I'd love more, but it's just not possible financially. And yes, LMB, I did wonder if I could love another just as much as my DD, but as soon as he was born I fell in love with with William just as much [soppy emoticon]

RG - hooray for Ellie sleeping through! DH had long braids at uni. He misses his long hair!

We've just finished preparing the invitations for William's baptism in April. I can't wait - I'll need a new outfit obviously, and it will be a great family do. Dad's doing the servise so it should be really special.

RGPargy · 25/02/2008 20:08

Sarah/LMB - I wouldn't get too jealous. I'm convinced it was a fluke because she was up til 9ish on Saturday night and again last night so was probably just uber knackered.

Sarah - bless little Ads and his jabs. I'm sujpposed to be taking Ellie to have her second lot on Friday but i'll have to move the appointment because of my hair - a woman's needs sometimes have to come first!

LK - Helloooooo!! Welcome back!! Nice to have you with us again. I would simply DIE without a computer of some sort for a day, let alone as long as you've been without one!

Jet - Hope you find a lovely outfit for William's baptism. What a great reason to go shopping!

Morning all and welcome back LK!

Well Adam's jabs went ok but he was a bit miserable again yesterday evening. He settled after having some calpol. He pulled some very strange faces whilst having that but managed not to spit it out. He suddenly seems to have found his voice and coos all day long now making him even cuter than usual.

A new outfit for your special day sounds lovely Jet. We are not having Adam christened but I would like to have some kind of celebration, not sure what yet.

RG - hope you had another looong sleep?!

Had some lovely news the other day, my mum and dad (who live in Shetland) are coming down to see us in April but mum has decided that she can't wait that long to see Adam again so they are coming in March as well! Can't wait , I really miss my mum and dad since having Adam even though they have lived up there for 15 years!

Speak later x

RGPargy · 26/02/2008 08:16

Morning!

Sarah - it's lovely when they coo alot isn't it? Ellie's been doing this for a while, it's great isn't it.

I know what you mean about missing your parents. My dad has seen Ellie twice since she was born and he only lives 45 minutes away but my mum hasn't seen her at all yet because she lives in Spain and neither of us can afford to visit each other! My mum cant seem to get it into her head that if we come to her, we have to pay for my passport renewal, Ellie's first passport, flights, villa/room hire (we wont stay with her because she and her boyfriend are heavy smokers), spending and of course we have to make sure we have the week's money saved that DP will have lost because he is self employed. As she is retired, it'd only cost her the price of a flight and spending because she can stay with one of her sisters! Ah well, she'll have to make do with photos and videos i spose. Thank GOD for DP's parents - they absolutely dote on Ellie and it's wonderful.

Ellie had another great sleep last night. She slept from about 7.30pm til 3.50am, so it was just over 8 hours again! Then she had a quick feed and was back out like a light again until 7am. Hopefully as she gets a bit older, she'll drop the 3/4am feed altogether.

Anyway, less ranting/rambling by me - have a lovely day all!

LOL Adam is a bit slow but he has got the hang of it now! My mum said it is because I don't let him get a word in edgeways. What a shame about your mum RG, all those lovely snuggly cuddles she is missing out on! My in-laws only live down the road but it is their 5th grandchild and I get the impression the novelty has worn off! Have a good day, I'm off to give my smelly lo a bath x

Hi Loopy! Nice to hear from you. I have similar probs with my DH but only the 1 LO so hats off to you.

LK - re eczema Adam is similar and he reacted to Diprobase, tis a pain isn't it and you just want it to be better like NOW! And I was really careful never to use any products because DH is allergic to everything. We use oilatum cream now, hope you find something that works soon. Everyone seems to rave about Aveeno on here.

RGPargy · 26/02/2008 18:15

Sarah - that's a shame about your inlaws. Every grandchild should be treated as special and not a novelty!

I've been using Diprobase and Ellie hasn't reacted to it so that's a relief. I'm also trying out some aqueous cream too to see if it's any better.

Loopy - well hello stranger!!! About time you showed up!! Glad you are all happy, shame about being tired tho. I'm sure she'll snap into the programme soon enough.

I use nothing in the bath for Ellie either, just plain water but dont moisturise her all over after, unless i'm giving her a massage and then she just gets sunflower oil with vitamin E.

HI everyone. I'm in NZ now and its so hot and I'm loving being with my family and having lots of people to fuss over Anabel. She handled the flight really well and is sleeping through the night again and back into her normal 'routine' after only 3 days. We were much more jaded with jet lag. I'm off to baby time at the library with my sister and her DS (7 months) today so looking forward to that. I can't wait to move back here permanantly.
Hope everyone is well good to here from Loopy and LK we missed you guys. I'll check in every now and then to see what you guys are up to but for now I will put on my sunnies and carry on relaxing.

RGPargy · 26/02/2008 21:12

Oh loopy, you poor thing!!! 3-4 times a night??? No wonder DD got screamed at. I'm not sure how you have kept your sanity all this time. Hope she improves soon, it must be so draining on you.

Fiona - Glad you had a good trip and brilliant news that Anabel is sleeping through again. Enjoy your stay!!

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 26/02/2008 21:30

hiya loopy. good to see you again.

Callum had his second lot of jabs today, he is not happy now
He was sleeping better but has gone back to 2am,4am and 6am feeds
We have dropped the formula!!!!!!!! Callum still likes a bottle just before bed but has expressed BM instead... The bf consultant i saw last week was amazing! she couldn't believe that we were basically bullied into topping up with formula and said that I should have been referred to her months ago, she looked at his growth graph and said that before we started the formula he was doing fine, yes he had dropped through the chart but he had started to follow the bottom line. She said the diabetites would have made a difference too. She checked my latch and it was fine on the right and wrong on the left. I am actually getting milk back in my left breast now. Am going to see her again tomorrow to find out how to get Callum completely off the bottle

jetgirl · 26/02/2008 23:04

fiona - I'm v. ! Sounds like you're having a lovely time.

Sparkly - that's brilliant news, glad you're getting some proper support too.

Hello again Loopy and LK!

My MIL was stroking William's hair and asked what shampoo we use, when I said we don't use any products on him she was amazed, it just goes to show how unnecessary so many of the baby toiletries are, our LOs are perfect as it is, aren't they?!

Off to Brighton tomorrow for a few days, and have just been researching family friendly places to eat, there seem to be loads which is good. I haven't seen my sister for a couple of months either, so it will be good to catch up with her too.

LizzieO · 27/02/2008 14:44

Hi all

hope your all well, all cool in the LizzieO household other than me feeling tired, very at babies sleeping through, Ollie is now 15 weeks but i am still giving him a feed when i go to bed at 11 and he is still waking at 3ish for feed and then 6ish, i shouldn't grumble really i guess that is good compared to some other babies, he will sleep through in his own sweet time. Maybe if he was in his own room he would sleep through as i wouldn't hear his snuffling and worry that he would be waking DH and DS, perhaps if left he may go back to sleep

Welcome back Loopy and others who have been away for a while, even now as i am typing DS is driving me made with his chattering, bless him, sometimes just getting on computer for 10mins is tricky,

BTW how many hours per days are your LO having naps, Ollie still has around 31/2 to 4 hrs

have good afternoons everyone

xxx

LittleMissBliss · 27/02/2008 17:12

Sparkly so glad that this time you got some propper help and advice, makes all the difference! Poor Callum with 2nd jabs the men c stings as it goes in nasty, poor babies. Coby screached like a banchie when he had his 2nd lot. But soon forgot and slept pretty much the whole of the following day!

LizzieO and loopy- i'm still on at least two night feeds but because i'm co-sleeping its not too bad. I don't think ds will sleep through till he starts to weaned at 6 months. Such is life!

We went to underones group yesterday and were shown baby massage. Coby loved it! To be honest he's so chilled out I could be covering him in mud and jelly and i'm sure he'd love it! I'm going to try and do it at least every other evening.

Today myself and a mum from down the road went on a two hour walk as it was a lovely day, besides the fact i need some exercise. We've decided we'll do it at least twice a week. (I walk to my groups and to the post office etc. on a daily basis but they're only 10-20 mins away) Now Coby is crashed out it his chair and i'm aching on the sofa.

Coby isn't much of a bottle fan unless he's starving. So i'm going to try and get a doidy cup thing now he's 4 months, does anyone know where i can get one?

hope your all having a lovely day x

LittleMissBliss · 27/02/2008 17:14
  • well nearly 4 months a week or so away!
SparklyGothKat · 27/02/2008 17:23

DIdn't make it BF clinic today, was busy with my sister delivering invites to people for the surprise anniversary party for our parents. It took ages!

Did anyone feel the earthquake? I was breastfeeding Callum when I heard a thump and then my bed and Callum's crib started shaking, and my necklace on my mirror was banging against the mirror. I thought my neighbours were shagging very hard!! I even tutted at the wall at them!! It was only because I was listening to the radio while BF that I realised what had happened.

Callum seems happy enough without the formula, this is the third day without it. I am struggling to express enough off but figure that he will start feeding from me jjust before bed if he doesn't get enough (thats the plan anyway) I think my pump is playing up. But I have started taking Domeperdine (sp?) to help with my supply.

hi Loopy! and everyone else.

Bliss, I do a lot of walking too - shame it's done nothing for the jelly belly! Mind you that could be the chocolate consumption...

I use plain water in the bath with her too - she is allergic to the sunflower oil we were given for baby massage, by the way. The teacher said very very few babies are - shame she is!

Re feeding, DD goes 12 hours overnight without eating and in bed which sounds great BUT she still wakes up every 45 mins at night and cries unless I hold her hand.Any suggestions??? I can hold her hand (she'sin a co-sleeper next to me) but would like her to learn some independence eventually, and also the every 45 min thing is killing me!

Cant remember what everyone else said but hope all is well!

RGPargy · 28/02/2008 09:01

Morning everyone!

Sparkly - well done on dropping the formula! lol @ the earth moving for your neighbours!!

Jet - i agree they are all perfect just as they are! Enjoy Brighton.

Lizzie - i feel your pain!! Cant wait for Ellie to start self weaning when she's old enough - hopefully it'll sustain her through the night, although i'm not gonna get my hopes up too much..... As for naps during the day - Ellie was in the routine of having a nap in the morning more or less straight after her "breakfast" feed for about 2 or 3 hours and then that would be it until the afternoon, when she would grab about half an hour. Lately tho she's not had her morning nap either, although saying that she's currently ZZZing on the sofa as we speak lol.

LMB - massage is great isn't it?! I give Ellie a massage after every bath (the spoilt little mare!) and she loves it too. I think it just kinda chills her out in preparation for her final feed and bed. I really think it helps her to get off to sleep because when i dont give her a massage, she can be fussing for up to an hour before she finally gives in and goes to sleep! Well done on all that walking! It's a mission for me to build up the energy to walk 15 minutes to Asda!!

Choc - What are you using on DD instead of the sunflower oil? Ellie's little bottle is almost empty and i'm thinking of using olive oil. Poor you re the hand holding lol. Perhaps you could buy a big cheap doll with plastic hands and then chop them off from the doll, smooth the edges etc and then do a sneaky hand swap when she's asleep? A silly suggestion, i know, but it's amazing at what daft ideas actually sometimes WORK!!

So much for Ellie sleeping through the night!! For the past two nights she's gone back to waking between 2 & 3am and then again between 5 and 6am. i'm thinking that perhaps she is waking up cold and then of course realising she is hungry so i might look into getting a grobag and see how she gets on because when i go into her room, she's completely out of her covers and halfway up the cot! i'm getting knackered again now!

I've had a really busy week socially. Monday i did lunch with the Wednesday mums i meet up with, Tuesday MIL came round, Wednesday was the hall meet with the Wednesday mums and tomorrow i'm getting re-braided (yaaaaaaay!!!) so today is the only day i'll have to catch up on boring housework - boo hiss!!

I still haven't got the cheque for my car yet. I wish they'd hurry up because i need to find a new car - PRONTO!! We've only got a maximum of £1,000 to spend on a new car so we wont be able to get anything too decent, but at least it'll be safe and drivable (i hope!). I'm starting to feel a bit panicky about letting my car go now. I've had him for EIGHT YEARS!!! He's sat outside the house looking all forgotten and neglected and i'm starting to feel reluctant to let him go. He's mechanically very sound but i am getting nervous about his age (he's 10/11 years old now) and about the fact that he's starting to have little bits and pieces fall apart on him. In 2006 the cambelt broke which meant he needed major repairs which cost £600 but at the time it was cheaper than buying a new car. Now of course he's had the two prangs to the front so i'm very superstitious about not driving him for the third prang ("bad luck comes in threes" and all that). Oh well, i suppose we all have to move on. 'Ark at me - you'd never think I was talking about a bloomin' car!!

Have a nice day everyone!

Hello all
nice that the board is so chatty, i must say me and DH are LOL at RG suggestion for Choc's 'hand-gate' dilemma - seriously i feel your pain as i do Loopy's abd Bliss', how long are you going to co sleep for choc, i must admit i would be tempted to maybe put the LO in her own cot and tough it out for a couple of nights, if she is sleeping 12 hours then maybe she could learn to sleep on her own ??

Ollie is absolutley gogeous and just seems to have got suddenly big, i have got him in DS 6month clothes, however......the last couple of days i have felt abso-bloody lutley kancckered, not just the normal tiredness but that really bone crushing tiredness where the slightest thing can make you snap,
i need to get a grip and take myself to a more positive place, after having an early night last night....h aha ha ha....and doing the usual feed at 10 and then 2, LO decided to start his day at 5, all shouty and gurgley, now thats fine if you are a little baby with not much to do all day but sleep, gurgle and drink milk, but if you are a crabby old mum its rubbish. DH actually took him downstairs after a while, and i could still hear him LOL, even tho' i was crabby and tired i still managed to find his chattering quite cute, anyway i couldn't sleep so i just went downstairs and got him fed him again, and he went down at about 6.30ish, DS was up at 7.15

hence today as he has reached 17 weeks i introduced some baby rice, he seemed to like it as he was grabbing spoon into his mouth, anyway if this helps at all it could be the way forward for the next couple of months instead of trying to get him to take a bedtime bottle of formula,

also i think we are going to put him in his own room at the weekend.....gulp

sorry to be so obsessed with sleep but well....you know

anyhow i'm toodling off now
have good nights peeps
xxx

RGPargy · 28/02/2008 21:40

Loopy - yeah i thought olive oil would be ok. Shame she'll smell like a an oven ready chicken tho, especially just after her bath! I must say that i haven't heard of peppermint creams for YEARS!!! They are rather lush aren't they - especially if they're made properly and dont end up a big blob of green goo on a plate.

Lizzie - Glad my hand-gate got a laugh Sorry you are also feeling knackered and crabby. it sucks doesn't it!!

Weaning - I'm a bit confused/undecided as to what method of weaning to try. I've heard good things about BLW but also wonder if Ellie will be more satisfied with proper food at four months. Aren't the guidelines to give them just milk until six months or is that milk as well as other stuff too? I really have no idea.

Lizzie - Ellie is in her own room and has been for a good while now. I was reluctant to put her into her cot but her basket was getting waaaay too small for her and she couldn't stretch out. Now she knows that when she goes into her cot, it's bed time and she settles very quickly. 9 times out of 10 she'll go off with no problems whatsoever.

Time to eat a Crunchie and play some COD4. Have a nice evening all!

sarahloumadam · 29/02/2008 08:32

Hi just signing in so I don't lose the thread! Nice to read all your chat, the board is a bit more lively again!

Went to "music with mummy" again yesterday. Adam just looks quite bewildered by it all bless him but I enjoy it! At one point they played "children" by Robert Miles and we had to bang our instruments to it and I thought - I used to go clubbing and dance to this in the OLD days. Made me smile.

Adam seems to have knocked the evening cluster feeding on the head and has started to fall asleep v.soundly around 8 o'clock and we have managed to put him in his cot instead of just having him on our laps all night. Has been lovely to have some adult time - not that we do anything adult just veg and watch TV! Ikwym LizzieO re tiredness tho, Adam has a couple of feeds a night and is up at the crack of dawn cooing and chirping and banging on the sides of his cot like a little thug! He gets more gorgeous by the day and I get more knackered and hag-like.

Chocolate - have you tried a teddy or comfort blanket. It's really sweet that she wants to hold your hand - unless you are the one being woken up every 45 mins! A cute story to tell her when she is older tho. Check out the embarrassing photo that I have got to blackmail Adam with when he is older (on my profile).

Friday so it must be braid-day RG! Enjoy.

ChocolateHobnob · 29/02/2008 09:42

Sarah, I love the bathtime pic!

Even when I hold her hand, she wakes up every 45 mins - it's just that she goes back to sleep faster. I can't face putting her in her cot yet as I'll be in and out of her room like a yoyo - she wakes every 45 mins even when she's in her bed before we go to bed too. Woe. I love the doll idea though - PMSL!!!

RG, enjoy the braids!

Ah, she is making noise now, so off I go! have a good day!
