I don't like my halloween name - help me choose a better one purhlease..........

I'm cos I just realised WW woman caluclated my loss wrong and have actually lost 3lb. Whoo!!!! Off to eat cake (not really).

I think Darby has got Joan pregnant. Hmmm, do you think I could set up a Fishy ante-natal thread???

LAL - will have a look on eBay but I'm skint so they will have to be cheap

Our family have decided to have a £10 christmas. All presents have got to be no more than £10. I think it's cool cos we are so skint and have so many people to buy for. It's more fun having to find things for £10 cos it makes it harder!!!

Thanks for the sterilising advice. I have now removed steriliser and replaced with slow cooker which was wafting out beef & veg casserole smells when I returned from work. Nom nom.

Was really worried earlier today. A good friend went into labour at 3am on Sunday morning, and still hadn't heard anything this morning. Thankfully just received a text to say her daughter was born yesterday afternoon (how long a labour??) but crash situation with emergency c-section, but baby is fine now. I haven't heard anything else but can't begin to imagine what happened.

geoRGEEweasley · 09/10/2007 18:59

Wilkie - xpost again

eandh · 09/10/2007 19:51

Bought some melamine (SP) plates/bowls/cups etc from poundland today for ellie, hattie and nephew to use on xmas day they are great blue and white with big jolly santa in middle (3 plates for a £1 and 4 bowls for £1) and am flicking through my xmas books/websites deciding what tcolour theme tohave my table (can you tell its the 1st christmas I have ever done )

Dragonhart · 09/10/2007 19:54

UD- Did he have to have those awful drops? Poor Z if he did! Were you worried he had a problem or was it just to check?

I presume that even though you can stop sterilising, you still have to used boiled water to make formula?

theUrbanDryad · 10/10/2007 10:22

DH - no, he didn't have to have drops. i took him as there is a family history of severe myopia (short sight) and was hoping to catch it early so he wouldn't end up with such stupid eyes like i have. AFAIK, you still have to use boiling water, but obviously i'm not an expert!

WeeWitchyWilkie · 10/10/2007 10:22

Ta Dah!

EAH - you should be EAmwaHaha

Am at work today cos am going to Grim tomorrow to see my sis and DTs so swapped the days round. Not much to report, am a bit bored actually.

Someone entertain me please.

Had crappy night - think J's gums are still sore where the teeth have cut.

Me and DH are going through a right niggly patch. Nothing serious we just seem to keep irritating each other. Anyone else find the same? I sometimes thing we underestimated the impact of a baby on our relationship and how much the dynamics change.

theUrbanDryad · 10/10/2007 10:27

i know what i meant to ask you lot - have you noticed your lo's favouring a hand at all? Z seems to mainly use his left hand to reach and pick up things, so i'm wondering if he'll be left handed.

he's finally started saying dada, although he mainly says adad, which first thing in the morning sounded like "ATTACK!"

WeeWitchyWilkie · 10/10/2007 10:28

Left hand all the time UD. He will only walk with me if I hold his left hand too.

J says Dada to everything and Fssssss to the fish.

theUrbanDryad · 10/10/2007 10:33

maybe it's a Jan baby thing then Wilks, cause all the babies from the AN classes are favouring left hands too

Z is in a funny mood today. i feel like i say no to him all the time. i've babyproofed the living room as much as i can, but he keeps pulling the bookcase and i'm terrified it's going to fall on his head! i don't think he's feeling very well, he slept for 2 hours this morning, which isn't like him, and he's still rubbing his eyes and yawning, but refuses to go to sleep.

my IL's are coming later. uk.

katwith3kittens · 10/10/2007 11:33

Well girls .... Thanks for the reminder!

Went for the smear test this morning. Couldnt find my diary but guessed it was today at 10.30. Arived at 10.15 and got checked in by receptionist. After 5 minutes she came up to me ans said 'You are in the wrong place' WTF ??? I thought, the vets is next door and the meat factory beyond that... where should I be ???

Anyway, to cut a long story short I should have been at the satellite surgery which is closer to home at 11. Aaaaagggh !

So... who is it thats also going for a smear soon, dont know who or when but you know who you are ......

Anyway the good news is I weigh exactly the same as I did in 2004 ! (Dont own a pair of bathroom scales so only get to know my weight every few years !)

Briefly skimmed the thread and it seems that there are a few clucky chickens about, so who's going to be first ?? not me ever again ...but I'm not ruling out LTH going for number 5, that sounds highly likely.

UD, great news btw. Do babies go through a stage of prefering one side and then favouring the other a few months later ? IIRC handedness doesnt get assigned until the age of 3 or so... but hey, dont listen to me my brain is fuddled.

Thiking of changing to blackkatwith3kittens or something along those lines... someone help me pleease .....

WeeWitchyWilkie · 10/10/2007 12:27

BlackKatWith3Broomsticks?

gobletofblood · 10/10/2007 12:38

Ellen wants everything with her left hand too
Me & DH have been getting annoyed with each other a lot too. It annoys me how I seem to run the house and in my opinion he seems to walk round with his eyes shut.

Ellen seems to be back in the swing of eating at nursery again - has been refusing their food and onlyt eating jars but ate the lot yest incl 2 puddings!! Obv got her mums sweet tooth.

2 weeks at work then 2 weeks off - can't wait

Lizzzombie · 10/10/2007 15:31

LOL at all the 'spooky' names!

Quick question - when do you need to worry about rashes on babies?
Dylan's tummy is covered in an itchy rash which came up this morning. I have a Drs appt for tomorrow morning, and he is otherwise fine, but I just wondered if, apart from meningitis rash, was there any others to look out for?
(hope its not chicken pox or german measles)

WeeWitchyWilkie · 10/10/2007 18:30

Not sure Lizz. J had a little raised pinprick rash all over his tummy and back for about 4 days a couple of weeks ago but he was otherwise fine so I didn't bother with the GP and it just went. Think it may have been an allergic reaction to washing powder.

Sorry - that's not much help, just go with your instinct.

2HappyFrighteningPeople · 10/10/2007 19:32

Kw3 - doh! Did you re-book? I've had my third reminder but don't want to go. I had a borderline one last time because I was bfing, and I'm still bfing so chances are it'll still be borderline. Problem is, I don't know how long I'll be bfeeding for.... Def like blackkatw3broomsticks!

UD - ds1 was always left-hand dominant. From birth. Like, the very first ever reaching for something, rolling left side over, crawling with his left side, eating with his left hand. I always thought it was his traumatic birth because babies shouldn't show dominance, but it's persisted. And his grampa is a leftie. And now ds2 seems to be a leftie too. So basically, I reckon the whole not showing dominance until they're 5 thing just isn't true for all kids - wow a generalisation that doesn't fit all babies !!!

vino - meningitis is a purply/red rash that doesn't go away if you press on it (use a glass to press on it), but usually the child is very unwell with it too. ds1 has a really weird rash ATM too, I thought it was chickenpox at first, but I don't think it is (or at least, the CM didn't see it and shriek "take this child back home!!!", phew). Glad Ellen's eating better - they don't half go through weird non-eating phases don't they??

No news here (and you wonder why I go AWOL?!)
Used Ebay for the first time ever last night. Didn't get what I bid on, rats, but think I may now be addicted...

Shimmer · 10/10/2007 19:36

Hi all. Haven't thought up a halloween name yet... i'jll have to work on that one tonight

Not sure about the rash Lizz. Same as Wilkie said, F had a rash on his tummy and legs a few months ago but it didn;t look bad and didnt bother him at all so i just left it and it went away in a few days. It didn't itch him though. Hopefully docs will out your mind at rest tomorrow.

I don't think right or left handidness (sp?) is decided til they're a bit older either. F used to alwasy favour his left but now i think it's more his right.....

Freddie has been really hard work the last few days. Very whiny and crying loads and not sleeping well at all. I'm hoping it's teeth problems... whichmeans it shouldn't last too long! Actually he seems a bit more cheerful this evening so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for a better night tonight. The last 3 nights he's woken about 4ish and not wanted to go back to sleep again, which is very strange for him.

(F is sitting at my feet just now spinning himself round on his bottom on the wooden floor. It's hilarious, though i'm pretty sure he's going to get dizzy and fall over any minute!)

Bought a load of really cool new 9-12 months clothes for F in H&M today. They had some FAB stuff!! We're quite short of money at the moment so haven't been shopping for ages and had forgotten how a bit of retail therapy cheers me up. Even if it's not for me!

eandh · 10/10/2007 20:08

we had the worst night ever last night (actually I had te worst dh was comatosed from going out for a couple of birthday beers!) hattie woke at 3am and did not stop crying till 7.30am. That obviously woke ellie so at 4.15 I was on the verge of losing it let ellie sleep in our bed with dh (having shoved him awake to tell him he wasnt drunk but was very sleepy but ellie is fine and stays on my side of bed)

I went in ellies room trying to get hattie to settle tried milk, calpol, cuddling, changed nappy, left her in cot etc etc and nothing worked, came downstairs at 5.50 and plonked her on the floor and ignored her for half an hour as nothing I could do. She ate breakfast at 7.20 and then back to bed where she soundly slept for 3 hours (would have slept longer I woke her!) poor dh crap birthday as she is still miserable today I am moody tired wife and ellie was so tired from last night se fell asleep at lunch time and is now being a royal pita to get to sleep!!

On a slightly positive note we went out for lunch and found a nice play with indoor play area, ellie had tabard with an alarm in it so she couldnt wander off out of play area without us knowing (although we sat right by doors) and food was great (ellie had kids toad in the hole and veg and her gravy came out in kids size gravy jug which she loved and then had frozen fruit with warm chocolate sauce for pudding and it was only £3.50!!)

Hattie has fetching egg bump on her forehead from trying to be brave and move from sofa to coffee table with no help she headbutte table on the way down she is fine though!!

bunnyhunny · 10/10/2007 20:26

had an awful night with S last night too - he woke at 3.30 and wouldn't settle at all. Just cried and cried, then SCREAMED til 4.30, when
I gavein and got him in bed with us. And lo and behold, he stops crying and drops off... was so annoyed, I considered contacting cv. [obv, not really!) and I had to get up at 6 for work too...
But he has just cut a new tooth, so I'll forgive him. And even though I KNOW it's a bad habit, sleeping all in the same bed is so lovely
well, the prozac sent me a bit doolally. I went to work and was bouncing off the walls! Poor kids didn't know what hit them. And I couln't keep anything in my head for more that a minute. It was FUN!! lol
Does anyone know about TTC when on prozac? ;)

and loving the 'ratbunny' - don't be surprised if I change my name again...

bunnyhunny · 10/10/2007 20:42

and I can't remember if I told you already, but S had some skin-prick allergy tests and came up allergic to soya, dairy, dog and cat. The only 1 that they tested that he wasn't positive to was wheat.
So avoiding dairy was difficult, but now avoiding soya too?!?! We go back in 6 months to test for nuts, eggs and fish, and to see if he's outgrown any of the other allergies.
