Oooh hope the ultrasound is ok Astro?
We've ended up getting dd a dollshouse, we were going to get a camera (kid digi one) but she's been favouring the dollshouse when asked, so dh now has tonight and tomorrow night to assemble it I'm babysitting for Meridian at the mo, so I can't help....and then I have to go lock up work at 10pm plus I'm at work tomorrow night too, its the start of our new book/creative writing group

UniS · 02/03/2009 21:58

Astro- we were going to do just little things too, but then DH put up the saddle AGAIN on the balance bike and there is not much more up left to do. I think the new bike may be officially a birthday pressie but come when it comes. The new bike helmet is needed more urgently tho as his head is a bit tight in the one from last birthday.
Boy had so many little pressies from his party- what nice friends- that we are drip feeding him them one or two a week till his birthday.
The child who came round to play while boy was poxy in hope of catching it, has done. we will be going to play/ baby sit on wed. I'll give my friend the chance of getting out the house with out him if she wants to do so.

Astrophe · 02/03/2009 23:26

Ultra sound went well, found out the sex, but DH doesn't know (although he knows I know!) tis very exciting. All looks well, measurements all good, heartbeat good etc.

MW says I am measuring large, but baby size is normally, so probably stomch muslcles just completely given up! Am about 4cm seperated already, so seeing physio next week.

I'm sure DD will love dolls house Friz - ours got one for Chrissy, furnished with playmobile, gets much use from both kids.

Speaking of helmets Uni, DS's has melted a bit in the sun, so think we need a new one too!

We are drip feeding presents too - as they arrive from overseas, rather than saving them, as DS will have no idea who they came from if he gets them all at once.

UniS · 03/03/2009 22:04

bet you cant keep it a secret . your bound to refer to him r her aren't you? I remeber finding it V hard not to tell family, dh and I both knew. Strangely we tol friends, but nt family. thankfuly all family live well away from here.

Astrophe · 03/03/2009 22:37

DH will be cross if I tell him. I am referring variously as he/she, so hopefully genuine slip ups will go unnoticed!

I will tell one friend who is also preggers and will also find out (she always does thiugh, and tells everyone).

DS is the whinge man this morning...looooong day.

Frizbe · 04/03/2009 22:14

Awww Astro can't you tell us glad scan went well

Well lovely birthday day today, though we've not stopped running around like loonies all day, seeing people, swimming and ballet, dd2 got up at 7am and finally went to sleep at 9.30 pm, party animal!

Astrophe · 05/03/2009 02:37

Weeeeeelll, so long as you don't tell DH...

Its a girl!!! I am very chuffed - had thought it was a girl right from the first week -I feel like I did when preggers with DD1 (hey, cool, I need to write DD1 now, not just DD!).

I always wanted another DD - wanted a sister for DD as I never had one (sob, sob - two brothers). But was also v glad DS wasn't a girl, as I can imagine DD would have clashed very much with a sister so close in age.

DD1 Will be SOOOOOOO happy (wont tell her obviously). They will be 5 years apart, hopefully enough to dispell the worst of sisterly rivalry...or parheps I am being naieve?

I feel a bit sad for DS - he has said he wants a brother to give his old shoes to, bless him. I think he'll be far less disapointed than DD would have been though.

...of course, it could be wrong and we may have a surprise DS2! The sonographer seems pretty sure though.

Frizbe · 05/03/2009 23:22

Astro, thats lovely I reckon all your kids will get on great regardless of age anyway! promise not to tell dh

Astrophe · 08/03/2009 10:38

Thanks Friz, yes, very exciting

Had DS's party today. Thomas cake was a hit, lots of family there and a few little ones - only 6 kids, so fairly tame all in all! We were meant to go to the park, but it rained so we ends up at home, which was a little crowded but still fine. His actual b'day is tomorrow...don't know what the kids will do once all the excitement is over!

Frizbe · 08/03/2009 19:36

Happy Birthday to ds for Tomorrow Astro glad you had a lovely day today, shame about the rain though.

It hail'd then tried to snow here today then just chucked it down with rain again instead, in an April shower way spring for you! Have spent am with friends in Starbucks at McGlen, drinking coffee, then took the girls to a party at a bowling centre, which dd1 enjoyed (dd2 wasn't invited, so just had to hang around but did it with grace) so here. Have painted ss's wall again this afternoon, 1st coat of purple on now, though not very happy with the paint, bit thicker than I'd like/seemed to be drying out too quickly

UniS · 08/03/2009 20:20

Rain and hail here too friz. I didn;t notice I was working in a school hall all day. Boy and DH got caught and got wet at end of their bike ride. boy did 2.5 miles of MTB trail on his balance bike with DH jogging/ running.
Birthday on tuesday. Granny and grandad coming down for it. Taking Party ring biscuits to nurture group on tues.

Astro- sound like a nice day was had dispite the rain.

laundrylover · 09/03/2009 09:57

Wow, just had a major catch up so I now know that Astro is having another girl (wahay!) and that the birthdays have been coming thick and fast. Happy Birthday all of the 3 year olds - Kiah has to wait til the 29th!!

I've been so busy in RL that MN is taking a back seat, which is good I think. I'm off to Bristol for the night after lunch and then of to Devon at weekend. Both work. Hope to catch up on lots of work on the endless train journeys.

We got hail yesterday too. I ran up to my parents house and went off road along the muddiest track I've ever seen. It was quite comical as there was literally no way to avoid it. I was tittering to myself and slipping all over thinking I was going to go head first at any moment! As it was I managed to only get mud up to my knees. I flopped into the lovely warm farmhouse just as a huge thunder and hail storm broke. Good timing eh?

OK I have a Lottery assessment to do before I can pack for my night away so better get on...will try to drop by more often.

So , who lives nearish to Buxton? or Rothwell, Leeds. DH and I are starting to talk about a big road trip in June as a holiday visting lots of friends and camping in teh gaps.
Not thinking of descending on you to stay, but maybe possible to meet up for a bit of a kids bike ride or tea and cakes.

GPS arrive in an hour. Now am I going to get ANY work done.

Frizbe · 10/03/2009 23:41

Uni I can do something near Buxton or Leeds, as I'm sure can LL as She's edge of Mancs and I'm Edge of Derbyshire, so both within reach of us both be great to do a meet somewhere!

Astrophe · 12/03/2009 04:51

Sounds like a meet up is on the cards! Wont be able to make this one...

Great work with the running and rain/hail avoidance LL! How is the SW weight loss going? Still well?

All well here - kids playing happily with all DS's new birthday clobber!

Swimming lessons going well - both kids can 'swim' about 2 feet from teacher to wall! Exciting!

Frizbe · 12/03/2009 22:22

for the Swimming Lessons Astro, dd2 can now make it across the pool on her back by herself, with drag from teacher walking fast behind her, can do it on her own with 1 x arm float on each (they start them with 3) and no teacher dd1 can do across the pool on front with 3 stops for breath which is kinda like drowning with style

So guess we need to get the meet up in Singapore organised then

Frizbe · 16/03/2009 18:23

Bump LL, Astro, Uni, Caddy? you out there?

Astrophe · 17/03/2009 01:07

Here friz! Bit quiet here huh!

I know what you mean about the 'drowning with style' - thats it exactly! Still, v glad we invested in lessons - they have learned much more from the teacher than I could have taught them. Will do another term after Easter, then probably an intensive holiday program over winter holidays.

No news here. same old same old. Weather has cooled down a bit - lovely and crisp in the mornings now - I put on a cardi to sit outside at 9am yesterday - first time I've put one on since we've been here I think!

Had a migraine last night - first time in 3 pragnancies I've had one after 6 weeks, so it worried me a bit - lay awake wondering if my hormones were going haywire and baby was going to be ill/in danger. She seems fine though, lots fo kicks this morning

Hope you lot are well and having fun and exciting RLs!
x

Frizbe · 17/03/2009 09:17

for 1st cardi at home experience Astro! glad your kids are swimming in the same style as mine
How's the job front coming on?

I went down to CSWS's for a meet up this weekend with the feb thread, was lovely CSWS's latest little bubba is very cute too

Gota dash, aerobics, will be late!

Cadmum · 19/03/2009 15:12

I am out here...

computerless as DS2 poured water into the laptop and the desktop keeps hanging.

I am stealing a moment on DH's work laptop to check email and the goings-on here.

DH has a job interview in Scotland on Monday and his Viva (for the PhD) on Friday in London so it should be an interesting week.

He will also be picking up a computer in the UK so I hope to be back online soonish.

Take care. I hope the sun is out in your corner of the world. It sure is here!

Cadmum · 19/03/2009 15:17

Congrats Astro! I think that 5 years between same sex siblings is great. DS1 and 2 rarely compete and often cooperate. There is 7 years(and one day) between our DDs and they get along brilliantly as well.

As for your ds being disappointed, how about a fourth later?

laundrylover · 19/03/2009 23:07

Meet up yes!!!!

June is good. Anytime.

Have had a bit of a crash and had to text in 'mentally ill' to work on Tues . Anyway much better now and DP really took notice. In fact he has arranged childcare and booked a hotel for us tomorrow for my birthday.

Someone mentioned SW...back up to 12 stone due to chocolate overload. Still running but slower due to drag. Need to sort my head out before tackling the body!!

We've booked two weeks in Turkey for Easter so looking forward to leaving my laptop and mobile at home and getting some sunshine. Today was lovely here and Kiah and I had lunch in the garden.

Catch up next week....jolly weekends all.

Hey Caddy, great to see you again! Bad news about the computer and water incident!

How exciting that DH is having an interview in Scotland! Would that be a good thing for you guys? Big changes I guess...is DHs contract coming to an end then? Obv feel free not to answer, but will you always have to move around every few years? Or is there prospect of 'settling down' some time. I think you are amazing! We are finding this move so tough...saying "never again"...you are a superwoman caddy

Thanks for that about sibling gaps Caddy! Of course I know there is so much more than jusr ages and gaps that makes them get along, but I am pleased as punch with the way things have worked out, and even moreson with you saying that about your brood As for number 4 down the track - definately a possibility, but I just hate being pregnant, it really doesn't agree with me...so we shall see (ie, it depends on how much I forget!)

LL, so sorry to hear you aren't feeling so good - GREAT that DP has sat up and is taking notice though - so important. Hope you get back on an even keel soon though...spring helps I think? I hope your birthday treat is WONDERFUL! xxxxx

Had a gorgeous brunch in my little bros cafe this moring - the most wonderful cinnamon infused coffee...aaahhhhh. Followed by a frustrating arvo car hunting - DH decided last minute that all the cars I had reasearched to look at were too far away, so we had to quickly search for new contenders and ended up looking at 2 only. Was helpful I guess, as we have ruled out one type, so now have a better idea of what we are looking for. Was cranky with DH though. He allowing me to MN now though by bathing the kids, so all is forgiven

Hope you are well Uni and Friz

UniS · 20/03/2009 19:26

still around. just. in laws here for weekend so not around much... wish me luck.

Frizbe · 20/03/2009 22:27

LL {{{Hugs}}} re your 'crash' hope you're getting your head straighter. Fab news about your holiday though will make the world seems lots better too and bless dh for taking you out for your birthday

Caddy, boo for no computer access at home, but I hope great news about a possible move to Scotland??

Astro, now I want brunch at your bro's cafe too! is it weblinked, can we browse?
Hope you find the right car soon too, we need to get a new van type car (a cross perhapse) for dh asap, he's taken the citroen this weekend, so I'm carless and still have to get into work to open up tomorrow morning with the girls in tow, its not far, but walking 1st thing can make for grumpy kids......particularly when they're going somewhere they don't want to go

Dd2 totally freaked out at a fly in the house when we got home tonight I had to explain that flies do not eat humans then explain about the whole, flies land on meat, spit on it, then digest the enzymes when they suck up the spit bit, bless her I think she'd gotten it into her head that flies eat humans (I didn't go into mossies, I wanted her to go to bed and sleep!)

Have accidently eaten a whole packet of choc covered popcorn, ooopse
