dream job soon so is working like a demon to arse lick liase with all the right people and doing antisocial shifts on top of it all. He'll be so gutted if he doesn't get it so I am keeping everything crossed.

Dd's 3rd birthday party was on saturday and it was great fun. I didn't put any of the cake in the party bags so I could get to finish it off. Ds is pouring snot from his nose and gunk from his eyes, poor thing.

Hope everyone is OK - is anyone planning 1st birthdays yet? Don't have a clue if we'll do anything, zoo maybe....Dd has decided that he wants a green birthday cake .

mammyjo · 10/03/2008 11:44

Hi all. Havent been around much as have had a rough week really, which has been full of non MN things!

F had finally got over the cold/diarrhoea thing she had and was well enough to go to nursery on Thursday. She went there and I went to work. By 9.15am nursery were calling me to go and get her as she had a nasty rash. Dh went and picked her up and took her to the gp. She had an urticarial rash and had basically had an allergic reaction to something.
By the next day her eyes and face were puffy so she went back to the gp who then sent us up to the hospital as she wasnt happy with her. I have never seen such a bad rash, it was literally covering her from head to foot, even her legs and feet were swollen because of it She had regular piriton for a few days and thankfully now everything has settled down again. No idea what she has reacted to as everything she ate that morning she had eaten many times before. Doctor said it could be anything, even something in the air.
I am just relieved that she is better as when she was puffy she didnt even look like her iykwim.

Hope everyone is well, sorry I havent caught up at all except that I read oooggs post about the 39 week baby. That is unbelievably heartbreaking, just dont know how I would ever begin to cope with something like that
And ellie, how is sofaman?

Hope you are all ok, love to all xxxx

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 11:51

Hi mammyjo - and everyone else

Poor little F - how scary for you all
Glad she's on the mend now. I am thoroughly fed up of sick children and/or clingy babies here

Did you hear any more from work about the other week?

Oven timer bleeping - back in a mo

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 12:06

Er - that's 'here' as in my house NOT on this thread

Sexonlegs · 10/03/2008 12:36

Hi chaps, just dropping in whilst at work.

MJ, poor F - she has been through it hasn't she. Glad she is on the mend. xx

NL, I take it you still have poorly dd's? Hope they are better soon.

Hi Pesha, Liath, Bramshott, Eddas and Maveta and anyone else who has posted.

Eddas, we used the Papmers bed mats and they are really good.
We didn't lift B. We just tried to make sure she didn't have anything to drink after 6.00 p.m. and that she went for a wee before bed. I have been known to turn the tap on in the bathroom to get B to go! Trickling water...
We have the odd accident, but only when she is utterly knackered. If she needs to go in the night she calls out for Daddy !!

Bramshott, sorry you didn't get an interview

Back later. x

Pesha · 10/03/2008 12:49

Mammyjo - poor little F, must have been really scary and to see her all puffed up and rashy Glad she's better now though.

Have rung about a million CMs, they're all either out and I've left a msg or they're full Except 1 who I'm going to see on thurs, she's just passed her driving test this morning though so said shes a bit all of the place and thinks she's ok to have them but will ring if theres a problem! She is the SIL of the cm I know and I'm a bit surprised she didnt suggest her to me at all, will have to ask her later in case theres a problem with her or something Could be that she thought she would be too far away but she lived very close to where I'll be working so its ok.

It doesn't seem too stormy here and I didnt hear much wind in the night, just rain. But at the school there is 10ft trampoline upside down on the school field that must have been blown over one of the 6 foot fences and trees of one of the neighbouring houses!

Have prob x posted loads cos I started this at 12!!

AngeG · 10/03/2008 12:50

Hello

Thanks for asking after me Oooggs

So tragic about the baby. I just heard today that a friend I went to college with baby girl died at just 4 weeks old, probably from mrsa

Have tried to catch up, but retained nothing...no surprise there.

We use pampers bed mats for J, they are really good. Have never lifted J unless he falls asleep in the car just before bedtime.

Haven't been around because Izzy has been ill. Until yesterday she hadn't kept anything down since Wednesday (except bm), she's lost so much weight and she didn't have a lot to spare anyway .

Hope everyone ok. xx

Pesha · 10/03/2008 13:00

Oh Ange poor Izzy Hope she gets back to her normal self soon. And at least she was still taking the bm

Have to go out to return dp's courtesy car now then tescos shopping, then I have a meeting then get dc and off to street to try and get ds1 some new school shoes as he now has a hole in the toe of one of his! And dd will no doubt be sulking that she doesnt get new shoes, I will have to buy her some summer shoes soon but we're not there yet so for the moment she will have to keep wearing her boots!

Maveta · 10/03/2008 13:09

sorry to hear F and I have not been 100% Mammyjo and Ange, roll on summer and healthy weather!**except those with hayfever of course

To revive an old theme on here, can I ask who gives snacks now? Noah gets porridge for breakfast, lunch and dinner are a main and dessert (yoghurt or fruit) and also has a bedtime and morning breastfeed (and often a dreamfeed, and if I'm at home in the day he'll have one or two extra through the day). I don't give him any snacks.. should I be? He's a hefty little lad anyway and he does like his food so I'm sure he wouldn't say no.. but at the same time he doesn't seem to particularly need any more food.. what are you all doing?

AngeG · 10/03/2008 13:28

Have fun shoe buying Pesha!

Maveta - I do give Izzy snacks, but then she needs the extra calories!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 10/03/2008 13:29

Joe has snacks at Nursery at about 10am, snckas at home happen if I'm eating and they want some

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 13:32

Oh MJ - that sounds scary, particulary as you have no idea what caused it. Hope she is okay now.

Good to see you Ange - sorry to hear that I has been poorly.

O has snacks (in fact is going through a really hungry phase atm) but then she doesn't drink much milk. I would think that if N is bf, that would be more nutritious.

Arggh - I've got the appointment through for her next injections in a couple of weeks time - I'd forgotten about them!

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 13:47

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

School rang - dd1 poorly now - went to get her wondering what to do about dd2 as no option really other than walk dd1 back to get her - 20 mins each way. Anyway - dd2 has had a little accident in her knickers today (ugh). Her teacher obviously hadn't enquired too closely but at this evidence that she too is still off colour I have bought her home too. She is only missing PE and assembly so I don't feel that's a problem. Poor dd1 certainly couldn't have made it back for her - she looks dreadful! Dh is away till Thursday night, I'm waitig for work to ring to say I haven't got the job I applied for last week, I'm worried beyond sense about our house move. Ladies - I've had enough!!!

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 13:54

Oh NL you poor thing. So do you have to go and pick DD2 up now?

mammyjo · 10/03/2008 13:55

NL, your dd's are having a tough time of it too aren't they. Hope they are much better soon, and fingers crossed for the job xxxx

F is back to herself today, into everything and just generally more smiley [relieved emoticon]. She is eating like a horse and I have been contemplating giving her snacks too Maveta. Ds used to munch away half the day, but she has never been so fussed. She must be hungry though as she drunk 12oz of milk to settle last night She has never done that before.

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 13:56

No - I bought her home with us. Poor dd1 had to sit down on the way home she feels so awful. B has just come in - she seems much happier today but has just produced her third dirty nappy - TMI I know.

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 14:11

Glad you are all at home now.

What is stressing you out about the house move exactly?

NorthernLurker · 10/03/2008 14:15

That our buyers will change their minds. It's actually not helped by the fact that they are cash buyers so don't need a mortgage survey - so they may or may not have a survey and that may or may not cause an issue which we may or may not negotiate our way out of and so we may or may not lose the house we have loved for 6 months.

Uncertainty and me - not a pretty sight!

Bramshott · 10/03/2008 14:19

Ah, I see. So can you put pressue on your estate agent to exchange quickly?
