Morning everyone

IT'S DISHWASHER DAY!!! HOORAY!!!! It's coming between 1 and 5 so i'm going to be building up some dirty dishes for its arrival.

LOM - Bedtimes are a bit up in the air for us too really. I like Ellie to be in the bath by 6, but this never happens til about 7 and then she normally hangs around downstairs with us for a bit. Depending on our mood, we either try and put her to bed at 8pm (normally more like 9 or 10) and then spend an hour going up and down the stairs replacing her dummy til she's just too tired to care about it any more. She then normally wakes every 3 hours for feeds. Having said that, last night she fell asleep at 9pm (in my arms) and she slept until 3am!!!! That's the longest she's slept in a row for a long time. She seems to know when mummy needs a really long sleep. So then i just put her dummy back in and she slept for another hour, then was up again at 8am. I agree that a baby so young should be able to have a cuddle etc, but i like to think that Ellie associates her bath with bed/sleep in preparation for a possible routine being gradually introduced as she grows.

Sarah - i desperately need a hair cut and colour too (and i mean DESPERATELY!). I am on the verge of buying a pump so i can express some and DP can give it to Ellie while i'm out getting pampered. Good luck with the jabs today.

Anyone else's LO having an old man moment? Ellie is losing her hair quite badly now. She started off with a lovely mop of auburn hair but now she's really receding and her hair line is very much like her daddy's! I can see teh new hair growing through tho so it's not too bad but we are having to do comb overs already!

Morning ladies,

Happy Dishwasher day RG! In honour of this auspicious occasion, I might even try my dishwasher out today.

HV just came and weighed Sara - she has put on 6.5oz! Hurrah!

So my bristols do work!

LOM - will e-mail you about getting together. Hob nobs - great minds think alike

About night time routines. I think Sara is shifted 3 hours. She stays awake all evening but likes a good long nap in the morning. I must admit it suits me this way for now because it gives me time to sort out myself and DS with breakfast and morning ablutions. I love the sound of people putting their babies down for bed early evening - it sounds so organised!

Sara's hair is getting thicker if anything.

As for my hair - i can't remember the last time I had it cut!

Jetgirl - where did you get your lasagne recipe from? I still have a fridge full of courgettes from last weeks shopping mishap.

Have a lovely day everyone.

berrybliss · 23/01/2008 12:09

RG-{grin] comb overs eh!

Sarah- You can express everyday, I only said it to Fiona as she'd have a massive freezer full before she starts work if she did! I just suggested starting a bit now so that she gets a head start.
I don't really enjoy expressing either, PITA but the more i do it the better i get. (I have a hand held pump) You can give a bottle everyday if you like, give chance for DP to have a go at feeding but you don't need to. I just express as and when i need it really. DP doesn't feel like he's missing out on feeding.

berrybliss · 23/01/2008 12:20

little- we have our own bed time that works for us Coby goes to bed between 10-11 and gets up around 9-10. (unless we have something to do early in the morning)This works well for us as i'm really not a morning person. But i'm sure it'll change as he gets older and i have more to do in the mornings. I think whatever works for you and your baby!

You can always put into place a new routine later on. Just might take a few days for it to click into place, but its still def possible. Just do as you feel best!

berrybliss · 23/01/2008 12:23

choudru- well done with weight! Thats excellent, your mummies finest does the job!

SparklyGothKat · 23/01/2008 12:27

callum is losing his hair, he looks like a monk in reserve he has a small area of long hair at the top so he has a mohawk too.. lol

RGPargy · 23/01/2008 14:42

IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE!!!

jetgirl · 23/01/2008 15:25

Woohoo for RG's new dishwasher! Enjoy

LOM - I don't put William to bed until I go at around 11, it's working at the mo with regards to getting decent sleep and it's what we did with DD who, at the age of 2, is usually asleep by 8pm and wakes at 8am. I think routines have to be flexible to suit your lifestyle, do what feels right to you.

choudru - congrats on Sara's weight gain. The recipe is from The Pasta Bible, would you like it?

all this talk of hob nobs, got to go and raid the chocolate hobnobs in the kitchen without DD seeing!

silkcushion · 23/01/2008 15:37

a quickie to let you know we ended up in a&e last night with M. Were admitted and have jsut been released - off to see private dermatologist in a moment - hope he can work out what is wrong - the paediatricians couldn't - just got symptoms under control - severe allergic reaction

RGPargy · 23/01/2008 16:03

Well it's here but i've not played with it yet as I'm waiting for DP to come home and plumb it in. I could do it but i cant be bothered lol.

Choudru - Hurray for Sara's weight gain! Mumma's best is obviously doing it's job.

Sparkly - Ellie also has a mohawk. Funny isn't it lol.

Silk - oh hunni, how worrying for you. Poor little Megan. Please let us know when you get any news.

DD has a monk-do bald on top and longer at the back. She had some hair to start with but it mostly rubbed off.

littleoldme · 23/01/2008 16:43

Thanks for advice girls. I just had a sudden panic that I was missing something.

He's been absolutely sparko since 11! Methinks he's not going to fancy any snoozing tonight.

Enjoy the dishwasher RG

Pixiefish · 23/01/2008 16:52

dd2 has put on 7 1/2 oz in the last 6 days. She is now 9lb 12oz @ 12 weeks old. Getting there i hope

RGPargy · 23/01/2008 18:25

Nice one Pixie!

What happens at the 6 week post-natal check up? You dont have to have internals or anything, do you?

OP posts:
RGPargy · 23/01/2008 18:30

I've got mine tomorrow, that's why i ask lol.

OP posts:
fiona76 · 23/01/2008 19:44

RG- Not much really! They asked me about 6 questions how feedings going, if you are depressed and if you have had sex yet, contraception etc. No internals here thank goodness I think we have all had enough action in that department to last us awhile.
Saying that I have a smear test booked tomorrow and DD 8 week jabs so a crap day all round.

SparklyGothKat · 23/01/2008 21:07

yah!! Pixie!! Callum is now 9lb 14 at 17 weeks old and still breastfeeding

RGPargy · 23/01/2008 22:15

Fiona - phew, that sounds more like it. IIRC, when i had DS all those years ago, they gave you an internal to check you were back to the way you should be IYSWIM Yuk.

Sparkly - you are doing so so well - you must be very proud of yourself to have come through such a journey!

How's this for nostalgia? We've just had a POWERCUT!!! Haven't had one of those (that i can remember) since the 1970s! Back then the powercuts were quite frequent and it was nothing usual. It was weird seeing the whole area in complete blackness and then watching little lights appear in the windows of the houses as people light their candles!

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 24/01/2008 00:09

lol we had a powercut a few months back!! We were without power for 12 hours!!! It was cold and horrible

SparklyGothKat · 24/01/2008 11:43

where is everyone??

Well, Callum had a terrible night, he was screaming all evening till 11, but then only woke at 4am.

Me and misdee are doing a funrun next month to raise money for the British Heart foundation, so if you can, can you please sponsor me at my fundraising page Thanks

Loopy, have you found out the weight of the Isofix base?

Hope everyone is well

fiona76 · 24/01/2008 11:48

Hi just been for DD jabs I also had a smear as I was due and the nurse told me I should have had one post natally anyway so they might want to give you one RG- sorry about misinformation. The doc that saw me on my 6 week check up said I didn't need anything else so maybe they just change their minds as well.

Anyway the jabs went ok. DD screamed but I feed her during and afterwards and she is now asleep after having a bit of calpol. She is 9 weeks today and was 10lbs 5oz and 59.5cm so long lean fighting machine.

jetgirl · 24/01/2008 17:41

silk - hope Megan's okay, how did the appointment go?

sparkly - I'm doing the run in May, with my Mum as my Granny died of heart problems just last year, good luck! (Haven't started training yet though!)

When I had my 6 week check I asked about a smear as mine was due in October, GP said to wait six months to let everything settle down, and to give me a break from having my bits rummaged about with!!

Had William weighed today, he's 12lbs 6oz at 9 weeks so doing very nicely. He slept for 7 1/2 hours last night!!! Though didn't actually fall asleep until gone 2am...then DD woke up feeling rotten and I fell asleep in her room only to wake at 3:30 and find her asleep on my hair so I had to remove myself very carefully.
Great news - community nurse told me I should eat more - I already try to ensure I'm getting my extra calories but I should be having bigger breakfasts apparently (I normally have 2 bowls of ready brek), so must stock up on chocolate I think

berrybliss · 24/01/2008 18:23

Hi everyone,

Had my busy Thursday again! Bf training (9.30-12) Then young mums (12.30-2.30) Then as i was in a socialising mood went round to a visit a mum who i met at under ones for natter!

bf training was really imformative again today, the biggest shock i got was that the weight chart in your red book is actually designed for formula fed babies!

You can get a growth chart for breast fed babies here for boys and here for girls
The kellymom website is really great for breastfeeding info. So if you have any free time its really worth a look.

Had Coby weighed today 11 weeks on Saturday and he's 14lb 7 1/2 oz!!! what a little whopper!

silkcushion · 24/01/2008 21:02

and at all these massive babies!!

Megan is better again today - has started feeding well, lots of wet nappies but still a bit grizzly. Dermatologist was f**king useless - I am
He really couldn't have cared less. He refused to discuss all the problems of the last few days and said "I'm off on hols tonight so I'll refer you to a colleague". Am going to be even more angry when his £150 bill turns up. NHS drs were so much better and took loads more time (even though they were all snowed under). She is now being looked after by an NHS senior paediatrician who specialises in allergies. Will be called to clinic in a few weeks for check up. Fingers crossed she's ok.

RGPargy · 24/01/2008 22:10

Evening everyone!!

I finally made it to the laptop tonight. I've hardly had the chance to have a number 2, let alone go on the net today!

Sparkly - 12 hour power cut is hardcore! Thankfully ours wasn't very long at all.

Fiona - Ellie has her jabs next Friday. I'm not looking forward to it at all! I dont want her to feel pain

Cant believe the weight of some of these babies!!! They're massive!! Ellie is getting weighed tomorrow as the HV is coming round and I'm hoping she'll get into the 10lb bracket lol.

Silk - Glad Megan is better today. How annoying that you had a shit dermatologist. I'm sure the good ol' NHS docs will work it out in the end. Hang in there.

Went for my six week check today and the doctor bloody weighed me! He took one look at my weight and said "you're a big girl aren't you!". He started saying that i really should do something about it and then asked if I was breastfeeding. Of course i replied that i was and he said that i cant diet whilst breast feeding! I asked about exercise and he said it weas fine to do full on exercise rather than gentle post natal exercise. Basically he was happy with me except for the weight.

No other news to report! The day seems to have flown by!

Have a good sleep everyone.
