aww, bunnyrat, sorry to hear about S. hope you're coping ok. what milk are you giving him now?

i have to tell you this as it's sooo funny (well, i think it is, anyway) I was reading the MN development calendar (here) and thought i'd try the brick test on Z, with ducks in the bath. he took the 2 ducks, then put one in his mouth and grabbed the other one! do you think i should start a g&t thread??

Dragonhart · 10/10/2007 23:18

UD, glad he didnt have to have them, Luke hates them, and after last time when they didnt put one of the drops in properly and we had to wait while they did it again and for the drops to work so we were at the surgery for 1 1/2hours (yes, fun with a 2year old and Ruth in a tiny waiting room ), I was glad that they said he was self-correcting his squint and his eye sight appeared to be getting more "normal". DH is very very short sighted and had glasses from very young. Actually I think Luke can see much better than me with my glasses on. He often sees things I have to squint at!

Oh and you can get gadgets that attach your book shelfs to the wall so that they cant pull stuff over on themselves. I think that most of Ikeas tall stuff comes with them now. It does make moving the furniture round more difficult though!

Will have to try that brick test tomorrow, Ruth does that droping things of the high chiar and staring at them. Actually it is quite annoying! A friend of mine said she attaches things to hers with ribbon so might give that a try.

Bunny- poor lo. Hope the other test goes better.

Ruth is not sleeing well either, but I think it is another cold. She is all stuffed up and hot.

And today, Ruth ate some pear. All by herself. With her own hand! I know everyone elses lo has been doing it for ages but Ruth just recoils if I try to put stuff in her hand unless it is a breadstick, but she picked up a quarter of pear and gobbled it down! Hurray!

Now we just need to work on the moving about malarky!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 11/10/2007 07:52

Ola.

DH - do you/your bro know anything about Chester Golf Club? It has come up and we are looking at it as it is not too far from my sister.

Tues Night must have been the night for bad sleeping. J was up at 1.20am and 4.20am. Ho hum, we are lucky most other nights so it is a shock to the system when I have to get out of bed at that time!!!!! Me and DH were knackered last night though and fell asleep on sofa at 8.15pm, woke up at 9.30pm and went straight to bed. Feel great today.

Ratbunnyhunny - I was on Prozac before we tried for J and the dr consulted the psychiatric specialist (makes me sound a nutter!!) - he wrote to her saying that it is perfectly safe to concieve on Prozac and continue taking it throughout your pg although it is always preferable to come off it. I came off it and TBH found my depression better when I was pg, I just suffered with anxierty although that could have been linked to my previous m/c. HTH. MSN me if you want more info off thread.

Scary moment yesterday when I got in from work. Made a cuppa and put it on our bookcase out of reach, went back into the kitchen and somehow whilst I was in there J managed to grab the cup and pull it over. Thank GOD the tea didn't go ON him but over the side of the sofa and on my wedding album (don't tell DH). That could have been nasty. Cups are now even higher on the TOP of the bookshelf!!!!

EAH - how is H's asthma?

Lizz - how is the rash?

Shimmer - you could be ShimmeringGoblin, GhoulthatShimmers, ShimmersInTheMoonlight - I'm crap at these things. >> 2HAPPY????

eandh · 11/10/2007 08:02

morning gave hattie a mini dream feed at 9pm last night as so fed up of getting up with her plus she fell asleep before her bedtime bottle and she slept for .............................. 13 hours without waking at all yipeeeeeeeeee, the only problem is ellie has decided she doesnt ant to wear nappy at night anymore so was up at 1am changing her bed sheet after an accident but nevermind

Wilkie- its alot better now she has the inhaler she is def wheezing less and seems happier in herself in the day which is good got to go back in december for a review.

OMG GMTV have an article about cdiff in hospitals and the hospital I had both e and h are one of the worst in the country (maidstone hospital) I had heard rumours as friend used to work there but christ I'd have to be desperate to take them there now

Bunny - sorry to hear about Saul hopefully he'll grow out of some of the allergies

DH - well done ruth!!!

Am off to look at teh link UD posted

bunnyhunny · 11/10/2007 09:15

Seems like all our los are conspiring to not sleep for the same night!

ud - will have to try that test!. S will probably ignore everything and start dancing or something. He has worked out how to use the bathroom scales - he turns them on, then pushes down on it to change the digital reading. So I;m not 1/2 stone overweight, it's him behind me pushing down on the scales.
and S is on pepti, anti-allergenic milk. It IS free though .

EAH - glad the inhaler is helping the asthma. I hardly notice my asthma, so if it's well managed it really doesn't have to make a difference to your lo's life. Does she use a nebuliser?

DH - S doesnt really feed himself either. If we give him stuff that is even SLIGHTLY slimey, he tends to rub it in his eyes / ears. Might try a pear half though - was it a tinned one, or did yo need to cook it first? I am crap at this whole weaning thing...

WWW - might just take you up on that msn..

RGEEnie · 11/10/2007 18:30

Hiya. A genie is not particularly scary is it??

Bunny - pmsl at bathroom scales. Where do you start with all the allergy stuff? So much to avoid.
Eah - I was going to ask if you had a good night cos of your singing. Then I saw H slept a long time
Wilkie - Chester golf course crap, York great, Leeds the best!! Btw, I'm glad that you and J are being guinea pigs in the testing out our household safety. Memo to self, cup of tea just out of what you think is reach = very bad.
Dragon - yeah to the pear well done R. I'm still in the 'can't be arsed to crawl' camp btw.
UD - clever Z!

Shimmer - surely there is a great name for you for Halloween. Just can't think of one....creativity, who needs it. Are you counting dowm to work now?
2H - got anything from ebay yet?

Is it time for a new thread??

DH playing golf at the mo. But it's DARK!!

theUrbanDryad · 11/10/2007 18:38

i'm bidding on these, Z's got some ones similar, they're navy blue with father christmas on them (dh got them free in July at a PR event!) but they're 12-18 months. i showed the eBay ones to dh and he said they're chavvy, what do you all think?

gobletofblood · 11/10/2007 19:04

Ellen is exhasuted at the mo so we don;t have sleep proobs. Lastnight she was asleep before 6 until 6ish, bottle then straight back to sleep til after 9. She was asleep before 6 again tonight, rubbing eyes during tea so only had half bottle before bed. Oh well.

She had a shower after swimming today (don;t usually bother) but realised she hadn't had a bath since sunday night (whoops). Monday we travlled back friom my mums, tues we had visitors and it never crossed my mind, yesterday she was tired during ter again and this morning I couldn;t be bothered.

Had a bit of a 'I;m pissed off but not really sure why' type day. Couldn;t seem to geta nythign done quickly but no enthusiasm to do anything.

I arranged for the council to collect my broken tumble dryer last friday and they didn;t turn up, supposed to come againby tomorrow but I had an altercation with some dodgy travellers this morning wanting to take it for scrap. I was very short with them and was then worried they would come and trash the house. Rang the council to complain and they say they came on tues but there was nothing there. How they can miss a tumble dryer blatantly in the front yard - TWICE - is beyond me.

Wilkie - I went to chester a few months ago and it was lovely so can imagine the gold course is nice. I mean golf of course - would be ace if it was gold!!!!

I am 30 next year and trying to decide what to do to celebrate. Not really a party/.make a big thing of my type person but thinking of holding a murder mystery night.

my mate and her hubbie are going to malmaison in leeds otmorrow night - 99 quid for dinner bed and breakfast - not bad. No reason for their trip just a bit of romance and her mum is having lo overnight

wilkie what happened with your silver cross pushchair?

rgee - looking fwd to seeing you tomorrow!

gobletofblood · 11/10/2007 19:13

lot of typos sorry

i couldn;t be bothered to cook which is v unlike me so I have just ahd a piza for tea

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 11/10/2007 19:18

Shit, what do you press to bring back stuff you've typed and lost?!

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 11/10/2007 19:34

Bollocks. Lost it all. Can't be arsed to type it again. Short summary:

eandh, hope the dreamfeed works again tonight
Wilkie - hope the tea comes out of the upholstery
Shimmer - ShimmeringPoolOfBlood; ShimmeringSamhain; ShimmerScaringEverybody; BobbingForShimmeringApples...sure I had a better one, can't remember it now
Rgee - you could be AaaaaaaaaahhhhhrrrrRGee'sgotmyleg! Heh heh.
Can't remember the rest. Bollocks. Stupid computer.

theUrbanDryad · 11/10/2007 19:49

tis ctrl+z, not that that's much use to you now!

no personal for me? what about my genius baby??

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 11/10/2007 19:58

Lol, UD, if ctrl z worked I could prove that actually my first thing was an entry about your genius baby!! (But it involved an anecdote about ds1 at that age which I decided on second thoughts was pretty pointless, so scratched it on the re-write!! )

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 11/10/2007 20:12

OMG

I don't cry laughing, I really don't. Well, I did for the BMC's thread about the woman getting her epis who pinned the doc to the wall with her fanjo...

but if you haven't seen this thread already, check it out here, seriously, tears rolling down my face (make sure you keep reading lisalisa's entries for the full horror!)

Warning - if you have dodgy pelvic floor muscles, pee before reading!

bunnyhunny · 11/10/2007 20:39

ud - love the shoes. nearly bid on them myself! do they NEED pre-walker shoes now? I put S in normal 9 - 12 mo shoes when he goes outside, but I don't think they are supporting him feet properly as he walks..

theUrbanDevil · 11/10/2007 21:48

bunnyfly - they don't need pre-walker shoes, but i put shoes on Z to keep his farking socks on! otherwise he just pulls them off (mind you, he pulls his shoes off too!) i won them btw! will have to post a picture of him wearing his chavtastic trainers!

what do you think of my halloween name girls?

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 12/10/2007 07:34

Great name!

hattie2 · 12/10/2007 10:12

Morning all, love the name UD!

Glad to hear my ds isn't the only one not on the move yet.

Tried the brick test on ds yesterday. First he tried to put one in his mouth but couldn;t seem to work out how to let go and leave it in his mouth. So then he dropped the brick in his right hand, passed the one in the left hand to the right hand and held out his empty left hand for the third brick. Seems he's inherited his Dad's knack of faffing instead of doing things the easy way!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 12/10/2007 11:07

Great name UD.

I tried the brick test to and J just looked at me bemused, dropped one brick and picked the spare up, then dropped the spare and dropped the original. Great fun for about 10 mins - guess I won't be joining you on your g&t thread UD

I feel V proud of myself. I don't like going out of my 'comfort zone' and doing new things - just lose my confidence but I took J to soft play today on my own and we had a great time! I have daredevil child (I can see lots of broken bones in his childhood) - he climbed over a really high cargo-net, through a tunnel that spun. He was the youngest there though - shame cos I was hoping to meet some other mums with LOs similar ages.

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 12/10/2007 14:22

Wilkie - well done for going - I hate doing that sort of thing so much, I've never been to soft play without my dsis for moral support . It's a shame the other kids were a lot older - though maybe that's because J is so G&T in the mobility department!!

I haven't bothered with the brick test with ds2. I did it with ds1 at that age, and he just gave me such a "duh, mother!" look and gathered all 3 toys in his arms (that was the boring anecdote I decided not to repeat when I lost my stuff yesterday...!)

Well if all the January babies are communicating telepathically to arrange crap nights simultaneously, then you all must be as shagged as I am. That or ds2 is being slow (keeping going as he started off!) and is 2 nights behind everyone else. He's picked up a nasty cold and cough from ds1 and was up most of the night.

Is Trixy around? Is she still bfing? UD, you are aren't you? Jodie...where are you? Anyone else? How often are your babies bfing? ds2 is down to only 3/day. I know ds1 was on the same amount at this age, but it seems so little, especially now he's poorly, but he just won't take any more. And he's constipated but when I tried him with orange yesterday he gagged so much he vomited up half his lunch [oops]. Blardy kids. Spend the first months never letting go of my tits, then when they do, I worry they aren't feeding enough!

laughalot · 12/10/2007 14:24

Helllooo

Well not much to report here at the moment little lauren is now on the move its so funny she just is getting on Aidans nerves so much by playing with all his toys.

I am doing fairly well with xmas shopping so far I have bought Aidan a thomas tank - set, a lightning mcqueen camera with photo album, roary the racing car , a vetch laptop, and thomas tank bubblebath. Lauren has her ride on bike, boots glow bear. Iv got my secret santa pressie also my secret santa one for work so im getting there slowly.

Ud I like the trainers they are cute.

Ooooh got to go lauren has shit up her back

theUrbanDevil · 12/10/2007 14:34

2H - Z feeds every 3 hours or so, as he's still pretty much exclusively bf-ed, it's the only way of getting calories etc into him (and i'm very lazy on the solids front ) is ds2 producing wet nappies, happy, alert etc? can you get fruit into him at all? Z enjoys nectarines and dtied apricot, and has weetabix too, which is good for the fibre, obviously.

Z was awake from half 2 tlll half 4 this morning. no obvious reasons, he just wanted to climb on our heads. it's a good job he's cute...

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 12/10/2007 15:51

He'll eat pretty much everything I give him now (after totally refusing solids for 6 weeks), just not oranges. It's the bananas - they always constipated ds1 too. They're just such a convenient, pre-packaged, easy for them to feed themselves food. But they really constipate my boys . But ds1 was never as constipated as this - but there again, if I ever gave him banana I would just give him an orange to counteract it. How can he not like oranges? I even tried fresh OJ (in lots of water). He just doesn't like them. Freak... At least ds1's only food dislike is -broccoli- -brocolli- -brocoli-. Dammit, YKWIM. I can't even spell it, can't blame him for not eating it .

How long are you going to bf, UD? My family's already started asking me how long I intend to bf for . ds1 self-weaned at 15m so I feel ds2 has to be given the chance to feed at least as long (unless he totally self-weans). But if dh and I go for a third, we'd have about a 2 year age gap, which means I'd be stopping only as I got pg. And since I've been pg or bf or both now continually for over 3 years, I think my body deserves a little break. Would you tandem feed, UD?

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 12/10/2007 15:52

dammit got the blardy strikeout wrong

WeeWitchyWilkie · 12/10/2007 16:38

LAL - PMSL at your post sign off. Lovely. Hope you had fun cleaning that up.

2Happy - can't comment on the BFing front but I have a lot of admiration for those of you still at it after all this time! I'm defo gonna try it for a little longer next time.

J has been a little cretin all afternoon. Just whinging and whining. Argh - don't do whingy kids. He keeps flinging himself down and 'sobbing' but stopping every few seconds to look at me to make sure I am watching. Generally speaking I just walk away but then he follows, sobbing and clinging to my jeans. There is nothing wrong with him other than being a moaning minnie!!

Went to Pets At Home to look at the animals (just for something to do!) and he walked the whole way round just holding my hand. So cute

LAL - you are very organised with your Xmas shopping. Have found an adorable ride on here that Grandma and Grandad are going to buy him. Pushed him round the shop in it and he cried when I got him out
