RGPargy · 25/01/2008 16:24

Is there a writer's strike on here as well as in Hollywood?!!

OP posts:
silkcushion · 25/01/2008 16:55

hello Rg I am here

It's a funny thread isn't it? Some days nothing and others everyone goes mad!

Oh bugger dd has just woken up - I'll have to come back later

littleoldme · 25/01/2008 17:02

Hi all.

Silk - That guy sounds like a right tosser - and that's swearing { as my gran would say ]

Berry - Sounds like you've had a wonderfully busy day.

RG I'm not on strike but I have been glued to the TV All afternoon for some reason ...

Well I finally gave in today and bought Thomas a dummy. I worked like a charm. he can now suck on it rather than me to get to sleep.

I'm going to try and go to my book group next Friday so I'm glad I've found a way to get him to sleep without me. Once he's sparko I take it out and he doesn't seem to care.

Wonderful to hear that everyones LOs are thriving.

Anyone heard fron Loopy or Djarm ???

RGPargy · 25/01/2008 19:06

Hi Silk - read you later lol.

LOM - Ah the good ol' dummy. Wouldn't be without mine now (well, Ellie's not mine). She's had hers for 3 weeks now and it's like i have a different baby!

Haven't heard from DJarm lately or Loopy for ages actually. I'm sure they're just busy with having three kids.

The HV came round today and weighed Ellie. She now weighs 10lb 3oz!!! That's a lovely 4oz since last Friday. She said with that weight gain, it was ok to leave her sleeping and to let her go every 4 hours during the day now rather than every 3 hours. I was feeling really guilty about not feeding her after 3 hours, although Ellie wasn't particularly bothered lol.

Time for some Toblerone. Back later.

OP posts:
littleoldme · 25/01/2008 19:22

RG - Why did you have mention Toblerone? Now I want one. My nana always used to get us all a massive one for christmas. Even now I can't quite get over the novelty of being able to buy one whenever I want, It's the same with white bread. I used to partial to a findus crispy pancake too but I'm not sure they make them any more.

DanJARMouse · 25/01/2008 20:11

HELLO!!!!

So sorry guys, have had manic week and we are at dads at the moment!

All going well I think, Daniel is thriving (read that as beefing up and looking a right little bruiser!) and SLEEPING!!! WOO HOO! We are getting him to bed around 6pm, we have been waking him at about 11pm for a feed and then he sleeps through to anywhere between 4 and 6am!

Shame the DD's cant take a leaf out of his book!

I also start work on monday am doing 5 days shifts next week as an induction, then 3 induction night shifts the week after and then hey presto Im up and running as a team member on the 3 night shifts a week! I am a little scared about going to work next week, especially as it is day shifts, Dh will be on his own with the kids a lot!! (He is more than capable, but wont stop me worrying!) At least when Im on nights I wont be really missing anything because they will be in bed!

Hope all your babies are being good and keeping mummy happy! xxx

silkcushion · 25/01/2008 20:43

LOM - don't bother with the findus crispy pancakes. DH and I bought some a few months ago cos we both loved them as kids and they were rubbish. Don't know if they were always that bad and our tastes have become more sophisticated (unlikely) or maybe they've changed them.

Rg - I don't actually like toblerone

Jarm - good luck with the new job on monday, must be reassuring to know yr leaving the littlies with their dad! I'm starting to feel worried about leaving M at nursery - was ok with it but since she's been ill I don't want to leave her. Start back f/t on 25th feb

berrybliss · 25/01/2008 20:45

Coxy145- I've just e-mailed you

Hope you and ds are good speak soon.

berrybliss · 25/01/2008 21:08

Silk- that doctor sounds awful more interested in his holiday than your poor dd.
Hope her skin is getting better and the NHS drs are able to get to the bottom of it.

Jarm- good luck back at work!

Busy day today washing, washing, washing and more bloody washing!!
Gave the house a quick spring clean as Coby has a good long nap from 12ish till 3 most days. (i usally watch tv or mumsnet in this time)But today i though i better give the house a once over! Specially as MIL was popping over. She Loves ds and she's lovely with him. He recognises her and smiles and chats away!

Whilst she was over it gave me chance to pop out and go food shopping. Dp normally goes because its easier, but that means the food shopping cost twice as much and the house gets filled with chocolate, crisps, icecream biscuits, which are so tempting.

But i'm meant to be losing weight and dp can eat anything and doesn't put on a lb. I need to run or something or maybe not

RGPargy · 25/01/2008 21:30

LOM - have you tried the white chocolate Toblerones?? They are seriously to DIE for!!! Oh and they still do make Findus Crispy Pancakes but i'm not sure they're the same as they used to be. It could be that these days they're not deep fried whereas back in the day everything was deep fried wasn't it! Oh those were the days.....

DJarm - good luck for work on Monday!! Very at Daniel's sleep pattern!

Silk - You dont like Toblerone?!!!!

Berry - I know how hard it is re losing weight. DP and I keep saying that the diet starts on Monday but then inevitably something will come up that will warrant us "celebrating" with chocolate or wine or (more likely) both.

OP posts:
berrybliss · 25/01/2008 21:37

Chocolate [drool emoticon] I'm trying to keep away, i brought dp some chocolate biscuits....... maybe one wont hurt ........i feel a clubgate coming on

RGPargy · 25/01/2008 21:40

PMSL Berry!!!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 26/01/2008 00:52

Sounds like I should give the crispy pancakes a miss and just be happy with my memories >
They are most def what my mate would call a food of shame - a bit like Tunnocks Tea Cakes

Silk - Sorry you were disappointed.

Berry - Mmmm Clubs - are you fruity or minty. I used to love the orange ones.
DH does that with the shopping too. Last time he bought loads of things that I usually 'forget' like single malt and mince pies.

RG- I'll get a white one next time I go shopping. Sounds goooooood. My mate makes a mean Toblerone fondue.

DJ- Good luck with the new job . You will rock.

I can't quite believe LO has stayed asleep. I thought I'd post whilst he settles himseld and he has. Fed and snoozing in less than 30 mins, he must know I'm feeling grotty with a cold

RGPargy · 26/01/2008 11:41

Morning everyone

LOM - You could always try crispy pancakes deep fried if you want to see if they are still the same. Not sure i can be bothered to do that tho so will probably join you on the Crispy Pancake Nostalgia Train.

Clubs - i used to (and still do) love the orange ones. Yummy!

Ellie has decided that she will start to play up at bed time now. We put her to bed and then guaranteed she will spit her dummy out. So we go up there, replace it and before we've left the room, she's spat it out again and is whinging for us to come in and keep her company. She doesn't seem to want to go to bed on her own and will only settle when we're in the room. I might try and give her a massage after her bath tonight and see if that helps. I also might try and give her a dream feed when we go to bed because she's waking every 3 hours through the night and to be honest, it's starting to knacker me out. It's probably just a growth spurt but i need some ZZZZs!!

The HV said yesterday that going by her growth chart, she thinks Ellie is building up to sleeping alot more and should be more favourable about sleeping at night. (!!) I really hope it's true!

Hi all
Please stop talking about food, I have a HUGE appetite at the moment, my initial weight-loss has gone into reverse! Had a lovely bacon sarnie this morning with a hot cup of tea (usually luke-warm by the time I get to it so it was a novelty). We are having the in-laws down tonight and cooking them steak the Gordon Ramsay way - anyone watch his cook-along thing the other night? I didn't cook along, just drooled over him and his steak and chips .

Well Adam slept through again last night (only for the third time in his life, nothing to get too about) and weirdly he only seems to sleep through when the DH is not around in the evening and at bedtime (he had gone to a Linkin Park concert). I don't think I do anything differently when I am on my own with him but maybe he does get more milk because I am the only one holding him and he does seem to view me as the one-stop milk shop.

Good luck with the new job JARM! I used to work in a nursing home (is that what you said you were doing?) and I loved it.

Thanks for the expressing advice Berry, I have been trying to express a bottle in the morning . Not having much success giving it to Adam yet as one time he screwed his face up and it did smell rank (must have gone off for some reason) and another time it leaked all over the fridge - I was v.peeved at the all my efforts going to waste!

Hope you get some proper sleep soon RG, I'm sure she is building up to it, Adam started to go for longer at around 6 weeks.

Interesting about the dummy LOM, I have resisted until now but Adam has become a v.sucky baby recently and it might just do the trick.

Hope you all have a good weekend x

RGPargy · 26/01/2008 14:11

Didn't watch Gordon Ramsey but wish i had now! Steak and chips!! Yummy!!

Talking of dummies, my HV said to me that if you introduce a dummy to them, they have to have it until they're at least six months and that you couldn't just give it to them and then take it away after a couple of weeks or whatever. Not sure why, but i spose it kinda makes sense as far as making them feel secure goes once they start with one. I thoroughly recommend them. They've saved my sanity!

Afternoon ladies,

I've just spent a couple of days at my mum's getting rid of the remnants of a cold. It was lovely and DS didn't want to come home!

Had a meeting in Manchester with a client so decided to use it as an excuse to take DS on his first tram ride. He seemed to think it was one big adventure - oh to be young and full of awe.

I have decided to change my nickname - purely because I felt like it. You can call me Charming for short (obviously because I am extremely charming). But not Charmin coz that just sounds like something one wipes one's bum with.

Got to go - Sara seems to have decided to poo just after I have given her a bath. Back shortly.

ThisCharmingMum · 26/01/2008 15:07

Oh - by the way - it's choudru here!

RGPargy · 26/01/2008 15:45

Hi ch-ch-ch-Charming! Sorry, couldn't resist!

Are you having a Morrissey moment?

OP posts:
silkcushion · 26/01/2008 17:13

I'm an orange club kinda gal too

I am thinking about food constantly at the moment but I have started weight watchers on line - it will be 2 weeks on monday so heading for my second weigh in. Lost 5lbs in week 1 and think it might be 3 this week. Tbh I am eating a variety of food - more good stuff and less shite than before buyt still having treats. I lost almost all the bay weight as soon as I gave birth (only 1/2 stone left) but 2 months of eating non stop all day has added a further 5lbs back on! was fat before being pg too. Need to lose another 1/2 stone so I can get into my work clothes - not much time left - 1 week and I've decided that I want baby no 2 - will start trying at the end of 2008 but don't want to be fat again before getting pg.

Anyone else's baby just so cute you could eat them up? M is lovely at the moment - smiling at anyone who talks to her

silkcushion · 26/01/2008 17:14

@ typos
BUT not buyt and BABY weight not bay weight

RGPargy · 26/01/2008 17:47

Oh Silk, dont talk to me about weight gain!! I'd more or less lost my baby weight too with the exception of about 7lbs and have now put about another 7lbs on, if not more! I will start eating properly (honest!) but the doctor has said i cant diet whilst BF. (woohoo!) I think i might have to cut back on Clubgate and Muffingate as well as the vino and i might actually start to lose weight again....

How is Megan now? Is she getting better? Ellie is also adorable, although sometimes i have to really work at her to give me a smile. Her most smiley time is when she just wakes up - then she's all beams and smiles at me. She beams at DS and DP without much effort from them tho!
