Jarm - No probs re post office stuff. Silk's solution sounds like it could work. Good luck!

Thanks silk, will give it a go. Daniel is 7 weeks today! (Doesnt seem possible!)

RGP - has gone 1st class this afternoon, so hopefully get to you tomorrow if not satuday at the latest! (have proof of postage here in case there is a problem - too much of my stuff goes missing!)

Daniel has been asleep all afternoon - since 12.45pm! Am considering waking him for a feed in a minute so that we can get a 7.30pm feed and 10.30-11pm feed.... fingers crossed for more than 2oz!!!

Take care all, will catch you later xxx

RGPargy · 17/01/2008 16:28

Thanx Jarm! Hopefully i'll get it tomoz.

3 1/2 oz gain this week taking my little dot to 9lb 4 1/2 oz at 11 weeks

Car on charge. It's heavy on the battery RG- apaprently the security system fair drains it. It went flat when I was having dd in hospital as no one drove it for 5 days. Can't believe I was so stupid- I know there are probs with the battery. It's on charge now as well as me having driven it today. I normally do loads of short trips (crap fuel economy on short school runs)

silkcushion · 17/01/2008 17:06

good gain pixie

sparklygothkat · 17/01/2008 17:11

well done Pixie! good gain

Callum has started feeding every 2 hours, which means I can't even go to the shops without feeding him. I hope he goes back to feeding every 3-4 hours soon. [tired]

berrybliss · 17/01/2008 19:23

evening all! V.busy day today with bf training and mums group till 3.
Sparkly i'm so tired too. I think Callum must be having a growth spurt with all that snacking it's good because he's increasing your milk supply.

ChocolateHobnob · 17/01/2008 20:51

Well done Pixie! Great news.

Hmm about eating... I am blaming bf for my hunger. I accept it MAY also be greed but hey, bf offers a good excuse... My weakness is chocolate.

Well done sleepy Ellie! and Jarm, your nights with Daniel sound good to me! I guess it's what we get used to...

Last night we didnt have as good a night as the previous night but nothing like as crap as usual so I'm pleased, all told. We had a lazy day today apart from a walk around the local shops this afternoon - M and S, Next, Mothercare etc. Tomorrow I'm taking her into town to meet DH and a friend for lunch and then am shopping - for a coat with a hood or something to stop me getting soaked on my pram walks in this dismal weather. Any ideas where I should look??

She is still bottle refusing which is a bit of a PITA... any suggestions??

sparklygothkat · 17/01/2008 20:56

chocolate NUK bottles are great, you can find them in large Boots, the teats are made so the baby has to move their mouth the same way as bf. SCBU nurse recommended them to me as Callum was refusing all bottles.

RGPargy · 17/01/2008 23:01

Evening girls.

Pixie - great news re the weight gain! Yay! Do you perhaps need a new battery for your car? If it's going flat alot, it normally indicates your battery's had it. Even just parked up shouldn't drain your battery that much. But hey, i'm no mechanic.

Sparkly - A well earned growth spurt for Callum, perhaps? Hope it doesn't last for too long tho!

Choc - i'm deffo not blaming hunger for me eating crap. I'm just being greedy.

Remember i mentioned about Ellie's spotty skin? I think we may have found the culprit. DP has been giving her baths and we use the Johnson's sleep better stuff in the purple bottle. Anyway, i went up with DP today while he was giving her a bath and he was putting the bubbly water on her face and gently rubbing it (to clean it) I had to tell him not to do it and that they should only be washed on their faces with water. Poor fella, he assumed (as would I) that as it was baby bath stuff, it would be ok for all over. Just goes to show you how harsh the stuff really is. Thankfully the rest of her body is fine. I put some olive oil on her face and then took her to bed where she has remained since about 10.30ish, and so far we've not had one single dummy interruption. She's been quite sleepy today, i do hope she's ok.....

Have a nice evening everyone.

Pixiefish · 17/01/2008 23:37

battery's fine, i'd left it in a certain mode where things like the radio and other stuff were on stanbdby. tis a problem with Jeeps apparently- American design lol.

Suggestions please on bottles/teats. I have the tommee Tippee bottles but swyn sicks up most of the formula aftre she has had it- it comes up with her wind. It's only after the bottle not after the breast.

She guzzles the milk quickly- I can hear her taking the air in.

Does she need to go up a teat sort of thing. No experience of bottles that's why I'm asking

RGPargy · 17/01/2008 23:55

Fair enough, Pixie!

Re bottles, Sparkly has suggested the NUK teats as they have to work at them like they do the nipple. Might be worth a go to stop her guzzling?

OP posts:
silkcushion · 18/01/2008 07:39

pixie - i've just gone up to a level 2 tommee tippee teat and dd is guzzling v quickly now and sometimes possetting which she never did before. perhaps you need a slower teat. my sil swore by nuk bottles though

DanJARMouse · 18/01/2008 07:44

i swear by dr brown bottles. expensive yes, but worth it if you have very windy babies!

silkcushion · 18/01/2008 07:47

daniel sleep any better?

RGPargy · 18/01/2008 09:36

Morning girls

Another nice night sleep-wise last night. Ellie was in bed by 10 and then woke at 3.15, 6.45 and 8ish.

Off to get her six week check done today and i'm going to get her rash sorted too hopefully.

Have a good day ladies!

OP posts:
sparklygothkat · 18/01/2008 10:21

Hi all, Callum slept from 11-7!! I woke up in shock. I don't panic when he sleeps a lot as we have a breathing monitor, which he has only set off once a few weeks back, I panicked then!

Pixiefish · 18/01/2008 10:24

I had the MAM bottles to start with but they leaked with the base- it's a funny design.
Mind you I only need 1 bottle as I can wssh and sterilise it as I go

fiona76 · 18/01/2008 11:42

Morning!

Sparkly- Wow great sleep! He must be getting enough food during the day with all his feeds to sleep that long.

DD is still feeding at10pm, 3ish and 7ish. DH was a honey last night and bought her to me for each fed as I was knackered. By the end of the week I am tired I don't know why because everyday is much the same- it must be psycological.

I'm going to my friend with the twins today for coffee and cake. They were due a week after Anabel but were born 2 and a 1/2 months early and are still tiny.

sparklygothkat · 18/01/2008 11:46

have decided that I am going to get fit... hahaha!! I brought an exercise dvd yesterday and started it today.. I nearly kneeled over after 15 minutes.. I couldn't even finish it.. How am I supposed to do a 3 mile run for 'race for life' if I can't even do a dvd in the comfort of my own home?? I am so unfit!!

RGPargy · 18/01/2008 12:23

Just got back from the doctors. Ellie is growing nicely along the 50th Centile line. She's grown 3cm in 2 1/2 weeks and has put on 13oz too, so she now weighs 9lb 14oz and is 56cm long. I asked about her face too and unfortunately it's eczma (sp?) so he's given me a prescription for some lotion to put on about 6 times a day. Poor little thing, it must be itchy!! I'm surprised she's not really ratty with it itching, bless her.

Sparkly - wow!!!! What a sleep!! Lucky you! Dont worry about your fitness - you'll get there eventually. Just keep at it and you'll soon be running a 26 mile marathon!

Fiona - seems our DDs have a very similar feeding pattern. Enjoy your cake!

Jarm - Got the Wilki today, thank you! We'll be trying it out a bit later when we go to the chemist and up to Homebase. Thanx again!

OP posts:
DanJARMouse · 18/01/2008 12:59

RGP - glad it arrived safely. Ellie sounds liek she's doing great! Daniel is 56cm long too! (but he is a chunkier 10lbs 10oz!)

Daniel and sleep were not to be used in the same sentance last night! I thought we would have a bad one because he slept literally ALL afternoon yesterday.

He did have bigger feeds though which was good - DH is converted to putting the light on and waking him fully lol

On the plus side though - my girls, who are known for their appauling sleep patterns, and are usually up for the day anywhere between 5.30am and 6.15am, slept until...... drumroll please....... 8.05am!!! OMG! The latest they have EVER slept has been 7.45am so we are WELL CHUFFED!

Weather is crappy here today so have been doing loads of tidying up and de-cluttering. Trying to get the house in some sort of order so we can continue with the decorating! Everything got put on hold about 2 weeks before daniel was born, and we havent done anything since! OOOPS! DH says he is going to paint the bathroom and toilet tonight and tomorrow, with Dads help as he is coming over tomorrow. Then I can get my bathroom cabinet up on the wall!

Hope you all have a good day and take care!

silkcushion · 18/01/2008 15:51

Jarm - well done on the girls sleep (I guess you can't have it all at once can you?) and I'm glad Daniel took larger feeds - it may still work at fixing his sleeping yet!

Rg - sorry Ellie has eczema. What cream have you been given?

Fiona - I know what you mean about feeling tired at the end of the week. Silly isn't it? As everyday is essentially the same.

Megan is finally sleeping a little less in the day. She has been very sleepy (almost 20hrs out of every 24) since last weekend. DOn't think being on antibiotics has helped her much. She has been more alert today though - but can't cope with more than 90 minutes before flaking out.

Sparkly - the running can be done. I went from novice to doing 3k in 6 weeks and I wasn't as trim as you

RGPargy · 18/01/2008 17:59

Jarm - Glad you got a lay in

Silk - Ellie was prescribed Diprobase. We've put some on and it seems to be easing the really bad dryness a little so we've got to put it on at least six times a day apparently. Bless Megan for being all sleepy. Ellie's been like that for the last 2 days, although i'm not on antibiotics so i am not suer whether to worry or not lol. The doctor seemed to think she was absolutely fine tho so i guess i'm just paranoid!

OP posts:
silkcushion · 18/01/2008 18:05

my hv recommended diprobase - she says it's great. Hasn't worked for Megan though Her skin isn't just dry though, its red, inflamed, rough and sore looking. Poor little thing. Think the extra sleepiness is cos she's feeling a bit rubbish. SHe woke from her nap at 4.35pm and would ordinarily stay awake til ed at about 6.30ish. She's fallen asleep again.

My parents have just got off a plane at Bristol airport and have decided to drive up to see Megan before going home to Swansea. They are coming over two hours out of their way. I asked them to stay tonight but they won't cos my dad's playing golf in the morning. They'll get home really late tonight. I've said why are they bothering but my mum is worried about Megan
