Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

@fivebyfive2 so it’s all online. You have a schedule to follow based on your babies age - it’s really detailed with feed times etc but I’m literally just following the nap and awake times as he’s breast fed on demand and I didn’t want to change the feeding side of things. There’s lots of supporting guidance on any problems you may occur and then there’s a village which is where you can start threads and have a sleep consultant answer - so far it’s working well but the routine is quite rigid so I’m not sure how it will work when we’re back in the real world with going out and about everyday etc.

@bespokepaininthearse we’re still breastfeeding but I agree with fivebyfive2 that he’s definitely feeding more since we’re home all of the time. A lot of my friends with babies have said their babies are definitely more agitated and fussy since the lockdown so I think they definitely pick up on everything going on & how everyone is feeling at the minute.

@forevercurious, glad the programme is working well for you guys! Dh is back at work from today so I'm going to work on the nap situation now that nights are better. I had planned on waiting until after the 4 month regression, but with all this time mostly at home and on our own, seems like it's worth a try at least? I know what you mean about wanting something that can be more relaxed when things go more towards normality. Good luck!! Xx

Omg, Joe did a full tummy to back roll this morning 😀 I actually did a dance!! I'm a bit sad he did it the very first morning of his dad being at work after a full week at home, but ah well... Babies eh?!

Pic attached of him, having a brief break during his evening feed last night 🙂

We've just started to try the putting him down awake but drowsy, on the hopes he starts sleeping longer stretches at night. I don't bf but I have also noticed Noah has been loads more fussy and agitated, it's almost like he's bored of being at home with just the 4 of us. @Fivebyfive2 well done joe!!! He is beaut 💙

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 31/03/2020 17:20

Mine is currently raging on me.... After being out down drowsy but awake...

Fivebyfive2 · 31/03/2020 18:01

Joe rolled from front to back today and self settled for a day nap, both firsts 😀 Unfortunately he also did a massive poo, mid nappy change, all over his mat (and legs?!) I had to call mum for moral support 😂

bespokepaininthearse · 02/04/2020 10:27

@Fivebyfive2 amazing!! We have had a few rolls from front to back, he seems to have got the hand of that, back to front he can't get over his arm yet 🤣 how old is joe?

bespokepaininthearse · 02/04/2020 10:29

Maybe that's what it is, I thought he maybe had thrush in his mouth again but I am treating that and it's not improving so maybe it's us all being locked down together! It's so frustrating because as soon as I give him a bottle he chills right out and sinks the whole thing. I'm just worried I'm not going to be able to keep up with him now he's getting bigger

Fivebyfive2 · 02/04/2020 11:27

@bespokepaininthearse, Joe is 16 weeks today, coming up to 4 months 😀 I think he just rolled over in protest to being on his front 😂

How are you feeling about the feeding? I'm finding it harder to keep Joe focused on feeding now, he keeps looking around and grabbing at everything!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 02/04/2020 20:40

Mine will be 16 weeks on Monday.

No signs of rolling over, just grunts in protest at being on her front, and then starts yowling after a minute or so.

popgoesperfection · 02/04/2020 21:18

Noah is coming up to 18 week, has rolled a few times from front to back, I think in annoyance from being on his tummy though Grin he just discovered his feet today and was grabbing them and watching them in amazement Smile

Teamthree · 03/04/2020 14:55

@forevercurious would you possibly mind sharing an example of the nap and awake time routine from the Little Ones program? We're really struggling with naps at the minute, they're so erratic and often short and getting them to line up with a consistent bedtime seems impossible at the min!

Anyone else feel like they've hit the 4 month regression? My little girl has started waking up at random times in the night, sometimes every hour Confused it's frustrating because she goes to bed awake and falls asleep herself, and sometimes will go 4-5 hours no problem, so not sure what else we can do!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 03/04/2020 18:35

Nothing to be done about sleep regression, except wait it out.

Keep bedtime routine consistent. Keep the bedroom dark.

forevercurious · 06/04/2020 09:33

@Teamthree I’ll send you a pm.

His naps were getting better but seems to have gone backwards and nights are still just as bad. Cannot wait until this regression is over, I feel dreadful from the constant lack of sleep.

forevercurious · 06/04/2020 09:43

@Teamthree I can’t see how to attach a photo in a pm so this is part of the 3-4 month routine :) I don’t follow the feeding times though.

Even though the programme doesn’t seem to be working for us completely at the minute it’s early days and I do think once we’ve cracked it completely the night sleep will improve.

Teamthree · 06/04/2020 10:03

@forevercurious ah thank you that's much appreciated.

I'm really surprised by that schedule! I doubt my little girl could stay awake that long in between naps, she's yawning her head off after an hour! And two feeds close together in the late morning? Seems weird lol.

I'm turning into the mum I never wanted to be monitoring wake times and nap times like crazy, and this lockdown isn't helping lol.

forevercurious · 06/04/2020 11:24

@Teamthree my little boy was roughly following the naps in this - awake time for 2 hours before being put down so we’ve only had to tweak slightly. I’m trying to crack the longer lunchtime nap as he’s usually awake after an hour and 30-40 minutes.

Oh my god I’m the same, I feel totally obsessed with his sleep and I don’t know how else to handle it! if I wasn’t so sleep deprived and he slept better at night I wouldn’t be so fussed by his daytime sleep.

forevercurious · 06/04/2020 11:25

@Teamthree oops forgot to add, going from one hours to two hours is a massive jump for your little one. Maybe try and increase the awake time each day by 10 minutes or so. She may nap better if she’s awake for longer in between.

Teamthree · 06/04/2020 14:23

@forevercurious yeah totally, when she has a bad night, which is most of the times these days, I go nuts with the googling and reading.

Yeah I guess it won't hurt to try her on a longer wake time, at the mo it's about an hour first thing then 1.5 hours for the rest of the day. I'll try upping it 1.75 hours then 2.

That's a decent nap at lunch though, hopefully the night sleep isn't far behind. Do you do self settling to sleep?

forevercurious · 06/04/2020 17:10

@Teamthree good luck with extending her awake times - I hope it works for you! Yes he now self settles since starting the programme, he’d got really good at it but the past couple of days he’s cried so he’s had cuddles to calm him down and then he’s settled himself. I just cannot leave him when he cries! When he wakes in the night I just feed him as it’s quicker and easier but tonight I’m going to try not to do that as it’s not helping how often he wakes up.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 06/04/2020 17:28

Oh, I just let my one nap whenever....

She normally can't go more than about 2hrs to 2h30.

The other day, she woke at 8ish, and had two HUGE naps in the day, 2-3 hours each. Where recently she'd been having ~30mins every 2-3 hours.

And today she's had a 30 minute around 9am. A 45min around 11am, An hour around 2pm, and is now asleep on me in the sling for the last 90mins... !

I think she's having a growth spurt.

forevercurious · 06/04/2020 18:55

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps I think it’s important to do what works best for your baby, you and your family :) DS was always overtired and wouldn’t nap properly and is much better in a routine - although I do follow his lead, if he’s tired he’ll go down earlier etc. If we massively come off track we know about it! I read somewhere someone described it as a ‘rhythm’ and not routine and I like that.

popgoesperfection · 06/04/2020 21:39

We definitely go by a rhythm!! Keeps me sane and bubba seems happy enough!! Even if he doesn't sleep very well like ever

jpaws · 08/04/2020 11:35

Morning everyone :)
Hope everyone is doing okay and keeping as sane as possible. My lo seems to have about 3, sometimes 4, naps a day with his main one being late morning/middle of the day and it can be for a couple of hours. The others are more like 30-45mins. Saying that though, he only had about 3 hours in total yesterday so went to bed at 8pm and got up at 8am this morning - with smiles!!
Hopefully we can replicate that again although I sometimes feel like I can't keep him occupied all the time? Does anyone else feel like that? He has just been bought, off my parents, a bouncer which came yesterday so hopefully that will help. He doesn't seem to want to roll over or crawl - just wants you to help him stand up all the time!

Teamthree · 08/04/2020 12:08

So I think I've discovered our sleep problem. Yesterday afternoon in a bit of a fluke she managed to fall asleep herself without her dummy, and she napped for 3 hours! And I now need to put the dummy back in 3-5 times every night. I'm dreading getting rid of it, we tried last night half heartedly and she just cried and cried. I know it's gonna have to be CIO.

@jpaws yep I feel like I'm struggling to keep my LO entertained throughout the day. She gets bored of all her toys/play gym after 10 mins and just wants me to walk round holding her upright all day! I'm definitely considering getting a jumperoo in the near future.

Fivebyfive2 · 09/04/2020 08:38

Bambino was wide awake 3 till 5 this morning 🙁 Finally got him to sleep by cradling him while wearing my big dressing gown and singing beach boys songs 😂 We have his jabs this afternoon too, dreading it, but at least it is the last set for a while.

How's everyone getting on?? Xx
