HI all, norty, glad kitchen is sorted and hope DD and DH are better soon. Hope everyone else is ok.

We had a nice weekend, DD was fantastic. She was passed around from pillar to post and barely complained. No negative comments about bfing (in fact my bro's new gf who was lovely, 22, with a 4yo. who said i was doing a great job and she missed it) which was good but lots of comments re: weaning, basically relentless "oh look, she wants a crisp" "give her some food" "you're starving her" "DD told me she wanted some apple pie" which was all said in jest but was vvvv wearing, and the best one from my mother who asked why i hadn't weaned yet and i said dh & i would do it together when we were ready, she said "you're so controlling!"

Worst journey in the world there though. 15 minutes onto the motorway and a warning light comes on in my car and the temp shoots up and fan doesn't kick in. So I pull over, check manual for the warning light and wait for engine to cool down a little. We get off the motorway and drive home on the A roads willing the car not to break down as we down don't have cover. We get home, switch cars, by now it's 1.5 hours since we left. Stop halfway and feed DD, back on motorway and stuck in crawling traffic for 2 hours, in a car where the fan also doesn't work so you have to put the heater on to cool the engine. Arrive 7 hours after we left. Fortunately DD was great and slept most of the way (but then didn't go to bed till midnight!)

So that's my weekend. Hope all yours were ok.

MHC my mum suffered really badly with her joints when she had a seriously underactive thyroid.

justbeme · 09/12/2007 22:41

Glad you had a good time Bumper - at least you were only 15mins away and could go home to switch cars. But 7 hrs!! How many miles away was it?
This new 6mth rule is a bit of a shocker to people who went by the 4mth rule I suppose! But you do whats right for you eh??!!

IsawBUMPERkissingsantaclaus · 09/12/2007 22:48

The journey should have taken 2.5 hours !

MHC look here, a simple blood test will rule out thyroid problems. Could it be a pg hangover?

Elsbells · 10/12/2007 07:38

Morning everyone

Hope you have had a good weekend.
I haven't caught up w/your weekend posts but I guess all is ok? I had a bit of a dirty red wine hangover Sat (I didn't even have much, really I didn't - like 5 small glasses in a space of 5 hours!). A few of us mom's met for girly drinks and nibbles at a friends house and it ended up with 3 of us dancing in the living room at midnight. I bit sad I know but we don't get out much.

I am just downing my 2nd cup of coffee and getting ready for the day. So much to do but just can't be arsed.

Enjoy your mornings.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 10/12/2007 09:08

Thanks Holly, I have sent him an email. I bet he's regretting volunteering...

Hi Elsbells, I know the feeling about not being arsed to do anything this morning.

andiemisletoe · 10/12/2007 09:44

morning all my lo has turned nocturnal feeding loads in the night again just when I thought it had improved

supposed to be going to dhs xmas do on sat but is on riverboat and we won't get home till 1 at the earliest so might have to give it a miss as I don't think he will take 2 bottles of expressed milk and I don't want my poor mum to be left with screaming infant in wee hours

I feel can't be arsed a bit this am but must wrap presssies so will catch up later

BadZelda · 10/12/2007 09:49

by the ay hollyu, if lycos etc are crap, i can easily set him up a temp one at badzelda.com? or a number of other domains. or sort him a google one?

Morning!

Els, EURGHHH! to a party on a riverboat. Can't think of anything worse than a party on a boat. Sounds like you have a great excuse not to go.

If you see me on here more than intermittently today, boot me off.

BTW, does anyone else read the smileys as f*ing grin, f*ing smile etc. or is that just me?

andiemisletoe · 10/12/2007 10:36

foxy I do have a good excuse don't I I was very pissed off with dh to be honest when he told me it was on a boat it is his fec* ing company so why we can't go to a nice restaurant I don't know
he left it to the seccy to organise. He says it is hard to accomodate 70 people which is true last year we went to a private room at the globe theatre which was very nice also I don't think it occurred to him that it might not be such a good idea with lo

BadZelda · 10/12/2007 10:46

Thumbs up from me to parties on boats: we had our wedding on the Mercia, and it was brilliant. Not for everyone though I suppose....
Bumper - sorry to hear about your horrible car journey; sounds like my worst nightmare. It's actually years since I've been on a motorway car journey; can't deal with them at all partly cos of carsickness.
How's everyone else's monday morning?

BadZelda · 10/12/2007 10:47

Of course the main thing about boats is that you can't bail whenever you want like on dry land. Can see how that would be a major issue with LO; we had a ban on kids over 6 mo at our wedding - and the friends who came without them said they had a great time, and how nice it was to be out together without the kids.

andiemisletoe · 10/12/2007 10:52

BZ my exact complaint we are trapped on the boat so no ability to get home if it all goes pear shaped for my mum. dhs other suggestion was to take him with us so I sit in a corner with the baby whilst you get ratarsed nice

BadZelda · 10/12/2007 10:55

Yeah Andie - I can see how that option wouldn't be appealing!

BadZelda · 10/12/2007 10:56

Although for the wedding, we were going up and down the thames, making scheduled stops so people could join or get off. And we were hardly out to sea, just between richmond and tower bridge - so if someone had an emergency would have been easy enough to let them off. Maybe you could ask what the itinerary is? I'm sure if you needed to get off, they wouldn't have a problem with it?

BadZelda · 10/12/2007 11:04

Of course - I'm forgetting you'd probably need to get off at a certain place to get your car. Grrr at DH for not organising it better!

andiemisletoe · 10/12/2007 11:13

BZ it doesn't stop at all and goes from the strand to greenwich and we live in kingston so at least an hour away grrr grrr grrr

annobalthebignosereindeer · 10/12/2007 11:17

Morning!

I quite like the idea of a party on a boat, but then I used to work for a cruise company (actually that's how DH and I met - whole other story).

Bumper, your car journey sounds horrific.

Andie - a long shot re the joint pain, but do you take any form of EFA supplements (fish oils etc).

We're also nocturnal feeding here. DS1 has been ill as well (he spent the whole day in bed yesterday) so our nights have not been the best. He actually woke up this morning back to normal though .

annobalthebignosereindeer · 10/12/2007 11:25

Sorry, I meant MHC re joint pain

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 10/12/2007 11:25

Good morning. We're having a tv and stickers day today, as DD couldn't go to nursery due to tummy upset over the weekend. fingers crossed she seems absolutely fine this morning and breakfast has so far stayed put (tmi?).

I wouldn't fancy the boat idea either. Andiem, I think that you should insist that DH takes you for a lovely dinner another time to make up for it.

I'm still having joint pains as well - primarily in my feet and knees. I've also been feeling dizzy and excessively exhausted, despite some almost decent nights of sleep recently. I am going to go to the docs and ask them to do some bloodtests as well.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 10/12/2007 11:40

and I'm trying to get a wii. Probably a pointless task. I have one of those stock checker sites open and have already missed them at amazon and John Lewis by being too slow at filling in my details.
