TYG have you looked at the bayamo, not really classed as a stroller as it has air tyres at the back, sort of similar to a frog, if you are looking to use it with the car seat and not the seat unit (which doesnt fold up) then it can take up little space in the boot as all the wheels come off so you are left witht the frame -and you can get the adapters for the maxi cosi cabrio - i love mine, its not umbrella fold, i can take some measurements if you are interested, also has carrycot but tbh Arlen is pretty much out of it so i dont suppose you would get much use from one, they go pretty cheaply to, i got mine (not including car seat & adapters) for £60 BARGAIN

My little guy had another good night, dream feed at 12 (was in bed at 11 but had to do some potter reading) and slept through till willow come in waking up the world at 7, cant believe i am so lucky with this baby, willow was nothing like this even when i stopped bf with her she was still up 2/3 times a night when she was one!!

Hope everyone else had a good nights sleep

Is anyone elses dc's starting school for the 1st time this week, Im sure im going to be in tears at the school (quite common im told) woke up this morning with the realisation she is going to be off having all these other influences in her life - feeling but gutted by it already, i hate the way schools are these days, there doenst seem to be much space or time for the individual or their creativness, its all fasttraking for exams as school figure hate it hate it hate it, if i had more confidence i would home ed but it feels like too much of an important thing to take on when i have no real experience in teaching - altho that said she has done pretty well so far,

have a good day all xx

cameroonmama · 03/09/2007 08:44

Lups, good luck for Willow's first day, it is emotional, more so for the mum than the children My dd is going into yr1 and absolutely adores school, her school is quite creative and she is always making things yet has still learnt to read at a cracking pace. I guess each school/teacher is different.

Thanks for your loola offer, I may well be interested, though I wouldn't need the car seat as I have an Elios and adapters which fit on my mahoosive 3 wheeler which is in storage with most of our stuff (useful I know..)

TYG, sorry you are having such a tough time with the church, I hope it gets sorted soon. It still wasn't easy for us to arrange J's in December as we too are new in the neighbourhood but wanted to have it in the neighbouring c of e church where the dc go to school, and we have been for a couple of services,we need permission from the vicar of our parish (who has never met us)and have to be 'vetted' by the lay preacher of the church we want inspite of her seeing me every Friday at school assembly (only 90 kids at the school and I am the only parent with a new baby), plus the usual baptism course... they don't make it easy do they??

aprilmeadow · 03/09/2007 09:43

TYG, what a nightmare!

Lups, I got a new car in March but there were a few things i was un happy with and to cut a long boring story short we decided to get me a new car that fitted everything i wanted - picking it up at 11

Think the baby rice worked as Ella only woke once - 2am and then 7.15

Elkie, TYG wasnt early. Lupins, Charley, myself and i think Sky were all April instead of May.

SuperMonkey · 03/09/2007 10:18

April - glad you had a good night, I was waiting with baited breath to see how you got on as I don't think we'll be waiting until 26 weeks. The boy is 17 weeks this week, I think we might be giving it a try soon.

Mum2G · 03/09/2007 11:08

Hi all, i would be very grateful if anyone has any advice please on the following: For the last two days G has only been taking three oz of his sma gold at each feed, he starts sucking and then doesn't want it, i put teat back in and he starts sucking again, but then after a few sucks doesn't want it. I have changed his teats to no 3 teats for faster flow but still the same prob, he is having hungry baby milk for his bedtime feed and his 4 am feed, do you think he might not want the other milk now? He drinks most of the hungry baby feed down but only 3 or 4 oz of the sma gold, before he was having 5 or 6 oz per feed. TIA

Lupins71 · 03/09/2007 13:03

CAM - no problem, i would happily sell without the car seat, am not in a hurry to sell it so just let me know what you decide

AM hope the new car is good, well done with Ellas rice

Mum2G maybe he is windy halfway through with the gold milk or maybe he is getting fuller on the hungry baby so not needing the gold or maybe he just prefers the flavour of the hungry milk

LWandLottie · 03/09/2007 14:56

Hello

TYG what a nighmare with the baptism! I'm not religous in any way at all and haven't had C Christened but I find your treatment qiute shocking. I thought they would be only too happy to welcome a baby into their church. Especially as religion seems to be less popular now than it used to be, I thought they'd be wanting to get as many people as possible on board. Mind, if they have had bad experiences of parents doing whatever they can to get their children into the popular Catholic school then you can kind of understand why they may be a bit more cautious. Even so, I'd write to the head minister (is that what they call him/her?) and explain how you've been made to feel. This woman sounds like a bit of a busybody on a power trip if you ask me. Good luck, chin up. Don't let her get to you.

AM check you out with your new car! I still need to learn to drive lol! Well done to Ella eating her baby rice.

M2G it sounds like one of two things. He's either full up on the hungry baby milk to want the gold, or he prefers the hungry baby milk and doesn't want the gold. C's been playing with her teat recently and I think it's because I've put her onto Aptamil extra for hungrier babies and she's too full to drink more! Think I may need to change her teats as well as she seems to get frustrated with them, I'm guessing it's because the flow may not be fast enough for her?

Lupins well done to A sleeping through, Willow will be fine though. Easy for me to say I know as I haven't had to endure the first day of school yet. I'll be sitting in the classroom refusing to leave on C's first day!

Bensonbluebird · 03/09/2007 15:02

Dear all,

AM - A tooth! wow

Aidan is 17 weeks tomorrow and waking 2 or 3 times a night. I've started using pick up/put down if he wakes just 1.5 or 2 hours after the last feed and it is a bit painful but it does work. I'm holding out for 5 months at least for weaning - I'm not sure it would make that much difference to Aidan at the moment.

Went to an NCT sale on saturday. The clothes weren't great but the toys were. I bought DS1 lego, dinosaurs, cars, an aquadraw and a big bag of kitchen equipment. He'll be getting spoiled.

Got no idea how much baby weight I have to lose - don't have any scales so am in blissful ignorance. I do fit into my ordinary clothes though.

Lups - schools have been back here for several weeks. All my friends kids who have just started are loving it so I think it must be much harder for us than it is for them.

Pebblemum · 03/09/2007 17:12

Afternoon all

Lupins sorry to hear you hadnt been well, glad you all seem better now though.

I remember ds1's first day at school, I was a nervous wreck I was expecting a few tears instead he just let go of my hand said bye and disappeared into class, not even as much as a kiss for his poor mummy I was glad he didnt make a fuss but at the same time I felt a bit neglected that he could just go off like that without giving me a second thought. Luckily he has always loved school and ive never had any problems. Think it will be a bit different when ds2 starts next Sept as he is more clingy.

We had fun the other night, bought the boys an ice cream each from the local Co-op but when ds2 went to eat his he found half of it was missing. It was a Smarties one and looked as if it had melted and then refrozen, what was left also had a strange colour to it. When i smelt it, it smelt like rotten eggs mixed with brandy, luckily ds2 hadnt touched it so I took it back to the co-op to complain. it turns out almost the whole batch in the freezer were the same and several other people had taken theirs back to complain. Some hadnt been as lucky as me and their little ones had eaten bits of the lollies, those children were up all night being sick and with upset stomachs We are all now waiting to hear from head office and find out what was wrong with them. Dont think i'll be buying ice creams from there again for a while

Have been trying to encourage Alana to turn over, she gets halfway and then stops. She moves around the floor well enough but doesnt seem to want to roll over. Oh well sure she will soon.

DS2 was given an early birthday present yesterday, a proper Go=Kart. Since we went to Holland last year he has wanted one. He has been given it early as we go away a week after his birthday so he wouldnt get much chance to use it before we go. He loves it, thought he was going to sleep in it last night, he didnt want to leave it alone. We werent even allowed to put it in the shed because otherwise it could get spiders on it Hes hardly been off it, definately money well spent lol

SuperMonkey · 03/09/2007 17:49

Mum2G - I had a similar thing. I BF but have always offered S the odd bottle of Gold in the day and he's always had a bottle at bedtime (helps him sleep). I changed to White at bedtime at which point he started to refuse the Gold. I think it must taste nicer.

My only other thought - S is becoming much more distracted during his feeds and often won't take much during the day when there's stuff going on and better things to concentrate on. He still feeds well at bedtime when he's tired. As a result he's up more in the night. Any chance it could be this?

Mum2G · 03/09/2007 18:41

Thanks guys for your replies, eliminated wind as being the cause, when i offered hungry baby during day today he had 7 oz! so as you have suggested he must have gone off the gold stuff.

Perhaps i should mix hungry baby and gold together for some of his day feeds as when i started giving him hungry baby milk the HV said a risk of constipation if soley hungry baby milk given.

Today has definately been one of those days, Roll on tommorrow!

Mum2G · 03/09/2007 18:48

Forgot to say supermonkey you could be right too on your latter suggestion too, hope he doesn't start waking up more in the night!

cameroonmama · 03/09/2007 19:21

Evening,

April how is the new car? What is it?

Pebble we are at the go-kart, it would be ds1's idea of heaven.

Lups, can you send me photos of your loola and how much you would like for it? Stephensonkuk at yahoo uk

Well our last day of holidays today and school tomorrow and dh has gone off on another spy mission to .... CHINA! Should be interesting.

J has been whingeing all day, he is down to pooping every 4 days only, he is only bf, is it possible for an exclusively bf baby to be constipated and get tummy ache from it? He still won't sleep for longer than 30 mins in the day so maybe he is just a bit tired.

aprilmeadow · 03/09/2007 19:40

Baby rice was definately the way forward! She slurped 2 teaspoons worth of rice today and was looking for more, so ended up topping her up with boob! She seems a lot happier today which is good. She will be 21 wks tomorrow so dont feel too bad that i didnt make it to 26.

The car is lovely thank you. I feel a bit to say what it is..... Its a brand new 57 plate BMW X3 in a nice blue colour with grey leather interior. It has sat nav, bluetooth and parking sensors. Just found that it has a button that allows you to turn the passenger airbag off if you have a car seat in the front.

BBB, thank you for the pants!

Pebble, It took Ella about two weeks to get from being on her side to her actually rolling over - now she can do it in the blink of an eye!

cameroonmama · 03/09/2007 19:57

April at the car

Lupins71 · 03/09/2007 21:05

Mum2G can you dh help pls, I have done those bits that he said to do - so when i am in skype where do i add webcan if i am say chatting or calling my mum pls? sorry to be a pain, btw hv told me hungry baby milk may cause constapation but we had the reverse effect - just so your aware!!

Cam am about to email you, sorry cant offer much advice on the upset tummy im afraid,

Pebble - ewwwwww at the icecream - we had a bad chicken incident at co-op must say tho they were very good, they do a double refund or goods policy, and i didnt even have the bad chicken to take back as proo - no way i was keeping that anywhere near us!! Glad you realised just in time, we are all much better thanks

April glad the new car is nice - as a none driver i have no idea what any of it means but its sounds nice (does that mean no eating donuts in the front seat - or because its leather it will wipe off the choc and custard better?)

Lupins71 · 03/09/2007 21:08

Ohhhh I know what i needed to ask - those of you with older dc's - well not babies - I need party games and party food ideas - cheap as poss pls!! got the pin the tail on the unicorn!! and will do pass the parcel, dd isnt really into musical chairs, may do letter posting game but we have really bad concrete stairs in our back garden and i can see one of them racing about and falling - nightmare - all ideas in by thursday night pls as party is on saturday and friday is my shopping to get everything day - thanks all xx

Bensonbluebird · 03/09/2007 21:34

Cam - Aidan went through a patch of only pooing every 3 or so days and he was quite uncomfortable for about an hour each time before he pooed. I think it's quite common with breastfed babies not to poo for several days without actually being constipated (when he does go is it as it was before?) I think Aidan was just a bit 'full' as it were.

SKYTVADDICT · 03/09/2007 21:51

Cam - we had noticed C is not going anywhere near as much as he used to. He still goes at least once a day though and it is usually one that needs a whole change of clothes and sometimes a bath! As BB says when J does go is it as it used to be?

Hello everyone else.

Lups - not got a new primary starter but a new secondary starter and am more than a little worried about how she will cope. She seems quite keen at the mo so fingers crossed.

Bought C a door bouncer today but its still in its box.

Nothing much else happening in the sky household.

cameroonmama · 03/09/2007 22:00

Thanks Benson, when he does poop it is dark green rather than the mustardy yellow it was before (I never thought I would be describing my babies poop to strangers ), my other two dc never did this..

Lups, I guess the party games are for Willow? How about decorating plain brown paper bags with glitter etc and their names then do a small treasure hunt where they have to find small girly things or sweets? Another one we loved was getting small water balloons filling them with water until they are about large egg size, tying them and then racing them like egg and spoon. Great fun if its warm and you have enough outdoor space!

SuperMonkey · 03/09/2007 22:02

SkyTV - we've got a secondary school starter too. She's really excited about it, even though she doesn't know a soul at the school. She's a lot braver than I would have been. Today we've had a hair cut and a try on of the whole new uniform. She won't let us take a photo of her though to send to her mum for some reason.

SKYTVADDICT · 03/09/2007 22:16

TYG- just read your thread. Hope you get things sorted. "The woman" sounds dreadful.

Both DDs were christened in a methodist church as ex h and I were both methodist (by fluke). Not sure what is going to happen about C yet probably CofE.

Supermonkey - good luck to your secondary starter - what day does she go back?

Lupins71 · 03/09/2007 22:47

Can thanks - im sure i have a pkt of water balloons somewhere - hehehe could be fun, like the trasure hunt idea too - we are doing donut decorating so lets hope they wont get sprinkles on their bags and sequins on thier donuts!!

Sky hope your dd gets on ok

Thanks all for the reassuring words regarding school - im sure it will be fine

SuperMonkey · 04/09/2007 07:36

Sky - she's back tomorrow, so this morning she's having a dry run at getting ready. It's a long story but basically she's ended up with a 14 week summer holiday during which she's hardly ever been out of bed before 10:00am. I know I should have been making her get up earlier but my heart hasn't been in it as it's given me and Boy some time together. It'll be nice to have her out from under my feet (in the nicest possible way!), she's been at home with us since the Boy was 3 weeks old.

Good luck with everyone's new starters.

aprilmeadow · 04/09/2007 07:53

On the poo front, we havent had one since Thursday i think! She can go for a good while without one, but more than makes up for it iykwim.

I hope all 1st days at school go well, sounds like the mummies are more nervous than the kiddies I htink i have 2 years before thats me.

Lups, Willow's party sounds great fun.

Ella was up at 4am & 7.20am so an improvement on yesterday. Am hoping that the waking will get later and later. She is in a very god mood, currently rolling from back to front and trying gum anything and everything in sight - poor monkey toy!
