April 2007 - As 6 months has passed, a time to reflect on just how lucky we are

It's easy to forget just how lucky we are to have beautiful healthy children

Our thoughts are with Vio and her family

And I'm sure we're all thinking of those that have been absent lately, and hoping that they know they can return to us if they need us at any time, no questions asked

PINIONS, SMOLE, MUMINA..., NUTTY, OCTO, (AND ANYONE ELSE I'VE MISSED)...........

sorry, feeling soppy

Right next time I say I am going shopping with all 3 give me a VERY BIG KICK and remind me it is just not a good idea!

I am POOPED dd1 was running round like a loon and the dt's were in bad moods and kept crying, in the end I gave up half way to town and stuck dd1 in the double buggy between Z's legs and pushed them ALL back up the VERY VERY VERY BIG hill.
That is the last time I am doing that, no wonder I do all my shopping on line!

Hi Octo and SOL

I'm just catching up. Been shopping too today, but with just S. That was bad enough TBH (can't even begin to imagine what you've been through today KHIN). Still, think I have all DH's birthday presents sorted. Also picked up the cufflinks I had made - they are completely fab and he will love them.

runnyhabbit · 12/09/2007 18:21

Dh has called to tell me sil (his sis) has had her appendix out, whilst on hols in Cyprus.

She had been complaining of a bad tummy, thought it was just bug. Called a doc, who took her straight to the local hospital, and she had it out within the hour Bil & their dd are coming home today, and then bil is going back to be with her. She won't be completely on her own as dh brother lives in Cyprus (who they were visiting)

Dh v annoyed with his mum, as this all happened Monday, and she's only rung to tell him today.

StealthPolarBear · 12/09/2007 19:28

How long is she expected to be in hospital?

maveta · 12/09/2007 20:01

just got back in from my jog [polishes halo] and about to shower, eat, watch tv and generally flop. Been doing okay with the jogging, we manage to average 3 times a week but not been doing so good on the eating rubbish side of things um.. [removes halo]

runny, what a shock and yes, I imagine he would be annoyed his mum didn´t say anything. What a horrible thing to happen anyway but on holiday glad she has family there to look after her.

Have a fab evening everyone xx

mmk · 12/09/2007 20:05

thanks to kind Ellie, I got news of the latest thread, and am writing to say how much I miss you all! Oh I still laugh about norks

Baby Rachel (wombat) is doing really well, cute, fat, bonny and sleeping 12 hours a night.

I'm still suffering muscle/back pain but doing OK.

DS is utterly distraught at having to move up a class at nursery, so we are just surviving that.

big news though, after 2 1/2 years of battle DS will now clean his teeth- oh relief isn't the word!

StealthPolarBear · 12/09/2007 20:08

MMK glad you're all doing well and at the teeth brushing!
Come back and join us!
(Although no more stories of 12 hours sleep...please )

StealthPolarBear · 12/09/2007 20:08

(I was Katy44 - if that helps )

PillockOfTheCommunity · 12/09/2007 20:10

We are now at the end of the CONI (care of next infant) programme too, which feels strange. We had special support (from baby's birth to 6 months)because our first baby in 2002 died very suddenly and unexpectedly in hospital just after he was born. So, the safe arrival of Ds and now much treasured DD is a cause for celebration.

We are ecstatic that after 13 years, 7 ivfs and total financial ruin, we are finally, finally the family that we so longed to be. How wonderful to be able to look forward, and be free of it all.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 12/09/2007 20:14

aww mmk that's made me go all tingly

Stealth
re 12 hours sleep- this will make you feel better, ds keeps waking throughout the night, having nightmares about his move up in nursery, so my long awaited sleep is not quite upon me. At least Dh and I can now go to bed at the same time.

I just can't beleive it is 6 months, where did that go?

mmk · 12/09/2007 20:18

Pillock
sorry to make you tingle! However my situation has made me more grateful for what I have. When rachel has her nap, I close her door, and hold her against me. As her breathing slows down, and she falls asleep, my whole world stands still. There is only her and me. Nothing, but nothing in the world compares to that.

I am so grateful and thrilled to be a mummy (at 46!) and treasure every second of this incredible dream. I'm not looking forward to the second dose of the terribe two's though, ah gawd!

StealthPolarBear · 12/09/2007 20:19

When is he due to move up? hope he soon settles in

PillockOfTheCommunity · 12/09/2007 20:19

I want to be like maveta and go jogging, but I'd knock myself out, and several passers by too.

Anyone want to do me a favour? I got new phones, then decided to take them back. Shop wouldn't end contract as I didnt' have two sim cards. I searched the house, and only had one. Accused them (subtly) of underhand tricks. Today, what do I find in DS toybox? yes the sim card. So, who is going to take it back to the shop and say we found in afterall? not me, Ill send DH. We have a deal that I do all the organising, but if it goes wrong, he does all the undoing/cancelling. It works just fine.

StealthPolarBear · 12/09/2007 20:21

need some advice
T does not sleep at all during the day now unless on us
Still sleeps fine at night - can throw him in his cot awake and he'll drop off with no fuss
But he falls asleep after feeding and then the minute i put him down - in cot or on playgym he's awake, or wakes with a cry 2 mins later.
he's been grumpy all day. DH let him sleep in his arms just now & hes slept since 7 so obv needed it. I need my T asleep time!! Any ideas?

mmk · 12/09/2007 20:23

stealth
he shoudl have moved up last week, but they have had to phase him in over this week instead. Monday, it is in at the deep end!

maveta · 12/09/2007 20:23

mmk it´s lovely to see you.. i´ve tried for about 5 mins to put into words what your last posts have made me feel and I´m too clumsy. Your children are as lucky to have you as you are them.
