Hi I'm off to a free session at gymboree today sounds a little twee but worth a look. Hope all your LOs are gorgeous.

LizzieO · 19/02/2008 13:25

Hey all

goodness i remember the days when there used to be 30 posts per day and you couldn't keep up

Anyhoo - all ok here today, altho' its a bit like snot city.

Saralou - Ollie also has horrendous snotty nose and cough, he is extremely snuffly all through the night unless in a very deep sleep, and then he is getting up twice for feeds, or at least waking up and snuffling so i tend to get him and suckle him and then he hopefully goes back down until around 5, when for the last three nights he has been crying for about 20mins before he goes back to sleep, poor little mite, no doubt him and DS will get better this week and then when DS is back at nursery next week we will all get some other mutation of the same bloody cold

SGK - Spain in May sounds like a good idea, how exciting, is it just you and DP and the kids ?

LMB - OMG not only a holiday but one with babysitters too lucky you

Don't thi8nk we will be holidaying this year as hoping to move, but........have registered for Glastonbury so have everything crossed for when tix go on sale

WOnder where RG is ????

ThisCharmingMum · 20/02/2008 14:50

Afternoon all,

Well I have finally caved in. Sara is going on formula and that is final. It's just getting too much of a stress and to be very frank - I just can't be bothered expressing/ worrying about how much rest I'm getting/my diet/etc etc anymore.

I'm still very proud of myself for managing over 3 months of nothing but breast milk. At least I can reassure myself I gave it my best shot.

Not feeling too guilty (well, a bit).

Where are you RG? It's not like you to stay away for so long. I hope everything is well with you and your family.

Lizzie - Glastonbury doesn't sound very mumsie at all. Good on you. It's nice to carry on with interests apart from our bundles of joy.

Fiona - how was the gymboree?

jetgirl - You must be over the moon about DD potty training. How old is she? You are putting me to shame. DS is 3 in May and I haven't mustered up the willpower to begin training him yet. Will buy him a potty in the next couple of weeks and get on with it.

LMB - I hope the teething is going well!

LizzieO · 20/02/2008 21:30

Hey everyone

blimey i can't cope with how quiet it is, this is the most i have been able to get on and no-one is about

well.....had a day at home with the boys today, a friend came over for lunch...which was nice

Last night Ollie actually broke his 2am routine and slept till 4.00 i couldn't beleive it when i woke, i'm wondering if its because i got a couple of ounces of formula dowm him at his 7.00pm feed, tried it agin tonight but he wasn't having it, he just doesn't seem to do the same thing twice, he is also going on both breast now at each feed which is making me worry that i have enough milk for him

ThisCharming Mum - how do you get on giving the formula to sara, does she take it no probs, and it did it take a while for her to get used to it ??

back to the brits
....see you xxxxx

ara · 20/02/2008 21:42

just a quick check in to wave hello at everyone! we are well, phoebe was ten weeks old on sunday and 13lbs 7 at her weigh in on monday -she's a little bruiser!

her little friend hamish (6 months) sent her a valentines card made out of felt with 2 cd's of steamy music, lol!! he must have rustled it up while his mummy wasn't looking !

RGPargy · 20/02/2008 23:06

Evening everyone!

Sorry i haven't been posting for a week - most unlike me!! Dont worry tho, i have been reading your posts every day but my life is so dull that i've honestly had nothing to post about lol.

Ellie is sleeping a bit better now, although she's still waking up for her 2am feed but thankfully she goes straight off again when i put her back in her cot. She must have just been getting used to being in her big bed, bless her.

Silk - Glad you are getting on so well at work and it's wonderful that you were missed isn't it!

Charming - Sounds like you've been well busy! Please say hello to LOM when you next see her We should arrange this Leeds boozathon very soon i reckon! I think if you are happier switching to FF then you should deffo not feel guilty about it. A happy mummy is a happy baby, as they say. You have done brilliantly for the last 3 months so give yourself a well deserved pat on the back.

Sarah - Valentines was nice thanx. Nice curry and some pink fizz - it went down a treat. Sorry Adam has had an itchy face - sounds a bit like Ellie's problem. She also scratches her face when she gets tetchy but we have some diprobase which seems to do the trick. Is his sleeping pattern any different yet?

Haven't been to a mummy music sesh yet, but they do have this "Bounce & Rhyme" thing going on at our local libraries. It only lasts for 30 minutes so it's not too daunting. I might check it out for something to do! Has Adam has his massage yet? Ellie absolutely LOVES them and it really settles her for the night because DP gives her a bath then brings her into me and i massage her, feed her and put her to bed. When we didn't massage her a couple of times coz our routine was out of sync she was a complete mare to settle! With a massage, however, she drops off more or less instantly. I thoroughly recommend it!

Lizzie - Hope Ollie feels better soon! I'm with you on the libido thing. Mine is zilch too but i have to oblige DP sometimes to keep him happy because i feel sorry for him lol!

Sparkly - how did the BF consultation thing go?

Fiona - Bet you're getting very excited about your trip to NZ on Friday!! I'm very !! Have a fab time tho and i hope you find the time to drop us a brief post now and then to let us know how you're getting on.

LMB - I wonder if we'll be on the same antenatal groups come Christmas lol. That's when DP and I will be trying for our number 2.

Jet - glad you enjoyed your run! I still haven't managed to do any exercise yet, except for walking to bloomin' Asda!! I'll get there eventually, i'm sure. It's great that DD has decided to use her potty. Perhaps now that the pressure is off she is happy to perform! Erk, dont remind me about jabs. Ellie is due to have her second lot next Friday and i'm NOT looking forward to it at all!!

Lizzie - Are you taking Ollie to Glasto with you? We were all registered last year but i decided not to go because i'd have been 5 months pg at the time and wouldn't have been able to drink, plus frequently on the loo and knowing what festival loos are like, i decided i would much rather sit on my own throne than risk a poo/wee-smeared one at Glasto!

Dont worry about Ollie now feeding from both boobs. Ellie always feeds from both - she starts off on one, has her fill with that one (i.e. drinks til she gets fed up) so then i burp her and stick her on the other one and she goes at that one with as much gusto as the first one, but just for a little less time. Perhaps he is on a growth spurt and just wants to feed for a little longer. I'm sure it's fine.

Ara - well done on DD's weight! LOL @ the valentine's card!

Oh - my only bit of exciting (for me) news is that seeing as my hair has got so long and i've not had it done since i was about 35 weeks pg, I'm going to have the braids done again. I phoned my lady up today but she didn't get back to me so i'll give her a call again tomorrow evening. I cannot wait because at least i wont have to faff around doing my hair every morning. You just literally get up, untie your hair and you're done for the day! Brilliant! Hope Ellie doesn't mind it tho!

I think i'm going to bed now, so good night everyone - see you tomorrow!

sarahloumadam · 21/02/2008 08:24

Morning all!

Welcome back RG! Adam's skin reacted to diprobase but now he is on oilatum cream and that is keeping his skin lovely and soft. He still has a good scratch at night so it must be itching him. Took him to baby massage yesterday and he seemed to enjoy it but got tired v.quickly and kicked off destroying the lovely chilled out vibe for everyone - thats my boy !! Glad Ellie has settled in her room, clever girl. Adam still waking x 2 think is combo of blocked up nose and itchy face [knackered emoticon]. Post a pic of your new hairdo if you get a chance.

Charmingmum - it sounds like your decision to switch to formula has been a big relief for you. Ridiculous pressure we put ourselves under. Let us know how it goes.

Lizzie - glad Ollie is sleeping for longer, an extra 2 hours transforms your life!!

Well best go and get ready for the music group - hope Adam plays ball!

Pixiefish · 21/02/2008 09:23

Ah, just found you. Off for a catch up now

littleoldme · 21/02/2008 14:55

Rg The braids sounds excellent. You'll have to put up a photo when you've had them done. How long will it take to put them in?

Sparkly - Enjoy your hols. Hope it's sunny for you.

Ara - LOL at the Valentines card.

Sara Glad to hear that Adam's skin is getting sorted.

Charming - Glad to hear you've come to a decision. I really think that what makes you both healthy and happy is the best thing whether it's FF BF or bloody big slices of cake. Talking of which...

Jet - What a yummy valentines day. We didn't celebrate c'os every day is valentines day in this house: apparently.

RGPargy · 21/02/2008 15:27

Sarah - glad you enjoyed the massage. They do tend to get tired/thirsty/hungry when being massaged so it's not uncommon for babies to kick off during a session.

LOM - It's amazing what even booking an appointment can do a girl's mood! I spoke to my lady and was like "YES!!!" when i put the phone down. Cant wait to get them done. I'll be going down there on 1st March but she's going to confirm the appointment tomorrow. It takes about 5 hours to put them in (ouch) plus 1.5 hours each way to get to her house. I know it's a trek but she's very cheap but very very good and i'm not sure i could trust anyone else to do such a great job of it. It'll be interesting to see what DP makes of them - he's only seem photos of me with them and i know he's petrified that he wont like them. I keen reassuring him that they look fine and loads of people have told me that they really suit me. If all else fails, they only last for about 6 weeks max anyway before you have to take them out so it's not a permanent thing.

Anyway, less of the waffling. Gonna wake Ellie up and go to the shops. She's been asleep all day so far, only waking for lunch at 1pm. Growth spurt perhaps?

Have a nic evening, all!

Hi all well I'm off to NZ tomorrow!! Can't wait but hate all the packing and getting organised as of course DD didn't want to sleep today so a bit tricky. Hope the flight will be ok .

I'll deffo be MNing in NZ I'll take over mums computer while she's cuddling DD.

LizzieO · 21/02/2008 20:34

Hi everyone

not much to report here, although we have had a couple of estate agents round to do valuations as we are hoping to move this year, which is quite exciting

fiona - have a fabulous time in NZ
RG - yeah welcome back, the braids sound cool ! and no not planning on taking Ollie or DS to Glastonbury - its grown up time - in a big way, i also registered last year and our friends got thru to get tickets but i decided like you that i wasn't really up for another pregnant glastonbury, went when i was preggers with DS1 and altho i still had a great time, there were also moments like when i was knackered and just wanted my own cosy bed instead of a muddy cold wet tent, and all my mates were trashed and i wasn't when i thought what am i doing here !, though i did get to see more bands and appreciate them more in my sober state, anyway babysitters lined up so really hoping we get tickets !
oh and baby no 2 yeah , are you going to stop at two do you think

have good nights everyone
Lxxxx

RGPargy · 22/02/2008 15:40

Hi everyone.

Fiona - have a wonderful trip!!!!

Lizzie - yeah that's what i thought Glasto would be like when you're pg so i'm glad i didn't go. I'd have hated to have gone and watched everyone around me getting trollied while i'm sipping on a coke!

As for stopping at 2, i'm not sure. We intend to but i spose it all depends on how i cope with having two young ones. So far DD has been very easy but the next one might be a complete mare! We'll see how it goes, i reckon.

OP posts:
Pixiefish · 23/02/2008 08:26

gosh we have gone quiet haven't we.

jetgirl · 23/02/2008 11:31

I have discovered the best workour DVD ever! It's my DD's Wiggles DVD - we both love singing and dancing together to the songs, and it leaves me exhausted!

fiona - have a great trip

rg - my sis used to have braids, she loved them too. DH also had them when we first met, he's v different now with a much more sober 'do!

sparkly - spain sounds lovely, esp. in May when it shouldn't be too hot.

charming - how are you feeling now? Less tired I hope, and you've done brilliantly to feed Sara for 3 months. And it means DH will have to do more night-feeds !

DD is getting more confident with the potty, partly because she will do anything in return for a sticker, but hey it's working so who cares!
I went out for lunch with some friends on Thursday, William had a great time being surrounded by women, he's such a flirt It was great to catch up, though I found out that another friend has just lost a baby, she found out at the 12 week scan

Have a good weekend all xx

LittleMissBliss · 23/02/2008 22:05

RG- I'm looking forward to having another lo but don't really want to be pregnant (even though i did miss my bump post partum) or give birth, what ever happened to the storks?!

I'd really like a little girl, i keep sneaking a peek at baby girl outfits whenever i'm shopping. But would be equally as happy with another boy (and i have a lovely growing collection of boys clothes that i'm saving just incase!). Do you ever wonder if you'll have enough love? I know it sounds silly but i love ds sooo much.... just can't imagine loving anyone else as much!

I know you have an older ds but I think thats a different love, as you don't constantly shower older kids with love and 24/7 attention like with a baby iyswim..... i sound a little crazy... i know

Charming- teething is getting better less grizzling and more frantic fist chomping. Cobys has had an early night this evening, he went down at about 6.30 (normally 9.30) half woke up had a feed and is now in a deep sleep again. Hopefully its a good sign and the blighters are working their way up! (currently just two dots)

Only problem is that this early night has thrown me, and he's not in his comfy pjs...darn it!

We've got our 4 month h/v check Wednesday of next week, where has the time gone? sparkly can you tell me what to expect?

Well i'm going to try and gently ease off ds outfit with-out waking him, i'm sure it's possible .

Pixiefish · 24/02/2008 08:15

I'd love another but have been so ill this time that I daren't risk it again.

The house isn't big enough either and dh and I are too old

LittleMissBliss · 24/02/2008 10:07

Fiona- hope you have a lovely time in NZ.

RGPargy · 24/02/2008 16:43

Hi everyone!

We spent our first night away from home last night at the PILs. We took Ellie's little moses basket and i dont know how, but she slept ok in it. She does look massive in there now tho and can touch both ends of it length ways now with her head and feet! It was really nice not having to worry about driving home late at night and it was nice to have a couple of vinos too.

Jet - yeah i'm really looking forward to getting them back. Wow @ your DH having them! Did he have corn row braids or the long type ones like i'm having (think there's a pic of me with braids on my profile...?).

LMB - i know what you mean about being pg and giving birth again, especially as 9 months seems to be a really long time to be pg doesn't it! lol! I think when it comes to having enough love, you always do have enough and you just spread it amongst your kids. You are right about it being a different love for my DS - at the moment i'm giving him tough love as he is in our bad books yet again. I wont go into it here, but there's a post in the teenage section if anyone's interested in what life might be like in years to come. Not that i want to scare you or anything!

Glad teething is getting better - it's a tough time. Ellie's constantly got her fingers/fists in her mouth and dribbling a little, but she doesn't have red cheeks and isn't irritable so i dont think she's teething just yet.

Pixie - i'm sure you're not too old - i'll be 41 when i have my next one (all being well).

Fiona - Hope you had a safe journey over to NZ!!

OP posts:
Pixiefish · 24/02/2008 18:58

Swyn is teething as well - the chewing of hands and the dribbling- little dot.

I have too many health problems to go for another RG- as much as I really would love one I have to think of the 2 I have and their quality of life if I'm ill again or worse

RGPargy · 24/02/2008 19:18

That's fair enough Pixie. Best to enjoy life the way things now eh?

OP posts:
RGPargy · 25/02/2008 09:56

OMG!!! Ellie slept through the night!!!

She went down at just gone 9pm (quite late for her) and I woke up at just gone 5am and realised that she'd not woken up at all!!! I think she only woke up then because i went in to check on her "just in case".

I wonder if she'll do it again tonight?!! Wishful thinking, i reckon lol.

OP posts:
sarahloumadam · 25/02/2008 12:53

Ahh RG!! Adam is regressing and woke up 3 times last night! But it is only because he has a snuffly nose which is stopping him from feeding properly poor thing. At least I don't have to worry about his weight too much because he is a little bruiser!

Also a bit jealous of all of you planning your next LO already, think we will leave it a couple of years. The DH adores Adam but is not keen on having another because of finances. I would have another one tomorrow! Bliss, I worry that the second LO would be completely different from Adam e.g. a PITA!

Adam had his second lot of jabs today and (touch wood) he doesn't seem as traumatised as last time. Last time after a sleep he woke up and wailed and wailed until we managed to get some calpol down him. It was a really sad cry too. Today he shouted at the nurse when she jabbed him but has been his usual sunny (snotty) self ever since.

Well I am off now to call Persimmon for the 12 billionth time re problems with the plumbing - they don't build 'em like they used to!

LK2boyzma · 25/02/2008 14:33

Hi ALL (waves hesitantly from the corner wondreing if anyone remembers her -emotion)

Its been such a while, computers went down in our house thanx to adventurous DH, but he has managed to rescusitate one and we are back on.

Hoe you are all well, am sure I have missed a lot of news, but I hope to keep up from now

Tyler is fighting dry skin/eczema type of thing and I have tried most of the crreams that have been prescribed but they seem to worsen the condition. He is gaining weight quite well and has been sleeping through the night on a good few occasions, if he has to wake up, its to feed and go straight back I am a happy mum in that department.

I hope you all have a good day

Loopy: If I remember correctly you had one DC with eczema, what seems to be working for you?

LittleMissBliss · 25/02/2008 16:46

RG SO JEALOUS......
