Quick hello from vino. Started new job on Weds, did attempt to post twice on tues night but lost it all both times so got fed up and went to bed. Work has been ok but tired from learning iykwim

Ellen is getting christened on her b'day next sunday and my (last minute) planning of that is turnng into a nightmare. Wish it was over already. I missed her soo much for the 3 days I was away

LAL - thinking of you

Wilki e- hope youa re over the worst of the bug

E&H - am sure those that make efort to come to the parties will have a great time and make those that didn;t wish that they had

rgee- greetings !!!! promise to catch up soon. We are hoping to move by end of month as things seem to have sorted themselves out so busy packing at mo but once moved you will have to come over. Glad P had a good b'day. I have always awanted to go to robin hoods bay cos I want to walk to boggle hole

To everyone else - hi!!! hope you are ok

Try to post more over the weekend xx

laughalot · 04/01/2008 21:55

Happy birthday to h, z, c and r xxxx

RGee · 04/01/2008 22:33

The 5th is a popular birthday (and was P's due date!!). Have a great day tomorrow to Chloe, Hattie, Ruth and Zac, and a lovely weekend to those of you having parties.

Hi Vino! Sounds like you need a weekend to recover. Glad all is going well, and can't wait to see your new gaff. to hear the christening is becoming a mare. Hope you are managing to find time to put your feet up and relax

UD you doing anything for Z's birthday?

Lal - lots more ((hugs)) heading your way, and thinking of your dad.

Bunny know what you mean about going back to work. I've been off almost 3 weeks and go back on Monday. Sigh.

Wilkie - all the best people are born on 12 Jan (ahem) and I would have loved it if my folks suggested a 1/2 birthday later in the year. Having said that, don't think I'm going to do it for P . When I was younger, I used to get joint Xmas / birthday presents or else all the tat that was left at the end of the sales.

2H pmsl about puke chunks. Thought you were going to say they were sprouts.

RGee · 04/01/2008 22:33

Forgot to say, two new pics up.......

Nemoandthefishes · 04/01/2008 22:40

Hello all
quickly popping on to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to hattie, Zac and ruth from Chloe and all of us.
Hope you all have a lovely birthday..not a lot planned here as we had a birthday party when dd1 was 2 a couple of weeks ago so are taking a break and next year will be chloe who has a party and dd1 will have a small birthday tea..lol

bunnyhunny · 05/01/2008 01:15

happy birthday Chloe, Hattie, Ruth and Zac
Its a popular birthday!

2happy · 05/01/2008 08:12

Happy Birthday Chloe, Hattie Ruth and Zach, hope you and your famlies all have lovely days.

ps RGee cute!! Love the backpack one!

Wilkie · 05/01/2008 08:17

Happy Birthday all you LOs!! Hope you have lovely days.

I am debating whether or not to ask PILs to have J for the day - would love a day to myself but equally want to spend it with J. Dilemma!

Bug seems to be leaving (finally). Bleurgh, have had more than my fair share I think!

RGee - why won't you do 1/2 birthday for P? Have defo decided to do that next year for J. 12th July will be perfect for a birthday party too!

Vino - why the christening turning into a nightmare?

eandh · 05/01/2008 10:09

eandh flies onto thread in the middle of sandwich making

Hattie has got around 30-40 spots overnight apart from waking cause her dummy fell out she slept all night from 6.30 to 6.10, she has loads and loads around her bits I think the nappy makes them worse so after party she is having some naked time!

Opened a few presents and she fell asleep but she loves her huge no 1 balloon we got her and its trapsing around with her.

Some more people have text to say they have changed her mind and not coming today, I have given up caring still got few coming and she doesnt know/understand

Not had time to post for ages with kids being off school and all festivities ets etc! My laptop is a bit dodgy as well and I need to mend it (again)

I've had a mammoth read through all the posts I've missed (doesn't seem that long since I was last on!). What a lot has gone on!

I'm panicking about lo's birthday as I need to make the cake myself (non-dairy) and must have a practice first! Then it's dd1's b-day 3 days after so I've her party and presents etc to organise as well! Trying to make it all low-key and dh even suggested not doing anything at all for her but that's a bit mean......

Right must go and get dressed before I get caught looking like this

eandh · 05/01/2008 10:27

willkie - i think you are entitled to a day off after being so ill.

eah - love the cake. sorry to hear about the party, but never mind - she is too young to understand anyway. Have a great day anyway.

canmummy - I am in the same boat with a non-dairy cake. Thinking of asking someone to bake it for me - if I cook one, it won't be a treat to eat! Do you have a recipe I can pinch for non-dairy cake?

I had an idea of meeting friends up in the soft play place for sauls birthday. Do you think I should pay for everyone to get in, or would it be ok to ask them to pay themselves? It's just for a play-time, not a party. I guess people are more likely to come if it's paid for, but we are really skint at the mo.

Wilkie · 05/01/2008 17:43

Well I didn't ask the PILs to have him and have had the most lovely day. He has been an angel and has been saying definite words 'Ta' and 'This' (to everything). He is also copying the sounds I make which is really cool.

Bunny - I wouldn't expect you to pay for me so I would imagine a lot of your friends will understand and feel the same.

Am geeting J a photo cake (sponge with his picture on in icing) from Asda - £9 anc they will do it while you wait.

Dragonhart · 05/01/2008 19:16

Rgee- Glad you had a good time and P had a good bday. Forgive me if I am wrong but do you shop in Long Tall Sally? If you do I got some BARGAINS in their sale. Might be worth a look.

Belated Happy Birthday to G Love2dance!

Ratbunny- Asda do chips that are just Potatoes and sunflower oil and Ruth loves them. Much easier than making potato wedges! I also buy so much frozen veg now. So much easier than preparing fresh and not much more expensive when you consider the waste of fresh. Id say you will meet them there. Then you can all pay for your own los.

Laughalot- Thats awful after all that worrying then to get no answers. Hope it goes quickly to wed for you all. xxx

Urban- Every job I have had I have hated for the first few weeks when I started. Then you settle in. Happened to DH when he changed jobs but now he loves it. Hope it goes like that for DH. Happy Birthday to Zac!

EAH- Happy Birthday to Hattie! Hope she is ok with CP.

Nemo- Happy birthday Chloe!

We had a mini party for Ruth with Dsis and her dd, my mum and brother and his new girlfriend (who is lovely and Ruth didnt cry when she first saw her so she must be nice! ). I made the now traditional Nigela Choc cake but in my food processer so it was even easier. Made 2/3 of the icing she says and it was much nicer. Think she is a trougher!

It was a lovely day and she fell asleep after all her presents and her piece of choc cake. Very cute.

Hope all the other los had good days.

Oh and thank you thank you to my secret santa. Very kind and lovely smellies. xxx

Lizzzombie · 05/01/2008 19:23

Birthday wishes to all our little one year olds!
Hope you are coping with the excess of toys which I assume are now gathered in your living rooms! (or is that just me?)

Only a quick post as want to watch "one and only" (saddo alert!)
eah - big hugs to little hattie, chicken pox is no fun at all.

lots of love to everyone else.
Can't believe we have been chatting on here for well over a year now!
DJ is still not walking, or standing alone. And his eating is diabolical compared to his little friends who stuff anything in. Think I may have a fussy eater...with a very sweet tooth...my own fault!

Hope all is well. Have a good saturday night xxx

eandh · 05/01/2008 21:10

I know there is nothing more boring than other peoples photos but..

pictures from xmas and hatties birthday plus a picture of hatties very very spotty back and bum!!

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 05/01/2008 21:34

lovely pictures, EAH, I couldn't help notcing the time on the camera though, you had the birthday lunch table set up by 8.21 am, you are truly wondrously organised

Canmummy/bunnyhunny - Dairy free cakes would just use dairy free marg wouldn't they, like the Pure one or similar from a health food shop? Or do you mean egg free too. I think there are things you can do with linseed for an egge free cake but I'm not sure.

F can walk a bit but mostly crawls for speed. I think there are a lot walking in this group, I know lots of babies who dont walk until well after a year in case anyone is thinking they are behind in comparison.

I cannot get warm this evening, the heating is on and I'm wearing dh's fleece but I'm still cold.

eandh · 05/01/2008 21:45

I was buttering sandwiches from 7am!!

We had to go out at 9am to pick cake up, then drop dh to bike shop (his pushbike was in for service and new bearings) then quick dash to tesco for some soft drinks for adults so had to be organised this morning!!!

vinorouge · 05/01/2008 22:20

e&H - hope it went well, cake looked lovely. Poor Hattie, hope she feels better soon. Is Ellie being a sympathetic big sister??

Wilkie - glad you had a good day with J. Ellen's first word is hiya which she keeps saying but only other noises are sounds rather than words. She is well away with her little troley now pushing it up and down and has started to stand on her own for a few seconds, started walking if we just hold one hand so it prob won;t be long til she is off and away.....and needing shoes!

DH - its me who chatted with you about trouser length. Maybe I should have a trip to LTS to see if there are any bargains

Lizz - we have excesses of toys. Some birthday ones are def gonna be put away

Rgee - have had chance to put feet up a bit today cos after E had woken for bottle at 7.45 we all went back to sleep til 9 so I felt rested. Then spent afternoon happily at a friends who I haven;t seen for ages so that was me vegging on her sofa and catching up. I like the pic of Pip in he rbaackpack too - the coat thing she is wearing looks cute! IS she heavy to carry now? DH said E was realy quite heavy afetr he had carried her for 2 hours in Filey last week. Think we will be borrowing the 3 wheeler buggy mum has for some walks in the future.

Am calmer about E's christening tonight. I was het up about it cos I had got back last night for DH to say his mum had been on the phone asking what was happening cos she knew nothing. I know I told her the basics (which was all anyone else knew) back whenever it was I decided to have her christened). Because MIL annoys me anyway I was even more annoyed about this even though it prob seems petty and I was worrying about everyone and everything. Dhs brother is coming home from Jersey for w/e and I feel bad now that most of his w/e is taken up with E's birthday/christening so wondered if MIL was upset about that as there will be no chance for an IL family dinner etc etc. Anyway I felt happier today cos I asked my little bro to do a reading in the service and he was really excited to be asked.

This week will be nice cos I will be settling into new job working at home. I will be strict with myself though so no MN until my lunch break or after work!

We have packed some more stuff tonight so are getting there.

I seem to be going on and on so gonna stop now.

vinorouge · 05/01/2008 22:29

oh and those making dairy free cakes hoep they are yummy

vinorouge · 06/01/2008 06:49

I can't sleep. Poo. Prob didn't get to sleep til midnight and then was awake at 4. Double poo. DH and Ellen fast asleep.

eandh · 06/01/2008 06:57

Morning Vin, I am here too had 3 hours of broken sleep as Hattie up at least every 45minutes, dh sleeping downstairs and ellie still asleep. Hattie has loads and loads of pox on her face now. She is having nappy free time at the mo as her bit are smothered and think that is what was bothering her last night.

I am soooooooooooooo tired

OP posts:
2happy · 06/01/2008 07:27

Sorry you both had such bad nights - hope you both manage to get some rest today. I slept from 9-5.30 which is the best in AGES, but shamfeully that's only because I medised-ed both boys last night . I've never mediseded ds2 and was only the 2nd time for ds1, but neither was ill I was just desperate for sleep. I feel so crap. It's precisely why I've never bought medised before because I knew this would happen and I would end up giving it every damn night, but we're going away tomorrow (4 days in centre parcs - first hol in years woohoo!!) and you know what ds1 is like with his sleep, so bought a bottle to drug my son to sleep so we could have a holidy I suck.

Vino - I think it is a mil's sole role in life to be as unthinkingly irritating as possible (which depresses me, since I currently have the potential to be a mil twice).

eandh · 06/01/2008 10:34

2happy I have used medised for tat reason before, sometimes Ellie needs to sleep but seems unable to actually go to sleep and then you get into a vicous circle of overtired/moany/whiney toddler. Hope you have a great few days away.

Hattie has some huge huge blisters on her bits so just off to google if tehre is anything I should be looking for.

I have her MMR and PCEB (or whatever it is) booked for 22nd Jan so will call Drs and ask if it gives her enough time to recover from chicken pox or whetehr to delay it for a few weeks.
