hello, we're over here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
justbeme · 30/10/2007 16:56

well Foxy - L is 16 weeks today 10/7) - and last week was 12lb 14.5 ozs. so wasnt Eve born later??

i feel bad as i hadnt had her weighed since 7 weeks and shed dropped down centiles - but HV just said "dont worry she looks healthy enough"

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 16:59

Aw foxy, have a {{{{{hug}}}}}.

Can you increase the frequency of her feeds? One sided feeding to make sure she is getting lots of hindmilk? Fenugreek? I'm sure you've been through all of this with your HV though. Talk to the NCT if you haven't already.

dogtanian · 30/10/2007 17:01

Afternoon everyone!

Foxy, sorry your dd is falling down the centiles, no advice really, but you are NOT a failure! Keep up the good work, you are fab.

Not caught up yet, but hope everyone else is well x

justbeme · 30/10/2007 17:03

actually foxy - l is now between 25-50 centile - so somethings not right here????

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 17:04

DD is still gaining about 5-6 ozs a week.

I think it's the dropping the centiles that is the worrying thing LMN, not the actual weight.

sorry I made you cry foxy

gotta shoot and sort out tea/a feed for my two. DD has only fed three times since 5am and is looking very peaky and sleeping lots. I'm a bit worried about it as she refused a feed earlier this afternoon.

Sputnik · 30/10/2007 17:06

Elsbells I really sympathise, I hate those situations, you feel really self concious but probably a lot of people were just thinking "poor woman".

Foxy, what are you going to do? Whatever happens you are not a failure, coping with 4 must be so hard, i have problems with 2.

Fury, fb tells me they're ironing out problems with babybook, it's down for now.

foxystein · 30/10/2007 17:15

Thanks everyone, have taken your advice Daisy and started a thread calling the bf gurus to help!

She was 2 weeks late, so is the whole centile thing skewed anyway?

now she is feeding, but i need to get tea on for the others. I think this contributes. someone always needs feeding/bottom wiping/refereeing to do so I end up stopping her feed when she takes a breather.

justbeme · 30/10/2007 17:17

foxy i would think that the centiles are based on her actual birth date - some one??

so eve isnt 16 weeks is she??

and tell me what 12.5lb is in metric and i'll look at my red book and see if i agree.

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 17:21

Not sure about the centiles, but I know DD's weight is plotted at actual age - 5 weeks. But that probably doesn't help, sorry!

Sputnik · 30/10/2007 17:25

5.7kg Foxy

justbeme · 30/10/2007 17:26

what do you mean Jammy - "at actual age - 5 weeks?"

I know she was early?

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 17:31

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. Because she was 5 (well 4.5, near enough I guess) weeks early, they adjust her age to account for this when they plot it. So for example, if she I had taken her today to be weighed they would have plotted her weight as if she was 15 weeks instead of 20 weeks. Last time she was weighed this put her on the 75 centile, but if they'd plotted it on the actual weeks since her birth date it would have been close to the 25 centile.

She was 4.4 at birth and is 5.68 now.

Better go and feed my other buggers xx

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 17:32

sorry for double post

justbeme · 30/10/2007 17:33

oh ok

Thanks Sputnik
so looking at my red book - IF Eve is 16 weeks (Foxy hasnt confirmed her date of birth to me yet) - then that makes her on the 25th centile.

FOXY

foxystein · 30/10/2007 17:34

she was born on 12th July

fairyfay · 30/10/2007 18:03

sorry everyone has had rubbish days. Same here I'm afriad. Nothing specific, just fractious children

justbeme · 30/10/2007 18:48

oh - i lost a message somewhere...
i was saying that makes Eve on/around the 25th centile, so thats not so bad is it??

i cant believe she was only born 2 days after L, so she'll be 16 weeks in 2 days time.

so does anyone reckon that i should be waking L up in the night for a feed - some one said she shouldnt be sleeping for 12-14hrs without a feed at this age??

annobal · 30/10/2007 19:12

Foxy, I'm so sorry your visit to clinic wasn't better. You are such a wonderful and devoted mother with very lovely (and well behaved ) children, please don't feel like a failure.

If you're interested, the homeopathic remedies to support breastmilk/bf are urtica urens (30c potency) - take 3 times a day at feeds when you feel your are at your lowest. If that doesn't work, lac defloratum, 30c potency and same as above. You can get urtica at Neal's Yard.

JBM, personally i wouldn't wake baby sleeping through the night. if you are worried, can you dream feed before you go to bed?

andiem · 30/10/2007 19:14

evening all

foxy you are doing a fab job if I were you i would stop the weighing if she is alert and developing normally then I wouldn't worry too much. If you look at the growth charts on kellymom here she looks to be ok to me she may just be small and settling into her weight centile charts are the work of the devil

jbm no you don't need to wake her if she is happy that is fine my lo was sleeping thrpugh no more unfortunately

hope everyone else is ok quick visit as need to have bath and hairwash as bath is being removed for tiling tonight for 2 days aagh stinky woman coming on

BadZelda · 30/10/2007 19:16
