Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

MyOtherPersonalityIsTheSaneOne · 11/02/2008 22:40

DD3 can't reach hers (purposefully, so the ones with flaps in stay intact), she points and says something obscure. Her favourite is 'Calm down Boris!', which we keep in a cupboard or she wants it read to her ten times a day

jabberwocky · 12/02/2008 12:52

I've been noticing some white hairs too! It's funny, for years I dyed my hair to look more red, then when pg with ds1 I let it go back to natural color. A friend said "OMG, I would never bother with it until I had to" Now I guess that day has come...

DS2 looks like he is finally getting more teeth. I see two little buds and he is drooling a little but no other symptoms yet.

FGS, ds2 has taken a fair amount of tumbles but I always feel guilty aobut it. Keep telling myself it's impossible to catch him every time. I'm sure you're right about the fever. I'm dreading it when we have to get our measles part.

Ds2 loves Blue Hat Green Hat. We do have to keep him at board books. He totally destroyed the No David book that was ds1's favorite when he was a toddler. I really hated that. Should have kept it put up.

castles, will definitely email you. We are headed out to occupational therapy today and I think we are going to start working on some of his uber-picky eating issues. Things are fast and furious at the jabber house these days getting ready for the move. Can't wait to do it,though. the boys are going to have their own playroom rather than the living room!!

Sorry to hear about the car, bp

accessorizequeen · 12/02/2008 15:37

ds2 only seems to like bath books for some reason, he plays 'properly' with those but just flicks so fast through the others there's no point, doesn't even like flaps that much. I'll keep on trying. We have blue hat green hat too! I love that one. In fact all hers are great.
Still at home with eye infection, I look chinese with great puffy eye lids and bags under my eyes. Got another set of drops in addition to the 2 I've tried from dr this morn but ds2 napping all afternooon so can't go get them. We're meant to see thomas and his friends on Friday, I hope I"m better for it, we planned it months ago.
Jabber, separate playroom sounds fab. We're using our spare room as one, but now no.3 is coming I guess it'll be a bedroom once more.

castlesintheair · 12/02/2008 16:14

We have a playroom which seems to be used as an enormous cupboard and every other room in the house is their playground and hence full of their crap

jabberwocky · 12/02/2008 18:19

Was just wondering if you might need steroid drops, AQ. I'll bet that's what they added. If so, you should feel much better quickly

babypowder · 12/02/2008 18:19

Ooh - look what I off. OK, it was silly - I should have thought before I typed. But honestly - when did a lovely organic sausage, 98% meat, low in salt, etc become evil?

babypowder · 12/02/2008 18:20

That should read kicked off

Olihan · 12/02/2008 18:25

Blimey, BP. People do get their knickers in the strangest of knots, don't they? FWIW, my dcs always eat in the car - it's the only way to keep the little blighters darlings quiet. Never occured to me about choking [far too casual mummy].

babypowder · 12/02/2008 18:36

I shudder to think of the number of children I could have killed by allowing them to eat in the car - DSD1 & 2, DD1, any number of small friends. Oops.

(I might just sneak a babybel and a bit of bread in for DD2. Don't tell anyone)

FunkyGlassSlipper · 12/02/2008 18:49

DD2 feeling very sorry for herself and still has high temp

DD1 has been a star and entertained herself most of day. promise of pancake with chocolate sauce helped.

BP - I give DD2 humzinger fruit bars in the car, and also rice cakes and baby bisuits. Not very filling but they fill a void.

Indith · 12/02/2008 20:04

Oh god I've fed ds in the car plenty of times! Keeps him occupied I sat beside him though.

Have bf in the car too, was very impressed that I managed to get my rather diminutive norkage to dangle far enough into the carseat

Am still very impressed/ at communicative children. Ds will collapse into giggles at peekabo, share his biscuits very fairly with mummy (and is very pushy about it, if I don't take a bite he will force it into my mouth), crawl up to me and stare at me until I share my toast but that is it. He loves to pull all his books off the shelf and look at them but never brings them to me or point at them to be read. He never points to anything he wants just goes and gets it. He doesn't respond to questions at all. All I have is the same old babble. I did catch him making a brum brum noise pushing his truck the other day though so there is some progress! Maybe he is just waiting til he has everything sorted. Am looking forward to the day we get a mama or dada tossed in the right direction though!

accessorizequeen · 12/02/2008 20:08

Actually, I don't think I've given ds2 a sausage, what an excellent idea. How could he choke on it?? Junk food indeed (and what is babybel junk food, great way to give them full fat cheese imo, the boys love 'em but I can't buy them as dp and I scoff them all). Agree with FGS about ricecakes, incredibly filling and don't make that much mess. I did so like it when I could hand a sandwich to ds1 and not worry about it! Although would she be alright if you cut a ham sandwich say with a cookie cutter, they're quite compressed then? I was going to try that for lunch tomorrow with both ds's as I know I'll have no energy for anything else.
Jabber, I don't know if they're steroid drops, but dp's had to go get them for me as my local pharmacy was out. I've just had enough of it now, so fed up putting the eye drops in feels like sandpaper on my eyeballs. Going off to bed as soon as he gets back.
Poor little fgs dd. But what about you funky?

jabberwocky · 12/02/2008 23:44

Oh, well, once ds2 was forward facing I have given him things like rice cakes in the car if we're not on the interstate. And I have no qualms about a sippy cup although he mostly winds up tossing it on the floor.

jabberwocky · 12/02/2008 23:47

Lol, I had this page up for so long before I posted - didn't know rice cakes had already been discussed Makes me look a bit thick, doesn't it?

jabberwocky · 13/02/2008 02:20

Indith, keep meaning to mention that ds2 is not saying much at all either. Babbles quite a bit but totally different from ds1. I may have to dust off my BAby Signs book

On the plus side, He SLEPT THRU last night A few more nights of that and I might feel human again. I should have been better today, really. Had one of those days where you get them in bed adn think "wow, I was a crap mother today" I just didn't seem to have any patience with either of them. And poor little ds2 had one of his most bonky days ever. He's got at least 3 places on his forehead from klutzing around. I'm just so tired and frustrated. It seems like all day I'm trying to keep him from climbing on the furniture. I have yet to find a place for the dining room chairs that keeps them accessible for meals and away from him.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 13/02/2008 08:48

Yay for babyjabber sleeping through!

DD2 still has a temp.

I've decided to give her 3 more Fridays with the childminder but if she still isnt settling I'm going to stop and see if my friend who has her on Mondays (who she does settle with) will have her on VFridays too.

I also got our company year end books finished last night so can send them to the accountant. Doesnt sound much but makes me feel much better!

AQ - I'm fine. Just trying to juggle too many things at once I think. I honestly think when the Spring sun comes I will feel much better. I should get one of those sun lamps but only ever realise I've been so miserable through the winter in about February

accessorizequeen · 13/02/2008 09:27

FGS, just having 2 kids imo is enough for anyone and you do quite a lot on top of that - what can you give up?

jabber, I started on predsol last night and I think finally I'm looking better. I'm absolutely chocka with cold (can't take sudafed) but if I didn't look like a zombie I'd feel human again. Large amounts of choccie last night My ds isn't talking much either (or walking ) but I'm not worried, it sounds like talking! Do you mean he climbs up on chairs and then falls down jabber? ds2 loving that too although he hasn't figured out dining chairs yet. I pull the cushions out of the sofa so he can climb up and down to his heart's content.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 13/02/2008 09:40

AQ - I know I do too much. I'm on DDs pre-school committee and we're trying to recruit new people so I'm handling all of that which is a pain but I should finish my year in May so that isnt too long.

I cant drop working for DHs business though! Our main problem is that as he works for himself we rarely take a break. We have two new staff who've started this week though so I'm hoping that will help DH feel he can take a break, which will mean I get one too. I have suggested he collects some holiday brochures this week. We had been thinking about Disneyland Paris as DD loved it last time we went but I think it will be too much hard work so we may go for a beach break instead

We are running out of room on this thread. Can someone think of a suitably amusing title?

Indith · 13/02/2008 10:40

Yay for baby jabber!

I know just what you mean about bumpy days, ds sometimes has those days where he just can't seem to keep his balance at all. He also has a bruise on one foot from dropping where he pulled my laptop onto it and the nail on his big toe of the other foot is black from dropping a bowl onto it. Thankfully he hasn't mastered climbing onto things yet, probably limited by my having throws on the sofas so if he tries he just gets an armful of throw.

Chocolate is good AQ. I just accidently bought 2 bars of green and blacks on offer in Waitrose. Dp going away Thursday til Saturday (and insists he will be playing rugby on Saturday afternoon too...erm dp darling you do remember how many essays I have to write don't you? ) so chocolate will be eaten

FGS would you like my accounts now you are done with yours? Still not had the chance to go back and totally finsh off the Rainbow ones and I MUST do it. Friday. I WILL do them on Friday. Seriously though sounds like a good holiday is needed, beach sounds fab

Oh and almost forgot, AQ have you had a chat to a chemist about cold stuff as mine found me a spray decongestant you could use while bf as it acts locally, maybe you can use similar while pg?

castlesintheair · 13/02/2008 12:43

I always give my children food in the car. One of DD1's friends got in the back yesterday and said "ooh, isn't it dirty" I drove to Southern Germany with the DCs a couple of years ago and DS ate 2 packets of those really large rice cakes. Or so I thought: when I got out of the car I found them all on the floor

FunkyGlassSlipper · 13/02/2008 16:23

Woooah. DD2 has had a temp of 40.5 C this afternoon. Timed perfectly with the measles reaction to the MMR, she's had a temp since Monday afternoon. Nurofen has got it down for now. Thankfully in herself she's fine....
Looks like we wont be trying some extra settling in time with the childminder tomorrow

jabberwocky · 13/02/2008 19:08

FGS, you are truly amazing! Here's hoping I get my books sorted out soon. The company ones are due in March - eek! Even though I'm the whole company it still overwhelms me filling out all the forms.

Ds2 did wake once last night. I waited about 20 minutes but he didn't seem to self-soothe. so, when he escalated a bit I went in and he was down in less than 10 minutes. I, however, was awake for over 2 hours Oh, well, baby steps...

I think he may be cutting 3 or 4 teeth at once too There's definitely 3 little buds showing.

Here's hoping everyone starts feeling better. Poor baby FGS, I think ds1's fever lasted several days with the rubella vax.

AQ, yes, that's the drop I was thinking of. You should start feeling much better and look normal by tomorrow I should think.

accessorizequeen · 13/02/2008 19:12

Indith, well the g&b should do for thurs night, but what about Friday ? AQ toddles off to investigate supply....
Jabber, soooo much better, 3 drops of predsol did the job. I just look like half a vampire now, and ended up having a nice morning with the kids in town at the library. Bought ds2 his first shoes to encourage some movement! Unfortunately now sinusitis is even worse, I so don't want to face work tomorrow, I want to stay in bed!!
FGS, hope dd's temp stays manageable, poor mite.

jabberwocky · 13/02/2008 19:30

I'm glad you feel better! The only eye infection I've had since being an adult came on a few days before I delivered ds2. I looked like I was straight out of a horror film so it sounds like we had the same thing. Prednisone was the only drug that made any difference. I'm assuming they are going to taper you off of it fairly quickly since you are pregnant?

Oh, and the climbing. It's unbelievable. If the dining room chairs are simply pushed back from the table he will still find a way to get on top of the table from them. If they are turned around he climbs on them and starts to rock back and forth. Zips up the stairs the instant someone leaves the hall door open and just generally wears me to a frazzle...

accessorizequeen · 14/02/2008 09:18

I just can't imagine ds2 being able to or wanting to do that, he's soooo lazy (in a nice way) likes nothing better than to lie back on a cushion and grin happily. Could you put a stairgate on the dining room?
You're right, he said to reduce it after a couple of days, the redness is mostly gone now but I am so full of head cold and my throat hurts I'm off work again anyway. Totally forgot until dp came home yesterday that I was pg
