Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

AQ, I'm back to work properly on Friday. Eek!

Indith, I found pushing DD1 into the breast when she started biting really effective.

I'm a bit worried about DD1 at the moment, as she seems to be permanently under the weather. She's had colds, a sickness bug, a mysterious rash, and now she's ever so pale and tired-looking. She's off her food as well - which isn't remotely unusual. I just want her to sleep for 24 hours and then eat, eat, eat.

DD2 on the other hand is the picture of health, and is delighting in her ability to move around at will. She is just gorgeous when she stands up at the coffee table and waves and shouts 'helloo dada'.

jabberwocky · 18/11/2007 03:04

eli, quite timely. I got home today and ds2 has a bruise on his little cheekbone the first of many to come, I'm afraid.

Indith, I would just take ds2 off when he bit and say, "No more" He's gotten much better but still takes the occasional nip.

Oh, and congrats to baby FGS! Pretty soon they'll all be racing around

Okay, I've tentatively joined/posted on FB but I don't think I can keep up with the funwall part. So, don't think I'm rude if I don't reply, please

btw, magnolia, you look quite like you could be a Bond-woman! (you know, 007 and all that) How do you do it with 5 kids?? I am so

Indith · 19/11/2007 13:39

Well earlier today I thought I was going to come on here and post a very happy 'he slept all night long' post but I have reconsidered.

He did sleep all night long. From 7pm til gone 8am. He then slept for 2 hours after going to the supermarket. He is asleep again now and has been for around an hour. Between naps he has mostly been lying on the floor cuddling his dou dou.

Not a well boy methinks.

Thanks for the biting suggestions, shall commence battle although I'm unsure of how well it will work since it mainly seems to be to do with the way he latches on and I don't know how ot change his latch after 10 months of feeding

Thank you AQ. I must make more of an effort to go to groups. I just started feeling quite out of place at bumps and babies with ds getting older and more mobile and I've not found anywhere else I feel comfortable at yet.

Eli, I've sent you a request to join the December Group on Facebook.

Hi Bebespain

Jabber, you are a fox! And it's nice to put a face to the name at last.

I never seem to have time to look at MN or FB for more than about 5 minutes every few days. I also have to check my e-mails. What am I doing wrong?

bebespain · 19/11/2007 14:20

Hi all, thanks again for the "welcomes"!

Sorry to hear about the conjunctivitis, Indith, that´s not nice, hope it sorts otself out soon...

Still wondering why I´m soo thirsty...

Speaking of biting, my LO gave me a real whopper of a bite this morning and I yelped out without thinking. I obviously scared him half to death as boy did he cry Fortunately he doesn´t do it that often.

He´s so clingy at the mo and I literally cannot leave the room. He doesn´t like his playpen one bit even though its very roomy, my DH knocked it together with a couple of wood panels and is nce and spacious...oops is crying now

Off to the P.O to collect a cardy I won on eBay...am so excited the clothes here in Spain aren´t really my cup of tea, not to mention size These Spanish ladies are soo tiny!

Elibean · 19/11/2007 14:29

Thanks, Castles

Indith, hope your ds doens't have what my dd has - which basically is non-stop vomiting and a LOT of dou-dous piling up by the washing machine

Elibean · 19/11/2007 14:30

Staving off A&E by a whisker atm, giving Diarolyte and water every 20 mins or so.

Does anyone know how long these vomity, non-feverish, bugs can last? Someone mentioned FIVE days to me - nooooooooo

FrostyGlassSlipper · 19/11/2007 15:20

Indith - I always hated mother and toddler groups with DD1. We went to swimming 'lessons' when she turned 1 and I got to know some of the mums through that. Also when they start walking something like tumble tots is quite a good way for them to meet other kids/you meet mums but without the prssure of 'having' to talk to them iykwim

FrostyGlassSlipper · 19/11/2007 15:33

Eli - hope she picks up soon ((hugs))

Indith · 19/11/2007 16:07

Oh dear Eli, not nice!

We went out for a walk after he woke up from nap number 2 and he remained awake the whole time. Now romping around on the floor and seems quite happy. Maybe he thought the weather was horrible and just needed to get out and clear his head too but

Ah....he has just worked out how to use sticky tape............

Thanks castles

eli, here's hoping you don't have 5 days of this in the works.

bebespain, another clingy baby here. Ds1 really didn't do this so it's kind of a shock to have one who wants to be held constantly. Very hard to get anything done with a 20 pounder on my hip. Even in a sling it's doing my back in.

re - thirst, are you also urinating and/or eating more than usual? Did you have any issues with your blood sugar when pregnant? Otherwise, is your ds nursing more now that he's bigger? I'm having a heck of a time cutting down on ds2's feeds. Here ds1 refused the breast early on and ds2 can't stop

babypowder · 19/11/2007 17:23

And another clingy baby! It's been a nightmare today as she wanted constant BF and cuddles. What's she going to do when she's a nursery all day? (She'll be so distracted by having loads of new friends and toys to play with that she won't even notice I'm not there. D'oh)

Eli, I can't believe the sickness bug has invaded your house. You nust be fed up.

Indith, glad DS is feeling fine. I quite fancied a day curled up under a duvet too

Elibean · 19/11/2007 18:40

Thank you, I feel all hugged and un-alone, thank god for you lot (sick bugs are very isolating in RL ).

I think....I sort of dare to almost think...dd2 has turned the corner: she ate two rice cakes, drank 60 mls of milk, crawled a bit, and hardly threw up at all. So I gave her a heady mix of water with Ranitidine, Calpol and Diarolyte and put her to bed....

Can you believe, with a nearly 4 yr old dd, this is the very first sick bug I've met? No longer a sick virgin, me.

Have to admit I was very stressed, then recognized I was probably adding last year's ghosts of HDU into the mix of sleeplessness and worry, and left dd2 with dh while I took dd1 out for lunch after nursery. Felt a LOT better and less overwhelmed, and dd1 less grumpy!

Elibean · 19/11/2007 18:41

Indith, so glad ds picked up - as in, felt better, not as in discovered sellotape. Washing dou-dous palls after a while

accessorizewithbabysick · 19/11/2007 19:40

Ohhh, eli, hope she gets well soon 'staving off a&E' does not sound good!
indith, totally with you about the latch thing, ds2 never had a good latch and that was an issue cos he got lazy now and then & then the biting. What about going back to lying down/in the bath etc, that just shifts the position a little so they have to do it properly iyswim! Mother & toddler groups are often really hard to 'get into' - something with more of a structure much easier cos then you don't have to talk if you don't want to. What about madacademy.com, I just got a flyer about it. Or I do a music class and ds2 loves it! Now he's crawling there are more options. Netmums might show classes near you (although mumsnet have a local thing now too).
hugs for clingy/sick babies and tired mummies. Milo and a teacake is prescribed.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 19/11/2007 22:25

I've added more pictures on FB

lucy5 · 19/11/2007 22:30

Eli sorry to hear about the bug, it seems neverending doesn't it? Hope alls well soon.

I have a little biter too, he actually bites my nipples for fun! I fed dd for 17 months and she never bit me once. i can already see that ds is going to be a little monkey.

bebespain · 19/11/2007 22:38

Here´s to clingy babies, jabberwocky and babyp...here´s to a less cling dayy tomorrow

My what a day we had today, my back too was in bits as I spent most of the afternoon pacing the lounge with DS in my arms. Tried a trip outside for some relief but it started raining...what´s that saying about the rain in Spain...well anyway had to go back home pronto.

I should really go to bed but just can´t switch off and I´ll really regret it at 4am...

bebespain · 19/11/2007 22:40

Hi Lucy followed by big wave

lucy5 · 19/11/2007 22:47

Hola! I should be in bed too, but I like just doing my own thing for a bit

Elibean · 20/11/2007 14:19
castlesintheair · 20/11/2007 16:51

Sorry to hear you all have another bug Eli. Didn't you just have one, or am I thinking of someone else? Someone said viruses last 10 days with a baby. Don't know if that's true or not.

If you log into FB you should have the invite in your profile. I don't always get e-mail notifications or sometimes they are quite late.

DH bought a heater for DD2's room at the weekend - the final attempt to solve the multiple night/early morning wakings - and HEY PRESTO! sleeping through 'til 7am. Long may it last.

jabberwocky · 20/11/2007 18:48

Congrats on the sleeping thru, castles! DS2 had one of his best nights ever a couple of nights ago, followed the next night by one of his absolute worst I'm going to make sure he's got very warm jammies on and see if that makes a difference.

eli, do you ever feel like erecting a plastic bubble over the house for the winter?

Indith · 20/11/2007 19:52

2 nights in a row!

OP posts:
Elibean · 20/11/2007 20:00

Jabber, yes

Castles, yes - twas us. We've been virus free, as a family (apart from runny noses, which I don't count) for about 4 days since mid September. Next winter, we had better not get a single bug - I expect our immune systems to be unbeatable. I will try and log on to FB, have vague feeling I set up a profile page?? Can't remember!

Hurrah for the warm sleeping babes...I've noticed that makes a difference, too. Problem with dd's room is, the airing cupboard is in it, so its v warm during the day/evening then gets cold at night when hot water tank cools down.

She's soo easy to put to bed atm, not surprisingly - and on the mend, though threw up tonight again. dh gone to work groaning, but dd1 and I still holding firm!
