Oh no, vino/eah you poor things. Hope you get a restful day today.

I don't think they will do the MMR when they're ill, they usually wait as the immune system needs to be strong. F hasn't had his first ones yet but he will do soon.

Back to school tomorrow. I've enoyed the lazy mornings and no packed lunches, I think their term is starting later than most though.

Wilkie · 06/01/2008 12:48

Talking of MMR - I'm still a bit concerned about it. I will give it to J but am a but scared because of the autism links. What are people's views on this? (I think we did this a while ago but can't find which number thread it was on as there have been so many!!!!!!!!!!)

EAH - poor Hattie

2Happy - don't beat yourself up about it. I have done the same on occasion. Although Medised doesn't do a lot for J. Calpol has brought out a night version which is similar to Medised

Dragonhart · 06/01/2008 13:06

I read up a bit when I was deciding for Luke and I could find very few proven links to autism and lots saying there was none. IMO imunisations are very important, you only have to talk to your grandparents, great grandparent to find out the difference in the life expectancy of our children and children only afew generations ago. We just dont know how lucky our children are sometimes. How many childhood illnesses are there that our children are exposed to that might kill them or give them a permanant disability?

Having said that, it is an emotive issue, and everyone has their own views and opinions. Best thing to do is to google it.

eandh · 06/01/2008 13:24

We took the decision that Ellie was going to have the MMR I then made a conscious decision not to read any articles/releases etc about any studies. Taken the same idea with hattie she'll have it done (if she is well enough)

bunnyhunny · 06/01/2008 14:04

I started a thread on this myself. I am really worried about it, although there seems only to be antecdotal evidence. But apparently there is a link in a small number of susceptible kids.
it;s very hard isn't it? I am considering paying for a measles single shot, doing rubella later, and skipping mumps. dunno tho...

We are on day 3 of the dairy trial, and all appears ok!! I am not holding my breath, but if he has grown out of the allergy then that would be so fab!

((hattie)) and ((eah)) and ((vino)) for the lack of sleep.

laughalot · 06/01/2008 16:13

We were very worried when Aidan was due to have it but we did go ahead and we shall with Lauren x

Nemoandthefishes · 06/01/2008 16:14

hi all
ds and dd1 both had mmr and chloe is having hers on thursday..we did same as others on here and just researched and felt mmr in the crandscheme was safer than if they caught any of the diseases.

Nemoandthefishes · 06/01/2008 16:18

meant to sayt here are a couple of pics of chloe on my profile if anyone is interested..

eandh..H has really grown up a lot on your pics although bless her spottiness

eandh · 06/01/2008 18:49

I am exhausted family party went well although they didnt take the hint to go so ended up bathing the girls and bringing them down for bedtime drinks and then most people went. Just tidied up and washed floors. She loves her tent/tunnel thing one of a few smiles we have had from her today, her spots are up her nose, in her ears, in her mouth and on her eyelids and bottom eyelashes, I phoned NHS direct as was worried about them being so close to her eyes.

She went to sleep before everyone arrived and look very shockd when she woke and came down to lots of people, spent best part of the afternoon with just a nappy on to get some air to the spots. Thankfully shes settled really well tonight and is asleep in her cot (at the moment )

FIL gave the girls and our neice/nephew (dh sister kids) there £10 pocket money today (they all get £10 a month)and then he gave Harvey (brotehrs stepson) £10 to treat himself, I know sometimes I moan about IL's but I thought that was very sweet and Harvey was chuffed as they were all walking around waving their £10 notes

Hi folks.

Sorry about your bad nights Vino & EaH. ope tonight is better.

2H have a fab time away

Will do MMR. Have had a letter about the 12 month booster thingy (must book an appointment for that tomorrow) but not MMR yet.

Carrot - back to work tomorrow too. I will also miss the leisurely mornings.

Love the wig pic Nemo.

Wilkie - I won't be doing a half birthday for P because I am too lazy busy to organise two birthday dos for her a year (we'd still prob be doing something on NYE for her)

Lizz - lo is not walking or standing on own yet either. But I am enjoying her saying 'miouwwwwwww' each time a cat walks into the room.

vinorouge · 06/01/2008 19:14

2happy - there are some lovely MILs I know, one example being my own granny who my dad openly says he was far closer to than his own mum (who is the only grandparent still alive - typical!) and my bf's mum who is just sooo nice to everyone. I realise they are the exception but I think it depends what kind of person you are. Obv all is jan 07ers are lovely people so anyone with a ds will be an unannoying MIL! Enjoy centerparcs! It sounds lovely.

e&h - I really felt for hattie when I looked at the pic of her spotty back. I went back up to bed at 7 this morning, gave E her bottle and we all dozed til 9.30 so I haven't been too tired.

We went for a nice walk (in the woods at temple newsam rgee!) then did sainsburys, all had a late lunch then I took E over to my mums where she has stuffed her face again apparently.

MMR - E is def gonna have it. We had a talk from health visitors at postnatal group about it ages ago and they were saying that the original study that linked it to autism was only very small, that those who paid privately for single jabs had sometimes had probs with them not being ok (something to do with the vaccine being imported) and basicaly saying how important it is to be vaccinated. Not gonna go on about it but my dad had measles when I was 6, he caught it off me and was really poorly (in fact my 7th birthday party had to be cancelled beacause of it and I WAS NOT HAPPY).

eandh · 06/01/2008 19:22

wilkie doesnt have to worry about being evil MIL - J is marrying Hattie therefore Hattie will have a lovley MIL

OP posts:
laughalot · 06/01/2008 20:01

I think you will find j is spoken for

Wilkie · 06/01/2008 20:07

Heh heh - Hattie and Lauren can fight it out with Pippa and Ellen. J has a whole plethora of female admirers (just like his father )

I hope I will be a nice MIL. What if he marries some pikey slut that I really don't like though? Then what??

Am just trying to work out who would win in a fight between Pip, Ellen, Hattie and Lauren. Pip not walking may be a slight disadvantage, but she can throw food well, and you should see her on her ride on fire engine

laughalot · 06/01/2008 22:12

Lauren can pull hair

eandh · 07/01/2008 06:13

Hattie can pinch (and if I havent cut her nails it hurts)

OP posts:
Nemoandthefishes · 07/01/2008 10:24

ooo can I throw chloe into the pot with her biting????? She is a little monkey for it at the minute and seems to have a LOT of teeth.

bunnyhunny · 07/01/2008 10:27

I will chuck S in as the diplomat - he will hug and kiss everyone!

katwith3kittens · 07/01/2008 10:29

MMR ... single jabs .....its horrible thinking about them. I will be opting for them though as I did with the other two. IMO they protect against life threatening illnesses and thats enough for me.

A friend didnt immunise her DD as she is quite alternative in an affluent kind of way . She ended up catching whooping cough and lost control of her bladder. Had to do pelvic floor exercises at the age of 6 . She is 10 now and ok.

How many of you are doing them now .. betcha all are !

12 month check and mmr booked for next week.

DD back at school now but DS not back till tomorrow, things feel funny already. I love the lazy relaxed mornings and was shocked to find it was dark at 8 o clock ths morning. DD has her enterance exam to senior school next weekend. God I feel old !

Eah at least she'll be over it soon x

Off on hol!! May not be grinning by tonight when ds1 refuses to sleep...however, it's a holiday.
Happy birthday to Shimmer, Jodie and Wilkie's boys (and my dh on the 11th too!).
Back fri, probably be too shattered to post - will no doubt rant an entire essay which you can all skip over read carefully later.
Have fun, all

ps, eandh it occured to me that the buggy board never did arrive . Pisses me off, gives the royal mail it's bad name, but our postie is fab and works really hard. Can I refund you the postage?

ladytophamhatt · 07/01/2008 10:50

DS4 will have the triple jab but not for avery long time yet.

IMO they have enough(too many almost) jabs at this age so I space them out, Ds2 had it a 3 yrs and ds3 had it a few months ago at 4. I won't wait that long again but it deffo won't be while he's one. Also Ithink at his age IF there is a link and teh mmr does cause it its harder to tell bacause any regression is comapred to such a small amount of ability IYSWIM. Waiting until they can talk, walk, rrun, whatever would show any regression much easier IMO anyway.

He gto his call up fo rthe HIB booster the other day...but its on his birthday so he won't be having that.

katwith3kittens · 07/01/2008 11:15

Sorry didnt make that really clear... my two have had the triple jab (MMR)previously and DS2 will be having the same, actually just checked and its his hib/Men c that's planned next week.

Its too many, and there's more now than there was 10 years ago. Dont think DD will be having this cervical cancer vaccine thats being offered to pre-teens unless she demands she has it, which is highly unlikely !

LTH - totally agree ...you cant take him for an injection on his birthday!

Happy holiday 2H.

Right, off to look for some slow cooker receipies as I got one for Christmas (how exciting I hear you all shouting)and I dont really know what to do with it !
