Morning all

Hope Willow is feeling better Lupins and that you got some sleep!

Benson - glad the op went well and JW hopefully you will get a nice rest when you get there.

MrsJB - a bit of good news for your friend.

Scoot - wish I was going clubbing in Brighton - but I suppose that would require energy, which I don't seem to have much of at the mo!

Getting plenty of sleep just feel tired all the time and it hit me yesterday I have three children with very different needs. DD1 needs money spending on her school stuff (which we still need to buy a lot of) and supervising on the PC, DD2 needs me to play with her as much as possible and C needs feeding 3 hourly during the day and is not sleeping much between feeds so needs entertaining. DP is lovely but needs his tea, pack up (which I do most days but not all) and then its time to wash up and then its bath and bed time again!

Going out today to try and get some bits for DD1 and to her new school to pick up her uniform and to take her blazer to a mending lady to have the sleeves taken up and to get DD2 some school shoes. Feeling tired at the thought of it!

cameroonmama · 30/08/2007 10:12

Lups, hope Willow is feeling better, there is nothing worse than when they are sick.

Sky, I sympathise with the feeling tired at the thought of entertaining/cooking/cleaning and even going out, are you sure you are not a bit anaemic? That can wipe you out but is easily remedied with some iron supplements.

AbbyLou · 30/08/2007 11:43

Hi guys I fear I'm becoming a bit of a fair-weather poster too. I never seem to get the time to get on here. Dh works from home and so seems to hog the computer nearly all the time!
R is doing well and still sleeping about 12 hours at night. The last few days she has been very unsettled during the day though. She hardly seems to sleep and it's getting harder and harder to keep her happy. I did think she may be teething as she is very very dribbly but I can't see any signs of anything in her gums. Ds has gone out with grandma and grandad today so I have the day to fcus entriely on her and see if I can work out what is the matter.
We are off to Ely this weekend to stay with my cousin and his family. They live in Ireland normally but have a house in Ely as he comes over in the week to study for his degree. They are all over here this week and I have never met his daughter who is 3 so it should be a nice weekend. Just hope R behaves herself.

madeindevon2 · 30/08/2007 14:02

hi did you miss me!? bet you didnt notice i wasnt there! been in partly sunny devon (near barnstaple for those who know the area) since the beginning of the month now back in the south east again (with internet). not sure if im happy to be back or not? can't believe another month has gone by and that means another month closer to going back to work.(sob sob)
Freddie is now 12 weeks and 2 days old. not been taking boob very well last few days. not sure why.
ive started giving him a bottle of formula a his bedtime feed (or rather dh does) does that make me a bad mum? as much as i like bf im starting to worry whether hes getting enough.
also he is dribbling and has hands, bib, anything in mouth all the time....maybe teething??
so what have i missed!?
(oh and i weighed myself....big mistake... i weigh almost 2.5 stone more than when i got married 16 months ago....shocking...going on hols to spain a week on saturday so gonna be very careful what i eat this week but diet starts in earnest when i get back. prob do fat club (aka weight watchers online) it worked for me once before...

Mrsjaffabiffa · 30/08/2007 15:46

Of course we've missed you MID. Only the usuall happening on here, lg&t and TYg and SOH talking filthy porn etc..... The rest of us worrying about weight, sleepless nights and dribble.
My dh's auntie lives in Barnstable, never been myself though. Have a lovely holiday.

Tommorow the family go home. It will be sad and very quiet here after, but stangely nice to get back into a normal routine.

I'm doing Slimming World online, it's great, I haven't had a good couple of weeks as cooking for 15 is bad enough every meal without trying to fit me into the occassion. I am going hell for leather after tommorow though, 2.5stone by Christmas is my target.

lups, poor Willow, I hope she is ok now.

Hi everyone! Guess what, I got a job! I haven't worked in two years, and am so sad to leave my babies, but It will be good for me to get out of the house for a bit. So it looks like I'll work 4 days a week, and mostly the late shift, so I can still have my mornings with the kids (which is when they are most fun anyway) Dh will get them for bedtime (he, he) He will have no idea what hit him.

We are also trying to sell our house and I've found the perfect house for us to move into. It's an 1890's house inside it's a total fixer-upper, but it has a large kitchen, dining room, living room, and 5-6 bedrooms. And it's only $170,000 which is about $60,000 less than our current house.

DH and I are fighting constantly because we are doing a lot of work to sell our current house. I just can't wait to be done.

Lupins71 · 30/08/2007 18:35

MKG well done on the job, im sure it will be good for you

MID good to hear from you

MJB good luck with the diet

Willow is still sicky today, were were up until 9am then got a bit of sleep, got dp up at 10.15 and i went o bed until 12.45 - lurvely!!

I have about 10lb to loose (dont forget my baby is about 2 months older than some of yours!!) am quite pleased tho as i havent really been being that good - I will go crazy if i dont eat chocolate everyday - its my only vice so i dont care!!

Right off to do more ironing and sort out the huge amount of ebay stuff - am trying to get dp to sell some of his boys toys

scootermum · 30/08/2007 19:43

Well done MKG!!

Christ alone knows how much weight ive left to lose..but about two dress sizes anyway..I might join you on the slimming world Mrs JB..also when we move I am going to buy Lily a trampoline,(for some reason she calls it a 'chimp')as she is mad for bouncing at the moment, and then I intend to jump on it for about an hour a day as have heard its very good excercise!

Have purchased for the weekend a new pair of jeans..skinny ones..(God help me) and some very high shoes as I need all the help I can get and I have it on very good authority that the higher the shoe the thinner you look, (Gok Kwan said so in Grazia this week).Hence I have purchased a pair of stilts!

Poor old Willow-hope she feels a bit better now Lups..

Have a nice weekend Abby..

House looks like a bomb has hit it..ought to tidy really as PIL coming tomorrow to help DH with girls..Cant much be bothered however..

aprilmeadow · 30/08/2007 20:02

I'm back! Had a fab day with MIL at the Sanctuary. Had myself a 50min Aromatherapy massage, pedicure & facial. Nice a relaxed. Had to take my pump with me and every time i felt my boobs tingle i had to make a visit to the changing rooms. Dh coped well with Ella, she didnt even drink all the milk i left - quite pleased as i was worried that she would need to move onto the formula if i hadnt left enough.

MKG well done on getting a job.

Lupins, hope Willow has a better night - and you for that matter

MID & Abby good to see you back online

MrsJB, good news for your friend. Enjoy your last night with all the family. Well done to H as well. Ella has taken to sleeping on her front as well!

Scoot, you will need to post some piccies of you all dressed up

InTheseShoes · 30/08/2007 20:07

Got a stone and a half to pre-baby weight. Been really concentrating on what I eat, when and why this last 10 days, and it has made me make better choices. Someone said I looked like I had lost weight today so maybe it's helping. Don't know, because I only weighed myself today, but maybe.

I have a TMI question. Tonight when I went to the toilet there was a huge,um, deposit, in my pants not unlike a "show". First I thought that I must be agressively ovulating,(had a slight version of this last month, followed by mild spotting and mild cramps two weeks later but not a proper period) but then I wondered, could it be my show? Because I had a planned caesarean, my show never happened, can it come away now? TMI over now, sorry about that.

Glad to hear of your friend Mrs JB. Woo- hoo for the house MKG. Welcome back MID! Hello to everyone else mwah

cameroonmama · 30/08/2007 21:15

Oooo ITS, I can't help you I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone else will.. I had an elective section too and not had anything like that.

Hello Abbylou and MID. And well done MKG! What kind of work will you be doing? I can't believe the price of houses in the US I am quite

Scoot, listen in your quest to loose weight it is imperative you eat 2 boxes of petits coeurs before you start (just to boost your morale) and they are waiting here especially for you Let me know your email address..

Lups I hope Willow gets better soon, poor wee thing.

Finally I managed (with the help of dd) to put up J's new cot, and I treated him to a new cot bumper and mobile (so he didn't get the third hand stuff of dd and ds!) He was so impressed he fell asleep. Actually he has been a bit grumpy today, I guess you can't be a perfect baby all the time.

scootermum · 31/08/2007 09:09

No I dont know either-unless maybe a bit of retained placenta thats just emerged? Not sure if thats poss with a section or not?Maybe call Dr and see though just to be on the safe side?

[email protected] my lovely Cam..petis couers are calorie free y'know-well I have never seen a fat french woman so that must be true..

Glad you had a nice day yesterday April..I am looking forward to my visit to the treatment rooms in Brighton tomorrow I must say..and am booked in for exactly what you had spookily..cant wait!

M slept from 7 till 7 last night..but even better and more amazingly so did L!She is normally up for 5.30 so im not sure what to do with her now as I guess she wont want her morning nap..still am not knocking it as am not a great lover of the pre 6 start!

SKYTVADDICT · 31/08/2007 09:59

Morning all

Glad you had a nice day AM. I am planning a day a Eden Hall with friends but not until end of the year/beginning of next year for our respective birthdays. Already looking forward to it!

ITS - don't know about your "deposit". Possible trip to Drs?

Hope you have a good weeked Scoot.

Not got a lot on today except sewing names into blazers etc!

Oh, and I have about 3 stone to lose - but did have before C was born anyway. Would have liked to lose it before I am 40 but don't think there is much chance now before December

madeindevon2 · 31/08/2007 10:18

i'm tired and feeling bit fed up.
baby freddie didnt have a good night and when i got in shower this morning it went cold. seems boiler not working. they coming out btween 12 and 6 today to have a look. (miracles will never cease...coming out same day....)
freddie had bath and went down later than usual coz dh late home from work and he does bath and bedtime feed (past 2 weeks been giving bottle of formula at bedtime feed)
anyway. bed about 8.15. woke at 11.30.have him feed. put down again. woke again at 1.50. checked nappy. fed again. fell asleep on me. (i fell asleep too). back in own bed by 3am. woke and unstettled but dh settled him with a soother.
im not sure whats up with little freddie but there are a few theories...dh reckons teeth coming as his hand is in mouth all time and was biting teet on oneside last night when trying to feed.... im not convinced about this one.
im worried that i shouldnt have introduced a bottle of formula at bedtime and that its in some way unsettled him...irrational i know....
mum says hes just being a baby and that he's so good most of the time i should expect a few bad nights
and that his digestion is maturing now (he does one big poo once a day now rather than 3 or 4 small ones)
also he only fed for 10 mins this morning. i left him a bit then tried again. still wouldnt have more from the left side but fed on right side for another 10 mins ish. he used to feed much longer....worry hes not getting enough

anyway. anyone else got any thoughts on this?
i worry...
he's just over 12 weeks old

madeindevon2 · 31/08/2007 10:21

ITS - not sure....maybe something just worked its was free....if in any doubt go to docs just to put mind at rest. did you keep it to show them? (dont they always ask that kinda thing?) or what about nhs direct? might they have some answers?
seriously tho if it was me i would go to doc as would just be niggling at back of mind for ages and i would just worry....

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 12:18

madeindevon, sorry to hear you're worried about Freddie. What your mum says is what I tell myself when my ds is grizzly or wakeful. He was due in April but born 4 May so 17 weeks today I think, and he's been showing teething signs for several weeks - I understand that babies can show such signs for a long time before their teeth show through. So, your dh could have a point too.

Don't feel too guilty about the formula, I'm sure you're doing a great job (though I'm not a feeding expert, I failed quite badly at breastfeeding ) but the things you mention do sound like teething or just being grizzly anyway for no apparent reason, not anything you have or haven't done.

Take care

scootermum · 31/08/2007 12:52

M is vry grizzly for her as well at the mo, althoughin the day rathr than at night..think the teeth thin could be a goer, lots of dribble/hand chewing here too..

Also growth spurt?

He may just be settling in back at home after being away?It always take mine a few days toget acclimatized again...

Sure it isnt the formula but you are bound to fret, thats what we do [grin

When you are back from Spain we MUST meetup

Well off to see how my stilts fit into my weekend bag!

Have a lovely weekend all xx

Bensonbluebird · 31/08/2007 14:01

MKG - congratulations on your job, fingers crossed your new house works out, you could buy a garage for $170,000 round here!
ITS - no advice to offer, but I'd phone NHS direct, I've found them very helpful on the couple of occasions I've called.

Aidan is also dribbling for Scotland and shoving everything in his mouth (he sucks my thumb when I'm carrying him in the sling) - I think it is the beginning of teething and also that their mouths are their way of exploring things at the moment.

Just woken up! only taking short naps at the moment, hope he gets over it before it becomes too much of a habit.

aprilmeadow · 31/08/2007 16:12

Ella is exactly the same as all the other grizzly babies. Up 5 times last night between 11.30 & 3.30. Been totally grumpy today, except when we have had visitors! Tried her on a tiny bit of baby rice at lunch time and she wasnt all that keen. Think i might leave it a week before trying again. Does anyone have a volume remote that works on babies?

Have a great weekend Scoot.

elkiedee · 31/08/2007 16:40

I'm about to take D out for a little walk, it normally works brilliantly at least while we're out. If you find that baby remote control, April, let me know where, I want one.

cameroonmama · 31/08/2007 17:04

another unsettled baby here last night..could it be the full moon?

have fun scoot, i will email you soon.

cameroonmama · 31/08/2007 17:19

MID I also meant to say that they become more efficient at feeding the bigger they get so it becomes quicker. J takes only about 5 mins on each side, (he's 16 weeks)so I'm sure Freddie is getting enough.

Also they do a growth spurt around 12/16 weeks so it could be that unsettling him. Or as your mum says and I said to dh yesterday about J, they can't be good and easy all the time

MKG · 31/08/2007 17:20

Thanks everyone. My job is not that exciting. I'm going to be a supervisor at a clothing store, so not that great, but it has good benefits and a flexible schedule because for now I just need to get out of the house a little.

The house is not that great now, but it has a lot of potential. It needs A LOT of work, but it'll be worth it. We're going to look at it today, hopefully dh likes it as much as I do. A house like that in this area wouldn't go for less than $500,000, but because it's in a city that isn't so nice it's a lot less. However the good thing is that it is in the historic district, and there is a real movement to bring the city back to what it used to be, so it would be smart to buy now while it's still cheap. My aunt bought a house in a similar area and at the time her neighbors were buying for about $50,000, a few months ago one of them sold for $1,000,000. So there is a lot of potential in the area.

I've declared Cruz as officially sleeping through. He has been waking up between 4 and 6 (usually around 5am) So as long as 5am stays the norm he's sleeping through. He also has a quick feed and goes back down until 8am.

madeindevon2 · 31/08/2007 17:53

good luck with the job mk

have a great weekend scoot! yes defo meet up end of sep when i am back from mallorca.

thanks to all for your suggestions....had forgotton about growth spurt around now.

full moon.....a lot to be said for that i reckon.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 31/08/2007 18:37

Yeah, like a crap summer....... It is said round these parts that if there are 13 full moons in a year then it is a bad summer. Guesse how many there are this year?

It's oh so quiet here now. The family went this afternoon, it was My nieces cried. Looking forward to lying on the sofa this evening watching tv though, haven't been able to do that for 5 weeks.
