i found it lol

missbumpy · 23/01/2008 13:34

Hello, just found you all.

How's everyone doing? Sorry I haven't been on for a while. I've been staying at my dad's in Cambridge. I went to do my driving test and I finally passed !!! I did one when I was about 38 wks pg and failed so I'm really happy to have passed. DP doesn't drive so it's great that at least one of us can drive now. I think I'll feel a bit less isolated if I can just pop DD in her baby car seat and drive to see a friend or some family.

Is anyone else's LO teething? Not sure if DD is or not but she's doing a lot of hand chewing and she's drooling a lot and having a few screaming fits. Does this sound like teething?

Also what are your thoughts on weaning? I was planning to wait until 6 mnths but DD is starting to look really interested in our food. I'm wondering about introducing a tiny bit of solids at 4 or 5 months. Sorry if this has all been discussed already and I missed it.

BTW, I still haven't got round to complaining about nasty GP.

Oh, also, I'm selling my hug-a-bub on ebay here if any of you are interested or if you know anyone who wants one. It's in good nick. I hardly ever use it.

strawberrylace · 23/01/2008 13:36

Hello everyone
Thought i would post on the new thread... Today we were going to go to the BabyBounce singing session at the library in town, but i am still full of cold, so we are staying in
Winnie - hope DD1 is feeling better
Floria - the passport thing is such a rip-off isn't it? I had 9 years to go on mine when we got married, so I just bit the bullet and changed it
J20 - hope the visit has gone ok
Apricott - i know just what you mean. Why don't you see if your library does activities you could take your lo to? There are ones all over the place where I live and they are free! Plus there's something to do so you don't feel you have to launch into long conversations with strangers straight away.
LES - I don't have anything to suggest other than what's already been posted, but fingers crossed that you get through this, and that the child psych can help. Perhaps we'll see you at the London meet?
Polar - good luck with the absent DH...
Hello to everyone else! Hope you are all having a good day!

strawberrylace · 23/01/2008 13:42

missbumpy - congrats on passing your driving test. I don't know if its proper teething, but DS is doing the same hand chewing and drooling. From what i've read this can go on for ages before a tooth actually appears. On the weaning front, I am planning to leave it as close to the 6 months as I can. DS is definitely getting more interested in my food when he's sitting on my knee and we're eating. But he also seems to be happy with a regualr supply of milk...

ejt1764 · 23/01/2008 13:42

Afternoon all ... I went for my first weigh-in today - and I've lost 4 1/2 lbs in a week - was v. surprised as I really haven't made that much of an effort! I know it won't continue like that though ...

tLES - I'm glad you've got some ideas about what could be up with ds - I hope you get some sense out of them at the hospital, and that you don't have to wait too long for support ...

I should really be sorting out my Avon order - better go and do it while I've got 5 minutes while madam is in bed!

ejt1764 · 23/01/2008 13:43

p.s. missbumpy - congratulations!!

Stefka · 23/01/2008 14:00

Yay Miss B!!!! I remember the first test - so glad you got it this time round

Not thought about weaning yet. DS not shown any interest in our food so far.

TheLadyEvenStar · 23/01/2008 14:08

I would love to come to the London meet....will have to get all the details...am loking forward to it!!!!

Katsh · 23/01/2008 14:54

hi all, just a query re weaning . My bub who I'm bf is 16 weeks and having slept through the night (12 hours) from weeks 12 -15 is now waking x2 each night for a feed, as well as feeding 2 - 3 hourly all day. I think he is very hungry and am wondering whether to start some baby rice ( as I did with my other 2, both born when guidelines said 16 weeks for solids) or start adding some formula feeds. I can't bf him every 2 hours - it's just not possible with the rest of life, but can't make my mind up what to do. I'd be interested in your thoughts - particularly from those who are bf if you've had similar experiences.
Sorry haven't had time to read all posts, but hope all ok.

MrsFish · 23/01/2008 14:55

ejt - I weighed myself today too, I have now lost half a stone since Jan 1st

J2O · 23/01/2008 15:10

missB-congratulations it gives you so much more freedom, i was on a high for months after i passed my test.

Apricott-poor you, it doesn't help with the weather being like it is to help lift your spirits, we're all here to talk to if you need us.

FT-was it you who said you wanted the reusables-you're welcome to have them, but postage will be about £5/6 i think, will that be ok?

LES-hope you get things sorted with ds, are you sure he's not turning into a teenager early? i was about 9, i'd grown out of the tempers by about 14, and dd1 seems likes she's going to follow in my footsteps also she's not quite as bad as your ds-yet.

well SS have been and gone, she said she's happy with me and has no concerns, they just couldn't understand how she fell out a baby bouncer, that'll be because it was a door bouncer and the consultant at the hospital didn't write it down properly, anyway she said she's going to recommend(sp) no further action to her manager and everything should be ok, had a bit of a fright this morning when i'd put Shannon on her changing mat with no nappy for a bit with her new play gym and 5 mins later she went really quiet, she'd demolished her gym and pulled all the dangly bits of it, pushed herself off the changing mat with her feet and gone about 2 feet up the carpet until she jammed her head against the tv cabinet and couldn't go no further! luckily she didn't have a mark and hadn't hurt herself, i think she was just annoyed she couldn't get any further

Shannon is another dribbler and rams things into her mouth, fists, her bib, my nose- apparantly the teeth are probably moving down into the gums and bothering them but they probably wont show for months.

right, i'm off out for a meal with my friend and my 2 and her 2 tonight so i'll be back later, sorry for those i missed. love to all xx

missbumpy · 23/01/2008 15:17

Thanks everyone I'm well chuffed. Have to say, I haven't actually been in the car since I passed on Monday! I'm a bit scared of going out on my own...I'm so used to having an instructor or my brother in the car with me I think it will feel weird not having anyone in the passenger seat.

Sounds like it's normal for a lot of fists in mouths and drooling then. DD seems happy enough with breast milk for the time being so I'll try to hold off solids until 6 months.

I'm v impressed with your weight loss ejt! I haven't been on the scales for a while but yesterday I managed to get back into some pre-pregnancy jeans for the first time. I was over the moon! Almost as exciting as passing my driving test!!

When's the London meet and where?

strawberrylace · 23/01/2008 15:54

J20 - that's great news about SS. And lol about shannon and the playgym. Olly is lying under his (rather rubbish one) and ramming some fish windchimes in his mouth. enjoy your meal

J2O · 23/01/2008 16:01

thanks Strawberry is it the little tikes one with an orange crab? if it is then watch the ribbons on the dangly fish cos thats what Shannon keeps putting in her mouth and pulling them off on to her head, it is really badly thought out imo but my dad got her it for xmas so thought i should try it.

strawberrylace · 23/01/2008 16:12

hi J20 - its not that one, but as i was thinking of buying a new one, i will steer clear of that. ours is wierd - it has some fixed toys in plastic but they are quite heavy and are actually quite hard to play with. the windchimes are an addition which I have tied on with a shoelace, so they dangle low enough for olly to actually play with (i'm checking the secure-ness of the shoelace now!) Ours was also an xmas present which i thought we should try...

WinnieThePooh · 23/01/2008 17:15

Hi Everyone,

DD1 is fine now,she was back at school today, thanks for all the good wishes.

I have hardly been in the house today.

Went out at 8.30am to take DD1 to school then walked to the clinic (about 1.5 miles) to get shula weighed. She is now 11lbs 12oz at 15 weeks old. She has put on 11oz in the last 2 weeks. After clinic i went ot the shops and walked home. I had just got home at about midday when a friend called and asked if I wanted to go shopping with her. I changed Shula and a quick bf before going out again. We got back to mine about 2.30 and had a cuppa before going out again at 3.10 to collect the kids from school.

I have got to get my Avon delivery sorted out tonight to get it all delivered tomorrow.

LES glad you are getting sorted with DS1.

MissB congratulations on passing your driving test.

J2O glad it went well with SS. LOL at Shannon and the baby gym. Shula cant quite reach the toys haning off hers, but loves playing with the teddies that I have put accros it for her (they are really a pram toy.

Can't remember what everyone else has said, hope you are all well.

Anyone want to meet up in birmingham next week, possibly Thurrsday?

muppetgirl · 23/01/2008 18:42

Found you all!

Thought it was a bit quiet today -here you all are !

Well done Missbumpy on passing your test, I remember those days... I passed second time after hitting the curb after seeing someone I knew and overshooting the junction on the 1st.

Ejt - fab news on the weight!
J20 -Good news on the all clear, must be a huge relief to you!

Re weening with Henry we are just going with the flow and see how long he lasts. He's 16lbs ish at 11 weeks but milk seems to satisfy him atm though he did have his first 7oz bottle today. I'll start with a bit of baby rice when he does seem to need more. He's much more intersted in trying to suck his thumb. He gets it in there but jerks his arm and then it comes out again! He is very unlike Ollie though as Ollie would have screamed the place down in anger at his thumb getting away. Henry, on the other hand, is just happy to keep trying.

House clean and I've started a woolen cross stich cushion. I am also finishing a blanket for Ollie as he wanted one for his bed.
Take care all
x

muppetgirl · 23/01/2008 18:45

Winnie - I'd be up for a Birmingham meet up of dh can take thur off (work from home)

TheLadyEvenStar · 23/01/2008 20:25

Muppet you do cross stitch as well???? thought it was only me lol

muppetgirl · 23/01/2008 20:41

Les - yep, though better at sewing and crotcheting in straight lines!!
I still cannot crotchet in rounds

TheLadyEvenStar · 23/01/2008 20:42

lol Muppet i can't crochet but love cross stitch. am just doing a sampler for the boys bedroom.

alicet · 23/01/2008 21:29

J20 Great news on ss! Oh and Floria is coming to the York meetup so you could bring the nappies there if they're not too heavy...

MrsFish and ejt congrats on the weight loss!

Missbumpy - congrats on the driving test!

Big hellos everyone else!

We have had a pretty good day. After last nights disaster of breaking Adam's cot mobile which is a total lifesaver as it plays music for 15 mins and so I can shower in peace! So I have been and bought a replacement today. Could have done without that but will probably be able to sell on ebay for not much less than I paid - as long as I don't break this one too

Been and seen some friends this pm which was really relaxing too. And dh is on a course all week and has been working in the evening but he has a night off tonight - so better not be on here too long!

Winnie do you fancy the Ledbury meetup in March? Not too far from Brum. I can mail you the details if you're interested...

Hi everyone,
J20 - glad the ss thing went ok
Missbumpy - well done on passing your driving test, it will give you loads more freedom, I remember the first time I went out on my own after I passed my test, felt weird, I only made it to the supermarket and back which was about a 5 min journey, you'll soon be whizzing around all over!
Took Dylan to be weighed today, he's only put on 1 and a half oz in a week, it's better than last week which was only half an oz but the lady who runs the baby group says she'd like to see a bigger increase and said he was ok but could I mabr fit another feed in to the day... well, if 'he's ok' why does she think I should fit another feed in? Anyway I told her he takes what he wants and we can't force him to take more, i've tried everything but once he's full he's full, even try warming the feed again if he won't take it all but if he doesn't want it there's nothing we can do... We always offer him 5oz feeds but he seems ot be stuck at 4oz, he occasionally takes the 5oz but more often takes 4oz, the rest of the time I bf him and then top him up so no idea how much he gets then? It's starting to stress me out, I keep thinking they think i'm under feeding him cause I don't know what i'm doing or something? I got him the 3 month plus teats today to see if he'll take more formula if it comes out easier, we'll see. Don't know what else to try though, part of me thinks he's just meant to be small but then he was gaining between 6 and 9oz a week at first?
Sorry I haven't caught up on all the posts, just wanted to post on the new thread, hi to everyone I haven't mentioned and I'll catch ya all soon

J2O · 23/01/2008 22:47

Hi all, can't remeber much but i'll try!

Dal-personally i don't see how you can give him any more than you do! i mean you can't force feed him, and in my experience the faster flow teats just means more goes down their neck, well it does Shannons anyway.

alice- i didn't realise FT was coming, need to match rl names up to mn names!

the meal was a nightmare, it was a really busy italian and very noisy, Shannon hates them types of places and screamed all the time we where there, which isn't like her, it was very bright too, which she doesn't like, needless to say i got very stressed and my food was cold when it came, so they got me some nore but it just went cold again while i was trying to comfort her then they tried taking my plate before i'd finished hence my rotvieler(sp) impression ;o

gotta go, lo whining for me, night all xx

FloriaTosca · 23/01/2008 22:48

Hi All
Well done on passing your test Miss B

So glad all went well with the ss J20 and lol at Shannon I'll be at the yoork meet up if you dont mind bringing the nappies, if not no probs about postage

Dalrymps,do try not to worry...my hv was on a course last weeek to adapt the charts for bf babies...Alex only put on 8 oz in the whole of the 3 week christmas period but put on 14 oz in the last 2 weeks...bf babies are just not as consistent with weight gain as ff.

muppet; when do you get the time? I started a cross stitch advent calender in April and I doubt I'll have it ready for next year at this rate!!!

Well if I want any sleep at all I had better go to bed now...I LOVE the new title, it is too true for words!!!!
