E&H you hit the nail on the head then wth 'I could sleep when I liked then'......oh to have those days back again......but then I wouldn't have such a gorgeous daughter to play with would I?

Had a lovely birthday for her and her baptism was a really nice service. My dad was a bit nervous about it bless him, although I don't think he was quite as emotional as when he married me and DH. There were 13 of us there for dinner for last night, service today and lunch afterwards. She got loads more presents so have left most of them at mums until we move cos we have no room for them here. Will put a couple of pics on my profile after this post (if I can manage it).

Did manage an hour or so sleep yesterday morning before heading off to mums to prep food. That was a busy day! We also went to view the photos from a local photographer mum had taken E to before xmas. She is gettting herself a lovely montage of 6 shots and I got to choose the free 10x8 shot.

2happy glad you had a good hol.

DH - sorry you are feeling poo. Lets hope its over soon!

Susie - I had tears in my eyes when I read about your DH leaving all emotional. It must be as hard for him working away as it is for you coping alone with your bad back.

hello all - not much to report here, we were at the IL's this weekend and i have a stinky cold. bought Z some new shoes, dh bought a new phone and cause we can't really afford it. but his old one was dead. but did he really have to buy it brand new??

grr.

Dh - hope you're feeling bit better soon. i'm sure you'll bloom at some point (i never did, but i bet you're much better than me! )

susiecutiemincepies · 13/01/2008 21:00

DH sorry you are feeling crappy. You know it will pass and you will feel better for a little while... a month or two maybe!

vino Is your Dad a vicar then? ( am i being slow here... ) My mum is a vicar, and was SO nervous baptising Isobel. Bless her. She was so worried about it, and just before she did the pouring on the water bit, she said "Isobel, will you ever trust me again" Izzy looked puzzled then mum carried on, and she was so shocked that granny had just held her half upside down over a big thing of water and wet her head. she kept touching her hair and staring at mum! was so funny.

laughalot I hope the dinner has gone well! Shame there wasn't room for two more... we love roast dinners, Izzy only eats if she can feed herself at the mo ( a total nightmare, but thats another story ) so she loves a roast as she can shovel most of it in on her own with her little chubby hands!

UD at least it'll be under warranty and will work, and well you know how these things make men happy What size are Z's feet? Does he walk with shoes on now, or is it too cumbersome for him? we have some lovely ones from clarks for Iz, but if she stands up in them, she seems to struggle abit, but then, she's only furniture walking still.

Well, i can hear someone small calling for daddy, so must dash... catch you all in a bit hopefully

Wilkie · 13/01/2008 21:26

Hello. Well what a manic weekend. Had second party today at mum's which was lovely. J went through the whole day agai with no sleep but has crashed out now!!

DH - sorry you are feeling crap. Am dreading next time cos I slept SO much with J and won't be able to do that again!!

Vino - glad the baptism went well. Your ad did such a good job for J, tell them we said Hi!

EAH - odds and sods....but the best present was a gorgeous shirt from a very kind MNer....!!

Susie - bless your DH. It must be hard for you both

UD - men and their phones eh??

Well, we are debating either a single storey extension OR a self build conservatory and loft conversion. Too many decisions to make and SO much mney involved!!!!

susiecutiemincepies · 13/01/2008 22:12

My vote would be a loft conversion and a self build conservatory... I think there are some lovely conservatory's out there, and you could make it so lovely. You can make them quite lrge you know... there are ways round the planning side of it, DH knows all about it if you'd like to know
I'm sure you'd get more space to do that and a loft conversion, than you would with a single story extension.

Think of all the light you'd have flooding in... unless you were going to have a glass roof on the extension? erm, no def go for the loft and conserv.

Sounds really exciting to me, but the smallest things in life please me.

vinorouge · 14/01/2008 09:03

Happy birthday Lauren and William!

Wilkie - I agree with Susie go for conservatory and loft conv. Dh's parents did a self build conservatory that didn't need planning permission and its huge, prob 3 times the size of your lounge. Its a bit too big imo but I was justgobsmacke dyou could build something so big without planning. What would you get in the loft? It was just dad me and Ellen in the lounge yest morn when your txt came through so me and dad were chatting about you and J anyway!

Susie - my dad is a methodist minister. He just dabbed water on Ellen's forehead so it was quite a 'clean baptism iykwim. He and my mum got e a gorgeous wooden stool as a baptism present that has her name on the top and underneath 'baptised 13 january 2008'. I love it!

UD - I am coming down with a cold too.

theUrbanDryad · 14/01/2008 09:20

morning everyone. it's Zacky here. i just wanted to tell you all about my new trick that's driving mumma insane. i can now climb out of my high chair! aren't i clever?

Lizzzombie · 14/01/2008 11:07

morning!
My Boots.com bargains have arrived safely. I am so pleased with them - will definately be looking out for the 75% sale every year now.

Have a quick question re the pill for you all:
I am on microgynon 30. And I have been on it for 3 weeks. Have got a lot of spotting, and a face full of acne and have got PMT which has made me into an evil witch from hell. In short not happy on this at all.
Would you:
A. Stop taking it immediately or
B. Finish the cycle then finish it, or
C: keep persevering in case its just my body getting used to it.

I am in a quandry. (a very spotty and slightly evil one!)

katwith3kittens · 14/01/2008 11:53

Dont know the answer sorry Lizz

laughalot · 14/01/2008 12:39

Kat have you something to tell us xx

canmummy · 14/01/2008 12:40

Hi everyone,

Lo asleep so a quick post before laptop dies again!

I'm really chuffed because I lost 3lb on weightwatchers this week and still managed to go out for our christmas do and managed a little party for lo yesterday as well.

Lizz - quick answer, I'd make an appointment with your gp/practice nurse to swap brands as they all have slightly different side effects.

Wilkie - not sure what I'd do in your shoes about that, sorry! Love our conservatory but we don't use it in winter as it's too cold and hot summer's day it's also quite unbearable (and it's also sprung a leak which is quite torrential!)

Not much else to report, I'm having the day off for lo's birthday tomorrow but still undecided what to do. Taking her out for lunch (we did that with other 2) is quite difficult with her milk allergy so seems a bit pointless. Dh is cross because we're paying for nursery and she's not going!

MrsCarrot · 14/01/2008 12:43

UD - F can climb out of the highchair, out of the cot, on the table, up the stairs and onto the top of ds1's cabin bed and does all of them frequently.

The other day I realised he was awake after his nap because instead of shouting Mumumumum, he was knocking on the door. There were several toys around - he'd been up for a while.

MrsCarrot · 14/01/2008 12:49

lizz - thats happened to me everytime I've tried to take the pill since having ds1. It got to the point where friends and dh would beg me to stop taking it.

katwith3kittens · 14/01/2008 12:52

Quite catergorically thats a 'NO' just before any rumours atart and things get out of hand

I still keep hinting for DH to get the snip but so far he's not interested .

Wuss.

JodieG1 · 14/01/2008 13:05

Happy birthday to the lo's I missed, I'm trying to get back into things and keep up but you all talk far too much

I'm sure you'll feel better soon DH, doesn't make it any easier though I know.

Vino glad the baptism went well, We're getting Ethan Christened on sunday but my "friend" has put quite a dampner on things tbh.

Wilkie not sure what I'd do, we've been thinking of a loft conversion but it will cost loads! I've been feeling quite crap still, mainly about the "friend". I think I'm ok just generally tired.

UD nice to see you again, Ethan has to be strapped into his highchair or he stands up and tries to get out, nightmare isn't it!

MrsC lol at F knocking on the door. Ethan is a climber too, he gets on to Morgan and Caitlin's bed when we're upstairs, looks funny sitting there with them. They have the low toddler beds still at the moment.

Wilkie · 14/01/2008 13:09

Lizz - the pill is evil, I can't take it due to all the probs you said PLUS it exacerbates my depression. Microgynon 30 gave me thrush for 3 months too! I would stop taking it at the end of this packet and speak to your GP about swapping brands or maybe the coil.

Am at work, will be back later x

bunnyhunny · 14/01/2008 13:24

hi everyone
happy birthday ellen and lauren, and looshkin's william is they are still about.

Wilkie - I agree about the conservatory. I only know a couple of people who use theirs a lot. I would go with a 'proper' extension personally.

Lizz - I have a friend who gets like that on the pill. I think changing brands helped, but in the end she went for the implant.

UD - Great to have you back! . Well, climbing seems a bit extreme for me! I am actively discouraging that one

MRs C - lol at knocking on the door! I am waiting for S to escape from his cot. Making sure the stairgate is shut everynight and leaving the bathroom door shut (we have a toilet fascination at the mo - got there just before my mobile was dropped in it today!)

Had a crappy weekend - had a huge bout of depression again. I thought I was safe for the rest of winter, as I staved off the last bout with some good ol' prozac, but this one took me completely by surprise. Cried all day on saturday (I remember crying when iggle-piggle sailed off in his boat, he is so alone !!) then spent all day in bed on sunday, just couldnt face anything I think the tablets are kicking in now though... I do get paranoid about ttc while taking prozac tho, but its either that or become a recluse..

Wilkie, we had a conservaorty at our old house and although it was a lovely space it was completely wasted during the summer and winter.

If you go the conservaotry route get a really good one, with underfloor heating and radiators for winter and velux windows in the roof and proper fitted blinds for the summer otherwise IMO they are a watse of money.

Personally I'd never have a conservaorty ever again.

Good to have you back UD.

Sorry about the lack of personals...
laters.

MrsCarrot · 14/01/2008 15:55

We have a wood conservatory with a glass roof and it is lovely but freezing at the moment. It's sort of wrapped around the back of our terrace and our utility room also containing the fridge is in there.

Despite the glass roof it is usable in the summer with the doors open but Autumn and spring are the best times. It is a bit of a dumping ground when it's this cold with piles of clothes, a wood chopping area and the pram. There is also only the light from the uility but in summer it's really pretty with tea-lights and lamps.

A carpenter built ours for around 7k which was substantially cheaper than a conservatory company where the prices ranged from 12 - 30 k.
I do like mine but it's certainly not an extra room all year.
