Hi All,

Thought I’d just start a December 2019 babies thread for those who have given birth in December and want to catchup/chat/rant/need support etc.

We are 11 days in...!
How is everyone doing?

Mine is 13 weeks and has self settled for a little while... It started, because I out her down in her Moses Basket and I needed a wee, so left her, she wailed for a bit, bit I couldn't do anything! I was desperate!! .... She piped down, I got back and she was asleep...! So will give her a half a minute to a minute or so before picking back up/cuddling...

Fivebyfive2 · 17/03/2020 05:32

The run of good sleep has screeched to a halt! Joe was up at 11.45, 3.15 and 4.45 ☹️ Soooo tired!! Also, I'm probably over thinking, but he was dribbling, furiously chewing his hands and proper screaming yesterday ... Is it too early for teething?!! Xxx

forevercurious · 17/03/2020 09:54

I’m feeling your pain @fivebyfive2,He went down for the night at 8:50 we were up at 12:40, 2:10, 3:15, 3:50 and then awake for the day at 7! I am so exhausted. I’ve actually started a thread in the sleep topic about it - I’m struggling to know if it’s normal, what else I could be doing or even just someone to say yep what you’re doing is okay!

December2019 · 17/03/2020 15:12

Same here the hand sucking was driving me mad last night, he would go to sleep and id get back in bed close my eyes and i hear him sucking away which in turn wakes him up 🤣... if I didn't laugh I'd probably cry, my 15 month old has tonsillitis too... I'm not sure about teething I asked my health visitor and she just said he's found his hands and realises he can use them, I think it's the start of them trying to self soothe...
not in my household ha!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 18/03/2020 04:06

Mine is sucking her right fingers too!! 13 weeks.

Must be 'normal'!

popgoesperfection · 18/03/2020 04:56

Same here, sleeping horrendous atm, up every 2 hours and I currently haven't been back to sleep since 3am 😳 completely normal but struggling 😴

forevercurious · 18/03/2020 20:07

Oh yes DS is finger sucking and woke up 8 times last night!! It must be the 4 month sleep regression

December2019 · 18/03/2020 20:41

My little one is currently not letting me put him down at allll he can fall asleep on me but as soon as I try to put him in his bouncer or crib he wakes up... tired is an understatement lol

GrannyClanger · 18/03/2020 21:46

Exactly the same here! T is dribbling, chewing on hands and has been grouchy all day. Not sleeping well either. I am at my wits end, don’t know what to do and feel rubbish about it. We’ve been trying a bedtime routine too, but that hasn’t worked either. Only place he wants to sleep at the moment is in his bouncy chair...
I’m trying to get him to sleep in his bedside crib too, but haven’t had much success, so he’s still in the bed with me. I’m stressing myself out worrying about it all too!

popgoesperfection · 18/03/2020 22:15

Glad to hear it's not just us. Can't get ds in his next to me so still in Moses basket waste of money that was. We need to start on a proper bedtime routine but not sure there's any point until we're out of the 4 month sleep regression

GrannyClanger · 18/03/2020 22:38

The Little Ones sleep programme keeps coming up on my FB and insta feeds. It’s £50 but I’m getting more and more tempted! 12 weeks here so thinking there won’t be sleep regression for us because it’s never got any better in the first place! Eek!

Teamthree · 19/03/2020 17:00

@GrannyClanger omg same about the Little Ones programme. It's forever on my Facebook, I've literally hovered over the buy button on their website so many times lol. My LO is 13 weeks 4 days and I'm sure that we've entered the 4 month regression because she now scream the place down when I try and put her down to sleep. She used to self settle for night time at least 50%, now she needs constant rocking till in a deep sleep. And will not nap for more than 30-40 mins without constant patting and rocking in the sling.

Comps83 · 20/03/2020 07:22

Anyone else struggling with cradle cap ?

forevercurious · 20/03/2020 07:48

The little ones looks to tempting, especially the 30 day money back guarantee! It seems as if this is a tricky age for everyone.

I’m desperate for sleep but don’t want to start ‘bad habits’ like co sleeping etc even though I know I’d get more sleep. I’m hoping this passes soon!

Comps83 · 20/03/2020 08:42

I got a tummy time cushion and he much prefers that to bring plonked face down on the floor . He's able to fully hold himself up on it now

jpaws · 20/03/2020 08:45

Morning everyone :)
I haven't posted in a while so hope everyone is doing as well as they can. My little one actually slept through 5 out of 7 nights last week but has been more miss than hit this week. Still (fingers crossed) only seems to really wake up for one feed early hours, 2am this morning, and then awake anything from 5:30-7 for the day. He then seems to be happy awake for an hour and a half before needing his first nap. I still have him in the moses basket downstairs for his naps but he is nearly filling it now so will need to get something different. He had his second lot of immunisations yesterday which weren't as bad as his first and was told he doesn't need calpol this time. To be fair, he had a much better day yesterday than last time. He did mess around having his morning bottle though so went for them only having 1.5oz from waking and then only had another 1.5oz afterwards.
He also has got cradle cap which went quite bad the other week but I use baby shampoo, massage it in & rinse it off, and then brush over with a soft baby brush. I bought some baby oil as heard that if you leave that on overnight and then rinse off in the morning it helps but haven't done that yet as it seems to be getting better already.
I've more of an issue with one of his eyes. They were both gunky from early weeks and the left one cleared up quickly with the cooled boiled water but the right has been a nightmare. Saw Dr after imms yesterday and I now have drops to put in to see if it helps it. THAT is great fun trying to get them in four times a day haha!

Fivebyfive2 · 22/03/2020 01:45

@jpaws,how's your little one's eye doing? Hope the drops have worked? Mist of your post could be me, it sounds like we're at a very similar stage with sleep and even the cradle cap! Xx

Joe has been going to sleep about 7.30,we take him up to bed with us about 8.30 and he usually wakes when we move him so has a quick feed before going in his snuzpod. Then it's a feed about 1/2am and then down again until anything from 5.30/7.30. Anyone else find the middle of the night wake can take forever?! It can be anything from 45 to 90 mins here, depending on nappy, wind, how hungry he is.

Happy mothers day ladies, I hope you're all staying safe 🙂

jpaws · 22/03/2020 14:27

@Fivebyfive2 the drops do seem to be working. The eye still gets a bit matted but to say it's only been 3.5 days of drops it's doing alright. They do sound pretty similar to how they are behaving. We tend to stay downstairs until 9ish (me usually) and I will take him upstairs then. He also sometimes wakes up when I move him, if he has been asleep a couple of hours already, so I sometimes change him then but quite often he drops straight back to sleep. The feed in the middle of the night can take about 30 mins for me. Change of nappy before his bottle (as he does sick up bits) and then he has the bottle, winds and back to the cot. The problem I have sometimes is he then decides he is wide awake for 10 minutes so charters away! It is so hard to ignore him and I usually just watch him for a bit and smile at him lol.

Happy first Mothers Day all xx

forevercurious · 22/03/2020 18:15

Hope everyone has had a lovely Mother’s Day today Flowers

forevercurious · 23/03/2020 13:41

How is everyone coping with the social distancing / social isolation. I hadn’t realised how much I relied on my weekly routine of groups and classes to keep me sane. I’m finding it hard to entertain a fussy 3 month old who’s hit the regression and be at home all day. Any ideas of how to fill the time would be appreciated. I’ve got some new toys & a ball pit.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/03/2020 18:16

Bored senseless ...

House has never been cleaner!!

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 23/03/2020 18:17

Do all those things you've been meaning to get round to

forevercurious · 23/03/2020 18:24

I’d love to get round to doing all the bits that need doing but DS’s naps have shortened dramatically and he’s so whiny / whingey lately. I cannot wait for him to come out the other side of this phase!

Fivebyfive2 · 23/03/2020 20:27

Well! Dh has a cough, blocked nose and bad stomach and I've got a dry throat and tickley cough, so today has been day1 of 14 of full on isolation for us ☹️

Hopefully we'll be using the time to clean, sort Joe's clothes and room out a bit (he's still in our room, but thought we'd get organised!) and we're working through lord of the rings dvds!

Joe has been a bit fussy this afternoon but was very smiley earlier, I think he just got overtired. He conked out at 6 and is still asleep, we'll see how the night goes.

popgoesperfection · 23/03/2020 22:02

I feel you @forevercurious !!! We're exactly the same here, I can't seem to put him down for longer than 10 minutes before he's screaming... can't wait for this phase to pass!!!
