I agree - it's all too much in one go. Ds1 had everything when he was supposed to but DD had MMR around 2 and Lo is only just about to have his first ones but that's more to do with allergies, DD'S asthma started after her 2 month injection. I told helath visitor I would wait for a bit and she seemed to think it was fine. It is not essential to have them at the prescibed times if that doesn't work for your child.

Such an emotive topic. I know several people who don't vaccinate AT ALL but I think that's a bit odd. That is the thing, everyone makes their decision and by proxy that makes it seem as if they think some else is wrong for doing something different. It's hard to talk about really.

Roll on teenage problems, like cervical vaccination. Oh god.

eandh · 07/01/2008 11:58

2happy - how weird I had a letter from royal mail this morning (I started an enquiry after 15 days as thats when they'll investigate) even though i sent it recorded delivery 'It appears that it may have been lost during the sorting/delivery process and with the increase in post through the christmas period it is unfortunate that we very occasionally incidents like this occur' or something along those lines. They have refunded me £27 (I said buggy board was worth £20 plus the postage) I am glad I sent it reocrded or wouldnt have received anything. Would you like a dontaion towards a buggy board from their money (my work paid postage so no cost to me)

I dont think the drs have booked the right jabs need to call them about the booster

Cant remember who else posted and I am at work so better do some work and post later

Next birthday tomorrow!

Happy 1st Birthday Freddie

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 07/01/2008 13:56

Have a great holiday 2happy. Very as I really want to go to Center Parks!

Can I ask why you think it is too much at this age LTH and Carrot? Just wondering if there is a reason to postpone them (not trying to be argumentative, just wondering if it is instinct or if you have read something)

Pink- A friend of mine had the injecitons seperately and she just asked at her doctors. Think she had it done by the nurse in our practice but paid for it. Not sure how much though.

I feel so sick. Remind me when I am contemplating having a 4th to just forget it! So much harder this time with Luke up all day. When I was preg with Ruth he was sleeping until 8-9 then having a 2hour nap. Now he is waking at 7 and no nap! I thought it was supposed to be easier when your children were older!

ladytophamhatt · 07/01/2008 14:39

I don't know really Dhart, just looking in his red book and to date he's had 16 differnt things injected into him.
Ok so it was in 4 separate jabs but 16??

And he would have only been 4 months old when the last of the 16 were jabbed in if I'd taken him at the right times.

4 months??

Ohhhh, noooo far too much for such a little person IMO .

I prefer to let them have a bit of natural immunity to stuff that comes with age rather than pump them full of it at such a teeny age....

ladytophamhatt · 07/01/2008 14:40

nothing I've read BTW, just all my own descisons.

MrsCarrot · 07/01/2008 14:45

yes, my HV said they couldn't bear how much they had at such a tiny age and were trying to get it changed. Allergy wise, its a lot for the system to take when the bowel walls are so tiny and new and perforous (sp?). We had lots of allergy in the family so I thought I'd leave it though it's been longer than I meant to. I don't know if I made the right decision but it was instinctive. The Informed Parent is meant to be good but I haven't read that one.

bunnyhunny · 07/01/2008 15:05

I agree with mrs c and lth - just seems a bad idea to me to give 3 active viruses (including a rather nasty one imo) at such a young age, especially since saul hasnt yet even grown out of his eczema / food allergies. I have looked at a local clinic (£300 in total!!), but to have it done at my local practise would be much better, even if I still have to pay.

4 days into sauls dairy trial and his eczema is bad behind his legs, on his knees and on his chin. looks like he is still allergic, but i will give him a break, but retry him in a week or so.

ladytophamhatt · 07/01/2008 15:46

Your Hv's sound FAB mrsc, I have to admit redaing that your HVs are saying the same as me makes me feel awfully smug

ladytophamhatt · 07/01/2008 15:48

Bunny, AFAIK local clinics etc can't won't do single jabs beause they are part of the NHS.

Singles are done privately, although saying that I assume it can be done hrough the hospital through special medical treatment...

MrsCarrot · 07/01/2008 15:53

perhaps that's your calling, LTH

Obviously vaccination in general is a good thing, children used to die frequently from those horrible illnesses, diptheria/polio etc. It's just that vaccinating them when they are so tiny with so many different things is less about when it's good for babies and more about vaccination uptake and convenience and financial incentives. It can't work for every child IMO.

eandh · 07/01/2008 16:45

Kat - I got a slow cooker recipe boopk for Xmas What food do you like and I'll have a look. At the mo, I only make soups in mine so need some insipration too.

Dragon were you sick with Ruth or Luke. I say it's a girl .
How you feeling Vino?

Enjoy your wii EaH. I bet your DH will love it! Need a new phone but think DH is getting me one for my birthday.

Wilkie · 07/01/2008 18:54

EAH - positively bargainous! Nice one!!

Jacob has spoken - he has chosen Hattie to be his 'beeatch' for the next few months and see how it works out. I warn her though - he has become obsessive about his willy and pulls it CONSTANTLY. Last night he was in the nursery naked after his bath and he literally was bent double trying to pull it into his mouth. Eeeeeww! Best plan of action is to ignore methinks.

Mr Wilkie cooking me a chicken sandwich cos I STILL have diahorrea and can't face food. Haven't eaten all day so am hoping this chicken sandwich is bland enough. God love him, he does look after me

So anyone else PG then???

Wilkie · 07/01/2008 18:55

RGee - my mum does a fantastic slow cooker chilli. I can ask her for the recipe if you like xx

eandh · 07/01/2008 19:25

awww J loves Hattie even if shes spotty (grr at Ellie, Hattie went to bed at 6.30 and settled really well and then Ellie went up at 6.50 to do teeth and toilet and stubbed her toe started crying and woke H up )

dh had his tea so he is up there trying to soothe her whilst I eat mine.

wilkie - cant beleive your still not 100%
rgee - how was your 1st day back?
dragon - I can remember that feeling and actually wishing ellie still napped

right sausages are ready so I am off to scoff

OP posts:
vinorouge · 07/01/2008 20:28

Rgee - I am feeling fine. Went through a couple of weeks of feeling sick but not actually being sick (same as last time) as well as being knackered but at the moment am feeling pretty bright. The bump is growing much faster than last time though! Got midwife appt tomorrow so hoping she will be able to hear heartbeat. Last time she couldn't so I had to rush to lgi but it did mean I got an unexpected scan.

Well my first day of working from home has gone smoothly. Did my 7.5 hours with a 40 minute lunch (brisk walk to the library to photocopy something before eating sarnies I had made this morning when I made dh's lunch).

Ellen had a lovely day with my mum. Chatted with mum when she brought her back and asked if mum will be happy looking after 2 little vinos when I go back to work next time. She is!!! hooray!!! It will still only be for one day so not a great burden.

E&H what a great bargain. Mayeb the carphone warehouse got all the wiis that people wanted to buy before xmas

Hi again all

we've all had horrible chest infections here. Isobel also has another 2 teeth coming through on the top row, so she's not been at all happy.

I cannot believe that a year has past already, and SO fast... its really freaked me out tbh... my tiny weeny baby is now getting tall, trying to walk and talks non stop, and is going to be 1!

I'm sure you all have had exactly the same thoughts and feelings as me. COngratualtions to those of you PG again. I'd love to be, Not a good idea yet with my bck though, we are giving it a bit longer to be a bit better... perhaps later this year though. Well, def later this year actually

Hope you are all ok, and Happy 1st birthday Freddie

vinorouge · 07/01/2008 21:08

Susie I am gonna be talking to midwife about my back tomorrow as can start to feel it going again, having probs bending.....

E&H - going to have a surprise again! 20 wk scan is 4 Feb when I will be 30. My BF is arranging a surprise for me to celebrate my 30th on 2nd. I am intruiged....she offered to tell me but I opted for the surprise option.

vinorouge · 07/01/2008 21:08

so i mean surprise as in we are not finding out sex of baby and I am looking forward to surprise for my birthday

logginh off now as dfon;t seem to have chatted to dh much tonight - oops

susiecutiemincepies · 07/01/2008 21:17

Oh, I'm sorry you have back pain its bloody miserable. Make sure you are relgious about moving and lifting properly now, before it gets any worse. Also, see if you can get a support corset from the obstetric physios. It did help me in the first few weeks when mine got bad again in pregnancy.

Hope it feels better though. Oh, and I thought you meant surprise with the sex of baby! I think i"d have a surprise this time actually.. though pratically it would be easier to know, so I can keep hold of all the clothes we've saved, or If its time to get rid... still, i'll not be worrying about it for quite sometime yet.
