Try ice lollies EAH. Apparently it takes about 48 hour for proper dehydration to kick in...

katwith3kittens · 27/10/2007 16:18

Aaaah poor Ellie

I'd leave her to sleep for as long as she wants, it may be her way of fighting it off.

Ice lollies is a really good idea, and just regular litle sips of water.

Hope this bug stays down south !

eandh · 27/10/2007 16:19

cheers will try that as have home made ones in freezer (if she wakes up!) how long does the sickness last for?

eandh · 27/10/2007 16:19

but wilkie and laughalot are up north so think they threw it down south

WeeWitchyWilkie · 27/10/2007 16:21

I'm oop North Kat!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 27/10/2007 16:22

Sickness was 24 hour - general crap feeling 5 days!!

laughalot · 27/10/2007 16:24

Eah 2 weeks after lauren was born aidan had d&v for a week the sickness part lasted a few days but the d was there a whole week.We were so concerned we took him to the hospital they have a surgery there that is open on a weekend. The doctor advised that there is noting they can give for d&v but was told to stop food for at least 24hrs and give plenty of fluid as wilkie said because they wont have water/juice it is good to have ice lollies to hand. Tbh aidan hardly touched any drink as he was scared he would be sick again I did give him a few plain rich tea biscuits. He also said with regards to l catching it even though she was alot younger then it was good to put babies bottles ect in a dishwasher to steralise them. Sorry mate I know how you feel its horrid I thought I felt a bit better then I had a pizza finger for my lunch bad idea its just sitting rumbling in my tummy.

Mrs c I hate the night time as you are just layed there listening in case they are sick .

eandh · 27/10/2007 16:24

shes not been herself for a few days so thought she was coming down with something, hopefully a good sleep will make her feel better. Luckily Hattie find steh whole thing very amusing shes currently munching a malted milk and custard as her pudding (and enjoying it cause her face looks like this

MrScarRot · 27/10/2007 19:01

I took F to the gp because of the blood and he said it was usually gone in 24 hours. His was, touch wood, Alice hasn't been sick today.

I hadn't thought of ice lollies, good idea.

LL - yes, it is horrible listening out for that 'noise'. I don't much fancy any dinner, hope it's not my turn.

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 27/10/2007 20:10

God it just sounds awful! Masses of sympathy for you all x
Kw3 - I'm with you, hoping it doesn't come up north - as opposed to oop north, which is south to us But you can be my early warning system: if it reaches you in Newcastle I'm locking the door and not going out for at least a fortnight!!
Dammit, sounds like ds2 is fighting sleep again - that's heading for 48 hours! He is totally on baby speed. And he keeps refusing bmilk.

RGEEnie · 28/10/2007 18:04

Seems like a quiet day today. Hope you all had lovely weekends.
I've had a really hectic week so am now winding down with a beer and trying to avoid all your D&V bugs. Hope all you poorly people get well soon.

Dsis and three kids eventually arrived on Thurs, and we had a lovely couple of days. Went to il's yesterday, and been out and about today.
The hour this morning wasn't as bad as I expected as lo woke up at 5.50 new time.
Nothing much to say (2H - I'm with you today!).

Shimmer no idea on bankers draft. Think po would be easier.
Vino any house news?

Hmm..don 't like this new MN look . Off to change it now.

WeeWitchyWilkie · 28/10/2007 20:25

Just to let you know I had a text from EAH. E has a nasty UTI hence vomiting. They were keeping her in on a drip for a while but have given her ABs and she was getting better. Haven't heard since though.

MrScarRot · 28/10/2007 22:59

Poor little Ellie. Hope she gets better soon, EAH.

DD is a lot better today, she got up late morning and had been in bed since friday tea-time so it was obviously a nasty bug. It's her birthday on Saturday so at least it's out of the way.

WeeWitchyWilkie · 29/10/2007 05:59

Stupid pissing clocks back - have been up since 5am despite putting him to bed at his usual time (an hour later old time)

EAH - how's E?

eandh · 29/10/2007 07:29

we were up at 5am too but thats dh fault for making upstairs look like blackpool illuminations turning all the lights on.

Ellie is getting better ta - got home from hospital mid afternoon she has a nasty UTI whoich caused her temp to shoot up(39.4) and that was causing her to be sick. She had to stay in for 6 hours on obs and have a bag of saline as she was dehydrated but she started improving about 1.5hours after 1st lot of anti b's and the saline. We have to try and get her to drink 5oz of fluid every hour between 8am and 5pm but it is hard as shes not a big drinker, DH bought her a new dora beaker with a straw to encourage her. I have to take a wee sample to Drs today and tomorrow and then they'll let me know if thy want more. It was all a bit of a wirlwind as phoned nhs direct at 8.15am gave her symptons and the fact she hadnt wee'd in 16 hours and was sicking all fluids back up they contacted emergnecy gp who sent us to a and e BUT when we got there they had a cubicle and the drip etc ready so it was less hanging around for ellie. They were talking about keeping her in overnight but it is maidstone hospital who have cdiff plus norovirus at the moment (its another superbug!) and I said if she had to stay we would but if there was a chnace we could come home I'd prefer that so it was agreed that as long as she does daily samples and drinks/wees we could come home. DH was at work and an hour and halfs drive away but thabkfully my mum and dad were home and had hattie so I dodnt have to occupy both of them

Right better go as it smells as if someone has filled their nappy [hhmm}

Lizzzombie · 29/10/2007 07:51

So please E is ok EAH. You poor things must have been so worried.

MrsCarot - hope your LO is better soon too.
Whats with all these nasty bugs?

Am loving the grusome names by the way!

laughalot · 29/10/2007 08:26

Eah im so pleased e is ok we were very worried yesterday and I just couldnt think of anything else but e. My dh was went to watch derby/everton match yesterday with my dad and he even text to see if she was ok , he dosent even ring if im poorly .

Well we have had a funny old weekend when I was at my mums yesterday aidan was really quiet laid on the sofa all day my mum said she had never seen him so quiet. When we came home last night he had a bath took some calpol and went straight to sleep,I have decided to keep him off school for the day but he seems fine this morning kids .

canmummy · 29/10/2007 13:42

Hi everyone - sorry I've been away so long but went away for half-term, my mum came to visit before that and to top it all my lap-top died!

Have been trying to catch up on all the posts and there are plenty! Hope all the lo's are better soon, my lo vomited loads yesterday afternoon but seems ok now.

Went to see the dietician this am about her milk allergy and got some good advice - he says we seem to be doing ok but her breastfeeds might not now be enough. He says we should consider calcium supplements for her but will review her in a few weeks. More worryingly she has gained absolutely no weight in 6 weeks ans slipped back down to 2nd centile.

Off to read some more.......

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 29/10/2007 14:31

Wow, eah, glad to hear E is feeling a bit better, hope the dora mug does the trick!
canmummy - nice to see you again.
What else have I missed? No idea - am too kanckered. ds2 caught ds1's cold and hasn't slept properly for 3 days, but always seems to wake at 5.45am, so sunday and today that's been 4.45 [bleurch emoticon]. And had a stupid stressful morning at work today. And I need chocolate....

RGEEnie · 29/10/2007 19:00

Lizzzombie · 29/10/2007 19:02

WeeWitchyWilkie · 29/10/2007 20:30

I'll pass thank you - have lost 9lb on WW!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo.

Have uploaded some gorge pics of LO we took in the park today. Hope you can see them.

EAH - glad E is getting better. I don't blame you for not staying in. Hate hospitals.

JodieG1 · 29/10/2007 20:36

Thankfully all mine are well now!!! Touch wood . It's ds1's 4th birthday today and we've had a small party with dh coming home early and my parents and grandad here. He has a party booked in a couple of weeks with some children from pre-school coming.

I still can't believe Ethan is walking, he's much better at it now as well. He loves it though and keeps trying to walk to everyone but falls after about 8 steps at the moment.

Anyone else going trick or treating on wed? We plan to, will be our first time

How's everyone been? Not that long until Christmas now either
