hello, we're over here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 12:48

LOL sputnik...my highlight so far has been doing the washing!

Am off to clinic soon to get my little bruiser weighed. Her thighs are now so chubby that her nappy wraps leave nasty red weals. If I loosen them off any they leak all over the place.

She is very grumpy since she woke up, but it's mainly frustration at not getting things she wants or being able to roll over; she's nearly there, but not quite!

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 12:49

Jammy, I think you are just so bowled over by this little being, that you don't see things like that till later. She does look an alarming colour though!

bumperlicious · 30/10/2007 13:00

Hi all

Fury I didn't get any message from FB?

Arrggghhhh I'm getting so pissed off at DD and this dummy lark, she has just cried for the past 20 mins while I ate my lunch and stopped every 30 second to put the fucking thing back in her mouth. It's really frustrating me! Still crying now and I am pretending I can't hear her .

LMN that's shit about your delivery I would write and complain and demand the delivery charge back. What if you were pg, or feeding DD or something. Fuckers, I'd tell em to fuck off.

Hmmm, can you tell I am in a grumpy mood.

Shutupshutupshutup (to DD not you guys).

bumperlicious · 30/10/2007 13:06

god, if i've got this little patience with a baby how am i ever going to manage a toddler.

i feel terrible now, i've picked her up and she all happy and smiley. she just wanted a cuddle and i was just getting cross with her

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 13:16

Blimey Bumper - we all feel like that sometimes....don't beat yourself up about it

I would have love to have told them to poke it when they turned up this morning, but what choice did I have? £40 and they travelled 20 miles down the road then made me help ...oh well, its here now

Right off to make coronation chicken for lunches for the rest of the week..mmmmm

Sputnik · 30/10/2007 13:43

Don't stress Bumper, you have to et your lunch after all

bumperlicious · 30/10/2007 13:51

I know, but the reaction in my head is so...vicious I think it's a hunger thing. I'm like a bear with a sore head if I haven't eaten.

Elsbells · 30/10/2007 13:55

I think I am the only here but hi to anyone else that is lurking....good to see that everyone is just about coping, I feel that I am very close to a meltdown.

My DS (I really want to take the 'darling' out of that acronym right now) is a beast lately. He threw the biggest tantrum at the surgery today. Threw himself on the floor between the waiting area and the reception while I was holding on to DD who decided then to spit up large amounts of milk.

Of course the surgery was full and people just stared and a few shot me shocked looks. I had to giggle and just brush it off w/a "Oh, he's 2...you know what they are like" comment.

Really I wanted to run away.
To a place on my own, take a hot bath and sleep.

If only

foxystein · 30/10/2007 14:13

Am lurking Els.

Sorry to hear things are less than perfect. I'd like time to perform basic bodily functions/ablutions. Even expressing has gone out of the window as I don't have time in the morning. Ironically, I'm off to get lo weighed, so I will be able to beat myself up for poor weight gain good and proper.

Anyway, when you were at GOS, did you perchance come by a consultant called Mr Duffy?

bumperlicious · 30/10/2007 15:16

Els I know how you feel about wanting to run away. dh took dd to MIL for the day on friday and for the first time I though "you know it won't be so bad when i have to go back to work"

Foxy, any idea why LO is slow to gain weight? Are they badgering you to "top up"?

justbeme · 30/10/2007 15:42

Hi
Fury I burped sullivan, but FB crashed on me as well.

Got my inflatable nursing cushion off Ebay today - wished i'd had it for the last 15 weeks - brill! no more stiff neck/achey arms!

LMN so was it Ikea that delivered today? if so you should complain - like someone said what if you were pregnant (!!!!!)

HellHathNoFury · 30/10/2007 16:07

damn FB!
Mine worked ok!

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 16:07

Hi JBM - no it was a local company that delivered today - IKEA bringing the rest of the kitchen on the 9th (didn't like their worktops so got them locally). When I rung I was told I'd have to help and I was so that I never thought to say anything.....and when I tried to protest that's when they said well if you don't help, it stays on the lorry! If it was a item I could've got anywhere else, I would have said my bit.....I hate biting my lip....would much rather have my say and let someone else have all that money!!

My DD got a pink Hat today along with 2 MC bibs and 2 MC vests ...not me I hasten to add....

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 16:17

afternoon all.

els....I know exactly what you mean about running away. I feel like that on a daily basis

bumper....eat please sweetie (and that's an order!!). I get exactly the same if I haven't eaten enough. I find keeping snacky things to hand like dried fruit and nuts is the best way forward...good for instant blood sugar boost, but doesn't msake you crash when you come down from it like sweets and biccies.

foxy, hope the weigh in went OK. Is she just following a lower centile or is not gaining as well as she was? I hope things are OK.

I went to the clinic this afternoon. they give out tickets like at the deli cpounter, and I was dismayed to see that I was No 19 on the list and they were only on No 3 when I got there. They only had 2 HVs on, plus a trainee so everything was taking bloody ages. I got there at 1:35 and at 2:50 I asked for my red book back as I had todo the school run. the lady who does the weighing fitted me in quickly at that point, but I had to run all the way to school again (20 mins uphill all the way). I don't know why I go...it pisses me off every time!

Anyway...DD is 15lbs 1oz, and is still between the 25th and 50th centiles. I wanted to talk to a HV about weaning, but it'll need to wait till Monday.

justbeme · 30/10/2007 16:37

cant you get dd weighed anywhere else daisy? we have a HV at the breastfeeding clinic just before bumps and bundles, so im gonna get L weighed there as its so impersonnel at the drs.

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 16:38

LMN, on the football front I want DD to have some Norwich (my home town) pyjamas and a dress but DH not keen.

Saw the primary school kids coming out as we walked home from Sainsburys. Looking at them with their Bratz bags, I don't want DD to grow up!

foxystein · 30/10/2007 16:39

dropped further. now on 9th. utterly gutted.

Finally the HV suggested introducing a bottle of formula. And didn't do so lightly. We've been monitoring her for weeks and weeks.

The logic in my head says 'fine'. my maternal instinct says 'failure'.

milkyJammy · 30/10/2007 16:40

Aw Foxy, not a failure! Wish I knew the answer for you though.

justbeme · 30/10/2007 16:43

oh Foxy - that you feel bad. you've done really well to even still be bf'ing.
how old is she now and how much does she weigh?

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 16:47

Foxy, not a failure at all, don't think like that....that way madness lies. Anyone who is as lovely as you are, who obviously dotes on her kids and has chosen to have four of the little beggars angels , is not a failure by any stretch of the imagination.

I wish I had some advice for you....have you looked up the archive on here as there is lots on top ups and losing weight etc, or spoken to any of the BF ladies (tiktok, hunker, moondog to name but a few). tiktok is and NCT BF counsellor and Moondog is with the ABM. they have been very helpful to me over the last few months.

Have you called the NCT/ABM at all? The helpline numbers are on hunkermunkers profile I believe.

Keep positive, you are doing a FAB job

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 16:52

oh foxy....what centile did she start on (mine on the 9th)...you're certainly not a failure...from what you've said you've done loads to try and improve...so are you going to top up?

Have you heard from the hospital btw about your complaint?

Daisy for you re HV....we have to have appointments in our clinic...I don't bother any more...she was weighed when she had jabs - do I need to go back? They were very woolly about it at my clinic - "here if you need us" sort of attitude (probably followed by "don't bother if you're ok" )

MJ - just buy the Norwich stuff....DH did .....does he support someone else? Easy for us, cos I don't support anyone or anything to do with rugby or footie (or cricket, or golf.....)

foxystein · 30/10/2007 16:52

16 weeks and 12.5 lbs. Only one pound in 6 weeks. Haven't had a problem before, and I'm such a militant breastfeeder I just won't give up. Of course I'm putting pressure on myself as in my head anything but bf'ing isn't an option.

but its not about me. its my lo's health which is more important than my high expectations of myself. no logic to feeling like this.

foxystein · 30/10/2007 16:55

LMN, the 99th I think.

Thanks everyone, you are all lovely, and there for us when we need you . thank you

Daisy - you made me cry. you bugger

LittleMissNorty · 30/10/2007 16:55

But I thought weight gain did slow down as they got older? My DD is 6 weeks older and only about 3lb heavier (and yours Daisy?)....is that not a good weight? Sorry to sound so ignorant but are they worrying you un-necessarily?
