AM glad your day went well

MKG I have got Arlen a Bebepod plus chair - chair that doubles up as starter feedong seat with a toy that slots in, he has just started looking comfortable in it this week - I am going to have to get rid of the rocker chair i have and bean chair as he only wants to sit now - still needs support tho

LW&W no problem, lol arent we fussy buggers

Right back to the mega ironing pile - if no one has heard from me in 2 days then call a search party on - I am lost in unironed shirts!!

twelveyeargap · 26/08/2007 22:21

Another vote here for a Bebepod plus chair. It's great. My SIL said it's much lighter and more portable than a Bumbo, fwiw.

Wouldn't be pining so much for former life if DH didn't seem to be out all the damn time. Tsk. (I say "seem", because he's not out that much - I'm just jealous). I realised that it's a year since I was out "on it". I know, because the day I got my period, just before I fell pregnant, I had a HUGE night out, just in case I was pregnant by the following month.

However, two of my very good friends from Ireland were over this weekend and it was great. We sat up til 3 or 4 Fri and Sat night and drank Pimms and champagne and gossipped and chatted like old times. Brilliant.

Thinking of those of you with poorly friends. x

MKG · 27/08/2007 06:02

Well everyone is asleep but me here in this crazy house. I'm enjoying the silence.

I just realized that some of you ladies are waking up and I'm not quite asleep yet. Oh well. Have a good morning ladies.

SKYTVADDICT · 27/08/2007 08:45

AM - Ella looks really cute in her dresses.

We want to have C christened but don't know when and the cost!!! Someone suggested having it with my 40th birthday in December but I don't want a party and don't think C should have to "share" his day with me.

C loves his Bumbo for approx. 10 mins at the most but at least it gets me a cup of tea of the washing up done!

He slept through the night before last but not last night as we had gone to a bbq and he had his last feed at 7.45 then fell asleep and stayed asleep all the way home and into his bed! He woke at 3 then again at 7.

LW - hope you are feeling a bit more positive - you are bound to have bad days. Can't remember being a first time mum but even third time round it extremely hard some days!

Hope everyone else is ok. Think we are doing a picnic, walk and possibly swimming today. Weather looking ok.

aprilmeadow · 27/08/2007 10:03

Sky, I think the whole day cost under £250 pounds. The hall cost £30 (£6ph) the Church was free all bar a donation. I cheated and got all the sarnies, meat, fruit & soft drinks from Costco £130. Spent about £30 in Iceland/Morrisons on mini pizzas, cocktail sausages etc. The cake was from Waitrose and cost £32. Then i spent about £10 on paper plates etc. We had about 60 people. We chose not to have any alcohol as it would bump the cost up - meanies that we are! Most of our mates had had a heavy night the night before so i think the soft drinks were probably best. Only my great aunt seemed surprised that it was soft drinks/tea&coffee only. If I had made everything myself then i am sure that i could have gotten the price under £200.

Mum2G · 27/08/2007 10:06

Morning all, hope you all are having a good bank hol, my thoughts are with those of you having a bit of difficult time at the moment

I am missing hubby too - he took the friday off instead of the monday so that we could go to a do, and is back at work today, it is strange when you are round loads of people at the weekend and then it is just you and babes!

We went to a ruby wedding do on Saturday and George was brilliant, he sat for four hours being passed round for cuddles, and was so good, not one cry, he must have been loving all the attention - i am so glad because he is not used to having so many people roudn him, but he loved being in a crowd - cos he is nosy! Everyone commented on how relaxed he is - pround mummy moment - must be doing something right, even if am making it all up as go along! I have attahced some pic's to profile page.

LW & L, i hope you don't mind me saying but i think you are doing brilliantly, (not that i know you but from what i have read), being a parent is the hardest job for sure.

AM - Ella looks gorgeous in her dress, glad you had the lovely weather for her big day, looking forward to meeting her at the meet up! Was thinking about having a naming ceremony for Gerge rather than a christening.

Was thinking of getting G a bumbo but will go and look up these other chairs now!

aprilmeadow · 27/08/2007 21:53

Hope everyone is well and has been enjoying this lovely bank holiday weekend.

Do we have a date for the South meet up?

largeginandtonic · 27/08/2007 23:05

Evening all

Im in sunny Plymouth, it is lovely to be here. Kids all at exp's and i just have little Beau! He is being very good and very spoilt by his Nan and Grandad.

My little bro came back from sea yesterday too, it was so lovely to see him. He had not even met Beau before! He was on the Cornwall, the ship that had the sailors taken hostage as they were alledgedly in Iraqui waters. I was so relieved to see him safe and well.

DH is sitting his Fleet Board tomorrow, very big deal. He is nervous, im nervous, cant wait for it to be over. I pick him up in the afternoon when i hope all will be well.

Hope everyone is ok, must go and track down the other thread and try and catch up. Love to all xxx

Pebblemum · 28/08/2007 00:13

Evening all

Good luck for tomorrow LG&T's DH

Glad the christening went well AM, have wanted to get all mine christened but with ds1 his dad was an ex-Jehovahs Witness who although he had turned his back on them he still upheld some of their beliefs and so wanted ds1 to be 'christened' into their faith which i didnt want, and now with dh he is an aetheist(sp) and has no interest in such things. Have suggested 'naming' ceremonies but hes not keen on them either thinks they are for hippies lol, very strange my husband

Well we had a great time at MIL's garden party yesterday, kids ate lots (ds1 up most of night feeling sick lol) Alana was brilliant but decided that she didnt want to miss anything and so stayed awake for the whole 6hrs we were there made up for it this morning though and didnt wake up until 9am (last feed was at 8pm)she also slept for most of the afternoon, bless her.

Yesterday was also great for me because I got to see my Brother Just as we were leaving to go to MIL's I had a text message to say he was at my parents, he had turned up unannounced and wanted to see me and the kids. Dh wasnt too happy having to delay our arrival at MIL's but i didnt care too much, I hadnt seen my brother since the end of April and didnt know when he would be down again. He looked great, seems to be getting on ok in Lincoln although hes still living with our cousins. He thinks Alana is lovely, first time he had met her. He had to rush off back to Lincoln (had work at 1am today)so it was just a fleeting visit but I was so glad I saw him. MIL understood why we were late so it all turned out good.

Had a rather boring day today in comparison, dh had to go to work so it was just me and the children. All the neighbours were out so it was really peaceful, didnt have them knocking my door every two minutes lol. The boys had their pool out and were in it most of the day while Alana slept. The only problem was Ds2 decided he didnt need shorts on in the pool and so took them off, he then decided he didnt need shorts on once he got out either and so spent almost an hour wandering around the house naked before finally getting his pj's on. Didnt really bother me as I knew no one could see him

Am now off to check my ebay before bed, half my things have finished selling tonight so hopefully have made a bit of money. Still have lots to list, ebay went and removed some of my listings because i put As New in the title, took me ages to list them the first time, havent managed to redo them yet. As im sure you can understand i was not amused especially when i saw lots of things listed elsewhere with the same wording

twelveyeargap · 28/08/2007 09:05

I take my hat off to you Pebble. I don't have the patience for listing stuff on ebay. Hope you made lots of cash. I did buy something on ebay yesterday... A battery for my digital camera. Had managed to wash the other one in the pocket of my pyjamas. Doh. Bought one in the Sony shop and when DH heard it was £55 , he sent me to look on ebay and lo and behold, you can get them sent from Hong Kong for a tenner. Just hope the Sony shop do refunds!

Best of luck MrG&T. Had to ask Wiki what a Fleet Board is, but now know how important it is. Great news that your bro is home too.

My "finds it hard to fall asleep" baby has suddenly got the hang of it and is now sparko under her play-arch. You're as like to find her in the same state in her bouncer/ car seat/ buggy and most importantly, her cot. It's great. Such a relief. You just need to ignore her and she gets bored and goes to sleep. Hurrah! She's so much happier when she gets her kip.

I'm off to see TokenTotty from the Due in August board today. Yay! She had her baby on the 19th. Can't WAIT to see him.

aprilmeadow · 28/08/2007 09:13

Morning

Well done TYG on A falling asleep on her own. Ella seems to have gone backwards on the sleep front Have spent the last week having her waking twice a night and being a lot more grumpy during the day. She is also feeding more often.. So with all that in mind i have decided to start the whole weaning process today. She is 20weeks today so i figured that it cant hurt. Ds was 17wks when i weaning him. Have got my Annabel Karmel book out and am looking at her purees and schedules etc, am going to try baby rice for 3 days then introduce a new fruit/veg every 3 days. I hope it works as i am knackered!

SKYTVADDICT · 28/08/2007 09:34

Morning all

Good luck with the weaning AM. I'm sure we all can't wait to hear how it goes. Think we will try and sort christening soon and will probably do something similar to you.

C slept through again for two nights so I think last week must have been a growth spurt. Thats put a hold on weaning in the Sky household for now at least.

Good luck to your DP today LG&T. Isn't it great when you only have the LO to look after sometimes?

I have just screamed at DD2 and now feel really guilty but she just goes on and on and on! It is an argument over who is watching what on TV between her and DD1 and it really is DD1s turn - she just won't give in. I now have a sore throat and she is quite happily watching DD1s programme (8 simple rules for dating my teenage daughter!).

Lovely piccies of G - Mum2G.

Sounds like you all had nice weekends. We did. Took C swimming again yesterday and he loves it but I got really stressed getting dressed at the end as he was screaming and I had to get everything out of the locker and dropped DPs change from his pocket all over - it all went a bit wrong and I was nearly in tears (DP and DDs still swimming). Will have to try and work out a better way of doing things!

Mum2G · 28/08/2007 09:35

Morning all, just popped in to say that i can do any days cept thursdays for the meet up - got to go baby crying!

aprilmeadow · 28/08/2007 11:01

LG&T hope dh gets on well today.

Mum2G - what a cutie you have

Sky, re the swimming and getting changed... could dh hang onto C and the dd's whilst you nip and get dressed, then once you are done you could go and get C?

Also interesting what you said about C now sleeping through and that the pants sleeping could have been a growth spurt. Mentioned to dh that i was nervous about starting the weaning today as ideally i had wanted towait untilas close to 6mths as poss, and he thinks that Ella is waking and fussing more possibly due to a GS or maybe because we have had a busy week. He wants to wait and see how the week pans out and then if she is no different then start weaning. So think that's what i might do. I will get everything ready and even start on making batches pureed carrot, apple etc Think it can stay frozen for a month.

Meet up - cant do Mondays (ds off nursery)or Thursdays (Ella swimming)

Pebble, how annoying for ebay to do that! I've seen loads of listings like that.

MrsJB,hope you are keeping well

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 28/08/2007 18:18

We tried to go on holiday. Bad idea. BabyTank has decided to feed constantly again having settled down into an every 1.5hr routine for a while. She is currently waking 7 times a night for a feed. Tried taking her to a museum, cried for food. A cathedral, cried for food. A historical walk, cried for food. A restaurant, I started crying for a break.

Weighed and measured today. She is on the 98th centile for height and weight and is a whopping 17lb+. 6month clothes are snug on her.

I'm never leaving the house again. Have changed my name to DaisyTheDairyCow and am wearing pyjamas all day every day and will at some point fashion holes in them for my fricking udders.

I miss you all.

cameroonmama · 28/08/2007 18:45

Haven't a hope of catching up with the whole thread... but I am sorry to hear of all those who have sick friends and family.

SOH, so sorry...sympathies and gingerbread coming your way. J and M are obviously meant to be together. He is definately snug in his 6 month clothes and chomps away every couple of hours, my norks are feeling a little tender, he now seems to be absorbing all the milk, as he rarely burps and hasn't pooped for 4 days! However he isn't cying very much and is not waking much at night, thank heavens for small mercies!

Oops norks are being demanded, must dash.

cameroonmama · 28/08/2007 18:59

Back again, April Ella looks divine in her gown, you are soooo organised.

Welcome mum2g.

LG&T how did it go? Does this mean dh gets a promotion? Fingers crossed. We are not too far from Exeter, we are planning to go to Escot near Exmouth here on Thursday and it would be great to see you if its not too far? I would love to have a Beau-cuddle

Where will you southerners meet-up? I might be able to make it if its not too far...

TYG - you are sounding decidedly broody

Its our wedding anniversary today, 8 years, quite remarkable that dh has put up with me for that long, must be the reason for all those overseas spy missions, to escape for a break I shall cook him his favourite supper and crack open the champagne.

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 28/08/2007 19:04

aah happy anniversary lady.

Have already announced to everybody that M is marrying J. Imagine their enormous and hungry babies! Also feeling tender here, have burst blood vessels on my nipples she's so hungry. Have read so much on weaning today and everything says do not wean before 26 weeks or you'll be struck down by lightning or come out in hives or something.

How will I make it another 10 weeks?

cameroonmama · 28/08/2007 19:10

SOH, at the thought of monster offspring.

I did wean dd at 4 months as she was like M, though tbh I can not remember if it made the slightest bit of difference or not

InTheseShoes · 28/08/2007 19:22

Congratulations Cameroonmama and Mr007cameroon! We were on holiday in Exeter the other week, I had no idea that you lived there!

SOH sorry your respite hasn't lasted too long, maybe it's a growthspurt and she will settle soon? T feeds about every two hours which is quite enough for me.

Hope all went well for Mr LGandT although hazy about what it actually is.

Hello to everyone else!

cameroonmama · 28/08/2007 19:34

Thanks ITS, I am about an hour from Exeter up in Somerset, near all the magical mystical vibes of Glastonbury, shame that we missed each other. Glad to hear Ted is doing well.

SOH, you know, you need to wean M when you (and she naturally) feel comfortable doing it and don't succomb to peer pressure to wait and wait til the magical 6 month mark.

Lupins71 · 28/08/2007 21:11

Hi all - I will catch up on thread tomorrow - just wanted to share my good and bad news!!!

The good news little Arlen slept from 6.30 til 5.50 yipeeeeeeeeeeeee, then went back to bed 7-8am - good nights sleep had by all

The bad news - went to legoland with friends today, Willow was running about only just ahead of us with friends ds, friends dd got her foot caught in railings, sos I freed it - took about 5 seconds, when i looked up Willow was gone couldnt find her anywhere, was sooooo frightening, friend waited where we were in case she turned up I walked up to the entrance to alert the staff as to missing child - and saw her with a member of staff, OMG the relief was overwhelming, thankfully she scared herself senseless and hopefully will realise why she has to stay near me, I do think she just lost sight of us for a few seconds and didnt know where to go so kept wandering, I cant tell you what was going through my mind but pleased to say i have my little daughter back with me and hope none of you ever have to go through that

Am off for strong cup of tea and will catch up with you all tomorrow - Considering my good nights sleep I am now drained again - hope ev1 is ok, and hugs to all you little ones

SKYTVADDICT · 28/08/2007 21:21

Hi all

Sorry to hear about your day Lupins. It is a nightmare. We once lost DD2 when she was 3 in Next at Fosse Park, Leicester. DD1 found her eventually walking around holding a big boys hand who was helping her look for us! It was the longest 5 minutes of my life. Ex Hs fault of course as he had only turned his back for a minute! Hope you get another good night.

Holiday probably upskittled M SOH, together with a growth spurt. C had one last week and was 16 weeks on Saturday. Last 2 nights been a lot better so fingers crossed.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 28/08/2007 22:24

Hello all

just a quick one

Still manic here til friday. H back at school today so one down during the day.

Lups. Scary when you loose them, it happened once to us with H and then we taught him that if he ever finds he can't see us then he must stand still and not move. We can then retrace our steps and should find him rather than us chasing each other around. It was put into practice last week at a night market and it worked brill. We only lost him for a few mins but I walked back up the busy street and there he was stood like a statue in the middle of the isle. Bless!!

SOH, Hugs to you and the feeding lady. xxx

Hope today went well N

Thanks for thinking of me AM, df is in today to have the port fitted for the chemo to start. She is feeling a little more positive now and we are beginning to be able to have a "normal" conversation again.

Will catch up and chat properly come the weekend. Yey, missing you all too. xxx

Hi all

I know, I know, I'm the typical fairweather friend who disappears for months on end.

Just thought I'd bob on and say hi to you all. Sounds like everyone is doing great. As a matter of interest its year (give or take) that all our babies were conceived! Nice.

Anyway, no real news here. Lexie had her second jabs today (6 weeks late), and was a little angel. Compared to her first set, where the HV suggested I calm her down before walking through the waiting room, so as not to scare the other mums. Having said that, she had no reaction last time, but definitely wasn't herself tonight. Usually she is like a lunatic in her bath (on account of having no harness and free legs), but tonight she just lay there looking at me in disgust.

Back to Alder Hey on Thursday, and hopefully the damn thing will be coming off, keep everything crossed for me.

In relation to sleep, she does great til about 4am, when she wants to get in with us. So we have bought a super king size bed which is being delivered on Friday. My daughter, spoilt? Surely not.

She definitely has the run of the house, proper little madam she is. Goddamn gorgeous though. Glad to hear you are all well, will make an effort to catch up asap.

xx
