{{{hugs}}} Astro, hope the party in the park, was what they needed to sort them out.

Caddy brrrrrr, still freezing here too -01 here at the moment, well was at midday when I was out in the car, was -03 when I left house this am, we're all bundled up in doors now How's your sil getting on, is baby feeding ok now?

Cadmum · 10/01/2009 21:29

Friz: I spoke with SIL today and it is going somewhat better but still far from ideal. Won't post too many details as she is a lurker and I would hate to upset her further. I absolutely adore her and she is having a rough go.

DD2 has been an absolute horror at night this week and I am exhausted from all of the wakeful nights. Must try to pack it in early tonight and try to remain in bed beyond 8:00 tomorrow... What are the odds?

Hope you are all having busy/fun weekends!

Astrophe · 11/01/2009 03:16

Oh Caddy, hope things are much improved for SIL snd bub soon, and that they are getting great care and support.

Party at the park was lovely - nice sunny day for it, and lots of disctactions for the kids - bikes, scooters and a great playground. I think its boredom/too much time together that is making the kids fight. I have DD booked into kindy 3 days a week, and both kids in a swimming lesson 1 day a week from the end of Jan when the new school year starts, so I'm sure that will help us all.

Just had a 'Christmas' brunch with my Aunt and Uncle this morning, and this arvo I am resting while DH takes the kids to see his Dad. Peace!

Did I already say I had a scan on Friday? 12 weeks now, bub looks well and I am slowly, slowly feeling better.

Oh, Uni - do you remember me saying my kids hadn't really taken to the balance bike? DD used to use it to race down hills, but didn't really like it on the flat...well, we have lowered the seat and now its at a perfect hight for DS and he now LOVES it - spends hours a day riding it around the patio here, up and down, up and down, and just adores being at the park on the bike track. His balance is amazing! The only thing that worries me is that we had told DD she could have a 'real' bike once she had learned to balance well (was thinking for her b'day in June)...but at this rate DS will be riding a bike way before DS!

Astrophe · 11/01/2009 03:18

I mean DS will ride way before DD.

Frizbe · 11/01/2009 20:09

Astro I think we may have a similar problem here, dd2 superb balance ready to go! but has no bike of her own, dd1 has actually ridden by herself when she didn't realise it, but doesn't like too, problem we have is dd1 is tall for her age and the bike is getting too small, bike shop have advised to miss the next size, as she'll outgrow too quickly and to go straight to 18" wheel....dd2 is ready for dd1's bike now, but I don't want to get dd1 another one yet, argh, what to do?

Caddy oh its horrible when they keep waking like that (just did a week of it, but we fingers x'd seem fixed again?) {{{hugs}}}} to your sil.

UniS · 11/01/2009 20:09

Astro- LOL at dd being overtaken on a bike by her little bro. Glad he is enjoying the bike.

Had some friends over for lunch to day. very civilised, the boys played pretty well together and teh grown ups caught up on some gossip.

laundrylover · 12/01/2009 09:55

Ooh you busy bees!

Caddy, yes, let's get something sorted when you are over...give us dates as soon as you have them as we may sneak a cheap winter sun holiday in Feb....

Bikes...Kiah got a bike for Xmas but she can't pedal!! Need to borrow a balance bike from playgroup for a weekend when the weather picks up for the pair of them.

Had an awful realisation yesterday that we hadn't put Kiah's name down for preschool - der!

Caddy, I can't imagine the pavements ever being gritted in the UK - they have been like a rink for weeks up here but it's rained now. Last night was so windy that when I left a tablecloth out overnight it snapped my washing line. I am distraught!!.

Uni/Astro, it's lovely when they are nice isn't it? Mine are still fighting but do seem to be playing together better this last week - phew. Yesterday we used my friend's car (ours is temporarily dead) and went to Tropical World in Leeds. We had NICE DAY OUT despite a tantrum from Kiah as we parked next to an icecream van!!! Kindy sounds like a good idea Astro.

Cadmum · 12/01/2009 11:34

Thanks LL! I would really like to meet up. Dates are becoming a nightmare though because DH has a busy week from Jan 19-23 and then he will be away for the 28-29 as well. My lovely friend who offered to have the boys lives far from here and flights leave from here... Complicated, really.

My poor SIL is really having a time of it but I can't land on her doorstep with all four monkeys or I would be creating work rather than helping her out. ARGH! I hate this feeling.

I will let you know when I have something sorted though.

I was hoping to have it be in January but early Feb may be all that I can do.

UniS · 12/01/2009 20:52

Work today- boy screamed teh place down before going to nursery, when he got home he blanked me and refused to have any thing to do with me. Ho HUm, guess which parent he blames for his going to nursery. He does have an OK time there tho.
Play group tomorrow, so hopefully we will be on speaking terms again.

laundrylover · 12/01/2009 21:20

Uni, don't let it get to you...like you say he has a fab time when he's there. They know how to press our buttons and they're not even three years old!!

Caddy - the first week of Feb is a nightmare for me as my course in London is the first Weds of the month and then at the weekend (6th) I am of to the spa with mums from school....

Just back from Slimming World -lost five pounds so well chuffed.

Frizbe · 12/01/2009 22:06

LL well done you I had a good 1st week on ww too Went to Body Combat class today though, so will be aching tomorrow EEEek re not being on a pre school list, hop to it! i'm sure you should still be able to get her in somewhere right? What's up with the car?

I can't do March 14th as Feb thred meet up! (splitter I know) and Feb 14th out also so will see what you come up with!

Uni, oooh he is being a blighter isn't he Ignore him too, taste of their own medicine works here, might do for you too?
So its 22.04 here and dd2 is still rattling around in her bed apparently she's 'not tired mummy' help! she got up at 7am

laundrylover · 13/01/2009 12:01

Kiah now has her name down for the pre school at Tilly's school. Should be fine I hope.

Well done Friz for weight loss and excercise. I did two very icy runs last week and am back at circuit training tonight too.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 13/01/2009 20:39

Yay for Pre school and well done for icy runs, rather you than me, brrrrrr at running on ice......I did 'keep fit' today! was whammed out actually, seems everyone is doing the January thing.

UniS · 13/01/2009 22:13

that reminds me , I ought to phone preschool and check they got my form and find out IF boy has a place.
Well done LL you gt tee in the end.
Not MORE people on wight watchers, RL is full f them too. Last thursday our adult ed class was slit down the middle with teh bisciut eaters taunting the WW crew on teh other side of teh room.
Has been a day of many many phone cal, boy has watched a lot of video. well he hasn't watched any for days so won;t hurt. he needed an afternooon kicking back at home relaxing. I have got a coule of projects moving again tho, so a productive day for me if slightly stressy.

His first morning at pre preschool play group ( at surestart) was fine, as I thought he had no problems with me disappearing half way through for a coffee. next week I just stay for 5 mins of hello and welcome ritual, then go. They sing a hello song, each child is greeted by name and choses an item from bag of stuff representing what they have to lay with today and they are talked through a visual timetable for teh session.

Cadmum · 14/01/2009 13:03

Hello there!

Uni: Sorry about boy's reaction to nursery. That is never fun especially when you have to be at work.

I have booked my tickets to visit SIL... I fly in to Cardiff on the 23 and out of Bristol on the 26th. I would have preferred to stay for longer but I don't want to wait until the spring. Ho hum...

Nothing new or exciting to report from here, I'm afraid...

Frizbe · 14/01/2009 20:43

Uni, that sounds like it went better at the other playgroup then Yes, sorry about the WW, trying to get in that bikini without looking whale like at end of May!

Caddy, glad you can make it over to see sil do you think you'll have time for a meet up? or is that pushing it and totally defeating the proper object of you coming.

laundrylover · 14/01/2009 21:52

Caddy, you'll be tight for time eh? How is SILs baby doing? Where do they live by the way?

Uni, that playgroup sounds very progressive.

I went to circuit training last night and my arms hurt for the whole drive to Fleetwood and back for work - ouch!

Where are you off to in May Friz?? We are looking at winter sun ideas - maybe for Easter hols though.....any suggestions?

My sis had her 12 week scan today and only one little wriggler she was relieved to hear. Her due date is now 4th Aug....what is yours Astro?

OP posts:
UniS · 14/01/2009 22:00

Yep- sure start groups have a tendancy to be progressive round here. I think teh childrens centre are righty very proud of their Pen Green quality assurance thing and keen to Do the best for teh kids they engauge with. The group is properly called "nurture group" and is designed to ease children and parents parting as a lot of kids round here have n experience of being away from primary carer before preschool and both parents and child can find it all rather a big step.
In many ways boy doesn;t " need" the grou, BUT its going t be usefull practise getting to something on time.

Just found out today. SiL, BiL and their 6 kids have an arrival date in the UK at last! early Feb, so very soon. They will be near Leeds.

Astrophe · 15/01/2009 00:51

ooh, I remember DD taking a while to settle at nursery too - tis hard work huh uni? Sure he will learn to ove it soon enough though.

Caddy, great you have a chance to see sil, even if briefly. Maybe you can get back later in the year for a longer visit? (to see SI and LL and Friz!?)

Great going with the WW and SL Friz and LL! I have not been for so much as a walk since being Preggers. No problem with weight gain...yet...but I will need to start doing something soon or else I will be the whale-ike one very soon!

I am 13 weeks now - due date is Juy 22nd.

It is stinking hot here and a bit tense...DH being a bit of lazy bugger, sleeping all morning, so mum is huffing and puffing about that (so am I!) and mum not happy that she is doing all the cleaning and childcare, but doesn't want me to have to do it aaargh! DH spent the last 2 days helping a mate paint his house - up at 7am and out all day, but apparently has not got similar energy to expend on looking fater his own children and ill wife!? Grrrrrr.

Frizbe · 16/01/2009 22:01

{{{{Hugs}}}} Astro, I'm guessing he's finding it a bit weird being back home with no work and living with the inlaws, which could be why he was happy to help his mate out for 2 days eh..... He was always ok at helping you before though? so just wondering if he'd feel he was treading on your parents toes if he does stuff in their house, kinda thing? am I making sense? Hope he finds some work soon, so you can all get yourselves sorted out and into your own place

Uni, so if they're near Leeds, you will have no excuse not to do a meet up with LL and me

LL, oh yes I know about the achy bits I did Yoga today to stretch myself out, which worked, thankfully

Ooooh looks like we may all get some good snow next week, keep your fingers x'd girls

Frizbe · 16/01/2009 22:26

Hmmm so you need warm places in April then LL.....Canaries hotting up by then nicely (avoid Carribbean peak season) Florida is good then tho you do get hordes of US kids on spring break. Wonder what Maderia is like? or Cyprus? Depends if you want it warm or not I guess?

UniS · 16/01/2009 22:37

Friz- Yep near lEEDS, rOTHWELL TO BE MORE PRECISE. hOW FAR FROM YOU IS THAT? sorry I didn;t spot I had caps lock on, bad habit, I type looking at teh keys not the screen.

Its goin to be big culture shock for them I think, SiL left teh UK 15 year ago as a single young woman, shes returning as mum of large family and a lot has changed in teh years between.

Any of you lot found teh tea room yet? Its hiding in one child families at teh mo. nice crowd tho, fantasists all of us , happy t o share the lake, horse, aga and sofa with any seaking champange and chocolate.

Astrophe · 17/01/2009 06:21

Sydney is nice at Easter LL (actually I lie, it always rains).

Um, yes Friz, I'm sure you are right about DH. He is generally helpful and a good guy, but tendency towards depression/lethargy when not totally happy, and I know living and job situations get him down at the moment.

He was fine this am, and we took the kids to the park with scooters and bikes - both kids loving whizzing down the hills on balance bike (even DD seems to be improving! Hurrah! She may yet get a bike for her June birthday!)

This arvo though, he is a grumpy git (esp now I have kicked hi off the computer!)

Uni where has SIL been all this time?

UniS · 17/01/2009 19:25

SiL went to USA to spend a GAP year as an au-pair. While there she fell for and married a chap, has been in US ever since.

Its taken a full year and more from them " knowing" they were coming over to having the cash for tickets (from sale of house) AND all teh paper work sorted.

I'm off to work at stupid O'clock, so think an evening on eth sofa with teh TV is in order. See you mid week.

Frizbe · 18/01/2009 16:54

Oooh she might be in for a bit of a shock then eh Uni, I wonder how long they'll last here, before heading back, should we take bets?
Most bits of Leeds are about an hour from here, but there are lots of lovely places for a meet up when it gets warmer that are near Leeds I'm game!

Astro, glad you had a lovely am with the kids, we did see the Sun here today and I took the kids over to my parents, as they're off away to the Sun again for two weeks now, so we thought we'd say goodbye and visit their nice park, whilst we were there dd1 was gawping at all the kids on horses, keeps asking when she can start riding lessons/get a horse (sigh, like mother, like grandma! like daughter but so far none of us have ever afforded a horse!)
