Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

There, I've caught up with posting, now I need to get some time to do serious reading...

babypowder · 13/11/2007 12:05

Oh god, I go back to work full time in 10 days Hard to know how to feel, really. There is a small, selfish bit inside me that is quite looking forward to it, but I'm mostly happy being a SAHM that does a bit of work on the side. Ho hum.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 13/11/2007 20:04

GB - We have a kiddiguard as well, you may find your skirting board gets in the way, if you are able to attach wood where the hooks are then you'll be okay. I am going to have to get another gate for the top of the stairs. dd2 makes a beeline for them.

Dd2 stood unaided yesterday (her 11 month birthday!) only for a couple of seconds though.

Indith · 13/11/2007 20:19

Well the poor Dr just looked bemused when I said we had been washing his eyes with bm! Bless men. But he does have conjunctivitis and we have drops too. The worst part is that he can't go to creche until it has cleared up, so of course I can't go to lectures. Poo.

Still no baby news! I want to know!

Eli, hoping for a safe and RSV free winter for you.

Work bp

Seems strange people going back to work. I feel al ittle in limbo land being a student...sort of working but not. Been finding it tough in terms of mum friends at the moment, I just don't seem to have any anymore and I really miss it but I can't get to swimming as have no car in the week and other things all seem to be either too far away and so would need a car or on days when I have lectures. I just don't have any close friends anymore.

Not that wallowing in self pity will do me any good. I must make more of an effort to see those friends I do have, though most of them have full time jobs and so go to the pub etc in the evenings when I am trying to do uni work.

I am so grateful for the door at the bottom of our stairs! It is always shut as it is by the front door which is really draughty so ds has only once investigated the stairs. So far anyway!

Terrible week with lots of hormones and general stress flying about.

Will catch up with everyone when I'm feeling a little less

Elibean · 14/11/2007 13:46

(((((((((FGS))))))))))

How's the eye, Indith? And the baby? Your wishes working well so far, thanks - dd settling into just a coughy cold, no wheezing in sight today. Phew.

BP, am trying to imagine going out to work (as opposed to in to work) and think I feel just a teeny bit . If it was p/t, at least. Can well understand mixed feelings, am sure I'd feel the same - I feel mixed about not going to work.

dd1 is incredibly clingy this week - and tearful/furious. Fifth day of ABs? Anniversary of dd2's arrival? Approaching 4s? [weary emoticon]

accessorizewithbabysick · 14/11/2007 13:51

Just had brilliant idea, we could all post 1st birthday photos of lo's on the facebook wall. Wouldn't that be nice?
sorry fgs & eli having crappy week
bp, do know exactly how you feel about work, in a way you yearn to have timeout but then again. I've found it to be a real adjustment although only 3 days, only now (back since August) feeling ok about it and quite enjoying the balance. I really appreciate the time with both of them now, my priorities are far more in whack and my house is far grubbier

jabberwocky · 14/11/2007 16:01

Hi all, just checking in quickly. Lol at Indith's dr. I'm an optometrist and still didn't admit to my ped that I was using bm

FGS, so sorry you're having a rough time. Is it problems from the birth experience or just hormones in general do you think?

eli, glad dd2 is not getting worse. We're wanting to get a bigger house when we move so next year can be meet-up at jabber's for some warm weather and well babies

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 14/11/2007 20:39

Vibes for better day tomorrow ELi and FGS.

FrostyGlassSlipper · 14/11/2007 20:46

Thanks Guys.

Jabber - I think it is post-breastfeeding hormones + long period hormones + cough/cold that won't go + lots of personal stresses + children who have been ailing for ages

But....I feel a bit cheerier as I've had lots of tea at friends houses today

Cant believe birthdays are looming.....

weirdbird · 14/11/2007 20:49

You want to be careful what promises you make Jabber, we could all end up at yours having a mass reunion... What would you DH think and how BIG a house are you thinking of!!! "lol"

FGS hope you are feeling better

Have had success with the pushchair and just leaving her in it after having gone round the block, she seems to have a phobia about her cot and it just doesnt seem worth the agro at the moment, will have to persevre once she has stopped throwing up, if she ever does...

Just a bit of a pain to have to go for a walk every time she needs a nap and am not looking forward to when it is raining!
But she obviously needs the nap as she has slept 2hours each time!!!

Oh and AQ I think thats a great idea!

Yesterday was a nightmare day, Hannah throw up as we where meant to leave to pick DD1 up from Choir, then discovered DH hadnt asked his mum to look after Hannah while we went to parents evening, then I couldnt get hold of them to ask if they could, when I finally did they wherent able to help, then DH had a fatality on the line ahead of him and they kicked them off the train at Richmond a good 30min drive away even if it wasn't rush hour, so I ended up taking DD1 to Rainbows with Hannah in tow and then had 5min to get to parents evening with Hannah. I did it, but needed a stiff drink by the time I finally got them all into bed that night, just in time for Dh to finally make it home, telling me how hard it had all been.

weirdbird · 14/11/2007 20:50

Oh and Hannah head butted a handle today and has the most amazing black eye

GodzillasBumcheek · 14/11/2007 22:03

Tbh.......i can't afford that much for a stairgate. We are saving to move house (sigh...still), and that's not going too well. Bloomin' Christmas and a birthday...well, you all know how it is .

Elibean · 14/11/2007 22:18

Thanks

Whirlwind day and evening, but its bed time and I love bedtime (for all the wrong, well, mojo-less, reasons) atm.

Jabber, Jabber....beware the cavalcade of virus-escaping, winter-loathing Brits: we may just have to charter a MN jet

FGS, you and I should start by sending ailing kids over to visit Jabber

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 14/11/2007 22:21

Should we hold a cyber party for our LOs?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 14/11/2007 22:35

I've created an event on FB for our LOs.

I'm too sad for words!

FrostyGlassSlipper · 14/11/2007 22:39

I must be even sadder as I have accepted your invitation

jabberwocky · 15/11/2007 00:40

I'm going to have to sit down and figure out the facebook thing as well as set up my page on MN. I am really sadly behind on all of this.

I think dh would consider a British invasion a wonderful lark and we are moving back to our (adopted) hometown so have lots of friends to help with overflow

Glad your feeling better, FGS. I know how hard it is on those down-days.

Devongirl · 15/11/2007 08:37

I use facebook - where is your page? Can I have a look?

x

weirdbird · 15/11/2007 10:13

Well thats it then Jabber, Eli shall we start planning the invasion!

Is there a Bath and Body Works near you Jabber (I have my priorities straight of course!)

Devongirl we all added a made up person its on one of the past pages, will find it in a minute

lucy5 · 15/11/2007 10:32

Hello all! Hope everyone is feeling better.
Congratulations Daisy!

Glad i am not the only one having problems with sleep. Ds is still waking once a night, after I am in bed and a couple of times before. He is teething constantly and now has 9 teeth.

The other problem I have is my stupid house, completely un child friendly. it is open plan with 3 sets of stairs off the living room all of which are nearly impossible to put a baby gate on due to there being no support or just too big. Being open plan I also have my kitchen in the same area again impossible to fence off. My bedroom which is where ds sleeps as we haven't got a room for him is also open [like a mezzanine] so he is constantly disturbed by us watching telly , laughing, coughing etc.

I can't wait to sell the blasted place but it still needs work doing on it and although dh doesn't have the time he is still refusing to get anybody in to do it. I might just book someone anyway.

Sorry I am on a moan here. Our sleep is also being disturbed by dd (6) who is coming into our bed in the middle of the night, she doesn't wake us up initially but she spreads out and it's getting a bit cramped especially if we have ds in there too. I think over the holidays I am going to take her back to her room, at the moment I am just to lazy to take her down the 3 flights of stairs to do. This makes my house sound big, it isn't there's just a lot of stairs!

Anyway rant over. On a more positive note ds is starting to walk. He does a bit of a drunken wobble at the moment and his record ids 6 steps, although he is trying to change direction, which complicates matters.

I weighed him the other day and he is now a whopping 14.5 kgs!

magnolia74 · 15/11/2007 11:19

Oh blimey, why is it that I can't juggle Facebook and Mn? If I spend time one one the other suffers

Welcome back Devongirl

Bp any news on baby? My friend had her 1st baby Tuesday Morning A little boy weighing 6lb 6oz. Going to see him this weekend. Oh how broody will I be!!!!

Lucy I am trying to envy you living in spain with your open space and wrm weather but I just can't

Fgs, have you tried herbal remedies for homone imbalance?

I have accepted the cyber party invite
Only 15 days till Ben is a year old!!!!

Elibean · 15/11/2007 13:05

Wah, Lucy, he's walking? Congrats and , I know my dds are not early walkers, but the very idea makes them seem so....big! I hate stairs too, but apparently they keep you young and agile beyond any other kind of exercise. Almost.

WB, what are we going to do with our smallest LOs on the flight then? Drug 'em, or employ couple of air-nannies? Jabber, put in your orders for Earl Grey tea or M&S underwear, we're a-planning...

I am not on FB, except as a couple of people's friend, so how do I find out about the baby event? Just over a week till M's first birthday, omg...interestingly, I'm soooo happy she's going to be one. Didn't feel like that with dd1

lucy5 · 15/11/2007 14:02

He's done everything more quickly than dd, it's all a bit of a shocker really. I don't know where this year has gone!

jabberwocky · 15/11/2007 14:12

Come one, come all

I'll have to have someone hold my hand through the facebook thing too Ds2 is one next Thursday, also Thanksgiving Day. The turkey-shaped cake pan has arrived, lol. Dh was slightly bemused at the idea...

lucy, the house does sound lovely but no, not very child friendly!
