Hiya Wilkie

WizardofWilkdom · 08/10/2007 19:14

RGee - stopped sterilising at 6 months

WizardofWilkdom · 08/10/2007 19:14

Mwah mwah sweetie

LadyTophamHatt · 08/10/2007 19:16

Rgee, I stopped sterilising in july when we went camping, seemed rather pointless to be worrying about it when we spend 2 week in atent.

i stopped sterilising for Z when he started to take a dummy, at about 12 weeks. i was sterilising a bottle for him, and realised that every time he dropped his dummy i just sucked it and put it back in his mouth. if he was lucky i'd blow on it as well (cause everyone knows that a small puff removes all the germs) but he was eating fluff and gawd knows what by then anyway. his favourite food is currently cardboard or my shoelaces.

OTOH, i didn't have too much to sterilise cause of bf-ing, those of you who use bottles a lot more would have more to sterlise IYKWIM. i've never sterilised his bowl or spoon, and his high chair could do with a clean with more than just a babywipe none of you are ever coming to my house, it's so manky!

LTH - Zac hates having his bottle held (when he has one) if dh is on babywatch and is giving him a bottle at night he props him up with the V shape pillow, gives him a warmed bottle and lets Z nurse himself to sleep. it's as if he doesn't want anything if he can't have me! having said that, he's not wanting to nurse to sleep anymore... i miss him going into a milk coma in my arms...i want my teeny tiny newborn back!!

eandh · 08/10/2007 20:17

yep i stopped sterilising at 6 months plus hattie won't take formula milk anymore (she kept stealing ellies full fat cows milk bedtime drink) if I make formula she has 1 mouthful dribbles it and refuses it so she is on cows milk (bad mummy but some milk has got to better than no milk )

Got my furniture its fab just need to resort all the toys and put them in new homes yey I love new stuff (and my dad paid for the furniture when we collected it and said to pay him whenever which normally means don't worry about paying yey yey yey yey!!)

Dragonhart · 08/10/2007 20:22

Awwwww! Thank you. Really made my day. xxxx

Oh and I will have both cakes please! The one with strawberries can be one of my fruit portions 2happy!

Luke has suddenly fallen in love with "In the night garden" too Lizz. He used to find it scary but then suddenly loves it! I think nightgardenmania is sweeping the country!

Jodie- Poor you, I know just how you feel as I had my first recently and it seems to hit you hard as a revenge for all the months you missed! Hope that you and your los are feeling better today. xxx

Canmummy- turf her out! That would really piss me off. Either that or lean accross her sitting on the table when you have to answer the phone! Stress! From changing rooms! Pah! Glad all is looking good for your MIL.

ratbunny- Glad you are feeling better, I saw a rat on the pathement when we were having a walk and your name sprang into my mind! Come to think of it im not surprised you want to change it

Shimmer- I have to admit that there is a certain element of the idea of 'getting it all over and done with' to me wanting our children close together. TBH, I really begin to enjoy them when they are about 8-9mnths and they really start to get a personality. I could take or leave the whole pregnancy/baby bit. Does that sound awful?

Rgee, never used a sterilisor (sp?) as I didnt give Ruth a cup til she was weaning so as she was over the 6months mark didnt think I had to bother.

Urban, bet I could beat you on the skummy mummy front! Our house is filthy! EAH close your ears!!

Ruth had goosberries today. I mean turn-your-mouth-inside-out-they-are-so-sour goosberries and she loved them. Didnt even make that sour face just bawled her eyes out when they had finished! Luke just went 'YUCK'

I am about to have indian to will catch you all later! xxx

Dragonhart · 08/10/2007 20:23

Sorry bunnyhunny- ment to say rat/bunny not ratbunny! Now what would that look like.....?

Dragonhart · 08/10/2007 20:26

BTW- would you ring someone about the rat? It was opposite a park, about a 3 min walk from our house (although it only has a slide and I have never seen anyone playing in it). Why would a rat die on the pathement? Who do you ring?

canmummy · 08/10/2007 22:02

Never thought of stopping sterilizing yet! It's only the breast pump and 4 bottles/week so may stop bothering.

Talking of milk, does anyone else express? I'm struggling now to get more than 2-3oz at a time and lo has suddenly decided to take her bottle at nursery and want more at the end! I'm quite stressed out about it as with the allergy she can't have formula.

DH - we had a rat die in the gutter just up the road fromour house a few weeks back and it was there for days, yuk! Never thought to report it to anyone, especially as mil had one in her back yard and council weren't interested at all

Shimmer · 08/10/2007 22:17

RGee I still sterilise F's bottles and his dummies pretty regularly too. Probably don't really need to though. When we were on holiday I just washed them and he survived, so I think I should probably wean myself off the sterilising soon.

I've just started giving F his mid-afternoon milk in his cup, rather than a bottle, as he doesn't drink much then anyway and he's good at drinking from his cup himsef. So it'll only be 2 bottles a day i'm not sterilising.

Ratbunny sounds scary........

hattie2 · 08/10/2007 22:22

Can't remember the last time I sterilized, ds was prob about 5 months old though.

Wilkie - 2 lbs is a sensible weight loss per week, if you do that for 4 weeks it's more than half a stone. I'm on WW as well and have been stuck for the last 2 weeks so would love a 2 lb loss! at J walking. Is my ds the only one not even crawling yet?? He rolls and shuffles but doesn't get on his knees.

Happy birthday DH! No advice on the rat I'm afraid, not sure if I'd think to ring anyone or not.

LadyTophamHatt · 09/10/2007 06:54

ds4 isn't crawling, he gets around by a combination of rolls, lunges and bum shuffles

LadyTophamHatt · 09/10/2007 07:07

you'd call enviro health about a rat but TBH they wouldn't do alot, they might send someone as it near a plaground but.....
That single rat will prob be part of a huge gang of them that have been happily living there for yonks. You just happened to notice that one that time IYSWIM

Not sure if it a urban myth but IIRC in London (so I assume in other big cities etc) you're nevr more than 3 metres away from a rat.

(Unless you're sitting o the pitch of your roof though I suppose)

theUrbanDryad · 09/10/2007 08:19

that's certainly true in Northampton, LTH. by the bus station in town there's an island that's covered in litter which is known locally as Rat Island. and people wonder why we want to move...tut!

eandh · 09/10/2007 08:23

dh's grandad has lots of horrible rat stories/facts problem is he always thinks that meal time is right time to tell them all

theUrbanDryad · 09/10/2007 08:41

stiffle - that's a top word! i'm going to use that in everyday conversation from now on!

bleargh - tis horrible weather here. i could happily stay in and hibernate but got to take Z for his eye test. bleargh. oh well, maybe it'll brighten up between now and half 9...

eandh · 09/10/2007 08:46

ud not sure if i spelt it right - i know what i mean

I'm being naughty and typing this from my desk at work

theUrbanDryad · 09/10/2007 11:27

EAH - i think it's stifle. but stiffle is loads better.

Z doesn't have a squint, nor is he showing any signs of short sightedness yet, which is a great relief. we've got to go back in 6 months though.
