Shimmer · 25/10/2007 21:03

i'm so confused... i just wrote a mega long post and its disapeared and everythings changed. WTF???

WeeWitchyWilkie · 25/10/2007 21:07

EAH - your turn on Scrabble (and UD)

Lizz - just started a new game with you

MrsCarrot · 25/10/2007 21:12

Evening all.

F is very ill, he's been vomiting from last night and all through the day. Took him to the docs on advice of NHS direct as there was blood in it but he said they would only worry if it was all blood and it's just torn stomach lining as he's been sick so much. Oh, that's alright then.

I'm sure he caught it at the zoo, where he also got bitten by a horse. It was awful.

WeeWitchyWilkie · 25/10/2007 21:25

Bitten by a horse? How awful. I thought there was a risk of Ecoli from farm animals which is why you have to wash your hands with antiseptic after feeding them etc?

I hope he gets better quickly MrsC, how horrible.

MrsCarrot · 25/10/2007 21:35

Thanks, me too. There were signs everywhere saying the animals may bite but we were just near the horses and ds1 said 'look at that' and I turned round for a second and it happened. I felt awful but you don't expect a horse to put it's head through the middle of the fence and bite your baby as you glance at a cheetah.

I think he may have caught the bug there as he kept crawling out of the soft play area in the information centre and although it was carpeted, everyone is walking there in their shoes when they've been in the zoo. Of course we all washed and sanitized out hands where we should but people are walking round with their shoes and, oh, I don't know. It may not have been that but it seems weird for him to get such a bad bug when everyone else is ok. I'm so cross with myself.

He liked the marmosets though.

theUrbanDevil · 25/10/2007 21:57

oh, poor ds MrsC. the zoo should have been more vigilant! and no, you wouldn't expect a horse to put its head through the fence, especially not one who must be used to seeing lots of people!

i haven't got D&V yet

MrsCarrot · 25/10/2007 22:09

Yes, I did feel angry, but there were signs everywhere to be fair.

I am just praying that the rest of us don't get it, the house stinks of tea-tree and dc's could barely eat their dinner it was so full of garlic.

I hate sick.

Shimmer · 25/10/2007 22:21

How horrible MrsC Fingers crossed for a quick recovery for F.

So I wrote a HUUUGE post a couple of hours ago and it all disapeared... but in brief... first couple of days back at work were fab. Really enjoyed seeing people, doing new things etc, and DP had a couple of good bonding days with F Only thing bothering me is my salary still hasn't been set. They are trying to pay me lots less than when i went on maternity leave. I am doing a different job now, but thats only cos they didn't want me back in my old job part-time. Need to check up on the actual law, but i'm hoping there's something saying they can't drop my salary so much

EAH and Wilkie I was at work yesterday on Oxford Steet - you were only a few minutes away! Glad you enjoyed your baby-free shopping I go to that Primark loads, but it is always packed, so a nightmare if i've got the buggy with me.

Wnated to ask what your LOs are wearing to sleep these days?? I'm paranoid about F getting cold. He still wears a sleeping bag thing over a sleepsuit. I've got him a thicker 2.5 tog, but he always has cold hands and cheeks in the morning. I've tried putting a blacket over him as well but he seems to wriggle out of it almost immediately

MrsCarrot · 25/10/2007 22:28

Shimmer - F kicks off the covers and has cold hands sometimes. He still ends up in our bed most nights so I try and put the duvet back on him but he doesn't seem to like covers.

bunnyhunny · 25/10/2007 22:36

hello everyone - it;s been ages since I posted on here!

I just can't keep up with all of you lot! I come to check this thread (daily!) and you have all added so much I can't possibly answer to everyone and so I feel really ignorant and end up not posting anything at all..

Just to let you know I AM still about, and often lurk if I'm not posting anything, and thinking of your lo's all doing the same stuff as S

vinorouge · 25/10/2007 23:22

Uh oh not liking this new MN look. Why mess something that works I ask. Will have to change my settings too. Tomorrow will do.

Had a lovely evening at a friends tonight who is gwetting married on 3 Nov so lots of wedding talk and baby chat. Ellen curled up on the sofa in their dining room and slept as we ate and chatted. Went with another friend, DH out on a work do and has missed the last bus home so got to get a taxi.

Tomorrow off to a new soft play place with a couple of other mums and got a few bits and bobs to buy.Saturday off to a naming ceremony, Sunday meeting PILs and after that going to peak district until Thursday. Can't wait for some chilling out time with DH.

Fingers crossed re our house cos the timid girl who has already been twice is coming again on an accompanied viewing while we are away.

MrsCarrot · 25/10/2007 23:28

Is she bringing someone to accompany her into the cellar?

vinorouge · 26/10/2007 07:36

Mrs C - Miss TImid is bringing her dad so I suspect they will look at the cellar. However if its the same valuer who shows her round we shall see cos I just left her to it when she valued the house and the draft details said that I had an understairs cupboard in the kichen rather han entrance to a cellar. Anyway I have swept the cellar stairs and floor so it looks beautifully tidy.

Gonna ring up and order a carbon monoxide detector today. The man who serviced my boiler last week gave me a real slap on the wrists for not having one. 21.99 incl p&p so not bad and it can be freestanding so we'll take it with us when we move.

vinorouge · 26/10/2007 07:37

BTW now I understand why the posts didn't make sense last night cos I was reading them upside down!

Lizzzombie · 26/10/2007 08:13

Shimmer - glad 1st went ok, I am sure they are not allowed to lower your salary and change your job like that. Definately check up on it. I had to "apply" for my pt job back at Bravissimo (as they had kept my FT job open for me just in case)
Vino - Fingers crossed with the house viewing. How will you get the fresh baked bread and fresh coffee smell going if you are not there though? (is it you who lives next door to Rgee? - can she pop in and make some coffee?!)
Mrs C - OMG! Your poor little baby. Hope he is better soon. Nasty shock though.
Wilks - Have had my go. Your turn now.

I am off to Hastings today! Woo Hoo! For a day out with another local MNer. We dont have a Woolworths in Eastbourne for some weird reason so I am looking forward to getting a Woolies fix in Hastings (have a 6-9 month snowsuit to take back too)

Shimmer - DJ has been sleeping in just a vest and baby grow, but all last week I was putting a jumper on him too. And last night I put him in a growbag for the first time in ages, and I have to say that apart from waking at 4.30 for some calpol he slept the best he had in ages, so I am thinking he may have been cold for the last few weeks.
Right, off to get ready for the seaside! (a different one, not the one at the end of my road!)...I dont get out much, its quite exciting!

Oh oh, and I went to Matlan at the weekend, they are doing little Santa and Mrs Santa outfits. £6 each. There were no 9-12 month old ones though. I am so going to get one to embarrass LO with though!

£5 dress in Debenhams is a huge bargain (MrsC?) I saw a t-shirt in there this week, which was for a 6 month old, but on the front it said "Happy Birthday to me" - hmm, odd, no wonder that was in the sale!

Lizzzombie · 26/10/2007 08:14

Have you seen the ad here for Davina reading the Gruffalo tonight? (8pm Ch4)
Its my favourite book, and I read it to DJ so often I've started to remember the words during the day too! I hope she reads it as well as me!

laughalot · 26/10/2007 09:44

I feel terrible iv got the d&v now !!!!!!!!!! I woke up at 4 feeling so sick and really hot went and stood over the toilet hoping I would be sick and thought hang on it wants to come out the other end .Iv managed a cup of coffee today and thats it cant bear the thought of food, I wish my mum lived closer so she could have the kids for me.

laughalot · 26/10/2007 09:44
