Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

@Fivebyfive2 hope you & your DP feel better soon :)

@popgoesperfection it’s hard going isn’t it! I just feel so down and negative about everything which obviously isn’t helping but I dunno what else to do tbh! Although he slept from 9 until 2 last night before starting his hourly/2 hour wake ups!

popgoesperfection · 24/03/2020 11:15

It is so knackering !!! Just the right timing for older ds to be home too with the schools shutting 🙈 have you started putting lo to bed before you go up or does he stay downstairs with you until you go up?

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 26/03/2020 07:10

Ours (14wks) is put to bed at 8pm, I it DH stays until she's asleep. She's in a side along crib.

She has recently taken to sleeping through until 6:30... Shock

popgoesperfection · 26/03/2020 08:30

Oh wow @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps I must say I am sooo jealous !!! So you leave her until you go to bed?

Fivebyfive2 · 26/03/2020 09:35

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps, that's fantastic! The last few nights Joe has fallen asleep about 7.30 and just having one wake up, anytime between 12.30 and 2.30,then back to sleep until about 6. We take him up to bed with us when we're ready, usually about 8.30, rock and roll 😎😂

We're having to totally self isolate, as we both started Coughing on Sunday. Dh is OK, but I've started feeling achy a bit warm ☹️

Joe seems ok, think he's having a spurt, he's feeding loads! He's being very smiley at the moment 😀

How's everyone coping with lockdown? Xxx

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 26/03/2020 10:17

@popgoesperfection
Sometimes we leave her, sometimes I go to bed at that time! Sometimes I chill out on the bed for a bit. Just depends really.

@Fivebyfive2. We're not counting our chickens yet...! Might be just down to her being a little bit poorly. But... You never know 🤞

popgoesperfection · 26/03/2020 11:32

Oh no @Fivebyfive2 hope your feeling ok. I've had a cough since Saturday so have been isolating since then, so glad for the nice weather ☀️ @AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps I did go to bed myself when lo went to bed, I think I'll try and establish a bit of a bedtime routine from now.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 27/03/2020 10:25

I'm really sad for DD, the only social interaction she now has (and physical contact) is with me and DH.

:(

Fivebyfive2 · 27/03/2020 12:03

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps, same for Joe! He seems to be happy enough at the moment though. We're doing video calls with people, not sure if he'll recognise the voices etc but it's nice for grandparents and people to see him.

I'm worried about his 3rd round of jabs, they fall when the lockdown is still on. My mum came to the other 2 but can't come this time so I'll be alone ☹️ Dh said he'd try to get time off but with us being quarantined for 2 weeks I don't want him to risk them being funny with him (his place is classed as key work)

popgoesperfection · 27/03/2020 13:27

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps I feel the same, and I swear hes struggling to share me with older ds!! I'm finding trying to divide my time between them hard going as well as home school and keep myself sane (alongside doing housework, washing etc) and not seeing anyone is driving me mad never mind these two 😳

forevercurious · 27/03/2020 14:11

I feel the same, I’m so sad for DS that our usual groups and classes have stopped. DP is still having to go to work each day so it’s literally me and DS all day. I’m worried he’s going to get bored - I’m trying to do different things with him each day but the days are so long to fill!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 27/03/2020 14:23

Oh, I don't think your baby will be bored. If he's got you singing and talking, going for walks, a couple of toys that's more than plenty!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 27/03/2020 14:24

Mine is sitting in her bouncer in the garden right now... Completely oblivious to the outside, fiddling with her hungry Caterpillar!

Comps83 · 27/03/2020 16:13

We've got jabs due next week too
I'm sure I read somewhere that they only want one person going to the doctor's surgery . Just like only one person per household is allowed to the supermarket now. DH is wanting to take him this time if he isn't at work
Apart from the garden I haven't been out for over a week now . I know we are meant to be allowed one bit of exercise but I'm still reluctant to go out .

Fivebyfive2 · 28/03/2020 15:35

Waaaaaagh we put Joe on his tummy for tummy time today, he's been getting better with it recently... He rolled onto his side 😀

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 28/03/2020 16:12

Wheeeeee! He's rolled over! Slippery slope now!

I'm not encouraging mine... I like putting her down and leaving her there, knowing she won't go anywhere! Blush

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 29/03/2020 05:45

Does anyone else's little one not really enjoy their bath...?

Mine just lies there looking like she's barely tolerating the whole fiasco....

ninox3 · 29/03/2020 06:05

We're 2 weeks in on Tuesday...

Safe to say I need a skip!
I have cleaned EVERY single cubord you can think off and organised every single room in my house and the kids wardrobes (we have quite a big house so has took some time) and even my garden to the point iv detoled and hoovered my Astro! Hahaha
Gave away tons of the kids clothes and toys and I mean bags of the stuff. How do we end up with so much shit ? And I know I feel so fresh after my clear out but it'll be the same before Christmas comes around
But

DS4 is climbing the walls as he gets very bored VERY easily and we've ran out of ideas that are different to entertain him- last night we found slime for a change though an he was made up so we're now waiting for the slime baff to give that a go!

dD2 is a little cow! Who knew girls had such attitude from the get go!!!! But I'm all fairness she's helped me do the housework and washin etc she seems to find it fun and I guess it's her time with mum and making pars shoots when making beds etc but everything is followed it either No mummy or WHYYYYYY

My December baby boy.... he's a dream and I'd happily have 10 of him. Suppose he has be laid back live in our house but we've just started to ween cos he's a super chunk and no longer fits in 0-3 😩 it breaks my heart he's grown to quick!!!

But DH keeps saying he wants another, I do love the thought but I said not for atLeast 6 years now.... anyone else planning more already or you not as daft as my DH? Xx

Comps83 · 29/03/2020 16:41

I'm worried about going to the doctors on Tuesday for his jabs
I haven't left the house for 1.5 weeks and haven't been anywhere like a shop etc since the strict restrictions came in
Just had a message from my grandmother worried and saying I shouldn't be taking him
I'm due a smear test too and not sure what the hell is happening with those now

Fivebyfive2 · 29/03/2020 16:58

@Comps83, Joe has jabs on 8th so restrictions will still be in place, I think as long as you are OK (no new symptoms etc) and keep a safe distance from others (gp surgery will likely monitor this anyway) you should be OK to take him xxx

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps, omg I was starting to think Joe was alone in being mostly unimpressed with baths 😂 We're hoping as he gets bigger and can sit up/splash around he will start to enjoy them?! Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 30/03/2020 12:38

The last 2 nights, after Joe has had his middle of the night feed, he's still been awake. We tried putting him down, wrapped up and with his sounds on... He got himself to sleep both times!! 😀 Not sure if it will continue, but, 🤞Need to crsck the daytime naps, but one thing at a time!!

Dh is back at work tomorrow, full isolation over. Good because I can have a walk, bad because I'll be on my own with Joe all day but hopefully it will be OK. He'll be sick of me soon 😂

Hope everyone is doing OK xxxx

forevercurious · 30/03/2020 13:58

We’re doing okay - I’m finding it hard to be stuck in the house all day just me and DS but I’m also so grateful to have him and be able to keep him as safe as I can during all of this. The days seem so long at times!

It’s so nice when they start to self settle isn’t it. We’ve started the little ones sleep programme and he now self settles before all naps and his bedtime. However he is still waking frequently in the night but I like to think it will get better in a couple of weeks.

bespokepaininthearse · 31/03/2020 00:07

Hi all, I've been quite absent on here recently! How is everyone coping with these bizarre times? Ds is 13 weeks, he had his jabs last week and dealt with them really well although I think they have made him feel a bit under the weather tbh, he is so fussy with feeding. Is anyone else still breastfeeding? We are fine at night, and in the morning, but then afternoon and early evening I just seem unable to fill him up, he is having to be topped up on formula more than ever before I'm afraid if he is having a growth spurt, I'm not going to be able keep up with the amount of milk he needs. Anyone else been through this?

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 31/03/2020 02:15

I stopped BFing this last week as DD was taking so little from me. She has transitioned to Formula over about 5-6 weeks after little to no weight gain on BF alone :'(

Fivebyfive2 · 31/03/2020 06:26

@forevercurious, glad the programme has helped, is that a book or like a course?? Hope he starts doing longer stretches soon

@bespokepaininthearse, I'm breastfeeding, currently at just over 15 weeks and just coming out of a spurt. He's always fed and fussed more from about 3pm too! I think as long as you keep feeding, your supply will adjust to what baby needs? Also, I've heard loads of people say their babies are feeding more since the lockdown; maybe they're picking up on the vibe?! Or it could be that usually they'd be in the pram / car sea / at baby groups, but now they're mostly at home so just want to feed?
