Jamantha · 25/09/2007 15:51

Ria, your link goes to the start of a job search - did you mean it to go to a specific job ad?

BadZelda · 25/09/2007 15:53

Also went to a LOVELY pre-school to check it out with DD1 yesterday...fingers crossed they have some space come new year. And the nursery where we go to stay and play seems to have been galvanised enough by my total collapse last week...though not quite enough to actually return any of my calls

BadZelda · 25/09/2007 15:55

Ria you don't mean that no one in your family has a passport?

Jamantha · 25/09/2007 17:31

We had new dining room chairs delivered todat. Hadn't thought to measure width of seat and width between table legs - they don't fit under table. Will be fine when in use, but won't store neatly away when not in use. I am in SO much bother when DH sees!

annobal · 25/09/2007 17:48

Evening all! My house is now lovely and tidy and clean, all toys duly put away to make some space and children all present and dressed - surely there can't be anything for Mum to find fault with . I mean, I even cleaned the shoe cupboard out!

TA - glad that going back to work not too bad.

riabutterflew · 25/09/2007 17:49

sorry about that, on my computer it nicely brings up the job vacancy for FATHER CHRISTMAS. (jobcentre ref DCG/11742 if anyone is as nosey as me).

nope, not one of us has a valid passport bz. I had one as a teenager but didn't never renewed it, I don't think DH has had one since the dark ages either. TBH going abroad doesn't appeal to me - I get sick on planes and boats . I would be tempted if my sister goes back to NZ and someone devises a time travel device so I could arrive before I left home. Maybe one day we'll be tempted by somewhere enough to get round to it...

riabutterflew · 25/09/2007 17:50

I'm sure some of the responsibility can be put on your dh J

sputnik · 25/09/2007 19:02

Annobal can you please share your secret of how to sort your house out ready for visitors wwith 3 small children? I am in awe.

Baby Sputnik pooed up his back about a billion times today and had nothing clean so I dug out an old body of DD's size 12-18. Apart from turning up the sleeves a little it fits fine. It has a bit of girly picot edging at the collar but his multiple chins hide that . I think I will skip a few sizes of baby clothes and save me some money

Jamantha · 25/09/2007 19:08

DH really good about the chairs Even suggested we get a new table to fit

DD sobbing away upstairs. Has been grumpy all pm, getting more and more upset as afternoon wore on. When DH got in she's been crying for an hour, and so thinking that my cold had been making me feel worse as the day wore on, we thought that maybe she was getting same problem so have given her a little calpol and are still waiting to see if it will have any effect. DH is up there with her now, trying to settle her to bed. I just feel very for her. I was feeling before when she'd been crying on my lap for an age and then I remembered the smile she'd given me earlier and how cute she was when she hugged the new bunny toy she was given today and couldn't be cross for long.

BadZelda · 25/09/2007 19:56

Sputnik - I have been doing that too - well buying 6-9 mo stuff now...have quite a lot from DD1, though some of it is rather knackered due to messy weaning (first timers, you might know this aleady, but I haven't found ANYTHING that removes a) mashed banana and b) metanium stains

BadZelda · 25/09/2007 19:58

And Ria - sorry if my question sounded rude - was honestly surprised, as people are always jetting off on foreign holidays all the time in this country. There's so much to be done in britain. Having said that the weather is pretty shit...

sputnik · 25/09/2007 20:13

Hope your dD cheers up Jamantha. if she has a blocked nose and keeps pulling off while feeding then saline drops work wonders. If you don't have any you can probably improvise with some water and salt.

Banana stains... oh the joys wwe have to come

Jamantha · 25/09/2007 20:22

Thanks sputnik. She's a bit snufflt, but seems to be over the worst of that. Have put a karvol tissue between the matress and bars at one one of the cot to help her through the night though. But if she's going through the same as me, and her snuffles seem to be following the same pattern, her throat will be very sore I'm off to the shop for some ice cream in a minute - for medicinal purposes only of course

justbeme · 25/09/2007 20:34

evening! - dont forget to watcg channel 4 at 9pm - bringing up baby - looks good!!

Jamantha · 25/09/2007 20:41

Think I'm going to give that a miss actually JBM, but be interested to hear if others enjoy it or not.

riabutterflew · 25/09/2007 20:43

it's ok BZ, I didn't think you were rude at all.
I think there is more than enough we haven't seen in this country for now. I might be like my parents and get the travel bug when I'm more than old enough to know better

daisyandbabybootoo · 25/09/2007 21:01

evening...sorry your LO is miserable Jamantha. Fingers crossed we haven't had any ailments here yet. I'm surprised DS hasn't brought anything home form school so far.

DDs bottom is all read dry and sore again . I kept her out of real nappoes over the weekend, and she has been back in them since yesterday morning. Lunchtime today...read and spore again. I washed all my nappies woithout detergent three times over the weekend and did one load with vinegar to neutralise and they now smell of nothing....but still she's red and dry, like exzema (sp?)

Don't know what to do, but don't want to have to go back to disposables, especially after all the expense

TALLULAHBELLE · 25/09/2007 21:13

Good god - is anyone watching Bringing Up Baby? Sorry if already discussed just logged on.

Jamantha · 25/09/2007 21:18

Sorry about the sore bot, Daisy, no advice though I'm afraid.

Aaaargghh! MIL tries her problem solving again. Was talking to her on MS Messenger - told her about our colds (knowing she'd like to be informed) and what we'd done to help DD, including pain relief for sore throat (thought she'd be relieved to know we'd done all that we could). She then suggested salt water gargling!! No!!! I can treat my sore throat, without your help, I never asked for any help, I only told you about it to keep you informed about your grand daughter, and at just 14 weeks old I cannot get her to gargle!

Jamantha · 25/09/2007 21:19

Just hope she doesn't find MN and see what I'm saying!

foxybrown · 25/09/2007 21:26

at your MIL Jamantha! What is she thinking?

T - I'm watching it. The '50's "guru" is getting a slating on the other thread.

daisyandbabybootoo · 25/09/2007 21:29

bloody hell Jamantha...does she not know that salt can kill babies? and it doesn't take a lot either.

Hi tallulah....yup I'm watching it. Claire Verity is truly a misinformed and silly lady. tbh, I'm shocked that people would think ignoring a baby is a sensible thing to do, and that they would even show this in TV. I hope her methods are proved wrong, I really do. She's like a bigger, harder, nastier version of Gina Ford.

bumperlicious · 25/09/2007 21:30

Evening all. I'm back from N. Wales, had a lovely time, though it's stressful staying places with a baby. She was mostly good as gold but the journey always makes her funny and she yelled for about 2 hours, really going for it. My friend understands but it's still stressful.

The feeding is up and down still she is feeding eventually but keeps coming of and not able to go back on again. I've bought some of this to see if it's a milk supply problem. Because she sleeps for so long I can usually express 4 or more oz in the morning but today he drained both breasts so no early night for me as I can't get any more off. And she is wailing now despite having fed only an hour and a half ago. Think she is going through a growth spurt. I'll let you all know how if it helps.

Ok, update, just tried to feed her and she is still wailing. DH has her. God I need a break. Sorry, on her being miserable again. I will perk up soon. Also I've given up weight watchers after a whole 2 weeks! I'm just not sure dieting is doing my milk any good. And what with my thyroid thing I just don't think it is the right time.

Sorry, can't remember all the news. Sounds like lots of you have crappy in laws! DG, how rude to your DD. Annobal hope your parents visit is not too stressful.

Ria re your DH's job. Hope he manages to find another. Trying to get DH to get a better job.

daisyandbabybootoo · 25/09/2007 21:30

is she likely to find MN...and would she know who you were...maybe a name change is in order!

bumperlicious · 25/09/2007 21:34

ooh, I'm recording bringing up baby on my bt vision!
