We have a conservatory that used to be the playroom but swapped it all around and its now dining room, we have a huge radiator in there (£350 to fit) BUT it is probably the cosiest room in the house in the winter as the plumber knew what he is doing.

In the summer we have blinds for all the windows and door and we have heat reflective stuff ont he roof so it is actually quite bearable (its 14ft x 14ft and cost £9500 4 years ago included plastering/flooring/blinds etc)

Right posting from work and its 5pm so going home time will catch up later

susiecutiemincepies · 14/01/2008 17:48

LIzz, I was also VILE on the pill. hated my self, and everyone else! DH also begged me to stop taking it or change. I opted for the mini pill. Has been great really. Not teary, not narky, not vile, and AF really quite light.

I was on the pill last year when DD magically entered my body!!! still dont know how... ( well obvioulsly I DO, but you know what I mean! had never missed a pill, had taken it properly. GP said i was one of the statistics, I made up the 2 % failure rate... a happy statistic though!! )

I'd say, go back before your packet finishes, get them to prescribe another bran, or the mini pill, and then you run the packet straight into the next one. Sometimes just a case of trying a few to see which suits you best.

2happy · 14/01/2008 18:09

I think it's a good idea to try different pills until you find one that suits. I found microgynon made me a fat, miserable cow (no change then ,eh?!), mercilon was ok but gave me cramps in my feet, and am on cerazette (a mini-pill) which seems ok - no AF at all so far, even though I keep forgetting to take it . When we decide no more kids I'm having a mirena. Only thing I'd say is, my GP told me you need to wait 3-6 months to get used to a pill before you decide whether or not it suits and if the side effects are going to settle; depends on how bad hte side effects are whether you would really want to wait that long.

Happy birthday Lauren and William (it's in the post, I blame dh...mostly. It was wrapped and ready ages ago, but then we went on holiday...excuses excuses)

MrsCarrot · 14/01/2008 18:23

who makes up those names?

microgynon

Wilkie · 14/01/2008 19:01

Dianette was the worst pill for me! It cleared my acne up beautifully but plunged me into a pit of depression and migraines. It took me four years to twig that it was the pill making me feel so bad!! Now we just use condoms. I will prob have the coil after the next baby until we decide whether to stick at 2 or 3.

I need advice and help. I am tearing my hair out with J. He has literally, over the past 5 days, decided he hates his cot and SCREAMS - I mean SCREAMS, tears, shouting, screaming, bangs his head against the bars - ever time we put him in it. He cried solidly from 10.30pm-1.30am without stopping until I admitte defeat and brought him into bed with us. He went straight to sleep. However, I detest co-sleeping and want him back in his cot. He has taken an hour to go down tonight and that is only becuase I have given him Calpol Night

Please help, I feel very teary and don't know what the hell to do with him

JodieG1 · 14/01/2008 19:07

Wilkie I feel for you. Ethan will scream if he isn't fully asleep when he goes in his cot. Most nights he'll be fast asleep, be put down in the cot and wake instantly to scream. Then the whole settling process starts again. I am seriously sick and tired of it. I've just had to leave him up there for a minute while I make a drink and relax as I don't want to end up shouting at him.

Not that I'd cc but I doubt it would work. He's cried for bloody ages in the car before without stopping. He's one of those babies that just wouldn't stop I think.

Sorry no advice, wish I knew myself.

Wilkie · 14/01/2008 19:21

Jodie - tried CC last night for 3 hours and it didn't work. I honestly don't think he would have stopped if I hadn't brought him into bed

Lizzzombie · 14/01/2008 19:27

Thanks for advice - 2happy what is a mirena ?
I seriously feel like shite on this pill. Only have a week lft of this packet and have got an appt at the Drs tomorrow (last day before my free prescriptions end!!!) My face looks like a pizza though. I never ever have had problems with my skin and always followed a good skincare routine and drunk plenty of water. Even when I was a teenager I only got a couple of spots a month, around AF time. I know that means I was very lucky, but i am making up for it now. Its vile and gross. And I so know what you mean about the depression.
I've always fought off bouts of it before, but its really hitting hard at the moment. Would much rather just use condoms than suffer this.

Wilks - 3 hours of crying sounds dreadful. You poor things. Could he be hungry at all? I know it sounds daft, but I had DJ up screaming at me from 11.30 - 1am on Friday night and it took me that long to realise he was hungry. He downed 200ml and zonked out straight away. He's not had a bottle in the night since about 3 months old. I think he is going through a huge growth spurt as he is eating lots and lots too.

It normally takes about 10 - 15 minutes of screaming in his cot before he falls asleep. This evening it took 8 mins! Woo hoo!
Hope you have a better night tonight.

Jodie - pour yourself a glass of wine. Its the only way to deal with CC. x

2happy · 14/01/2008 19:51

Lizz - mirena is a coil that also has a small amount of hormone in - much less than in the pill, so less side effects, but lots of women get no periods at all with it (and since I've none with the mini-pill, I'm hoping I'd be one of those lucky women!!). But initially I went from microgynon (IKWYM eandh! ) to mercilon because some of the pills have different amounts of hormones in them, so what suits one person doesn't necessarily suit another person, your GP or family planning clinic should know what's causing your side effects and pick a pill that should suit you better. Mine did - apart from the wierd foot cramps, mercilon was far better for me than microgynon. But I am definitely going to go for the mirena because I'm crap at remembering pills !

Wilkie - um, yeah, so I'd be the best person to offer anyone advice on boys who are stubborn and won't sleep - in fact if I did suggest anything, you probably ought to ignore me and do the complete opposite (and in a random coincidence, as I typed that, I heard the patter of ds1's feet as he got out of bed and switched his music on - he was put to bed 20mins ago ). I can definitely offer sympathy, though. I hope it's just a phase.

eandh · 14/01/2008 19:57

Actually thinking about it a few weeks ago Hattie was screaming for hours on and off and she refused milk but she did down a bottle of water so was obviously thirsty. Also we noticed she woke around 1.30am and it was quite chilly so we left the geating on constant but low setting and that seem to stop it for a bit. She was been a nightmare to settle last night but I think she was overtired and I can feel one of her bottom 'fang' teeth its sitting right on the gum so expect that was some of the problem.
Tonight was only 5minutes of crying and then she was crashed (wrong way round in the bed with feet on pillows )

I used to be on microgyn but hated it, was on it 6 months after having E then came off it and didnt bother changing as knew we were planning to ttc around when E was 10-12months. I am on cilest now its ok no spots/modd swings etc (well apart from pmt) we need to sort contraception dh flatly refusing to have the snip and I am not sure about coil?????

I have been selling all of the 6-9month clothes and some cot bedding on the 'for sale' boards, its going quite well so am feeling

Happy birthday to Lauren and to William! How did the roast go Lal? No - 10 people sounds a lot!

Susie - lovely to hear that your DH came home. Aww....
Bunny hope you're feeling a bit better today.
Dragon - ah, those early days of the head down the toilet / in the sink. I remember it well.....
Vino E birthday sounds lovely. Can't believe your dad was nervous. Must arrange a trip over to see them soon (I fancy some ginger cake ). Oh, and not doing anything this Sat pm if you fancy meeting up. Am in need of a seriouis catch up with you!
UD how is mil these days?
Wilkiie how exciting though, planning your own extention!! I'd prefer loft + conservatory too.
Sorry to hear about J not sleeping. No idea though mate. P is sometimes like that for daytime naps. Could be hunger as Lizz said - I can't believe how much P has been eating this las tweek. Is 1 a recognised growth sturt? Has he any of the big teeth coming through?
Lizz I missed out on the Boots sale, but think tomorrow the 75% off starts in stores so will be nipping in before work to see if the rumours are true.
Jodie your true friends will be there this weekend. When you're tired, things always seem a lot worse. Hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.
Lizz not gone back on the pill so can't help. Doesn't sound right though
Mrs C / UD / Jodie is it my imagination, or is it just all the boys who are finding the escape routes? We have just about reached the standing up stage, but no walking / escaping / uprooting the living room plant etc. Yet. My regular battles seem to be a nappy change time when she likes being chased around the room with her bum on display. I hope she's not like this in 15 years time
Hi pcf. Haven't seen you for a while. Any plans for Friday?
LTH where's my personal? Anyone would think you spent your life running around after 4 boys or something....
2H sounds like you had a lovely hioliday. Glad to be back??
Canmummy congrats with ww!
Hi to Kat and Eah!

Had a lovely birthday weekend. Satruday evenign was great as we visited a couple of pubs we used to frequenbt as 'youngsters' then ad a gorgeous curry. Big nom noms. Got a phone for my birthday from Pippa (!) and money towardds a laptop. Hurrah!! I'll be able to MN all the time when I get that!

RGee · 14/01/2008 20:00

It took me so long to write that (interuppted by our Tesco delivery) that loads more of you have posted........

eandh · 14/01/2008 20:01

oh and 95% of the time by 4.45 both E and H are in bed with me as Dh gets up for work at 4.30 and is incapable of being quiet and I refuse to start my day then, I have Hattie nuggled up one wide with pillows to stop her rolling over and ellie sleeps on the other side although does insist on intwinning her legs with mine !!

Divvy question...what is the difference between mini pill and normal pill? (was on the POP when BF'ing, but had constant AF for ages and ages so came off it) Ugh.

eandh · 14/01/2008 20:03

Oooops forgot

Happy Birthday Lauren and William

Lizzzombie · 14/01/2008 20:04

RGEE GOOD TO SEE YOU !

RGee · 14/01/2008 20:05

Forgot to say (particularly for Lizz) Dh and I have just made some buns this evening. How domesticated am I, not to mention dh [proud emoticon]

eandh · 14/01/2008 20:07

Lizz - PMSL at that comment especially as Ellie and Dh went for a run yesterday morning (freaky child takes after her father re running so they do about 1/2 mile on sunday mornngs apparently shes quite good)before they went they do a warm up (starjumps, jumping up and down etc) she wanted me to do it but my boobs would have given me 2 black eyes!!

OP posts:
Lizzzombie · 14/01/2008 20:08

rgee - did you make buns because you are not on the pill?

2happy · 14/01/2008 20:09

Lizz - the normal pill has 2 hormones in, the mini-pill has one (and it's the same one as is in the mirena....not that I'm a saleswoman for mirena )

2happy · 14/01/2008 20:09

Chuck a bun over, RGee...

Lizzzombie · 14/01/2008 20:10

Ahh - thats so cute that she goes running with her Dad!
I am definately the wrong shape for running! (& swimming, & yoga & aerobics.....!)

eandh · 14/01/2008 20:13

ooo I dont do any exercise excpt pushing the buggy and shopping (have good muscle tone on arms from bag carrying )

It is very cute because dh bought her proper running leggings and then she wears her 'running' tshirt and gillet and baseball cap and dh wears his running legging things and tshirt with sweatshirt and cap and off they jog (down to river, across bridge, through the park and right round the estate!)
