silk - sounds exactly like Ellie's skin too, although i'm not sure its inflamed, but deffo red, v. v. v. dry, spotty and sore looking. Have a nice time with your parents.

awwww at Megan and Ellie. Ive been lucky with my 3 in that none of them have suffered as yet with their skin.... sure it will come though as DH has horrible excema.

We have had a not too bad afternoon and evening, Daniel was down for the night by 7.15pm, and DH woke him at 11.30pm to change and feed, which he is just finishing now. Fingers crossed we miss the clockwork 1am waking.

DH has also painted the bathroom - i did help! It is now a lovely shade of "spearmint" rather than bloody magnolia! Have decided I hate flat pack furniture though! Bought 2 rattan basket storage units, and the wooden frames needed put together - my hands are still red raw from the bloody screwdriver!

Got Dad over tomorrow to help with the decorating/kids/trip to the dump so that will be good, and my mate is coming over tomorrow evening for a chill and chat. Sunday will be a calm down day - probably a complete PJs and DVDs for us all, before the manic that is monday arrives! I have the task of finding Jessi a new pre-school... hopefully next to the primary school I have just applied for!

RGPargy · 19/01/2008 16:07

Afternoon everyone.

Wow, it's been quiet on here today! I guess you girls are busy having lives!

Jarm - did Daniel forego his 1am feed?

Nothing much to report this end. We're off out to the pub again tonight and this week's excuse is that it's my birthday on Monday so we just have to go out!

Ellie's skin seems to be alot less red today, after applying the cream. It's still very dry but it doesn't look as angry as it did yesterday. Hopefully this is a good start to it clearing up.....

Have a nice evening ladies.

Good news re Ellie. Megan's skin looks a little better today at last and she slept from 11.30 - 7 without making a single peep. In fact, I had to wake her at 7. SHe then slept from 8.15 til 11 - so i've barely seen her

fiona76 · 19/01/2008 18:10

Wow silk lucky you!! DD also slept well she went from 9.30pm til 6am. My boobs were leaking all over the place from 4.30am on I should have got up and expressed but couldn't be a*. DH is sick so we have had a quiet day so I'm a bit bored but hopefully we'll get out and about tomorrow.

Tara!!

sarahloumadam · 19/01/2008 18:34

Hi all, just signing in. DH is away for the weekend so haven't got time to catch up properly but hope you all having a good weekend. Adam slept through last night which was lovely but my poor boobs! Milk everywhere apart from my breast pads which were bone dry.

New picture of the LO on my profile - looks a lot older than 8 weeks don't you think?!

Take care and have a good evening xx

RGPargy · 20/01/2008 10:32

Good news re Megan's skin too and at her sleeping!!

Sarah - lovely pics on your profile.

I'm getting very at all your LOs sleeping through. Ellie seems to be back to feeding every three hours again, including through the night. [knackered] Oh well, probably just a growth spurt.

berrybliss · 20/01/2008 11:50

Morning all,

Im also very at your los sleeping through.I might put lo back into his cot to see if he'll sleep trough he's hardly feeding at night now. (not sure of exact times as co-sleeping and im never really awake when i feed)

Went to the cinema yesterday with dp mil looked after lo. We went to see I am Legend. I thought it was pretty good, i was jumping all over the place its pretty scary in parts, but i'm a wuss.

It was lovely spending some time with just dp but i did really miss Coby. And when we came back he really smelt like mil (she smells nice) which is weird as i'm used to him smelling like me. He's had a bath this morning and still smells like her. Has anyone else found that they don't like it when their LO smell like someone else?

relaxing Sunday today! did all the house work and food shopping yesterday. So just a few loads of washing and lots of telly and comfy clothes.

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 12:39

I spoke too soon. Terrible night!

I went for a swim late yesterday afternoon and when I got back Dh was very worried about Megan's skin - a huge blister like thing ahd appeared on her tummy and round her side onto her back. Had no idea what caused it - she didn't seem bothered by it though.

Put her to bed at 7pm as normal but she cried on and off until when I checked her at 8.30ish she now had a huge blister type thing on her forehead and neck.

Took her to a&e who passed us to the out of hours gp centre next door. They said it is urticaria - an allergic type reaction. The skin flared up very quickly but went down veyr quickly. He said could give anti histamine medication if we really wanted. I said only if necessary - so we didn't.

All night she was v distressed. Skin flaring up in different places. Then dh had sickness and diarrhoea (slept in spare room and was in and out of loo all night) - hope he hasn't got novovirus!

I looked up urticaria on line - v itchy which might explain her discomfort. Also likely to be an allergic reaction to penicillin - which she has just finished a course of.

Also worried she's not eating - didn't finish her feeds yesterday afternoon/evening/night. This morning she had 3oz and vomited - never throws up. Has just had another 2oz. Should have had 12oz by 11am usually

DanJARMouse · 20/01/2008 13:06

aww silk, hope things get better soon.

Daniel had a very bad day yesterday, was very unsettled from 3am and that continued all day. My dad finally managed to get him settled at 5.30pm last night, slept til 10.30pm, fed, smiled loads, slept til 3ish and then woke again at 6 and 8.20, so overall a much better night.

Daniel was very sick yesterday but is so much better today, back to being smiley happy boy.

Happy Birthday for tomorrow RGP - hope you have a lovely day.... and hope you enjoyed the pub last night!

Not up to much today, went to car boot first thing, am at dads now for lunch, and then home to do loads of washing - Rebecca's bed was soaking this morning so need to get sheets and things done, as well as daniels cot bedding as he has been sick too! ARGHHHHHHHHH

RGPargy · 20/01/2008 16:41

Girls - Infacol on your laptop keyboard is NOT a good idea!! I knocked over a full bottle of Infacol onto my keyboard but thankfully it was only a splodge, but that stuff really spreads quickly when you spill it! Thankfully i had a muslin handy but i dont know how long this laptop will keep working until the Infacol gets the better of it...

Silk - Sorry about Megan, the poor little thing! Sounds really painful! Hope she gets better soon.

Berry - i'm totally with you on the smelly thing! When MIL has been holding DD for ages, i can always smell MIL on her and it's odd isn't it. Not like MIL smells unpleasant or anything, but i know what you mean!!

Jarm - sorry Daniel was unsettled yesterday. Hope he was better today.

DP and FIL have moved the washing machine into the conservatory from the kitchen today in preparation of my dishwasher that's arriving on Wednesday. I finally got a dishwasher after about 15 years of wanting one but not being able to have one for one reason or another. The only way i could finally get is by stamping my feet and demanding one for my birthday. It worked! Not a great birthday present, i know, but at least i finally get to NOT look at dirty dishes all bloomin day (i'm sure they breed when i'm not looking).

Have a nice evening!

OP posts:
silkcushion · 20/01/2008 16:51

Jarm - sorry Daniel had a bad day.

RG - congrats on yr new dishwasher - no idea how I would cope without one now.

Megan update - vomiting was followed by diarrhoea. Not eating, very drowsy. NHS direct said take her back to gp out of hours place - saw the same dr. He thinks she has viral gastroenteritus (sp?) or norovirus - same with dh. He said she is dehydrated but not dangerously so. Has prescribed an antihistamine for the skin flare up thing.(which he thinks is a result of either this virus she is fighting or allergic reaction to the penicillin she was on)

Pharamacist was less keen for me to use it though - said it will make her drowsy and then it will be difficult to judge if she is going downhill cos of illness or drowsy cos of medication. I don't know what the hell to do. Don't want give her medication - but she is very itchy and distressed . Poor little girl! I'm going to wake her every half an hour to get fluids into her. gP said not to worry about milk if she won't feed just get water into her

RGPargy · 20/01/2008 17:50

oh silk you poor thing - and of course poor poor megan! If the doc thinks she should be on meds then maybe you should give them to her AND wake her up? What a worry for you. Will be thinking of you xxx

OP posts:
silkcushion · 20/01/2008 18:13

thx rg - it's just dr said whether or not to give meds was up to me

RGPargy · 20/01/2008 18:22

Do you think she will benefit from the medication? If you think it will ease her skin and make her more comfortable then i would give it. Just my personal opinion tho.

OP posts:
Pixiefish · 20/01/2008 19:42

silk- can you use an emollient on her?

berrybliss · 20/01/2008 21:54

silk- I hope Megan gets better soon and i hope your not too worried.

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 22:05

Hi all - well I gave her the antihistamine medication at about 8pm cos she was crying so much and I think her skin was really bothering her. Despite my worries about drowsiness she has been more alert and awake since then than at any time in the last 24 hrs!

She has drunk 4oz of milk since midday - all of it has been thrown back up. She wouldn't take water (does normally) so I went and got baby juice from the co op. I diluted it down even more and she just drank 8oz!!! Had 2 consecutive dirty nappies (green but not diarrhoea) still not doing wet nappies though The juice and medication seems to have done her the world of good - she's just fallen asleep. Skin is normal (apart from eczema).

Pixie - I started a thread on here for advice re eczema a week ago - someone suggested Aveeno. I had been using diprobase (suggested by hv). GP prescribed Aveeno on thursday and it is working alot better - skin is less rough and dry but not normal at all.

I just need to keep an eye on her now to make sure she doesn't dehydrate. dr said not to worry about feeding her - milk is more likely to be vomited - so I'll stick to the juice for tonight.

Pixiefish · 20/01/2008 22:12

silk dd1 has chronic eczema and I have foudn Aveeno to be the emollient that best suits her. She's 4 now and the most important thing is to keep her skin hydrated.

I'm scared stiff of dd2 getting this norovirus- we really can't afford to have her lose any weight at all as she's still only 9 4 1/2 @ 11 weeks- she still looks newborn

silkcushion · 20/01/2008 22:21

Sorry to hear about yr lo having eczema. DH's family have it and dh is allergic to lots of things so I guess it was highly likely to happen to Megan. We are seeing a dermatologist on Wednesday for some more advice. My GP isn't entirely sure it is eczema (but it looks like it). It didn't respond to the first lot of hydrocortisine we were given. Some emollients are making it worse - like oilatum in the bath.

Gp gave antibiotics last tues to see if it was a skin infection of some other sort. this si possibly what has caused the latest problems - a reaction to penicillin. I asked the out of hours dr today whether it was novovirus and he said probably - difficult to be sure as lots of sickness/diarrhoea things going around.

DD didn't put any weight on last week (first time that's ever happened) and that was before she stopped eating properly - she's probably lost it now. Yr dd isn't losing weight is she? Just gaining very slowly?

RGPargy · 20/01/2008 22:23

Silk - wow, so glad Megan is getting better. The meds must be doing her the world of good and must be stopping the itching, which of course is going to make her feel 10,000 times better. Hope she carries on with her recovery.

Ellie's skin has suddenly got alot better on the diprobase - even since this morning. It's getting alot softer and smoother now. I hope it's just a short lived thing......

OP posts:
silkcushion · 20/01/2008 22:33

glad to hear ellie's improving

You were right about the medication

Right - I'm off to bad as I got virtually no sleep last night!

RGPargy · 20/01/2008 23:13

awww bless ya. N'night Silk. Hope you get some good rest. x

OP posts:
Pixiefish · 21/01/2008 08:21

silk- she is slow to gain but there have been a few weeks at the starty where she was losing loads.

glad you're seeing a derrmatologist. i have to say that some things will work better than others for her

SparklyGothKat · 21/01/2008 08:30

pixie, I am scared of callum getting the norovirus too. he is 17 weeks and only 9lb 14.
