LES; me too please, just let me know how many cds you need and how where to send them. You can email me on margotcampbell at hotmail dot com.

Nellie; Thank You!!!! Just knowing that he isn't the only one helps! And as to sugar habit, OH YES!!! I can't keep my hands off biscuits and chocolate and I did the whole tray of chocolates in one day at christmas too (Thorntons continentals.. mmmm) ... it's not helping my weight loss at all!!

Hi all!
Yesterday was hectic we started with a party for a friend of oliver's which was surprisingly calm seeing as though they were 4 years olds! We had a cooked breakfast in the morning so at least Ollie had some good (ish) food in him before the party! DH then went on to play in the tennis tournament at the gym whilst Oliver, Henry and me went to see my dad. We had a cup of tea (bottle for H) and then took a wander to feed the ducks. Back to the gym to see where dh was up to and we had dinner there whilst H slept through it all. We had drinks with some friends and didn't come home until nearly nine!! Oliver has just shown us that he is a whizz on the computer on cbeebies website so we let him play with that for the evening. We almost felt like adults again! Dh came 5th with his partner so was better than last, last time.

H woke at 4am on sat morning and woke at 2am this morning he is dribbling like mad so I'm going to keep an eye on him and might be doing the baby rice thing soon. He did settle without me having to sort him out so it might be that he had a bit of a in out day so his routine got slightly out.

We were up the gym this morning for Ollie's swimming lesson. He's so fab! H slept so I had a tea and read the mags there. Back at home and dh is now sorting out the disgusting pigsty that is his study. It's supposed to be a dinning room but we didn't have another table and didn't see the point in buying one when we wouldn't be using it for a while and dh got a contract working from home for 6 months so he used it as his study. It's disgusting in there, the dogs beds are in there to so it smells! Still, at least he's attacking it now
I'm looking forward to having a space to put the pram in as it either lives in the car or in the hall and there isn't enough room for it there!

Hope all are well,
Emma

Hey Dalry - the visit was fine. I had to feed as DS was screaming but his wife BF her kids so they were cool.

As for the public thing - I have a couple of BF tops that I use but really no one pays any attention. Go somewhere you feel really comfortable for the first one to build up your confidence. I am still getting used to it myself.

J2O · 27/01/2008 20:07

Hi guys just a quickie as i've been to ikea today and am shattered, hate the bloody place grr.
anyway- i finished a week long af a week ago and now i've started again, i started taking the mini pill a couple of weeks ago too, but surely this isn't right? am panicking cos of the mix up with the smear and i haven't had the results back yet.

ejt1764 · 27/01/2008 20:16

a quickie from me ... I haven't had tea yet!

Dal, if you're starting to feed lo at a time your boobs aren't used to, then it'll take a few days for the supply to build up - keep at it - I'm so impressed with your determination! I have a bf top that I was about to list on the for sale boards, I'm happy to give you first refusal if you want. It's like this one but is a purple / burgundy colour. I like it but it doesn;t go with any of the trousers I can get into ...

anyasmum - if you email me on eirian thomas 232 AT googlemail DOT com, then we can sort out details of the joggers.

Not much news from me today - except Mairwen refused to sleep for longer then 5 minutes this afternoon - she kept being woken up by the reflux poor thing - I have to take her back to the doctor I think.

Right, going to have something to eat ... the heating element in my breadmaker has gone, so it'll mix the dough, prove it etc, but doesn't bake it ... I think I may have broken it when I tipped water into it instead of into the pan - I'm blaming baby brain!

strawberrylace · 27/01/2008 20:20

J20 - I seem to remember that the minipill can make your periods do odd things including irregular bleeding - i was on cerazette for a couple of years before ttc, and mine stopped altogether (!)

ChocolateHobnob · 27/01/2008 20:42

Ejt - poor Mairwen! Hope she gets some decent sleep tonight.

Stefka, well done for bf last night. I have become kind of blase about feeding anywhere and everywhere but I do find colleagues the least conducive to relaxed bf!

Dal, I use bf tops and the vest plus cardi/jumper combo to bf in public. I tend to end up bf in public every day, mostly because I am always out at at least one of the usual feeding times! Oh well.

Nellie - I am hungry for sweet things too. Before pregnancy I liked chocolate but not sweet stuff per se. Now I am almost an addict... glad I can blame hormones.

Alice, how was your party last night?

J20, I'm sure that's the effect of the minipill, so try not to worry. Annoying though.. I've not had a period yet luckily...

We've been to my parents today and seen half of their friends, the world and his wife, really - and so lo is shattered now as she refused to nap all day.

Polar, did you ever tell us how the christening went?

Hugs to everyone else.

AnyasMum07 · 27/01/2008 21:23

LES and ejt, have sent you emails.

Have had a bad afternoon/evening. Anya was so good this morning - well, she slept for most of it - big girl loves her own room . She's been very unsettled since though - think she might be teething as her cheeks have gone quite red and she's chewing everything in sight - she's started grabbing my sleeves when I'm changing her and stuffing them in her mouth! Can't really feel anything on her gums, although she's clamping down so hard on my fingers it's hard to tell.

TheLadyEvenStar · 27/01/2008 21:31

just found the other one....cd...baby vivaldi

Mine · 27/01/2008 22:32

can't really help those with bf as i'm not doing it anymore
But re the pill... i too am back on it and i think its hindering my weightloss.... haven;t been able to lose any of my baby weight and its driving me nuts. So much so that its really starting to effect my mood.. im constantly up and down, feeling really teary and snappy. Poor ds is baring the brunt of it. I really don't know what to do. Just feel really down and tired all the time.

i Just feel like crying ALL the bloody time. I feel so guilty about it too, in that its almost as though i'm going to spend the entire first year of ds's life in 'yo yo' mode.
Am i making any sense at all......
DH is great, he's just really loving and comforting, but my brain is jus not getting it.
What makes it worst is that every other mother around me is bragging about how quickly they lost their baby weight, and all the stupid articles in the mags keep banging on about it too.
I know i should not be obsessed about it but i am, and its really getting me down.
I'll get over it i'm sure, its just a case of when.

Getting ds weighted tomorrow which i'm looking forward to.

Good to hear everyone had a good weekend by the sounds of it

PolarMummy · 27/01/2008 22:37

Hi Choc haven't really been on here much this week as it has been a bit hectic with DH away but at least Zoe and I survived on our own The Christening went really well, the service was lovely, it was the family service so nice and relaxed and the praise band were playing so just my type of service. Also there was one other baby being Christened at the same time and her family had brought some water from the river Jordan so both babies were baptised with this which was very special Food and everything back at our house went well. Thanks for asking

PolarMummy · 27/01/2008 22:57

Eventually added some pictures of my wee dote, hope I have made them public!

MrsFish · 28/01/2008 07:41

Cute pics We have that top chair too

muppetgirl · 28/01/2008 08:18

Hi all!

Well. H slept through so I think it was just a blip as he was out of his routine.

Mine -sorry to hear you're feeling down. The only tips I have is to get out each day, even if it's just a walk round the block. Do you have any soft play centres near you? They sometimes have baby groups on a certain day -ours did. Write down why you're angry/snappy as this can help get those feelings out as sometimes they can just go round and round your head. Re the weight, the magazine ladies have reams of personal trainers. dieticians (sp?) nutritianists etc etc etc. Just think about the time they are missing with their little ones as they've got to spend hours in the gym getting that weight off. THIS IS NOT NORMAL!!!! Enjoy your lo, try to ignore those magazines, they really aren't as happy as they make out!
Good luck with the weigh in -this will show you what a good mummy you are which is the most important thing at the moment x

Polar - Christening sounds lovely, I really must get on with organising H's (I first need to get our Christening gown back from Canada as my B + SIL have it) Lovely photos of Zoe, aren't they growing so fast??

Dal - well done you for persevering!! If I need more milk I feed him when he's hungry and then just top up with formula. It works for me/us but you know your boobs, do what's best for you and I certainly wouldn't be waking a baby that sleeps through the night to feed them.

Ejt - at your breadmaker, we are thinking of getting one do you use yours a lot? I think we would but not sure...

Alice - hope your party was great!

Well, H's eyes are bad again so we are going to troop back to the drs. He's actually starting to rub his eyes now so they are irritating him. I just wish they would get better. Going to take both boys to soft play today as Ollie needs to run off some of his energy. He slpet till 6.35 today WOOOHHOOOOOOO! It's quite ironic that the 12 week old sleeps later than the nearly 4 year old I think
The study is now looking fab though we still don't have proper storage but dh wants to pay off overdraft before we buy anything more for the house. At least I can get the pram in there now, I did feel for Henry when I put him in a pram that has been in the freezing cold car. It'll be nice and sung and warm now

Off now to ring the drs to beg for an app.
See you all later
x

Dalrymps · 28/01/2008 09:30

Just a quick note cause i'm off to eat some brekkie whilst Dylan is asleep...
Ejt - that bf top looks lovely, what size is it? I'm a 12-14 depending on the top, if it's my size how much were you wanting for it? Let me know

FloriaTosca · 28/01/2008 10:37

Good morning All.
Well, another pretty rubbish night Lo went to sleep well as 8pm usual (at mums because we went for dinner)traveled home still asleep but woke and needed a top up at 9.30 as we transferred him from the car seat to the amby...I shouldhave gone to bed then too but Dh and I haven't had much "us" time recently so I stayed up untill 11.00 with him.Lo fed quickly but well at 1.20 (deflated one boob and fell asleep on the other in 10 mins!) and woke again at 3.40 for a top up (another 10 mins but not so intense) but at 5.00 started whinging, chewing his fists and drooling madly so I used some dentinox gel on his gums, but by 5.30 I was walking the hallway with him, at 6.00 I decided it was his tum and held him out over his potty which released a lot of trapped wind after which he decided he was hungry again and fell asleep on the boob by 6.30..great!...unfortunately the alarm went off at 7.00 for dh which woke lo again and I didnt get him off again until 8.30 for another hour....we've been up (again)since 9.30, both bathed and dressed and fed (again) and lo is now in his baby einstein play centre unsurprisingly yawning his little head off!!! I think I'll get him in the big pram and take the dog for his walk then at least one of us will catch up on some shut eye...
sorry..feeling sorry for myself and needed to have a moan...I'll be back later hopefully a little less dopey.

alicet · 28/01/2008 13:26

Hello ladies,

had a lovely time Sat night - thanks for asking! Got quite pissed on a g&T and a couple of glasses of one! In my pre baby days that would just have been the warm up! Never mind eh !

Well Adam is ff and still wakes at night so it's nothing like the miracle answer (Dal if you want to borrow him to build up your milk supply I could do with a couple of nights sleep although judging by her last post I guess Floria might wrestle me out of the queue!!! ) We feed him at 11 (wake him up) and then he wakes anytime between 2 and 6. If he has had a feed about 2-4 he will often wake again at 6 and I then just bring him into bed without feeding him and he will sleep until nearly 8. If he feeds later in the night he will then sleep to between 7 and 8 in his cot. So far from bad and as dh does the late feed we both get some decent sleep.

Can't remember what everyone else said but I did register you were having a tough time Mine so I'm sending you big hugs. Listen to muppet too - she knows what she is on about. If you are struggling tell someone.

Hope everyone else is doing OK. Not sure who it was that said it (nellie?) but I agree about appreciating it more this time - I too am not doing this again and they grow up so quickly. Sure the broken sleep is crap and looking after a baby is emotionally and physically exhausting but they are little for such a short time. With Sam it was all a bit of a haze reallyh and just about survival whereas with Adam I am trying to relish it more. IT DOES GET BETTER!!!!!

Oh and Dal I too am addicted to ebay - the latest is wooden train track to make a set on a board for Sam for his birthday (this is why I was too busy to post yesterday!) but I have bought loads on there in my time! Used to be lovely vintage 50s dresses - oh how times have changed!

Apricott · 28/01/2008 15:51

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all doing ok.

Sorry to hear you're down mine - Muppet and the others have good advice. Huw and I try to do something each day (even if it's a really small something) just to give us (well, me) a sense of achievement, and that seems to help my mood when I'm low. Getting out for walks is high on the list of mood-enhancing activities for us.

Sorry to hear about the breadmaker ejt - I'm still keen for a get-together. Just let me know if you're up for it .

Reading about other bf babies' routines, I'm amazed at how similar they are to Huw's self-made 'routine'. And I can't tell you how glad I am to read that the sugar thing is normal and explicable and not just me being a sweet-toothed greedy cow ! I keep eating my way through packets of Fig Rolls like I haven't eaten for a month! Nothing else will do. I crave visits to cafes to - for the cake, not the coffee (though that's good too).

Just curious - what's a doidy?? I'm guessing it's a beaker?

Well, Huw and I went to baby yoga this morning, which was lovely, he hardly grisled at all, unlike last week. Then we went for a coffee with some of the baby yoga class, which was also lovely, and we walked home the long way over the coast path. Poor dh was having visions of me and the pram at the bottom of a cliff somewhere cos I was so much later home than he'd expected, bless him.

Off now to research travel cots (like the look of those pop-up ones like little tents) cos we're planning a trip to Yorkshire to visit my sister in half-term.

Take care all,

A xxx

FloriaTosca · 28/01/2008 17:22

Apricott; we have been doing some research on the same subject (travel cots) and the lightest is the Sampsonite Pop-Up Bubble at 3kg and fits children up to 18months...as we are travelling to S. Africa in April we needed the lightest possible ....as it happens a friend already has one and highly reccommends it... the cheapest we have found new so far is on e-bay, buy it now @ £29.99 & £10 p&p.please let me know if you find anything better.

By the way; I'm not in such a grouchy mood now

nellieloula · 28/01/2008 18:08

hello - mega quick one from me to say hello and that F's deal on the samsonite bubble is really good - we have one (bought for £60 2 and a 1/2 yrs ago!) and it is really good.

rubbish night for us - mostly my fault; just so tired I'm going for the lazy option every time to no-one's benefit! (ie having her in bed so I can do easier feeds, except she latches on and snacks every 10 mins for 3 hours at a time!!) drastic measures are needed tonight!!

will try and be on later

AnyasMum07 · 28/01/2008 18:12

Agree with trying to get out every day. I always take lo for a walk in the buggy at least once a day, often twice, even if it's just to the shops (just an excuse to buy chocolate really). It keeps Anya quiet as she seems to get bored quite quickly at home even though we've got a babygym and a huge variety of rattles and soft toys for her to play with.

Went to baby massage this morning - last one as you can only book on them for one month. Anya was an angel - it's the first time she's not cried at the classes. Good girl !

She's still unsettled in an afternoon though. I'm sure she's teething so went to the chemists to get advice on gels etc but they didn't seem to know much. Might explore teething threads but must go make dinner first.

Alice - nice timing on the thing about making the most of this time with our lo's, even though it's hard work. I was feeling a little bit fed up today, just a bit tired, but you're right - we shouldn't wish this time away because it won't happen again (not with the same lo anyway). Just what I needed to read .

Stefka · 28/01/2008 18:49

Hey all,

I am totally behind in the messages but had a nightmare day. Dareh is very unsetteld - I think it is his jabs as he has an upset tummy. He's done nothing but cry or feed all day and I couldn't get him to nap at all. Am very tired!

Mine sorry you are so down - hope that things get better for you soon. Do get some support for yourself. You don't deserve to be feeling low.

FloriaTosca · 28/01/2008 18:56

Wanted to say before why I'm not in such a grouchy mood now but DH came home and so I needed to get dinner started (Slimming World Dryfried chips take forever!)...
two reasons for today..1 is I took Alex swimming (the scallywags magazine said it was mother and baby time) but the baby pool was actually shut for Aqua baby LESSONS... needless to say I asked questions and we are now enrolled for 5 classes (which only cost 20p each more than an adult swim!)and in the same magazine the was a Talkfirst Baby signing class advertised, I phoned and we are going to a taster class for that tomorrow too!
Best news of all is that Dh has done some sums and thinks we can manage without me having to go to full time teaching when Alex is 6 months old..he thinks that if all stays well I can stick to just 3 days a week until he goes to school I can't tell you how happy that makes me!

Incidentally Muppet; was it you that was looking for p/t work? There aren't many of these talkfirst babysigning franchises in the country yet and the teacher in this area is fully booked until next term; she has 3 one hour classes held on each of 2 mornings per week, so 6 classes, 15 pupils per class at £4.70 each and it is apparently great fun....does it sound like something you would like?
