Happy New Year all!!!

Uni, if your DS liks being bossed around by girls then there is a match made in heaven with my DD - she is SO BOSSY!!!! and driving us a bit bonkers with her constant teling DS what to do/say/touch/look at/think...argh!

We had a nice Christmas - busy day - I got a bit over tired and had a coughing/vomiting fit and fainted but am ok now and morning sickness is improving slowly and will be even better when the cough goes away. Am 11.5 weeks now, having a scan at 12.5 weeks so that will be good.

New Years Eve, we didn't even watch the famous Sydney fireworks, but had a quiet night at my bro and SIL's house having a bBQ, then put kids to bed there and chatted in the new year (me - completely sober of course).

Living with the parents is...ok. We have t killed or had any shouting matches yet. Mum has been fairly helpful to me when I was v sick, but is antsy with DH as he is staying up late and sleeping late and she thinks he should be doing more for me and the kids. Of course she is right, but I HATE being stuck in the middle of the two of them. Today she is preparring to go up to their holiday house and is wandering about sighing deeply and muttering about "poor Dad" who has to carry all the heavy bags by himself (meaning, she thinks DH should get up out of bed and help him).

Anyway, we have tomorrow in peace, then willl join them at holiday house in the mountains for 5 days...thankfully B and SIL will be there to diffuse the situation. Please cross your fingers DH will find a job ASAP and we can move out!

Uni - hope your boy has recovered from the tiredness, Friz, hope you have recovered from NY and are enjoying your new laptop, LL, hope your girls are giving you a bit of rest from the fighting! Anyone heard fro Caddy???

Oh, and our shipping arrived 2 days ago! Full of summer clothes that actually fit the children - hurrah - lots of cute stuff from last years Boden sale - and the kids Christmas prezzies - Paymobil furniture for their new dolls house

xxxx

Frizbe · 01/01/2009 22:55

Morning Astro! bet you're on your laptop on the verrandah in the sunshine eh (humour me) whilst I'm shivvering on the sofa I am now recovered! huzzah.
Fingers x'd your dh gets work soon and you guys can get sorted out can't be nice all bunking in with the parents (my dad and my dh wouldn't last 5 seconds together!

laundrylover · 03/01/2009 14:55

Happy New Year all.

Just dropped Tilly at party and K is at my parents with my entire family....sooooo peaceful here.

Read your post Astro and thought that Frizbe had been to New York and I'd missed it!!! Der. Living with family is not good - I have done it but not for long.

Uni at your stairs mishap!!

We had a nice NY eve at friends and despite my intention to drive I got very drunk on cocktails and we got a taxi.

The girls stayed up at my parents last night with all the cousins and we went for a drink with siblings - good laugh - then home to an empty house....I had a rude dream and woke up at 9am very horny!!!! Hope DP doesn't misinterpret this as a NY resolution.

This year I will mostly be trying to lose the 1.5 stones that I put back on last year. I am also trying not to shout and doing OK so far!

LL I'm sure you'll loose it really quickly you did great last year I'm back on Weightwatchers again, 1st day of watching what I'm eating today, sob, and the house is so full of lovely stuff that dh will keep waving in front of me, argh I'm thinking of that bikini in South of France!
Glad you enjoyed NYE and last night too, lucky thing Hope you got quality time to self this avo too (did you spend it all on here!)

So dh is snoring on sofa here.....I've installed my web cam today, but can't for the life of me figure how to connect it to email (can I connect to googlemail do you know, I don't think msn will support it ) or will I need to do it to our bt address (that we never use)

laundrylover · 03/01/2009 22:25

Don't ask me any techy questions Friz, I'm a complete luddite.

I didn't just go on MN today - I booked my trains and hotel for Tues and Weds in London. All my relatives are out of town and I decided that instead of staying at old friends I'd rather have a hotel with a pool for £55!! A bit of peace and quiet won't go amiss.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 04/01/2009 10:51

LL that sounds lovely

So I read the jucing thread last night and I'm now debating trying that for a week

UniS · 04/01/2009 20:06

Nice one LL, 55 a night in LONDON !!! erm, is it actully in teh right london?

Mad day of uni hockey yesterday. 8 teams in round robin tournament. Boy had a good time rolling round teh floor with some other players kids getting filthy.

Back to work tomorrow, arrrgh, ought to be sorting my tool kit out and the like. HAVE sorted boys nursery bag out, Have put boys clothes ready for morning. HAve talked to him about it being a nursery day tomorrow. so not a total lost casue.

UniS · 04/01/2009 22:14

Ohh- proud parent alert- Boy wrote his name on his own today! AND it was readable. The joys of having a 2 letter name:-) We were dong thank you cards, I was asking him to put stickers on and " draw his name" so he did, then I realisied he really had. I was expecting the usual spirally doodley thing.

laundrylover · 05/01/2009 09:27

Uni the boy is a genius!!! Get on the Gifted and Talented thread NOW!!!!

Thank you cards.... on the list for this week. Taking Xmas tree and decs down this afternoon though.

Friz, I don't fancy a juicing diet really...need something to get my teeth into. Let me know how it goes!

We had snow overnight so DP has taken the girls to school and playgroup on the sledge.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 05/01/2009 20:43

Strewth you had more snow than us then we had a dusting, nothing sledge worthy, that would have been good

Jas has just offered to send me her unused juicer here too, so about that, although I insist on paying her something, what a love.

Uni that's great! dd2 can do kinda circles, that's about it, not at all interested in writing her name yet, well done Uni ds

Car in garage, awaiting results......

Went to gym this am though and walked to get dd2 from nursery and back, so good trek there too

Bad news just in from Meridian, she took my dd1 and her ds to ikea for tea tonight....they've just realised that their car was broken into whilst there her dh's briefcase, with cash and two harddrives in it, plus her ds's lightsabre torch have been stolen police on way round to dust for prints......

UniS · 05/01/2009 21:14

oh, poor meridan, thats a bummer.
Well boy may be able to write his name when it suits him but hes also cabable of being a right horrid little PITA. getting him up and dressed this morning was a mare and then getting him undreesed and into bed tonight was also a mare. complete with him spitting on bath room floor after I'd ceaned his teeth. Ho hum. eventully he fell asleep after screaming at us for a while.
Back to nursery today... wonder if it related. sorry, SURE its related. He refused dinner at nursery again.
Home vist from nuture group key worker tomorrow morning! I do hope boy is in a better mood. The nuture group is a pre pre school group at sure start. I'll find out more from key worker about what they actully DO tomorrow.
SNOW... you got snow. lucky you. justfrezeing cold down here, rain last night so somewhat icey in the morning.
Any of you watch dispatches just now? that ws the other kind of nuture group. Tho I have supician some of the thinking behind ours may be similar.

Frizbe · 05/01/2009 21:39

no sorry missed dispatched, dh is playing fallout 3 on Xbox!

Cadmum · 05/01/2009 21:50

Happy New Year form the Cad Clan in Ch...

We are officially the House-of-Sad because our only 'friends' moved back home to USA on December 28 and it will be a tough slog without them until we find other ways to fill our time.

Nothing new or exciting to report from here (which is a good thing, actually).

I will try to be here more often

Frizbe · 05/01/2009 22:16

Happy New Year Caddy
You still have us lot of online virtual friends Hope we can make life more bearable till you get some more local mates!

UniS · 06/01/2009 09:14

Hi Caddy. Snowy with you yet?

Cadmum · 06/01/2009 13:31

Thanks Friz...

Uni we bought dd a unicycle for Christmas. She loves it! The roads are very icy so she has to hold the car for most of the time but can now actually manage to pedal 5-6 times before wobbling her feet back to the ground. Thank heavens for her helmet. I am a nervous wreck watching her!

There is plenty of snow in the mountains and a little down here on the plain. It is very beautiful but VERY cold today -6 but feels colder with the wind.

I like snow but not the cold wind. We are headed up to Basel tomorrow to visit other H-Ed friends but I am being fairly pathetic here ATM. Must move myself out of the self-pity corner.

My SIL in Wales has had her baby and I am planning to head up there with the DDs to visit. Baby BMI have ridiculously inexpensive flights so that helps!

I really ought to get away from this computer... I am still in my jammies (from yesterday!!!). Time to get out and enjoy the cold!

Cadmum · 06/01/2009 15:12

Just found out that SIL's baby is in hospital... All I know so far is that she refuses to feed.

UniS · 06/01/2009 21:05

Fingers Xed for Caddys SIL and baby. lets hope they can get SiL expressing and get something down that baby on way or another.

Frizbe · 06/01/2009 21:07

for SIL baby not feeding, hope its easily solved, Congrats to sil and her family on baby though Hope you can get over to see her soon, BMI baby are great for cheap flights, I like them the best of the cheapo airlines at the mo

-6, is that all , its the same here too going to -10 tonight apparently, brrrrrrrrr, coldest I've known it is -18 (and I was working in that at an airport, brrrrrr, makes mental note never to do nights at airport again)

It tried to snow here again today accoring to dd1, but I didn't see a single cloud in the sky, is that wishful thinking or what?

I'd also like to know if any of your kids have tried this one, as I'm a bit worried about dd2's level of pain tolerance being too high/none existant......she has peeled all of the toe nails on one side off halfway down the toe (wince) they are bloody and horrible and she doesn't seem to be bothered at all, I have asked her why she has done this and explained that she shouldn't do this/mummy and daddy are the only ones who should cut or file her toe nails, but ouch all she would say is they needed doing, which they didn't, they'd only been done the week before Is it just a phase? should I be worried?

laundrylover · 07/01/2009 23:14

Oh dear Friz, not heard of that one before Friz....mind you all of our nearly 3 years olds on this thread are completely bonkers so it doesn't surprise me!

Caddy - hope the baby starts feeding soon. Where in Wales in your SIL...if North me and Friz could prob meet you if you have a free day....

OP posts:
UniS · 08/01/2009 20:46

re toe nails.... it may not be as tender as it looks. I used to rip my nails to shreds, it felt sooo good when I did it, never thought about the re growing thing. Till I got one ingrowing- THAT hurt.
Our nearly 3s are however bonkers arn;t they.
bonkers but cute. Well boy has been quite affectionate the last two days any way which makes a pleasent change.

Caddy- good to hear your DD lkes her uni. spunds like she will get there with practise. once you get a few wheel turns thats all it needs- lolts of practise. If shes still hanging onto the car try and encourage her to launch off from it. leaning on somthing on one side can make a rider a bit lop sided and it gets harder to move away from your suport the longer you cling to it.

Frizbe · 08/01/2009 23:45

Hey good plan LL, so where are they then Uni?

Have had good talk with dd, she is aware not to pick them again!

Made me laugh tonight, on her toy phone, yelling thru the bedroom wall to 'sizzy' I'm texting you Sizzy

Cadmum · 09/01/2009 15:09

LL and Friz; SIL lives in South BUT I would love to meet up. We are always up for a train trip. (Just spent yesterday in Basel with HEd friends and that is 3 hours form us.)

Uni: Thanks for the advice about the uni. I wasn't too sure if dd was leaning on the car for support or just to avoid the icy roads. I will keep an eye on her though.

It is still cold and icy here. In fact, both dh and I have remarked on just how much ice there is on the pavement. It would not be legal to leave them like this in Canada. It is more conducive to skating than walking... Very un-Swiss if you believe the stereotypes!

I need to crack a whip to get the boys in shape here as we have a bus to catch in 22 minutes and they are far from ready. Lego has 100% of their attention. Girls are literally ROTFL at my feet with a voice recording device that distorts the recording to make it sound slow or Chipmunk fast.

Friz: Not too sure what to suggest about your dd2's toenails beyond OUCH! My DCs don't even like to have theirs trimmed by me for fear of having them too short. No help from me, I 'm afraid.

Happy New Year Astro! I am about... Mostly just lurking as I find it hard to catch up and jump in! Life is relentless but at least we are all healthy and far from bored!

Glad that you made it back home and that you are not killing or being killed by your parents. I don't know how you are managing... I currently have 2 other friends staying with parents due to job loss and financial constraints and they are going insane. I hope that it is short lived and that the morning sickness lets up soon.

Astrophe · 09/01/2009 22:19

Hi again all -going slowly mental here, driven mad by my children who wont stop fighting, poking, teasing and generaly winding each other up. aaaaaagggggrhhhh!! Off to a 3rd birthday party today, in a park, so hopfully a nice distraction for us all. Must dash. xxx

Cadmum · 09/01/2009 22:34

Oh Astro... I am sorry that things are rough at the moment. This too shall pass. I hope that the afternoon at the park was refreshing and got some of the sillies out of your two.

Off to bed...
