Just a quick check in and hello.

It's been a v busy week so haven't had time to check in properly.

Sarah - sorry you and your DP are having tough time. Sleep depravation and big changes certainly can take their toll. DH and i had an argument this week and we rarely fall out - I was anniyed c'os he'd put Thomas's grobag on back to front.

I'm sure it won't last but T has slept through every night this week but one. I've realised I'm not bonkers, i was just tired.

Off to Whitby for the day tomorrow. very excitied.XX

Jet - well done on the outing.

RG - happy car shopping

fiona76 · 09/02/2008 11:41

Did anyone see that woman off the apprentise on the telly this morning on bbc news breakfast programme? She was saying how woman need to work harder than men if they were to expect equal rights and pay to make up for all the time they have off having babies and care for their kids. Outrageous!! That woman is awful!! It pisses me off how parents particularly mums aren't valued. If they were there might not be so many social problems. Everyone is so stressed trying to make enough money to live and take care of their kids and work properly. Then Katie off the telly with her 6 figure salary comes on and says wman need to work even harder than they are already. [RAGE]

sarahloumadam · 10/02/2008 15:14

Fiona - I saw her, what a wally!

Silk - sorry your first day didn't go to plan but glad Megan was ok and how lovely for the DH to get a big gummy smile when he went to pick her up! V.annoying of your colleagues not to keep you informed though.

RG - hope you get your car sorted. Me and the DH have kissed and made up although lunch was a bit stressful because Adam decided he wanted some food too and he wanted it NOW!!! We have decided to go with a childminder but we have the option of his work nursery if the childminder doesn't work out.

Jetgirl - re your night out, good for you tho.

I love Whitby LOM, hope you have a nice time.

V.v.quiet on here!

RGPargy · 10/02/2008 21:47

Fiona - i saw her too. She really pissed me off, the silly cow!

Sarah - glad you sorted out your childcare with DH.

Nothing to report here really. Still looking for a car but nothing's coming up in my price range. I've still got the car at the moment but need to hear from the insurance company coz i want to know how long it takes for them to pay out to me. I need to psych myself up for how long i'll be carless and using public transport and/or my legs!

Foodwise, i've had a fairly decent week just by cutting out the muffins and eating fruit instead of crap if i'm in a snacky mood. I dont think my delicious puddings are helping too much tho and i deffo dont think that all the wine i've had this weekend will help with my weigh-in tomorrow morning. I was hoping that at least a little exercise would help!! Oh well, I'm onto the exercise DVDs from tomorrow with any luck and i think i'll cut the booze right down too (booooo!!).

HOpe you've all had good weekends.

PS - Anyone heard from Loopy? I know Jarm has been busy with work etc but she is well so that's good.

OP posts:
Pixiefish · 11/02/2008 08:29

RG- don't let them have your car until you have the cheque!!!!!!

My car was written off before Christmas, they paid p almost straght away and then didn't collect the car for about 4 weeks

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 11/02/2008 09:28

OMG!!!! Callum is sleeping through!!! He slept saturday night from 11-6 and last night he slept from 9-7!!! I am in but I have to say that my breasts are not thanking him!! Might be able to actually move him into his own room soon... yah!!

ChocolateHobnob · 11/02/2008 10:23

Go Callum!

Well done RG on your food! I've been eating all sorts and have been most bad...

Sarah, glad you sorted the nursery.

Fiona, any further on deciding which country to go for?

I've had a crap week sleepwise. DD has decided she only sleeps if I hold her hand. This is not good. It means I am twisted into the oddest position getting my hand into hers in her cosleeper and cant really move, and I am a very restless sleeper too. So eventually I have to move, and she inevitably wakes up. I am reconciled to it now - it has been every half an hour for the last week, but last night it was every hour which was much better so I almost feel human. Oh but just so you dont think I'm Moaning Myrtle, she took a bottle the other night!!! a basic Avent one like she used to, so all the faffing about with closer to nature bottles that didnt work was pointless in the end.

Oh and my hair has been highlighted pretty blonde for YEARS, and on Sat I had it dyed brown again! Mainly cos am sick of the roots. I like it - I look so different! it will take a while to adjust...

Hugs to all!

RGPargy · 11/02/2008 12:40

Hi everyone.

Pixie - i'm STILL waiting for someone to call me back from when i called them on Thursday!!! Why dont people have the courtesy to call me back?!!!

Sparkly - Well done Callum!! Very as DD has decided to start waking four hourly again during the night and then taking about an hour to settle again. I'm so exhausted

Choc - how exciting having a hair change! I love making radical changes to my hair now and then. It makes me feel really refreshed and rejouvenated hehe.

Well, i weighed myself this morning and i've GAINED two f*ckin pounds!!!! I'm soooooo pissed off that this morning i've gone out and bought muffins and have eaten two of them already. I dont think it helps that i've been feeling a bit down over the weekend and now i'm wondering if I should bother even trying to bloody diet if i gain two pounds when i've abstained from everything nice!!

Anyway, enough of my doom and gloom! Hope you're all having nice days.

OP posts:
LittleMissBliss · 11/02/2008 19:01

Rg- sorry about the two pounds, it may have just been water retention?
I've been eating rubbish all weekend but i've been for a walk everyday, so its ok . I went for an extra long walk today to town (45 minutes eachway!)with another mum who lives round the corner and bought some swimming shorts and a new outfit for ds! I found my car on autotrader Its updated on Thursday mornings.

Sparkly- I Can't wait for Coby to sleep through we've managed to cut feeds down to about 2 a night whoop!

Choc- we want to see your new hair, post a pic!!

fiona76 · 11/02/2008 19:28

Hi all!!
We had our antenatal reunion today it was so cool to catch up with all the mummies and babies. 7 out of 9 came so a good turn out. Me and an another girl walked down to the hospital and back about 40 mins each way so felt very pleased with ourselves.

All the babies were gorgeous and all the mums were happy. I am going to Legs, bums and mums tomorrow which is exercising with buggy in the park. I'm really looking forward to it. I was sick all last week so didn't do any exercise and sat at home eating hot cross buns .

On wednesday I'm going to the movies its a little screamers session were you take your babies and they turn down the sound and up the lights a bit and have changing tables in the theatre. They are showing Juno which looks quite funny so I'm really looking forward to it.

So ladies what are you all doing for valentines day?? I was thinking of making a yummy meal (thinking of my stomach again . Then partake in a ravishing on the dining room table . Any ideas for a romantic menu? I'll have a flick through my numerous cook books but any tried and tested recipes would be well received.

We leave for NZ next friday ona months holiday. I'm sooooo excited. DH has agreed that we will move there permanatly. Not sure exactly when but hopefully in about a years time. I'm really relived and pleased about it.

We had a lovely day yesterday went for a drink at the pub by the river and then had a late lunch at the italian. There were loads of kids in the restuarant and we were made to feel very welcome (waiter said table for 3? as we walked in). I fed DD and then she slept in her pram and we had 3 courses and shared a bottle of wine. It was lovely. Hope everyone has had days of beautiful sunshine like we have had. Hope it lasts.

Well that was quite a ramble hope you are all well. BTW DD has slept through the night for 2 weeks now. What a treasure!

silkcushion · 11/02/2008 23:22

Hello all have done a quick skim read through. Very of all these sleeping babies. Dd was doing it perfectly and still does on the odd night (friday) but since she's been in her own room she's taken to waking at about 4.30am. This has coincided with me going back to work - so is a nightmare!

My parents are staying at the moment. Mum said she'd do the nighttime thing last night but I still woke up anyway. 2.30,4.30 and 6am. Then she was fast asleep when she was due her 7am feed.

Must go to bed now as I'm shattered and have a long day ahead tomorrow. Working and seeing the padiatrican in the late afternoon for a follow up to the hospital stay.

Hope yr all well x

jetgirl · 12/02/2008 21:45

Quiet here...
These babies must be becoming more demanding!

silk - hope it went well with the paediatrician today.

fiona76 - great news about your move to NZ, enjoy your holiday too.

sparkly - of Callum sleeping so well, but also for you!

DH is away till Thursday on a training course, but I have the inlaws coming for a couple of days to help. He found out today that he has got the promotion he was interviewed for on Friday, which is fantastic and I'm so proud as he was knocked back for one last year.

RGPargy · 13/02/2008 17:40

Evening everyone.

LMB - I have no idea if it was water retention, milk retention or fat retention! The next day i'd put on another pound by 5am and then at 9.30am i'd lost two pounds so i really haven't a clue what's going on. I can only imagine that this is why my GP said not to diet whilst BF lol. All i know is that i'm really peed off at the moment. Think it's hormones tho as I came on a couple of days ago quite heavily so who knows! Well done on the walking!

Fiona - glad you enjoyed your antenatal reunion. How was the cinema? So glad DH has agreed to live in NZ. I'm sure he wont regret it and if i had the choice, NZ would win hands down!

Silk - sorry that Megan has decided to wake really early. What a PITA! How's work going? Are you enjoying it? How's Megan's skin now?

Jet - Congrats to DH for his promotion!

We're not up to much for valentine's day. We're just going to get a curry and a bottle of cheap fizz i think. Money is extremely tight!! Last year i surprised DP by booking a hotel room in Bournemouth where we first met the previous year. I also secretly booked the following day off with his boss so we didn't have to worry about getting up early for work or anything. I also booked us a table at a local curry house and took a couple of bottles of fizz too. DP was really surprised and loved it. Finance doesn't let us do that this time around tho. Nevermind. I dont mind really because i have all i want here at home.

Well, Ellie is still not sleeping very well. She's now in her own room in her big cot and has been for a week now, so this has probably thrown her a bit. I've put a rolled up towel either side of her under the sheet so the cot doesn't feel quite so massive and i think it's helped a bit. The trouble she's having now is that she'll wake up at 1 or 2am, have a feed, and then spend a good 20 minutes or so trying to go back off to sleep, whilst continuously dropping her dummy. I have to sit there of course until she falls asleep so i can stick the dummy back in. Then i'll get to bed and ten minutes later, dummy falls out and cue mummy sitting in her room on dummy watch for another 20 minutes or so. It's exhausting me!! Last night i had about 1 hour's sleep between 2am and 5am because she just kept waking up!! I'm starting to wish she'd suck her thumb so that she (me) will sleep properly and not keep waking up! I think i must have had about 4 hours sleep in total last night! Ugh!

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 13/02/2008 19:28

HI all, we finally went to see the Dietitian today who thinks that Callum is grazing rather than feeding. She thinks he is only gaining weight now because he feeds so often, plus the formula. We are being referred to the breastfeeding consultant ASAP.

silkcushion · 14/02/2008 22:05

Hello all

RG - sorry you're having sleeping probs - it's a nightmare isn't it? lol at you being a soppy tart

Megan's skin is still flaring up about every other day. Paediatrician has prescribed a formula called Nutramigen. It is sort of cow's milk based but hypoallergenic. She wants to try it for 6 weeks and see us again. We also saw the dietician who said we need to wean her on to a non cow's milk diet when ready. All her blood tests are quite good though - she doesn't show allergies. Dr is puzzled though cos she looks like she is allergic.

Work - really pleased to be back. My foggy brain has started working properly again. I had become a bit thick (started when I was pg) but feel back to normal again. Pleased to have got a good reception from my colleagues - and it seems like my staff have missed me. Which is a relief - didn't want them to think "Oh no it's Silk again". Have worked form home and looked after dd for the last 2 days - impossible - every time I am in the middle of an important phone call she bursts into tears or poos or starts cooing and giggling which makes it difficult to concentrate. A few people have heard her and think she sounds very cute though.

ThisCharmingMum · 15/02/2008 09:15

Morning lovely ladies,

Sorry for not checking in for a few days. It's been a bit hectic and when I've had any time to rest, I've not had the energy to log in - feeling more energetic today though.

Well, energetic might be a bit strong, but you know what I mean.

Had a busy time - met up with LOM on friday, had a henna booking at the weekend, went to mum's on monday, had my birthday on tuesday, met up with ante-natal friends on wednesday and yesterday caught up with a load of errands. It's nice to have today with absolutley nothing planned

DH and I don't really do valentines day. If I get a card I appreciate it, but I don't get upset if I don't get one IYKWIM. As it's my bday 2 days before, it seems a bit early to be celebrating twice in 2 days!

RG - Ellie sounds like she's just adjusting to the new room. Am sure it will gradually get better. I've decided I'm goign to put Sara in her own room at 6 months ish.

I gave her formula for the first time last night. Her weight gain is steady but following a completely different 'line' in her red book. This could just mean she hhas adjusted to the size she was meant to be and is growing at a healthy steady rate. I am going to give her one bottle of formula a day for the next 2 weeks and express the milk she would have breastfed.

If this makes her gain weight faster, I will continue without the expressing. If it has no effect on her weight gain, I'll stop the formula and expressing and just go back to fully breastfeeding her.

Sparkly - let us know what they say about Calum's grazing. Great to hear he's sleeping so well by the way!

Silk - good luck with your investigations regarding allergies. It does seem like a bit of a mystery. Have you investigated the possibility of her reacting against your washing powder? My mum used to have to use a special powder when we were little because normal powder used to make my brother's skin flare up.

You sound like you're getting back inot the swing of things at work.

Choc - am very of your new look. My hair has grown very long because I haven't had it cut for about 8 months. I'm looking forward to having it all chopped off and getting a new look. Then I shall flick my hair like in the adverts and how all the men shall swoon

Off for a shower.

sarahloumadam · 15/02/2008 10:50

Hi all
Should probably be grabbing 40 winks now as Adam has dropped off in his bouncy chair but I always feel so crap when I sleep during the day.

Poor Adam has been v.fed-up with himself on an evening for about a week now, from 5 onwards he just gets more and more frantic, crying and scratching at his face. The only time he is calm is when he is feeding. He has had some very dry skin on his face and just got some new cream yesterday which seems to have worked overnight so hope we have sorted the problem. Lovely and smiley during the day tho! He has been waking up more during the night too so I am knackered at the mo. He is doing things back to front as he should be more settled after 12 weeks not less!! Oh well, he came out back to front and looks like he is going to continue to be different.

RG - your valentine's plan sounded good, did it work out? I went to Waitrose and got a load of stuff which I could just fling in the oven but it wasn't that relaxing (see above!). Sure little Ellie will settle soon bless her, hope you can catch up on naps during the day.

Charming - sounds like you have had a busy but fun week. I have been a bit lazy organising things recently and I need to get my arse into gear and get out and about more. I always enjoy it when I make the effort.

Silk - glad your work going ok and glad to know that the braincells do start working again, had resigned myself to being dense (or more dense than usual) for the rest of my days!

Fiona - but re NZ! I have been watching Wanted Down Under on BBC 1 and NZ just looks fabulous.

Anyone been to music with mummy groups? I am booked to go to "Jolly Babies" from next week. Sounds a bit twee but I need to do something and Adam loves being sung to (ha - probably just laughing at my awful singing, plus I only know the first line of most songs!) Should be interesting. Plus we have first baby massage session next week. Can't wait. Tried to give Adam a bit of a massage last night to calm him down and he just looked at me as if to say wtf!!!

Have a good day x

LizzieO · 15/02/2008 21:20

~Hey everyone it been bimmin ages since i've been on, had just had a quick flick through currnent page, think i have also lost ability to tyoe as having to re-type every other word ['bit thick' emoticon]

anyhoo.. we have all been very snotty and sneezy for what seems like ages, as soon as one of us gets over it we all come down with ot again, ollie has still been waking once at night for feed and then again anytime between 5 and 6.30ish, but last night he wok at 2.00, 3.30 and then 6.00 so feeling really knackered today and drooling over though of just one blessed gorgeous uniterreputed night sleep...ahhhhhhhhhhh...anyway back in the real world

Hope you all had a romantic-ish night last night, DH reminded me last night that it was around this time last year that young Ollie came about (so to speak). TBH tho' i just have zero libido at the mo' think its the whole breastfeeding thing, as well as the tiredness and the not feeling very sexy cos i'm carrying the extra weight....thing

half term next week so have tried to arrange as many playdates as poss for DS

love to you all and your little uns xxxxx

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 16/02/2008 20:31

HI all. we are seeing the BF consultant on wed. wonder what crap I will be told this time?

Callum's passport came yesterday, so he can now come on holiday with us in May

fiona76 · 17/02/2008 15:48

Hi everyone its quiet on here this week!
I was pretty busy this week. The movie was brilliant I'll deffo be going again soon. Valentines day was good DH forgot to get me anything so I made him go buy stuff for dinner and we had a lovely meal and strawberries dipped in choc for afters- yum!

Anabel is really lovely at the moment and sleeping well and full of smiles and fun when she is up. We can take her anywhere and she is beautifully behaved so a utter joy. We are off to NZ for a month on Friday so I'm starting to think about packing and getting a bit nervous about the long flight. It will be worth it to ee all my family and friends. My nephew is 7 months old now and I can't wait to meet him.

LittleMissBliss · 17/02/2008 18:20

Hi all I've been very tired this week. Coby has been up allot at night with teething pains. And all the broken sleep is breaking me!

Glad everyone had a lovely valentines day. Ours was ok nothing special just a takeaway and quiet night in.

Already planning baby no.2 (prob start trying around Christmas) but not much practicing as i'm just soo bloody tired! I'm not sure how i'm going to cope when I have two babies!

We've booked a holiday for September were going to Malaga and MIL and her bestfriend are also coming along to babysit! SGK how long did it take for Callums passport to comethrough? And how do you manage to take a passport photo without you or your hands in it?

Right i deserve a cuppa me thinks!

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 18/02/2008 00:08

LMB. It took about 2 weeks to get the passport through, photos were done at a photo shop (klick) who laid him on a white changing mat and then took the pics with a digital camera. Costs about £6. but they make sure the pics are just right, lighten them and then printed out the correct size.

sarahloumadam · 18/02/2008 11:26

LittleMissBliss - Ikwym re broken sleep, Adam has started waking x 2 in the night for feeds and every morning around 5pm seems to get very snotty and starts snorting and coughing like an old man! Poor love. Added to that I can't seem to get back to sleep after his second feed and lie thinking about stupid things - friends I haven't seen for years that kind of thing! Malaga sounds good and babysitters even better!

SGK - bet Callum's passport photo is v.cute!

Fiona - Adam is gorgeous too when he has a good nights sleep but a grumpy baggage otherwise - just like his mum . Sure Anabel will be fine (on NZ flight), at least she is not toddling and wanting to be off doing her own thing! Good luck!

We are having a quiet day today as waiting for the Ideal man to come and look at the boiler AGAIN!! New house is lovely but lot of snags. Good job I am on maternity leave.

Adam's skin has made a miracle recovery and he is a much happier boy. He is still very scratchy though so I hardly ever dare to take his scratch mitts off which I don't like. His Grandma (my MIL) is upset because he cries when he sees her (!) but she will insist on sticking her face right in his pram. And she always seems to catch him when he is getting revved up for a feed or tired. I am going to have to pop down to her house one day to prove that he is a sweetheart really.

Right - I am off to buy a piano!
x

jetgirl · 18/02/2008 20:27

Evenin' all

Well, I actually went for a run yesterday with my mum, which was good, it's the first run I've done since race for life in 2006, so I'm surprised that I don't ache today. The weather was perfect for it, and we're definitely going to do it again.

DH and I had a very romantice valentine's day meal of beans on toast! We decided to have chinese on Friday evening instead, and did valentines +1! DD and I made him Nigella's custard creams from her Feast recipe book, they were so easy and delicious, and i made the filling pink in keeping with the occasion.

DD has suddenly decided she quite likes the idea of using her potty (we stopped for over a week as it was stressing us all out). The other morning she woke up, announced she had a poo in her bottom and wanted to sit on the potty! She has repeated this a few times so we're really pleased.

William can't seem to make up his mind whther he likes sleeping at night, some nights he's great and others he's not. I think he's having a growth spurt and experiencing teething pains too, but on the whole he's still a happy chappy. He was not impressed at having his jabs last Weds, and really cried. The 2 girls who went before him didn't make a sound - just goes to show how wimpy boys can be!

Sparkly - where are you going on holiday? We have a few days in brighton next week, but are going without a summer break, we're getting the bathroom done instead! Hope it goes well on Weds.

sarah - enjoy your piano!

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 18/02/2008 22:26

WE are off to Menorca, booked in last year, so got it very cheap.

Callum is really grumpy the last few days, chews his hands all the time, dribbling and he has a tiny tooth coming up. BUT he is now cooing and 'chats' to us, which is lovely. He laughs too, proper hearty laughs which is great fun and makes me laughs.
