Hello ladies!

Well here is the new thread so I can link it before the old one runs out... Hope you all find it!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
J2O · 18/03/2008 22:35

thanks muppet, i will try, think he's a bit shy, i might scare him! lol

FloriaTosca · 18/03/2008 22:54

Nellie; sorry not to say anything earlier...you are a marvel managing two such young los so well (crikey, I only have the one and I get close to meltdown at least once a week!)I hope having your Dh home gives you the rest you deserve, gives you back your equillibrium and allows you to enjoy your ds again.

Choc; sorry, but rofl

Alice; good to see you back but sorry you were poorly and didnt get much skiing done.

Anyasmum; Not keeping you properly informed just isnt fair! Anya is so ready to do more and their stupidity is frustrating for both her and you..I hope the consultant can get things sorted for you soon.

Muppet; I can't believe they didnt give you a 6 week check! More at such incompetance from more than one professional! Again, I hope they now get you sorted soon.

Well Alex joyously had more banana (mashed a bit this time and fed from a spoon)at lunch time and gummed a 2 inch piece of steamed carrot to death followed by more banana at dinner...weaning well and truly started then...

FloriaTosca · 18/03/2008 22:59

OOh forgot to say J20..glad test was neg again, sorry AF arrived and have a fab time tomorrow!!!(I hope he's gooorrgeouss!)

And Ledbury meet up girls have a lovely day tomorrow.

Dalrymps · 18/03/2008 23:12

Hey everyone, wish I was meeting with you all, have a great time!
J20 - glad test was neg and af arrived, have fun on your date
Muppet - at the incompitence of the nhs, I had a 3rd degree tear, the consultant at my 6 week check didn't even have a look 'down there' he just asked how everything was, I said it had been sore and pooing had been like pooing glass (sorry tmi) and he said 'oh yeah thats fine at this stage, If it's no better by 12 weeks come back... great, really helpfull! Got to have a referral to see the bum people soon, can't wait
Choc - sorry but pmsl at the poo explosion, hope it stops soon
Alice - how exciting about weaning I can't wait eek, bet Dylan will have no interest at all in food when I do start and all my excitement will have been for nothing.
Well i'm full of cold so off to bed, hi to everyone who I haven't mentioned, catch ya soon

muppetgirl · 19/03/2008 07:21

Dal -That was the same at my 6 weeks Drs check. He was a gorgeous Dr but he didn't look 'down there' at all.

2 questions ladies...

  1. I use 'bum cream' to shrink the piles. This work but what will make them actually go? I alsmost started a thread about bum cream but changed mind at the last min!
  1. If I hold a spoon for Henry to hold whilst I feed him he (he won't do this now at the Ledbury meet let's face it!!) reaches for it with his left hand. We made comments about him using his left hand more than the right when he was smaller. Is anyone elses LO showing any signs of which hand they'll use?

Am very about the meetup. Oliver is missing school (naughty me but he breaks up tomorrow for the easter hols so I don't mind really) I have multimapped directions and it says it's only 1hr 14 mins so that's not to bad at all. Ollie is quite excited in a are-there-going-to-be-any-other-children-for-me-to-play-with-mummy? kind of way!

muppetgirl · 19/03/2008 07:22

Btw, very blue skies today so all is well with the world in Muppetland x

Hope the skies are blue where ever you are today xxx

ejt1764 · 19/03/2008 09:04

Morning all ... am also v. v. excited about today!

nellie - I am full of admiration for you bf with a lo with tongue-tie ... you must have nipples of steel!

I'll say it again, as loudly as I can without shouting ... in the grand scheme of things bf is not the thing that makes you a great mum (phew, that was hard work!) ... if you can give 1 feed only, that's great ... if you can do ex. bf for 6 months, that's also great, but it doesn't make you a better mum!

... will get down at soapbox now ...

oh, and poor you, Choc - I did the covered in poo thing once with Rhydian - ugh, ugh, ugh!

j20 - so glad it'a neg!

Right, going to go and get sorted! See you later!

alicet · 19/03/2008 11:27

Choc pmsl at you covered in poo!!! Sorry but I could just picture it! Would have to be the one time I wasn't there to lend you a change of clothes wouldn't it?!

Nellie Sam just had his tongue tie divided in a clinic with a bit of local anaesthetic spray. I was given the option of coming back to do it under anaesthetic which was more like heavy sedation and that was all to be done as a day case. Good luck! She will be fine x

J2O hope your date goes well! Looking forward to hearing all about it!

Sorry some of you are having a less than good times with the nhs. Working in it I can confirm that the inconsistancies do my head in on a daily basis and the best thing I can advise is to read up LOTS on what you should expect and if you're not happy with what you are told get a second opinion. Can check what you girls with third degree tears should expect as was working with a bum doc who specialised in this before I went on maternity leave (which might have influenced my elective cs decision a bit ) if you like? Baby brain has dissolved a lot of the info but I know how to find it!

Anyway hello to everyone else! Just off now to go meet Ledbury girls! Very excited....

ChocolateHobnob · 19/03/2008 12:09

Thanks Alice!!! It was v odd going without you and Adam yesterday... we missed you..

Hmm the meet up will be in action! How exciting. Am jealous - and dying for a report back!

MrsFish · 19/03/2008 14:08

J20 - Good Luck on your date

Muppet - Sam used to do everything with his left hand when younger, since he turned two though he has started favouring his right hand. I think they are ambidextrous when younger
Also I'll be interested if you get an answer about the bum cream I think I may have to resort to surgery to get rid of mine

alicet - sorry you were ill whilst skiing DH has been away in France skiing for 5 days. They initially went to Morzine (sp?) is that a place? but there was no snpw so they drove to Courcheval and ended up staying there instead

Dalrymps · 19/03/2008 15:27

Any advice welcome here

alicet · 19/03/2008 16:12

Just back from meetup and I had a lovely time. Muppet, ejt and Apricott were all lovely as were their lo's! Ollie came too and was very well behaved! Much impressed - going to get him to give Sam lessons! Only sorry I live too far away to make it more of a regular thing - will def be in touch when we're coming back down...

MrsFish glad you survived while your dh was away skiing! Def think you should bank this one for when you want some me time!

OK will be back later.... Dal off to check your thread.

Back from the meetup! It was fab finally putting real live faces to names - real names too! Huw and Adam are so cute and Mairwen looked gorgeous in a mummy made (you'd think it was shop bought though) poncho. Henry was a good boy and so was Oliver!! I do admit I was a little worried about him coming as I wondered how he'd behave but he was fine adn even ate most of his dinner (and a hotcross bun on the way home ) The journey there and back was a good one and the blue sky made it feel like spring had arrived!

Well H has just had his bottle and a bit of banana adn baby rice adn now he's in bed as he's rubbing his eyes like mad. Think I'll have to give him a bottle at 10pm tonight as he missed one as we were travelling but he didn;t complain at all. He's slept through the past 2 nights now ie going to bed at 6.30pm and sleeping through till 7ish am. (Sorry Choc ) Ollie is still up at 6am ish shouting 'Daddy, I've done a poo!'

Need to go now as have to do some washing -J20, have a good night tonight x

J2O · 19/03/2008 18:05

omg i am so nervous! just waiting for my brother to give me a lift, my friend whos got Shannon just rung me, she wont stop crying!!! she always goes like that at this time when someone else has go her, but i can't cancel, he's already on the train from Leeds... babble babble.

J2O · 19/03/2008 18:06

glad it was a good meet up y'all xxx

Stefka · 19/03/2008 18:52

I am way behind again. Been ill with food poisoning I think. Still feel pretty rough and very weak. I've started Dareh on a little baby rice at tea time and he is gobbling it up! What did people do next and when did the start giving more?

I've also ordered a Mai Tai to help me with him in the day - I really hope it arrives soon!

Hope to catch up soon!

AnyasMum07 · 19/03/2008 19:23

Anya's just rolled from her front onto her back - she can go both ways now! !

Continuing saga of scan. Rang paediatric consultant's secretary this morning who at least had Anya's file . She didn't even know that they weren't doing sedated scans anymore and didn't think the consultant knew either . Why is everything so uncoordinated?? She promised to find out what's going and get the consultant to sort it out. Here's hoping.

Muppet - at your problems. Medical stuff's a nightmare isn't it? at your dh's response - maybe that's just a knee-jerk reaction - if everything gets sorted now he might be persuaded . And lol at your bum cream thread suggestion - chicken! Anya uses her left hand more than her right I think - I did wonder if that's because it's her left hand that's more free when she's held in my left arm iyswim.

Choc - big yuk at Rebecca's poo. But also very funny .

lol at J2O's thread names. Good luck with your date. Surprised at boots - maybe they only do them in certain stores.

Stefka - hope you're feeling better. I kept Anya on baby rice for about a week then started on purees - carrot, sweet potato, parsnip, apple, pear.

Anybody heard from LES lately? Wonder how she's doing?

Dalrymps · 19/03/2008 19:25

Glad you all enjoyed the meet up!
Hey Stefka, sorry you've been so ill, glad you're feeling a little better. Wow everyones starting weaning aren't they, you can mix fruit/veg purees with the baby rice as another taste or just give fruit/veg puree on it's own, think thats usually what people do next? Lot of info about what they can have on here
J20 - hope you're having a nice time!
Got to go bath Dylan now, back later, catch ya all soon

muppetgirl · 19/03/2008 19:34

muppetgirl · 19/03/2008 19:35

muppetgirl · 19/03/2008 19:39

MrsFish · 19/03/2008 19:45

LMAO that is sooooo funny

muppetgirl · 19/03/2008 19:48

ing still...

ejt1764 · 19/03/2008 19:59

tee hee muppetgirl!

Thoroughly enjoyed the meet-up today - am absolutely knackered now, mind! The M4 was a tad busy, and scrambled my head a bit!

Muppetgirl, you'll have to email me your address so I can send you some of Rhydian's jigsaws. Oh, and I'm glad you liked the poncho - am a bit ! I'll bring my hook and yarn to the next meet-up so I can show you how to do rounds.

Am going to watch Location yada yada, then at 9pm the pattern for the yarn smackdown is out ... duelling with crochet hooks ...

Dalrymps · 19/03/2008 20:03

LOL muppet, I wouldn't be embarrased if I were you, it's obvious what you meant to write and i'm sure people will realise that. Still quite funny though ...
Not sure whether I had piles or not there was a point at around 6 weeks where pooing felt like glass but I took lactulose for a while, drank lots and made sure I had cereal like bran flakes for breakfast and it went away, as I say though it might have been a kind of tear that hadn't healed and not piles but i'll never know.
