well done gills lo sorry to hear about work i dont really have much experience there.
james- james seems like he's having a great time with the food, i used to feed mine with 2 spoons swapping with them as they eat a spoonful, very messy though.
last night was very awwkward back soon

GillL · 03/01/2008 16:15

Thanks all. It's a manager who's been there since the desk started 4 years ago as a team manager and now she's the desk manager. She just thinks that they're not doing any work. I feel much better now. 2 of them got taken away for a 'chat' earlier. Their comments about being treated as children ended up in the manager who complained's Inbox. They're all still being friendly with me so I think it was just that they were 'shooting the messenger'.

That sounds like an awful place to work James. That would never happen here. Normally people can get away with murder.

James - ds doesn't really do anything other than roll. He tries to hold his bottle but he can't keep it in the right place. He also only laughs when he's tickled.

How's the snow My2Weegirls? We were forecast for 2 cm but we've just had a bit of sleet. I hate it when it snows in the week cos it causes havoc on the roads. I can't remember the last time it snowed at the weekend. I'd love for dd to be able to play in the snow in the garden.

tasha21 · 03/01/2008 17:02

my lo doesn't do very much yet either, he's started hitting at toys and smiles and gives soundless laugh's. he's supposed to be getting his first op in the middle of january but still havent recieved appointment! brb ill get to tell you's about last night at some point!

tasha21 · 03/01/2008 17:24

ok so last night was a nightmare, it was the kids bed time so ds2 was very grumpy and bored from sitting in highchair for so long and dp's dad was half an hour late, dp'dads wife sate table with at the end of the table with a big face on her and nobody spoke to me, i tried but could tell nobody was interested, lo was very grumpy too he had been awake all day and was over tierd, they hinted that they wanted him out but i just told them how it was and carried on rocking his baby seat with my foot. but glad its over

tasha21 · 03/01/2008 17:31

oops sat at the end of the table not sate table

tasha21 · 03/01/2008 19:47

i just got the biggest fright! there wat a hug thunder thing and we were left in pitch black still am but managed to find candles ds1and2 were petrified took me ages to calm them down luckily lo is still asleep but due a bottle

tasha21 · 03/01/2008 21:05

lol typed that in the dark

GillL · 03/01/2008 22:41

Glad you got through it tasha. I guess it's better they say nothing than to say something mean.

I hate power cuts. I can imagine how scary it must have been with the thunder too.

Ds has his cold back with a vengance. His nose has been streaming all day and he's been crying a lot which is not like him. I've only just got him to sleep, 2 hours later than usual. He's been awake since 5pm. At least dd was relatively good tonight.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/01/2008 23:17

Glad things went ok tasha. Gill, J is starting to roll onto his side but can't roll over fully yet as his little fat arm is in the way. He laughs a lot, especially when I go to see him after his nap he laughs and squeals like a mentalist for absolutely no reason, it's funny.

He doesn't "chat" much though, I wish he would, it's lovely when he does, it always looks as if he's trying to pronounce something beginning with p, over and over. A bit like pzzzzzzzjjjh. Either that or "Henry's Cat" style yowling eeeahrghooOOOowowoohaaahhAAA...

My2Weegirls · 04/01/2008 07:56

it keeps snowing and then melting here - but i now want it to snow as much as it wants as we don't need to be going out in the car.

well done tasha for standing up to them and getting your wee one settled. bet you are glad that it's over with!

gill - your poor ds - was it today that he was going back to dr?

james - my dd2 never shuts up - she talks all the time, even whem having milk! i still don't put her down much with dd1 about so she's not getting a lot of practice to do rolling.

we had another bad night with the teeth - been up since 4.30 so i'm shattered already - just off to get a shower before dp starts work (he's working from home today)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/01/2008 12:41

Aaw you're so lucky my2weegirls, it's lovely when they chatter away to themselves! I've often heard people say girls talk first and boys walk first. I suppose there are many exceptions though.

James is definitely a proper "boy", or should I say bruiser. He keeps on hurting me accidentally (it isn't when he's annoyed or anything, he's just so clumsy!) His hands are quite big and strong and he pinches my skin when he grabs at me, and if he's in our bed he regularly wallops my face in the mornings to wake me up with an impressive left hook.

He rips/kicks parts off his toys too. There's a plastic crab he particularly enjoys killing, the part where it hooks onto his baby gym has gone white with stress (as will I by the time I'm 30 at this rate! ) by being yanked off that many times.

He's suddenly discovered he has feet and has been playing with his toes at evry opportunity, and trying to suck them. It's very cute!

A somewhat less cute discovery he made in the tummytub the other day was his willy he did look quite awestruck and chuffed with himself (typical man) lol

He's driving us mad at the momentby stuffing his hand too far in his mouth and making himself gag every few minutes. He doesn't seem to learn so it's just retch retch retch all the time. Does anyone else's lo do this or am I the only one with a bulimic baby???

GillL · 04/01/2008 13:50

What a nightmare. Took ds to his follow up appointment at the doctors and he now has an infection (bronchilitis). I also got her to check dd as she had a temperature of 38.5 this morning and she has tonsilitis. They both have antibiotics and I'm at home with them. When I got in they were both asleep but woke up almost straight away. Dd wet herself and ds was sick. I had to leave ds crying to clean dd up and get her lunch and eventually he cried himself to sleep. He wasn't screaming, otherwise I would have picked him up. I feel so sorry for ds, he can hardly breathe. He cried all the way through his last feed. He's been asleep for the last 2 hours (he really needs it) and I keep having to hold a karvol soaked tissue over his nose when he starts to struggle to breathe. The doctor prescribed some nasal drops to help dry his nose up but they'd run out so dh is going in after work after they've had a delivery. I really hope it works. It feels like he's had a cold every other week since he was born.

Dd was supposed to be having a tea party with 2 of her cousins tomorrow. She's going to be really upset if my sister decides she doesn't want them to come (I wouldn't blame her).

loler · 04/01/2008 13:57

Mine also spends a lot of time with his whole fist in his mouth gagging! James - lentil weaving alert!!!!!!! - I've got this book of veggie baby and toddler ideas. Although it has loads of puree ideas does have ideas for older babies and toddlers - could use for BLW (which I can't believe I'm saying but will probably end up having a go at). Me and DH don't eat meat but have some fish and the other dc are the same at home (my mum trys to shove meat into them at every chance when we are down there!). Doctors and HV have all commented that their diet is likely to be just as healthy if not more so than if they had meat all the time as I have to think more about what I give them.

So....soap box session over. Happy new year everyone. Can't remember what I was going to write or to who but...

Tasha - I would never speak to the nasty little man ever again!

Uki - I love dungarees (send your unwanted ones my way), Think they look more comfortable to wear and easy access for nappies!

Gill (?) - also had a parenting row with dh on christmas morning. We decided in the end that it was because we were talking to each other before 9am and we don't normally have to (mornings are normally silent in our house!). Hope you're over the work upset - so would hate to be a manager!

Ds2 - has rolled over but it was on the bed so not sure if he meant to. not doing much else (the velcro on his back must be working!). The other DC didn't sit up or crawl for ages yet so hoping he'll follow suit.

Banana - lovely photos will put some more on my profile- am feeling very boastful of how yummy my super smilie baby is!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/01/2008 14:15

Thanks for the book idea loler, I am actually veggie so don't even know why I gave him meat so early in the first place, other than mil nagging about it. I spose I was just trying to keep everyone happy! I found a book called Babywatch in an old box of books my sis gave me, so I'm having a read through it. Trying not to balk at words like carob and tofu.

Gill, so sorry to hear about your poorly dc's. It's so weird, my great-nephew had bronchitis over christmas which also developed into bronchilitis. He wasn't feeding and got quite dehydrated so they gave my niece some rehydration sachets to give him, and also some saline drops, but he wouldn't let her near him at all (he's 10 months old and huge) so I suggested adding a bit of salt to his bath and just having a good old splash so the water went up his nose. (Sneaky) He's mostly better now anyway so it didn't last that long if it's any consolation Gill. Hope he's all better soon!

loler · 04/01/2008 14:37

banana - remember you saying you were veggie, thats why i suggested it. makes things easier if you only have to cook one meal for everyone. another good reason for holding back on meat is the stinking nappies you get as a result!

Gill - life with more than one child, i think they do it one purpose having worked out who does what! hope things are getting better

loler · 04/01/2008 14:38

and me again! - put photos on profile

GillL · 04/01/2008 16:11

Thankfully ds is asleep again after a very whingy hour awake. He's really off his food at the moment and only taking 4-5oz at a time. I wouldn't even have thought of dd having tonsilitis. I'm so glad we had to go to the doctors anyway. Hopefully the abs will catch it early before she gets any pain in her throat.

Wasn't me who had the row loler. Work got much better yesterday afternoon, thnks. Really cute pics btw. I struggle to get smiley pics of ds. He stops as soon as I press the button.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/01/2008 17:16

Oh he's gorgeous loler! And everyone's baby has more hair than my little baldy lol

He's having a screeching session today just for the hell of it. I don't know how he does it, but he screeches really quietly! I'm leaving him to it as he rarely makes much noise.

tasha21 · 05/01/2008 10:31

o poor dc's and poor you gill thats terriible. my ds 2 has a bad cough atm but is only really flares up at night-time.
james- my ds1+2 used to do that and it prob wont be long before ds3 will be doing it as he has found his way to his mouth AND NEVER HAS THEM OUT OF IT. oops ds2 hit the keyboard.
i know you all are wondering why i spoke to him but it was because of the huge arguement that me and dp had on xmas day, i threw dp out and gave him my ring and told him to tell his dad congrats and then when dp came back and appologised i decided i wasn't going to let this man have any effect on our relationship, i had to bite my tounge alot when dp was talking about him but hey he's at the airport now and god only knows when i have to see him again should be a long time considering he has a baby on the way!
well im off to tidy up and sort kids out im taking ds1 to the pantomime today, cant wait!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 05/01/2008 15:49

Do you ever feel like you can't do right for doing wrong with this parenting lark? Not just with the weaning but in general! I got some baby einstein dvds today, and let James watch the first one thinking I was doing something good for him, then I go on wikipedia (internet encyclopedia) and it says expert pediatricians recommend parents don't let their children watch any tv for the first 2 years of life, and that children who do watch tv get lower language scores than those who are told stories instead.

I give up.

tasha21 · 05/01/2008 16:42

yea i know james but id be lost without cbeebees
ds1 loved the start of the panto but at half time we went out to get juice and then he refused to go back in think he was scared of the witch and the he/she lol bless.

My2Weegirls · 05/01/2008 20:11

HOOOOORAY!!!! not 1 but 2 bottom teeth made an appearance this afternoon. i have my happy baby back (for a while at least) only another 18 toothiepegs to go.

jmaes - remember that wikipedia can be updated by anyone - whether they are an expert or not. imo as long as everything is balanced and in moderation there is no harm (as tasha says i have no idea what i'd do without cbeebies and nick jr (dora and diego keep dd1 entertained for hours) and she loves books too - spent about 2 hours reading with her today. everyone tells us that she has a great vocabulary for her age - so don't worry.

gill - your poor dcs. hopefully the abs will help them both quickly. i suffered for about 30 years with my tonsils till they eventually managed to take them out - very long story so i hope your dd is better soon.

loler - your ds looks so happy and i love his tractor top

tasha - at least you can relax now about your fil - you are a much bigger person than i am to have gone along and met with him etc. your poor ds at the panto

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 05/01/2008 21:57

Hah, coincidence, I was just about to post that I'm 99% sure James tooth has cut today as it feels very hard, not gummy, but as he steadfastly WILL NOT let me look, even in his sleep (cruel mummy!)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 05/01/2008 21:59

Wow, what a teeny post! I've shocked myself lol

tasha21 · 06/01/2008 13:03

i really wanted to see the end lol so i managed to talk him into standing at the door to the balcony but then the he/she ran up the stairs and he ran out lol lo got his appointment for the operation he goes in on the 24th
ds2s cough is getting worse rather than better.
