My red book says it is a BF baby chart. Not getting obsessed (haven't had her weighed in weeks ) but just want to be sure she is getting enough. It's only recently that I though to up her EBM and now she guzzles that down if DH feeds her!

foxybrown · 25/09/2007 22:08

11.7 pounds. She is perfectly fine, I know that, but a little bit of me would like her to pork up a bit.

I'm also going to have to start getting her in some sort of routine, like putting her to bed before I go, or down to nap in the day.

But I'm a saddo and I miss her!

TALLULAHBELLE · 25/09/2007 22:08

My DD is on 7th or 8th centile but as long as her weight keeps increasing I don't worry about it. She's just a little tacker & it has its advantages especially as I have to lug her up 2 flights of stairs every time we go out.

derlor · 25/09/2007 22:11

i forget Foxy what was her birth weight?
(she's 12 weeks now, yes?)

derlor · 25/09/2007 22:13

bumper you are lucky to have that chart - they don't give them out up here in this area!!!
Foxy, it's OK i'm sure you'll have another one soon!!!!

bumperlicious · 25/09/2007 22:14

Apparently me and my dad when we were kids had to have regular check ups of our spines etc to check we were growing coz we were such tiddlers! Well, we both may be short still but we make up for it in width! Anyway, I guess I was always going to have a small baby, I'm quite petite (under my layers of fat!).

bumperlicious · 25/09/2007 22:15

Derlor why is that?

derlor · 25/09/2007 22:18

Bumper, i don't know really, maybe cause MOST babies here are FF?? even at work we only have 1 BF chart to refer to in our office it's a FF chart that is in every set of notes regardless of feeding?!?!!?

loonylovegood · 25/09/2007 22:18

My ds is just above the 98th centile!! He is such a bruiser compared to your dinky little girls!

That Claire Verity is a mad mad dangerous woman...not hugging a newborn baby? Insane. I was nearly in tears listening to that poor baby crying. I'm more of a Continuum Concept type myself. I believed in everything that woman was saying! Shame my son would brake my back if I carried him in a sling all day, not to mention the amount of sick that would end up all over me and the sling!

Welcome back bumper!!

Right, signing off as DH wants to puter and I am going to watch that horror show with the babies and try not to cry!

foxybrown · 25/09/2007 22:19

Derlor, she was 9.11 at birth, but was 2 weeks late.

She's 10 weeks now, bless.

foxybrown · 25/09/2007 22:20

i took DD to baby massage today and she LOVED it, she smiled and gurgled all the way through it - she was the only one that didn't cry! (got her weighed too, that's how i know her weight so accurately, )

loonylovegood · 25/09/2007 22:30

She is a mentalist MH!! I don't understand who would want their old life back a day after giving birth. Surely having a baby is a life changing experience, but in a good way! I wouldn't want my life to be the same as it was before my babies were born! I love to cuddle and nurture them and see to their needs, not leave them in a dark room or in the freezing cold to scream for hours on end...it made my blood boil!

Sorry, getting all ranty now!

Awe - missed that bringing up baby thing!
Holly - the woman talking about the continuum concept is the woman who hired us for the sling modeling thing and the slings she does are great, my lo is massive too but the slings are soooo comfy!
Her slings are here

foxybrown · 25/09/2007 22:36

I agree Holly. Even GF doesn't agree with her extreme methods! I did GF with DS1, and 2, think I am more of a Spock now, but she is always with me and we often co-sleep,

Derlor, thanks for the support, makes me feel better. They are just little dolls

loonylovegood · 25/09/2007 22:38

I loved her dkma! I agreed whole heartedly with everything she said! I suppose I am a bit of a hippy though! I have a didymos sling somewhere that can be tied like those slings, but I can't find it!

World Health Organization growth charts

....these be the secret ones Derlor mentioned.

loonylovegood · 25/09/2007 22:40

Absolutely foxy, even GF lets you hug and talk to your baby! I would be seriously concerned about anyone who follows CV, they must be insane! Do any of the babies in her care actually learn to play or talk or be social beings? I doubt it!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 25/09/2007 22:41

Continuum concept makes loads of sense to me (as did Drsears.com) but thats not to say that I don't follow a GF type structure to the day (I just don't freak out if it all doesn't go to plan).

Sorry for not keeping in touch much - I just can't keep up!!!!

loonylovegood · 25/09/2007 22:42

I can't keep up either dkma and I'm on here most days! Don't worry!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 25/09/2007 22:43

Can you imagine anyone telling you not to hold your newborn?! Its just wrong. Fucked up and wrong. Makes me mad!

daisyandbabybootoo · 25/09/2007 22:44

My HV told me that the charts in the red book are from a cross section...so both FF and BF babies......but as most people FF, then you can guess the rest can't you

As a point of interest though, when I was BFing DS he was between 25th and 50th on the chart and was following this line. After I put him fully BF at about 6/7 weeks, he shot up the centile charts till he was on the 98th at six months.

DD is between the 25th and 50th, so I'm thinking that I have 25/50 milk in my norks

That programme was real car crash TV....horrible, but I couldn't look away. those poor wee babies I hope the parents were cuddling them after she had gone home for the night!
