Cheers RGP - have e-mailed you.

Have a top night all XX

ChocolateHobnob · 15/01/2008 21:57

hi all

Pixie, sorry about the small weight gain - you must be so tired. Hugs.

Sparkly, Callum's doing so well.

Sarahlou, how come your doctor weighed you?! Mine didnt. I dont want to know how much I need to lose...

RG - we did baby massage today too! and did same as you, feet and legs and bottom. It was fun. Our coffee was in the room itself and there were no cliques... Rebecca was too inquisitive to look at me too, I was a bit annoyed!

Last night was abysmal - her longest sleep period was 25 minutes. Mostly it was 15. I am a walking zombie today. We have a routine - bath, feed, lullabies, sleep, all in dim room after bath, but it isn't very speedy... However. Today I introduced massage into the routine! I massaged her after her bath and she loved it, and didnt cry when I dressed her which she usually does. I enjoyed it too - I felt v calm when I was feeding her. I've lost the sense of calm now because I anticipate a crap night again, but we've swaddled her again and hope it'll help (we used to swaddle her and stopped... but needs must - we need to find a way of getting more than 30 mins unbroken sleep!).

Hope everyone else had a better night!

Pixiefish · 15/01/2008 22:25

poor you choccie.

I'm not bragging but little Swyn sleeps from when we go to bed till about 5 or 6 in the morning. I generally have to try and wake her about 4 for a feed as the weight issues mean she shouldn't be going that long.
Normally don't get to sleep till about 1 though but she will normally go 4 or 5 hours at night. She generally (didn't today) sleeps fro about 3 hours in the morning so I get to do stuff and is then awake all afternoon and most of the evening- apart for an hour or 2 here or there

sarahloumadam · 15/01/2008 23:29

Chocolate - I wanted to be weighed cos I thought it might motivate me to do something about my belly. Doesn't seem to have had that effect so far! Fingers, legs and toes crossed for a better night for you.

Choc and RG - v.jealous of your baby massage, I can go to a couple of sessions but not till end of Feb. Think DS will enjoy as he is v.tactile baby. RG ikwym re feeling bit out of it. At mother and baby group last week most people seemed to know each other already. Adam decided he needed feeding 10 mins before the end so in the end I was sat there on my tod waiting for his lordship to finish. Going again tomorrow so hoping to meet another loner like me!

SGK - wow that pic is amazing!

JARM - your LO is adorable.

I have to jump through hoops to get smiles but they are worth the effort when I do. BUt his smiles turn so quickly to crying sometimes! Today DS woke up, beamed at me then started screaming his head off. Talk about mixed messages .

sparklygothkat · 15/01/2008 23:51

Callum had his jabs today, i couldn't hold him so a nurse had to. the nurse was an older lady, and she said that Callum made her broody and that hadn't happened in a long time lol!! She also was shocked that I use washable nappies. But Callum did scream I felt so bad, it took about 20 minutes for him to calm down.

silkcushion · 16/01/2008 08:52

Megan is on antibiotics . Her skin became really sore and inflamed on Monday night. Dr thought last week it was eczema but when I took her back yesterday he wasn't sure. The hydrocortisone cream isn't working. He's trying antibiotics and we've to go back tomorrow. If nothing has changed then she'll need to be referred to hospital.

I've changed her formula to a soy based one in case she has a lactose intolerance or something like that. The skin problems have occurred since xmas which is when I switched from mainly ebm to ff.

I spent a lot of yesterday in tears - it's horrible to think yr lo may be in pain. Megan is a very happy, smiley, chatty little girl but in the last few days she is crying and grizzling more whilst still trying to smile.

I really had a go at dh last night cos I'd been out to play badminton, got back at 10.15 - he hadn't made up the formula, had not bothered to cook himself any tea - just eaten cheese and crackers. Hadn't used a plate so mess all over the kitchen worktops and floor!!! This was after I told him I'd cleaned kitchen and mopped floor yesterday. Anyway I flipped and went into a huge rant. He said sorry and he thought I was worried about dd. Then I just burst into tears

Sorry about the miserable bloody post. Megan has been all smiley and cute again this morning (just put her down for a nap)

Hope you all have a good day

RGPargy · 16/01/2008 09:27

Morning everyone!

Thought i'd chuck a quick post in before i go off to meet another MNer to go shopping with (oo 'ark at me being all sociable!).

Choc - the massage is lovely isn't it. Did you get a little book and some oil too? There weren't any cliques either in my group, but as a straggler, when you're trying to find a seat you just look for someone who's looking at you in a friendly way and make a beeline for them lol. I will be early next week tho, dagnammit!! So sorry about your rubbish night! You must be exhausted! Hope you have a better night tonight. I might try massage before bed too actually (before bath tho coz of the oil). It might help Ellie to go to sleep in her basket rather than downstairs with us.

Pixie - Ellie is the same as far as daytime naps are concerned. She has a morning feed and then sleeps for a couple of hours. After that, it's cat naps only until she (finally) goes to bed when we do at about midnight.

Sarah - Sympathies re the loner sitch! We should be in a group together. We'd be ok then! Glad i'm not the only who has to really work at getting smiles. I thought i was doing something wrong!! It's the unexpected smiles that really tug on the old heart strings tho, isn't it?

Sparkly - hope Callum's feeling better after his jabs.

Silk - Poor Megan, bless her cotton socks. Hope she gets better really soon. So brave of her to keep trying to smile at you, awwww As for DH, i think i would have flipped at him too, especially after the stress of Megan's skin. Dont worry about miserable posts. We're all allowed to vent here about anything - that's what we're here for! Big hugs.

Right, i have to keep reminding myself that i must allow at least an extra 15 minutes to get out the door now that i have a baby to take with me, so i'd best go and put my shoes on and get Ellie ready so that we can actually leave on time lol.

Have a nice day everyone.

Morning all,

SGK- Callum looks huge next to that sleepsuit!

silk-Hope megans skin gets better soon and its good to know that its not effecting her mood.

sarah- I'm all for the diet i went out and bought a new digital scale, work out dvd and healthy food.

But it was DP's birthday yesterday and i made him a really gooey chocolate fudge cake, and even though i knew how much fat and sugars it contained, i had a lovely big slice.
and another one for breakfast. Now i've had to hide it ontop of the fridge. Feeling very guilty and fat. I'm determined to get back on the waggon. HEALTHY EATING!(i've still got over a stone to loose)

RG- Baby massage sounds lovely i'm going to look for a class near me.
Cobys 0-3 sleep suits are becoming too small so were going to try the 3-6 today. Hope you have a lovely day shopping.

LizzieO · 16/01/2008 13:09

Hey how are you my lovelies

haven't had a chance to post for a while, life is so bloody hectic at the moment, i am loving it though with my two gorgeous boys

Ollie 10 weeks tom. and 11 Ib 2, as at weigh in yesterday, last two nights he has gone from 8.30ish thru till 3.30ish, so i don't want to speak too soon but perhaps he is beginning to sleep thru [wary face emoticon]

took Ollie to baby massage in my post natal group this am, he lasted about 5 mins before grizzling bless him, TBH i knew he wld be like that because we had to lie them on their backs, and he absolutely hates being on his back

Silk - sorry to hear about Megans skin, i hope its diagnosed soon, i'm sure she will be fine , i would be worried too, you just want everything to be alright with them don't you.

Berrybliss - LOL and slight drooling at thought of cake for brekkie mmmmmmm. I have nearly 2 stone to lose, i'm not even going to think about losing weight until i have BF, what is the point, i should however consider finally getting off my lazy ass, thing is the only spare time i get is in the evening, and them half of that is taken up with cooking and eating dinner...excuses excuses excuses

RG - hope you enjoyed your shopping trip

have a great day everyone
Lxxx

littleoldme · 16/01/2008 13:57

Rg - Thanks for the DVDs, they arrived this am. I dare say I'll settle down to them at about 3 am given the way that t is going.

fiona76 · 16/01/2008 15:44

Afternoon- went to aqua aerobics this morning it was really good again. DD was awake the whole time and watching everything happily came home and had a big feed and has been asleep for a couple of hours. What a treat to have such a good girl.

She has changed her feeding habits the last few days and is now going to bed as normal at 6.30-7 and then waking at 8 for another feed then going through till 3 and then waking again at 6am. My boobs haven't adjusted and are leaking at all the wrong times.

My gina ford routine is out the window a bit but she still seems happy and is sleeping well during day and at night so I can't complain. I guess knowing the GF routinues has given me the guidelines and stratgies to adapt to our own rhythm and she is a lot more content than before we tried it.

As I said the house is on the market and we had our first viewing last night. Its a bit stressful keeping the house tidy with an 8 week baby and a DH who thinks that the 'lived in' look is fine (his idea of lived in is different than mine) Anyway the lady really liked the house and asked if she could have our furniture if she bought it (no!!!) but hasn't put in an offer.

My weight watches has gone out the window a bit. Even though my period hasn't started I feel like I have PMT with all the choc cravings I have been having the last few days. I haven't gone over my points though but I get loads because of BF and having such a high weight to start with. I don't own scales so can't really keep an eye on weight loss but will judge on clothes feeling looser. My sister actually lost weight while pregnant and is now slimmer than when she was married (her DS is 6 months)

I tried to book in for baby massage but there is a waiting list. I think I will just do it myself so if they tell you anything good RG and others doing courses, do pass on the knowledge. I must get ome proper oil, which one is best??

Pixiefish · 16/01/2008 17:02

All this talk of weight loss lol.

I lost 2 stone within 2 weeks of getting home but then we had the weight problems with dd2 so i have put it all back on since Christmas. I hadn't put it on by Christmas though when dd2 was 7 weeks old- think i was a bit ill tbh.

Need to lose it again (and some) but daren't even think about it until dd2's weight has stabilised..

weighing tomorrow- wish me luck

ChocolateHobnob · 16/01/2008 17:37

Hi all

Silk, hope Megan's okay...

RG, Sarah, I went to a baby social today and it wasnt cliquey, it was really nice! And it didnt feel uber competitive like NCT ones sometimes do (my experience). It was small and babies were of different ages.

Fiona, the oil we were recommended and have been given is organic sunflower oil (ie edible). At home I had baby massage oil so am using that for now but will move onto the edible stuff - as the teacher pointed out you want to avoid the baby swallowing the other stuff, but for now there's no risk cos I'm just doing her legs, feet and bottom!

Well, news from here is good- we swaddled Rebecca last night and she slept from 10.30-1, from about 2-3, then about 4.30-6. Which is fantastic for her!

Have a good night, all.

silkcushion · 16/01/2008 18:32

glad you had a better night Choc

Megan is no better today but we'll see what tomorrow brings

fiona76 · 16/01/2008 21:27

I'm about to buy a cot . Does anyone have any tips. What size, make, mattress is best?

berrybliss · 16/01/2008 22:07

pixie-hope it goes well tomorrow.

fiona- we just got a midpriced one and midpriced matress from Babies R US. They had lots of choice.

I dinged my car driving out of PIL (it was pitch black and i was reversing) and broke thier massive plant pot and dented my lower bumper. Very pissed off . I've had the car less than a year. I managed to find another bumper on e-bay that matches my car for £60 inc delivery which isn't too bad. I wonder how much it will cost to fit?.....

RGPargy · 16/01/2008 22:26

Evening ladies!

Phew! Finally made it on here after an action-packed day! Well, it was action packed for me anyway, seeing as i'm normally doing sweet eff eh all day!

So i've been to the shopping centre and met up with another local MNer there, who was also meeting up with some people from the bounty forum who were all really really nice and welcoming! I thought that as they already knew each other and meet up every Wednesday, I would be looked on as an outsider but they were all very friendly and joined me into the conversations which was really nice. We met at 11am and we just sat and had lunch and chatted. I made my excuses at 1.30 (!!!) as Ellie needed a feed (it was the awkward boob's side so i didn't want to feed in public - not sure i would have been brave enough even with the good boob side!) and i had to go shopping for myself and Ellie. Both of us came out with a new clothes and we got home at just gone 4pm! Ellie was a star tho and only got fussy a tiny bit when i'd been spending too long in the changing room, bless her. I bought some 3-6 clothes for Ellie and although they are big on her, they're not toooo big, IYKWIM.

We're trying to get back into the sleep "routine" tonight. Ellie has had her bath, a nice feed and has been in bed since 8.45pm. I've lost count of how many times we've been up and down the stairs to replace her dummy however (plus one bout of tummy ache), but I think that perseverence is the key!

Berry - hope you find a massage class. It's worth going, deffo! Cake for breakfast? You sound like me!! I've been eating chocolate chip muffins for breakfast for the past few couple of days. It's a great way to start the day!

Lizzie - hope you get your sleep through! Sounds promising doesn't it! Shame that Ollie didn't like the massage. Could you not prop him up a little rather than him being flat on his back? I'm starting to think about losing weight too - but not doing much about it either. I really must try and eat less chocolate/cake/rubbish but i cant bring myself to lose all that comfort food just yet. As I type, i am currently waiting for pizza!!

LOM - glad you got the DVDs. There's no hurry for them back so take your time and enjoy!

Fiona - You're so good going to aquarobics! I put my hands over my eyes in a "la la la i'm not listening!" type style when i see your exercise antics. You're putting us all to shame!! LOL @ the "lived in" look. DHs really have no idea sometimes do they? As for massage oil, we've just got organic sunflower oil as it's natural etc. The lady made us test a little patch on baby's wrist before we used it on the babies just in case, but everyone was fine.

Pixie - i lost quite a bit of weight when i first had Ellie too and have also put it all on. I thought BF was meant to make you LOSE weight, not gain! Mind you, when i first lost it, i was hardly eating any meals due to tiredness and everything being thrown out with a new baby etc. Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow!

Choc - glad you enjoyed your social today! Good news about Rebecca's sleeping!

OP posts:
silkcushion · 17/01/2008 00:07

Get you Rg you social butterfly - glad you had a nice day.

I've started weight watchers on line. I lost the baby weight immediately (all bar 1/2 st) and then put 5lbs back on (seems like a recurrent theme here). WW is quite good so far (day 3 of not eating shite constantly) it has made me think about the rubbish I've been shovelling in. Think it's just boredom tbh.

Exercise - I've done my Davina or Yogalates dvd daily for the last week - only about 30 mins at a time cos Megan either wakes or I'm so knackered I think I'm going to collapse Last night I went back to the badminton club I run for the first time since having dd. Have been to other places (easier) DH forced me to go for my own good - I felt tired but afterwards felt great (until the crying/shouting incident when I got home). I find it's always the same with me and exercise. I can't be bothered and have no motivation and feel too tired but if I force myself I feel more energised.

Talking of tired, what am I doing on here when dh and dd are asleep??!!!

silkcushion · 17/01/2008 08:51

bad night with dd - she woke just after my last post and then cried on and off til 2ish. Then woke again crying between 4-5.30. Slept til 7am when I woke her for her feed.

She was rubbing her face lots last night - think maybe her skin is itchy or sore. Also I have changed to Soy milk and she hasn't pooed since night before last (she was previously a twice a day girl).

Was planning a walk this afternoon with the NCT girls but it looks like we'll get soaked so may have to change to coffee and a chat instead

Pixiefish · 17/01/2008 09:50

Total stress this morning. I'd left something on on my jeep and the battery was flat. Booster is with MIL who isn't well and is in bed. Had to trot with dd to school and we were 10 mins late. It's a hard old walk as we live quite a way out of the village.

Dh had to come home to help me when I got back to make sure it is the battery (it is).

I have to pick up dd from school in an hour and then drive for 45 minutes to get dd2 weighed. Just hope the car will start aftre school and the weigh in. I am so stressed it's unbelievable

RGPargy · 17/01/2008 11:24

Silk - good luck with the Weight Witches! I'm with you on the boredom eating too. I think that's how Clubgate and now Muffingate started. It used to be "because i can" when i was pg. Now it's "because i'm bored and in need of comfort" that's the problem. I know i should eat better food, but hmmm.... apple?.... cake?.... apple?....cake?.... I know which one would win every time! I have been thinking of doing my Tae Bo DVD tho as it's only about 25 minutes and seeing as DD only catnaps during the day, it's more do-able than my hour long step videos at the moment. Glad you enjoyed your badminton. DP and I have been known to play in the past pre-pg too. It's a great way to let off some steam isn't it!

Sorry last night was pants for you. Hope tonight is a better one.

Pixie - how annoying re the battery!! Dont worry tho, once the battery has been charged and you've been driving around for a while, the alternator will help to re-charge the battery so you should be ok. Just make sure you turn everything off again! And BREATHE.........

DD had a fairly good night last night. We spent the first hour going up and down the stairs and replacing her dummy because she kept waking herself up when it fell out, but after that we didn't hear a peep from her from 10pm until 4am, then again at 7am and i finally got up at 9.30 and ended up having time for a shower, hairwash and moisturise all BEFORE she woke up! I had to clatter around to "accidentally" wake her up in the end lol. Hopefully the aerobics up and down the stairs will be slightly less tonight.

OP posts:
DanJARMouse · 17/01/2008 12:02

YAYYYYY for sleepy Ellie!

Daniel is starting to be a pain at night! He goes down like a dream anywhere between 6-7pm

Last feed usually about 9-10pm but is then awake at 1am like clockwork, takes 2oz, back to sleep til 5am, another 2oz and then up for the day like clockwork at 7.15am!

Just wish he would take more than 2oz at his 1am feed, at least then he might go through til 7.15am!

He is taking 5oz every 3-4hrs during the day now, and getting REALLY big!

Am getting all his tiny stuff sorted ready to ebay - will be sad to see it all go, but as DH is getting himself snipped, its for the best!

Glad you had a good day yesterday RGP - ours was pretty crappy to be fair, so didnt get to post office - DH going this afternoon x

silkcushion · 17/01/2008 12:43

Jarm - have you tried really waking him up properly at 1am. Lights on, nappy change - the works to see if it helps him take a bigger feed?

Dr has referred us to hospital - will post more later - need to get to pharmacy

DanJARMouse · 17/01/2008 13:14

i guess its worth a try hey! We do tend to just feed in te dark and back into the cot unless we can smell (or feel!) poo!

Right - plan for tonight then is waking fully, nappy change with lights on and then feed and back into cot.... can only hope!

We had tried dream feeding at 11.30ish but he wasnt interested and i didnt want to force him!

silkcushion · 17/01/2008 13:24

I suggested it cos Megan was the same with her 10.30 feed. Taking 2oz and then waking an hour or so later. It seemed high risk cos you want them to know it's bed time but it means that she is full enough to sleep through.

It might be worth getting Daniel to take a big feed at 7pm and 10pm and he might drop his 1am altogether - sleeping til 5/6. He's younger than Megan though isn't he? She's 10 weeks. I have found that if I wake her at 10pm, change her nappy, lights on feed at about 10.30 she is then ready to go back to sleep at 11.30pm without a fight. I used to feed her, wind her and put her straight down but get loads of protest. I guess at 1am you want it to be a quick quiet feed. If she can't hold out til 7pm for a feed then I let her have 2oz at 5.30 to keep her going.

Good luck
